There was always a part of me that I wanted to disappear. I wanted to remove it and wash my hands clean. But it’s stuck. Stuck in my brain, stuck in my name, stuck on my skin.
Being Pakistani (巴基斯坦人), I am lucky to have thick hair and sun-kissed skin. At school, I was made fun of for my skin color and different culture. Even my grandmother suggested: “bathe in milk to become fair.” I wanted to simply fit in with my friends. Growing up in America was hard as a person of color. It was easier to be accepted if my appearance matched “American” culture.
At fifteen, everything changed at a family wedding. I was only a watcher before; this time I saw what happened behind the scenes (场面). I was unsure, but being around excited Pakistanis made me curious.
After a week of wedding celebrations, I took time to understand our traditions. My grandparents taught me about many different events, and I tried biryani (手抓饭) for the first time. I began to love the beautiful, colorful dresses and the planned dances.
By the end of the week, I learned culture goes deeper than looks. I began to look at myself with pride and love, accepting my identity as a Pakistani-American. Once I accepted the part of myself Ialways wished would disappear, and I learned how to live with both American and Pakistani influences.
College offered a new beginning. Wanting to find a group that celebrated being Pakistani led me to join the Pakistani Students Association. My favorite part of the club is the differences among the same group of people. I got to explore parts of Pakistani culture I didn’t know before.
My way of thinking changed from erasing the culture I was born into to celebrating Pakistani culture filled with color and spice (香料), beauty and love. I have learned that we must celebrate our different cultures and identities. I am no longer a girl who refuses to accept, I am a girl who works hard to celebrate.
1. How did the author feel as a child?

A. To follow Pakistani traditions.
B. To meet American beauty standards.
C. To protect the author from bullying
D. To improve the author’s skin health.
3. What caused the author’s attitude change?
A. Attending college. B. Joining a school club.
C. Getting close to her culture. D. Moving away from her family.
4. What can we learn from the author’s story?
A. Hard work will pay off one day.
B. Fitting in matters more than heritage.
C. Cultural traditions are always attractive.
D. Identity acceptance brings personal growth.

For the first time since the Apollo days, humans are preparing not just to visit the Moon, but to live and work there for weeks, months, and even years. The US Artemis program aims to set up a base on the Moon’s surface. Rather than just leaving “flags and footprints”, NASA wants to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon, beginning at the lunar South Pole.
The program unfolds in stages. In 2022, Artemis I successfully tested the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft on an unmanned mission around the Moon. On April 1,2026, NASA launched Artemis II, a ten-day mission carrying four astronauts around the Moon to test that life-support systems function safely with humans onboard.
NASA plans to spend $20 billion on a lunar surface base to support longer and longer stays. This is designed to teach us how to operate sustainably beyond Earth — knowledge that will finally feed forward to future Mars missions.
Living on the Moon will challenge every organ (器官) system in the human body. Unlike astronauts in low-Earth orbit, astronauts on the Moon work largely outside Earth’s protection. This means more space radiation, which can harm DNA, weaken the body’s defense system, and affect the brain and the heart. Currently, there are some measures to reduce radiation, such as using lunar soil as cover, early warning systems for solar storms, and operational strategies that limit high-risk periods. Personalized eating strategies and exercise are also important during long lunar missions.
Spending longer time on the Moon will be amazing. But it will also be demanding and uncomfortable. If we can learn how to keep humans healthy and productive on the lunar surface, we take a decisive step toward becoming a truly spaceflight species. Artemis shows that exploration is no longer about brief heroics. It is about adaptability and understanding ourselves as deeply as the worlds we seek to explore. In learning how to live on the Moon, we may learn as much about life on Earth as we do about our future beyond it.
5. What’s the main idea of the first paragraph?
A. Humans will return to the Moon soon.
B. The Apollo program was very successful.
C. NASA plans to build a long-term Moon base.
D. Astronauts will work at the Moon’s South Pole.
6. What does the underlined word “sustainably” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Sharply. B. Lastingly. C. Immediately. D. Originally.
7. Why does the author mention low-Earth orbit in paragraph 4?
A. To show the radiation harm to astronauts on the Moon.
B. To stress the value of exercising during space mission.
C. To prove the low-Earth orbit mission is more dangerous.
D. To present the various methods of protecting astronauts.
8. What is the author’s attitude toward living on the Moon?
A. Doubtful. B. Hopeful. C. Uncaring. D. Worried.
C 6. B 7. A 8. B
根据第一段中的“The US Artemis program aims to set up a base on the Moon’s surface. Rather than just leaving “flags and footprints”, NASA wants to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon, beginning at the lunar South Pole. (美国阿尔忒弥斯计划旨在在月球表面建立基地。美国国家航空航天局不只想留下旗帜与足迹,还计划从月球南极起步,实现人类长期驻留月球。)”可知,首段主要讲述美国航天局计划建造长期月球基地。
【6题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第三段中的“NASA plans to spend $20 billion on a lunar surface base to support longer and longer stays. This is designed to teach us how to operate sustainably beyond Earth — knowledge that will finally feed forward to future Mars missions. (美国国家航空航天局计划投入200亿美元打造月球地表基地,以支持更久的驻留活动。此举旨在让我们学会在地球外sustainably开展运作,这些经验最终也将助力未来的火星探测任务。)”可知,建造月球基地是为了实现人类在地外空间长久开展各类活动,因此,画线单词意为“持久地”,与Lastingly意义相近。
【7题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Unlike astronauts in low-Earth orbit, astronauts on the Moon work largely outside Earth’s protection. This means more space radiation, which can harm DNA, weaken the body’s defense system, and affect the brain and the heart. (与近地轨道上的宇航员不同,月球上的宇航员大多脱离地球的防护范围开展工作。这意味着他们会接触到更多太空辐射,这类辐射会损伤基因、削弱人体免疫系统,还会对大脑和心脏造成影响。)”可知,作者对比二者,是为了凸显月球上宇航员遭受的辐射危害。
【8题详解】
推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是尾段中的“In learning how to live on the Moon, we may learn as much about life on Earth as we do about our future beyond it. (在探索月球生存方式的过程中,我们既能洞悉奔赴地外未来的奥秘,也能更加了解地球本身的生活百态。)”可知,作者认为月球生活虽充满挑战,但意义重大,对此满怀期待与希望。

