You may need a lifetime to check off the bucket list of all the fun activities you can do in China, no matter you are nature lovers or history fans. Here are the top 4 things selected for travelers to do in China.
Hike the Great Wall
Whatever your purpose of visiting China is, hiking on the Great Wall is always a must-do thing of your China tour. The Great Wall stretches over 21,196 kilometers, across about 15 provinces in China. For travelers who love adventures, don’t choose regular sections like Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall, because the crowds will definitely surprise you. You could think about exploring Jinshanling Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall for a better hiking experience.
Go Bamboo Rafting on Li River
Guilin makes a wonderful match of mountain view with water scenery for nature lovers, thanks to the famous Li River. Here in Guilin, you can enjoy the best karst sceneries along the charming Li River. If you think cruising (船游)is too normal, bamboo rafting will be a better option for you to experience the stunning views alongside.
Travel from Metropolis to Ancient Water Towns
Shanghai will be a perfect choice for you to experience the rapid development in China. All the well-designed skyscrapers (摩天大楼) along Huangpu River will generously show you how modern China looks like now. Besides, you can travel from those modern skyscrapers in Shanghai to witness the profound Chinese history and culture in some water towns near Shanghai, such as Zhujiajiao Water Town and Tongli Water Town. Consider a connecting tour with Suzhou or Hangzhou if you have a flexible schedule.
Take Care of Pandas in Chengdu
If panda is one of the most influential factors for choosing China as your travel destination, you should consider the Panda Volunteer Program in Chengdu. Even though you can see pandas in some zoos in the major cities, the experience in the hometown of giant pandas is totally different. Here in Dujiangyan Panda Base, you can take care of pandas and closely interact with those cute creatures.

In middle school, I was one of the “gifted” kids. For those three short years, I felt like I was on top of the world.
Then high school began. All of a sudden, I was no longer at the top of my class. My papers were filled with corrections, not praise.
My parents didn’t understand. From what they had known about me when I was younger, they thought that I was perfect, and so I had to be perfect all the time. Their concern grew — they began to search for private teachers and would often talk to me, trying to find out what was wrong with me. My concern grew too — the pressure to live up to their expectations only became greater. I found myself worrying about school all the time. I even questioned myself — who was I, if not the perfect student?
Watching Simone Biles pull out of the Olympics made me think of myself. Simone Biles was the GOAT (greatest of all time). If there was any person we knew we could count on to win, it was Simone.
Unlike me, Simone recognized the pressure she was under. She had the bravery and self- reflective skills to be able to realize that the pressure of perfection was too much for her. Simone Biles has taught me a very important lesson: to be the greatest person of all time, mental health must come first. Instead of getting down on myself for not becoming the best, I need to learn from Simone and be kind to myself by taking a break or even asking for help if need be.

