Jumping rope This childhood activity can actually do wonders for your health. Jumping rope is great for strengthening the lower and upper body while training your balance and coordination (协调能力), because your mind has to work while you jump. Jumping rope can burn 600 to 1,000 calories in an hour. Swimming Swimming is a low-intensity form of exercise that also uses muscle groups of your body. In just 30 minutes of swimming, an average person can burn 200 to 300 calories. Swimming also helps to shape body, control blood pressure, and increase strength—all great reasons for you to jump into the water. 19.Which kind of exercise burns the most calories in an hour? The truth is that you will never feel ready, and instead it is important to use the knowledge to communicate what you can. This leads on to my next tip: don’t compare yourself to others. This can be a hard one, especially if you are in a large language class. It is important to remember that we all learn At different speeds and through different styles of learning. Something that really helped me progress/was finding a patient language exchange partner. Finding someone whose level of English was similar to my level of Spanish to practice with made me feel much more confident Lastly, celebrate the small success and remember how far you have come! Instead of focusing on how far you have to go, focus on the progress you have already made and be proud of your achievements! 22.What does the underlined part suggest in the passage? A. The author took great pride in his classmates. B. The author was unable to speak many languages. C. The author wanted to leave university immediately. D. Set long-term goals to improve interest. C. Learn from an example and pick out weak points. D. Choose a language exchange partner at the same level. 25.What does the author want to tell in the passage? A. Learning new languages is not so hard. B. Mastering Spanish is a chance in a million. C. In an analysis of 16 cities around the world, those that saw the biggest temperature rises over the years also had more rat complaints over time, researchers reported in Science Advances. Jonathan Richardson, a researcher of the University of Richmond in Virginia, together with his team, gathered records of complaints made about rats over an average of 12 years from 13 US cities, as well as Toronto, Tokyo and Amsterdam. They found that among factors including levels of urbanization (城市化) , economic development, population growth and average temperatures, the strongest one associated with a faster rat race was the amount a city’s temperature had increased. “The unseasonably warm winters of climate change,” Richardson says, “probably buy rats extra time outdoors. An extra week or two foraging (觅食) outdoors… that’s, in some cases, adequate for a rat to reproduce one more time.” Warming weather also means fewer opportunities to control rat populations. “There used to be a rodent (啮齿动物) season: Rats sought shelter indoors in winter with lower birth rates, allowing professionals to take advantage of the chance to control. Now it’s all year round,” says Bobby Corrigan, a rodentologist. “When humans and rats share space, there are really a variety of risks coming along, ” says Niamh Quinn, a human-wildlife interactions advisor at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources in Irvine. Rats not only make people jump and scream, but also chew up car wiring and eat crops and gardens. Their wastes pollute food that they get into, and they can spread diseases. They cause around 27 billion dollars in damage each year in the United States, and the world spends 500 million dollars per year fighting a losing battle against the creature. Higher temperatures may make matters worse; “At some point there’s going to be hopefully not, but potentially the perfect storm, where we have all these increasing population, all these rodents but not enough tools in our toolbox to manage them, ” said Bobby. 30.What mainly contributes to the rise in rat populations in cities? A. The progression of urbanization. B. Increase in city-temperatures. C. The shortening of rodent seasons. D. Improved reporting of rat complaints. 31.What does the underlined word “adequate” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Sufficient. B. Demanding. C. Unlikely. D. Unsuitable. 32.What does the author want to tell us in paragraph 4? A. Measures to track rat complaints. B. Damage of high temperatures. C. The reasons for high birth rates of rats. D. The seriousness of the increasing rats. 33.What can be the best title for the text? A. More Rodent Activities Drive Hotter Climates. B. Major Cities Take Responsibility For Rat Rises. C. Rodent Activities Impact the Climate Globally. D. Rising Rat Populations Result From Rising Heat. 34.People favor humor, as it lights up daily moments, eases awkwardness and makes every interaction warm and enjoyable. This magic of humor doesn’t just work in daily life; it also shines in the field of science, especially online. ①____________ Firstly, humor simplifies tough scientific knowledge. ②____________ For example, explaining AI in self-driving cars with a funny analogy about “machines learning like clumsy toddlers” makes abstract ideas easy for non-professional groups to understand.