Sydney’s Chinatown has been the heart of the Chinese community since the late 19th century. Today, it is a lively mix of Asian culture, food, and tradition, attracting millions of visitors every year. Unlike many other Chinatowns that are only on one street, Sydney’s Chinatown spreads through the Haymarket area, with Dixon Street as its busy center. The weather is nice most of the year, with mild winters and warm summers, making it a great place to visit any time.
Historically, Chinese immigrants first arrived in Australia during the gold rushes of the 1850s. Thousands came to New South Wales looking for fortune. After the gold rush, many settled in Sydney, capital of New South Wales, and turned to market gardening, furniture (家具) making, and running small shops. Today, most of the residents and business owners in Chinatown are still of Chinese roots, and the area remains a true cultural center.
Much of old Chinatown has been rebuilt over the years, but great care has been taken to keep its Chinese character. Traditionally, visitors enter through the beautifully decorated archways (拱门) on Dixon Street, which have traditional stone lions, and gold Chinese characters meant to bring good luck and drive away evil spirits. Other famous landmarks include the Chinese Garden of Friendship — a peaceful classical garden built together with Sydney’s sister city, Guangzhou — and the Paddy’sMarkets, where you can find everything from fresh produce to souvenirs. A short walk away, Darling Square offers modern dining and the striking Darling Quarter playground, mixing old and new.
What tourists and Sydneysiders love most about Chinatown is its food. Whether you want spicy Sichuan hot pot, hand-pulled noodles, or hot Mongolian barbecue (烧烤), there is something for every taste. Late-night restaurants are full of energy, and tea shops line the streets, offering a modern style to traditional tastes.
Chinatown is an important part of Sydney’s multicultural identity. It allows visitors who have never been to China to experience traditional Chinese culture firsthand — right in the heart of one of Australia’s most lively cities.
9. What makes Sydney’s Chinatown special?
A. The climate is mild there. B. It has a history of 200 years.
C. The Chinese population is the largest. D. It is not limited to one street.
10. What can visitors see on Dixon Street?
A. Fresh produce and souvenirs from Paddy’s.
B. Traditional stone lions and gold characters.
C. Modern dining and Darling Quarter playground.
D. Chinese Garden of Friendship and Paddy’s Markets.
11. What can be inferred about the food scene (场面) in the Chinatown?
A. Many classic dishes have been lost.
B. It mainly serves food late at night.
C. It keeps tradition while welcoming change.
D. The food meets most immigrants’ cultural demands.
12. What could be a suitable title for the text?
A. Chinatown: A Living Cultural Bridge B. The Most Popular Attraction in Sydney
C. How Gold Rush Changed Australia D. A Guide to Chinese Immigrants in Australia
D 10. B 11. C 12. A

根据时间标志词“In recent years(近年来)”可知,句子使用现在完成时,即,“have/has done”;主语“Chinese scientists”为复数,助动词用“have”,“complete”的过去分词形式为“completed”。
分析句子结构可知,“_____ no additional radiation shielding and active temperature control were applied”为之前名词“the experiment”的定语从句,先行词在从句中作地点状语,用关系副词where引导从句。

A
There was always a part of me that I wanted to disappear.

A. To follow Pakistani traditions.

3. What caused the author’s attitude change?
A. Attending college. B. Joining a school club.
C. Getting close to her culture. D. Moving away from her family.
4. What can we learn from the author’s story?

A. Fresh produce and souvenirs from Paddy’s.
B. Traditional stone lions and gold characters.
C. Modern dining and Darling Quarter playground.
D. Chinese Garden of Friendship and Paddy’s Markets.