26. How did Simone Biles influence the author?
A. She encouraged the author never to give up.
B. She taught the author useful self- reflective skills.
C. She showed the author the true meaning of perfection.
D. She made the author realize the value of mental health.
27. What is the best title for this text?
A. Pressure: how much is too much?
B. Simone Biles: the GOAT of the Olympics
C. Simone Biles, me, and the pressure of perfection
D. How do schools improve the mental health of students?
C
There were still lots of aftershocks(余震), often this would lead to all the students running outside, normal classes were impossible. Lots of students were troubled by recent events and many would not sleep in their dormitories. On the afternoon after the earthquake there was a thunderstorm, the loud crack of thunder sent some students towards the door. As they returned, the relief and laughter were evident in this latest false alarm.
The weekend after the earthquake we were in Chengdu on a pre-arranged trip. During that weekend, there were dozens of aftershocks. It was at this time that we decided enough was enough; we would complete our contracts then leave that summer. At the end of that weekend, there had been over 400 aftershocks with a few measured as high as 6.0 on the Richter scale.
On Monday afternoon, exactly one week after the first shock, there was a memorial service on TV for those that died, were missing or injured. It was observed by all the students in my class, many were openly crying, others in silence with their heads down. The rest of that afternoon it was difficult to teach. I was getting an increased feeling of “I don’t want to be here anymore,” I could see many of the students did not want to be at school either.
We eventually left Wenchuan on the 15th of July; lots of students told us they were surprised we stayed that long. When we arrived in Sichuan province, we were not aware we were even in an earthquake area. Prior to 2008 there had not been a serious earthquake in the province since the 1930’s. By November 2008, there had been more than 40,000 reported aftershocks.
28. What does the underline phrase memorial service in the third paragraph mean?
A. A grand march(游行) B. A mourning ceremony(仪式) C. A celebration party D. A great speech
29. What can we conclude from the passage according to the author?
A. A journalist(记者) who happened to be in the earthquake-stricken area.
B. A writer who collected materials for writing science fiction.
C. A tourist who was travelling in Sichuan during the earthquake.
D. A teacher who stayed with the students when the earthquake struck.
30. Why did some students laughed when they rushed to the door?
A. Because there were no more aftershocks. B. Because there would be no more classes.
C. Because they mistook the thunder as an aftershock. D. Because they were troubled by the terrible earthquake.
31. How might the author feel when he left Sichuan after July?
A. Relieved B. Surprised C. Shocked D. Disappointed
D
There was a time, not so long ago, when kids built castles, climbed trees, and rode bikes until dark. These outdoor adventures have not disappeared. They are just waiting to be rediscovered beyond screens.
While technology offers many benefits, the trend (趋势) of children having smartphones may change how they develop, play, and connect. According to TIME, much of the technology that kids are using is designed to be addictive. However, parents including Holly Moscatiello, the leader of the nonprofit The Balance Project, are helping children control the use of digital devices. She’s leading a counter-movement to get kids off screens and back into real life.
“We want to make experiencing community life as easy as using a phone,” she told TIME. The group is organizing community projects that make outdoor play exciting again, such as cycling to school together and Balance Boxes- kits with small toys and clay (黏土) for screen-free fun. It’s a simple reminder that independence and connection can develop when kids look up from their devices.
Moscatiello notes that smartphones have reshaped childhood nearly overnight: 89 percent of 12-year-old British kids own a smartphone and the average age of receiving one’s first phone is nine. To fight this, The Balance Project started a parent agreement in Oxfordshire, where parents of around 4,000 children promised not to give their kids smartphones until Year Nine (8th grade).
The goal of this group is solidarity — when everyone waits, no child feels left out. In one school in Oxfordshire, students lock their phones away during the day, and teachers report calmer classrooms. “Now we focus on school and study better,” a student at a smartphone-free school said.
By joining together, parents and communities are making it easier for the next generation to grow up rooted in real life instead of through a screen. Giving children back their time, freedom, and face-to-face friends is one of the best investments (投资) a parent can make towards a brighter future.
32. What does The Balance Project do to help children?
A. It teaches kids to use technology wisely. B. It offers free digital devices to poor families.
C. It trains parents to deal with screen addiction. D. It organizes activities to encourage outdoor play.
33. What can we learn about smartphone use from paragraph 4?
A. Many British kids refuse to use smartphones. B. Smartphones are common among British kids.
C. British kids get phones earlier than others. D. Most parents are against their kids using phones.
34. Which is closest in meaning to the underlined word “solidarity” in paragraph 5?
A. Teamwork. B. Progress. C. Curiosity D. Independence
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. Kids’ Outdoor Activities Disappear. B. Smartphones Bring Harm to Children.
C. The Balance Project Becomes Popular. D. Bring Back a Smartphone-Free Childhood.

Inventing campfire stories for children is easier than you might think. Use these easy tips for telling campfire stories that will make children of all ages happy.
36
When telling campfire stories to children, include a bunch of fun and strange names for the characters. If it is a humorous story, don’t be afraid to use silly things for names, like Snickers or Twix. If it is a scary story, you can use names like Mr. Blue Toes or Mrs. Scissor Arms.
Include animal characters.
Campfire stories are often the best when they include animals, especially ones that can be found in the woods. Ideas of animals to include are bears, mountain lions, deer, and squirrels. You try to make the bears gentle and the squirrels or deer the more aggressive (好斗的) ones. 37
Take turns.
No one says that a campfire story has to be told by one person from beginning to end. Take turns. 38 This will often result in unforeseen twists (反转) and cause tons of laughter.
Change your voice.
Do not use a single voice when telling campfire stories to children. 39 Talk in different tones and use a different infliction for each character. Alternate (交替) between whispering and talking louder.
Using these tips will make telling campfire stories fun and exciting. 40 Once you get going, the kids may beg for more stories, until your voice is sore (疼的). It will be well worth it.

Li Hua
67. 【答案】Mike raised and he found the other runners running at full speed. Refusing to give up at this crucial point, Mike clenched his teeth, jumped to his feet and ran as fast as he could. Finally, he was the fourth one to dash across the finish line. Mike couldn’t help sobbing at the thought of letting his sister down. But much to his surprise, the runner who collided with him was disqualified for breaking the rule and Mike won the third prize. Mike was on the top of the world and relieved during the award ceremony, holding the dictionary close to his chest.
Full of happiness, Mike went home hurriedly. He could not wait to see his sister and share the good news. On his arrival, Mike found Jane was walking about outside nervously and anxiously. “Jane, see what I have got for you.” Mike said excitedly, taking the prize out of his bag with his trembling hands. The instant Jane saw the dictionary, her face lit up. So thrilled was she that she threw herself at Mike. “Thank you! Mike.” Tears of joy welled up in their eyes as the brother and the sister hugged tightly together.