③ ____________ Scientists sharing clever and humorous stories about laboratory experiments on social media often attract more interactions than dry academic posts. Additionally, humor humanizes scientists, as seen in popular science lectures where light-hearted jokes help audiences feel closer to researchers. ④____________ The hidden risks deserve our attention. If the content itself is untrue, humor can even replace facts, leading the audience to form wrong opinions about scientific knowledge just based on the amusing posts they see. Overusing sarcasm or negative humor also has the opposite effect, as it will quickly make scientists lose the public’s trust and damage their credibility. Proper humor use requires a balance between vivid expression and professional precision. It should neither overshadow the core scientific information nor be so shallow that it loses seriousness. ⑤____________ Scientists who master this balance can effectively narrow the divide with the public, making science more welcoming and popular. A. Overuse harms professionalism. B. It also boosts audience engagement effectively. C. It helps break the impression of scientists being cold and distant. D. A little humor can greatly enhance scientists’ communication effect. E. Humor in scientific communication is a double-edged sword, though. F. It’s a helper in making complex concepts understandable to ordinary people. G. It is believed humor needs to be used with great care in such communication. 四、完形填空(15空) Daniel was a college student planning his summer vacation. My parents are big basketball fans, so they named me after him, sparking my love-hate relationship with the name. We share only our passion for basketball; he’s a tall, famous icon, while I'm a short boy who can barely dribble (运球) the ball without dropping it. Every Saturday, the Central District’s Boys and Girls Club sponsors league-play for all age groups. My age group, 9 to 11, is the biggest. For years, I was always the last picked. “He’s too small!” Louis, a team captain, would say coldly while my teammates laughed. I’d sit on the hard bench the whole game, then lie to my dad about having fun, my heart aching to do my part for the team instead of just watching from the sidelines. Last November, I got to play, thanks to Thanksgiving trips and flu season. I tried to make up for my poor skills by being really aggressive. I would always defend the biggest kid on the other team, and ended up with a bloody nose. The Boys and Girls Club has a great nurse’s room. I know because I spent more time in there than on the court. The nurse was a Vietnamese lady, and because none of the kids could pronounce her name, they called her Skimmy. Skimmy didn’t know anything about basketball or any other American sports, but she was nice and had a pretty smile. By my twelfth nosebleed, Skimmy was my friend. It was she who finally helped me become a better player. “Mr. Shaq,” she said one Saturday, “I watch you play. You always get hurt. Why do you play that way? Why don’t you take advantage of what you are? I watch you — you are fast. You are speedier than a meteor. Why don’t you get faster?” What Skimmy had said made a lot of sense: _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next Saturday, I stepped onto the court with a different plan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ( 第 1 页 共 5 页 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 参考答案 1. W: Did you hear they are turning that empty lot into a butterfly garden? You can get great calorie burning effects with the following exercises.(你可能会考虑通过训练来燃烧卡路里。 I remember walking into my first-ever Spanish class at university only to discover that half of my classmates were already fluent in many languages. It’s safe to say I felt out of my depth! 短语含义:feel out of one’s depth = 力不能及、超出能力范围。 At first the thought of speaking Spanish terrified me... we often aim for perfection and feel as though we are not ready to speak until we have “enough” words or grammatical knowledge. Finding someone whose level of English was similar to my level of Spanish to practice with made me feel much more confident. 根据第二段中“They found that among factors including levels of urbanization (城市化), economic development, population growth and average temperatures, the strongest one associated with a faster rat race was the amount a city’s temperature had increased.(他们发现,在包括城市化水平、经济发展、人口增长和平均气温等因素中,与老鼠数量快速增长关联最强的因素是城市气温的上升幅度。)” 