The Origin of the Logo
WWF’s most famous logo features a black-and-white giant panda. The design was inspired by Xi Xi, a giant panda exhibited at London Zoo in 1961, which caused a great sensation at that time.
The designer chose black and white not only because pandas themselves are black and white, but also because this color scheme could lower the cost of black-and-white printing.