根据第三段中““The unseasonably warm winters of climate change,” Richardson says, “probably buy rats extra time outdoors. An extra week or two foraging (觅食) outdoors… that’s, in some cases, adequate for a rat to reproduce one more time.”(理查德森表示:“气候变化带来的异常温暖的冬天,可能会给老鼠争取到更多待在户外的时间。 故选A。 32. 根据第四段中“Rats not only make people jump and scream, but also chew up car wiring and eat crops and gardens. Their wastes pollute food that they get into, and they can spread diseases. They cause around 27 billion dollars in damage each year in the United States, and the world spends 500 million dollars per year fighting a losing battle against the creature. 根据第一段“In an analysis of 16 cities around the world, those that saw the biggest temperature rises over the years also had more rat complaints over time, researchers reported in Science Advances.(研究人员在《科学进展》杂志上报告称,在对全球16个城市的分析中,那些多年来气温上升幅度最大的城市,随着时间的推移,老鼠投诉也更多。)”、第二段“They found that among factors including levels of urbanization (城市化), economic development, population growth and average temperatures, the strongest one associated with a faster rat race was the amount a city’s temperature had increased.(他们发现,在包括城市化水平、经济发展、人口增长和平均气温等因素中,与老鼠数量快速增长关联最强的因素是城市气温的上升幅度。)” 34.答案:D;F;B;E;A 解析:①由上文“This magic of humor doesn’t just work in daily life; it also shines in the field of science, especially online.(幽默的这种魔力不仅在日常生活中奏效,在科学领域也大放异彩,尤其是在网络上)”可知,前文指出幽默在科学领域的积极作用,空格处应承接该话题,说明幽默对科学家沟通的正面影响,D项“A little humor can greatly enhance scientists’ communication effect.(一点幽默能极大地提升科学家的沟通效果)”符合语境,承接上文的“shines in the field of science”,总起下文对幽默作用的具体阐述。故选D项。 ②由上文“Firstly, humor simplifies tough scientific knowledge.(首先,幽默能简化晦涩的科学知识)”可知,此处强调幽默对理解复杂科学知识的作用,空格处应进一步解释该作用,F项“It’s a helper in making complex concepts understandable to ordinary people.(它有助于让普通人理解复杂的概念)”符合语境,其中“making complex concepts understandable”与上文“simplifies tough scientific knowledge”相呼应,衔接紧密。故选F项。 ③由下文“Scientists sharing clever and humorous stories about laboratory experiments on social media often attract more interactions than dry academic posts.(科学家们在社交媒体上分享实验室实验的趣味故事,往往比枯燥的学术帖子吸引更多互动)”可知,后文说明幽默能提升观众的参与度,空格处应提出该观点,B项“It also boosts audience engagement effectively.(它还能有效提高观众的参与度)”符合语境,其中“boosts audience engagement”与下文“attract more interactions”相呼应,“also”承接上文幽默的第一个作用,形成并列。 ⑤由上文“Proper humor use requires a balance between vivid expression and professional precision. It should neither overshadow the core scientific information nor be so shallow that it loses seriousness.(合理使用幽默需要在生动表达和专业严谨之间找到平衡。 故选A项。 35.答案:A 解析:固定搭配 find a job 找工作;cover the bills 支付开销。 36.答案:C 解析:come up with an idea 想出主意,为固定搭配。stand up for 支持;make up for 弥补;keep up with 跟上,排除。 37.答案:D 解析:be inspired by 受...... 50.答案:releasing;It;triggering;which;Playing;is used;listening;to understand;what;itself 解析:①考点:现在分词作结果状语 句意:音乐激活大脑奖赏系统,释放多巴胺。 it(音乐)和 use 是被动关系 → be used to do。 ⑧考点:固定搭配 begin to do sth. 51.答案:Art Lifts Spirits As we can see in the picture, drawing an apple with a pencil brings peace and focus. Art, in fact, is a powerful helper for our mental health. It lets us express feelings that are hard to put into words, calms our busy minds, and gives us a sense of achievement. When creating art, we forget stress and find inner joy. Let’s pick up a brush, pen or crayon! Spend 10 minutes a day on simple art—drawing, coloring or doodling. It will lift our spirits and keep our minds healthy. Spend 10 minutes a day on simple art—drawing, coloring or doodling. For the first time, I stopped focusing on my height and poor dribbling. Instead, I started practicing running every day after school, racing along the street and practicing quick turns. I no longer tried to fight with big guys but learned to use my speed to move freely on the court. Skimmy’s words lit up a path for me, and I was determined to show my value in my own way. The next Saturday, I stepped onto the court with a different plan. When the game began, I ran quickly across the court, stealing the ball from opponents before they could react. My speed surprised everyone, including Louis. I passed the ball accurately to teammates and helped score several times. I didn’t get hurt or sit on the bench anymore. At the end of the game, my teammates cheered for me. For the first time, I truly felt like a useful part of the team, and my heart was full of pride and joy. 词类激活 行为类 ①忽略:ignore/overlook ②专注于:focus on/concentrate on ③喝彩:cheer/applaud 情绪类 ①决心做:be determined to/resolve to ②快乐:joy/pleasure/delight 【高分句型1】I had been so busy trying to act tough and guard the tallest players that I completely ignored my own strength — speed.(运用了so...that... 2】When the game began, I ran quickly across the court, stealing the ball from opponents before they could react.(运用了when和before引导时间状语从句,以及现在分词作状语) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Did you hear they are turning that empty lot into a butterfly garden? really?
