It’s a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers. It’s unbelievably great. On the Fire Festival, drums beat a quick and regular rhythm (韵律) that locals’ dance to in a circle of bodies, men and women, the old and young, holding torches (火把) of burning grass above their heads, which stands for the light and getting off negative energies. At this moment, this festival is being held at the beginning of the lunar year. The locals are all so lost in the celebration that they don’t pay as much attention to us as they normally will. When they find us taking part just as actively as them, they dance more dynamically and cheer with joy. Danielle, a friend of mine in the Peace Corps, says, “That we join in the celebration is meaningful because foreigners here are typically seen as the representatives of other organizations, not as people who are willing to join in the Fire Festival rituals (仪式). But in fact, we are dancing and celebrating as one.” Our two-year Peace Corps service will finish up in mid-December. We can think of no better way to say goodbye than by celebrating the Fire Festival with the villagers we’ve come to know. The festival lets us see a different side of them — and lets them see a different side of us. The neighbors who sell rice are now the women who encourage us to run faster and dance harder at the Fire Festival. And rather than view us as low-key volunteers, they see us as the ones who have crazy dance steps with wild shouts. 24. Why did the author go to northern Ghana? A. To find a job. B. To go traveling. C. To study further. D. To do voluntary work. 25. How do the locals feel when seeing the author and Danielle join in the celebration? A. Excited. B. Concerned. C. Stressed. D. Disappointed. 26. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. The locals’ ways of celebrating the festival. B. The secrets of dancing well in the Fire Festival. C. The reasons for the author’s joining in the festival. D. The experience of helping the neighbors sell rice. 27. What can we learn from the text? A. Practice makes perfect. B. A small act of kindness means a lot. C. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. D. Where there is a will, there is a way. D 25. A 26. C 27. 根据第一段“It’s a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers.(在我们作为和平队社区志愿者来到这里的一个村庄生活之前,我们从未听说过这个节日。)” 根据第三段“When they find us taking part just as actively as them, they dance more dynamically and cheer with joy.(当他们发现我们和他们一样积极参与时,他们跳得更有活力,欢呼雀跃。)” 故选A。 根据第五段“We can think of no better way to say goodbye than by celebrating the Fire Festival with the villagers we’ve come to know. The festival lets us see a different side of them — and lets them see a different side of us.(我们想不出比和我们认识的村民一起庆祝火把节更好的告别方式了。这个节日让我们看到了他们不同的一面,也让他们看到了我们不同的一面。)”可知,最后一段主要讲述了作者参加火把节的原因和收获。故选C。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“Danielle, a friend of mine in the Peace Corps, says, ‘That we join in the celebration is meaningful because foreigners here are typically seen as the representatives of other organizations, not as people who are willing to join in the Fire Festival rituals (仪式). But in fact, we are dancing and celebrating as one.’(我在和平队的朋友Danielle说:‘我们参与这场庆典意义非凡,因为在这里,外国人通常被看作是其他机构的代表,而非愿意参与火把节仪式的人。但事实上,我们正和大家一同载歌载舞,融为一体。’)”以及全文讲述了作者入乡随俗、积极参与当地节日,可知本文契合“When in Rome, do as the Romans do.(入乡随俗)”的寓意。故选C。 C Faced with the growing dangers of climate change, scientists are thinking about a new plan: Moving animals in danger to new homes far from their old ones. This method, called assisted migration (迁徙), is meant to save these animals from rising temperatures and habitat (栖息地) loss. A recent example is the moving of the Tristram’s storm-petrel (海燕), a seabird that usually lives on low islands in Hawaii and Japan. Its main nesting place, Tern Island, is only 1.8 meters high and is being worn away by the sea. So, about 40 young birds were taken 800 kilometers away to Oahu. Biologist Erie VanderWerf of Pacific Rim Conservation said that climate change is making such actions more necessary. The hope is that one day, these birds can be brought back to their original home if the environment becomes better. This new way of protecting animals is becoming more accepted. There is a plan to change the Endangered Species Act to make it easier to move the most at-risk species to new places. Because of this, officials and scientists have named some animals and plants that might be moved, such as Florida’s Key deer, the Karner blue butterfly, and some desert plants and lizards. However, not everyone agrees with this plan. Some lawmakers say that putting new species into different ecosystems can cause problems we don’t expect, like creating invasive (入侵的) species or harming the environment in unknown ways. This discussion shows a big change in how we think about protecting nature. Jason McLachlan, a biologist at the University of Notre Dame, says this is a basic change in our way of saving species. Because climate change is forcing animals to move quickly, the idea of what is “native” is being questioned. In the past, climate changes happened very slowly, over thousands of years, so animals and plants had time to get used to them. But now, the change is too fast for many ecosystems. 28. Why were the storm-petrels moved to Oahu? A. The weather was too cold. B. Their home was in danger. C. Scientists needed to study them. D. Too many petrels lived on Tern Island. 29. What can we know about Florida’s Key deer? A. They live on high mountains. B. They are under good protection. C. They may be moved to new places. D. They are brought back to their home. 30. What is the lawmakers’ concern about the assisted migration? A. It costs too much money. B. It will change the existing laws. C. It can bring about more habitat loss. D. It may lead to unexpected problems. 31. What is Jason’s attitude to the assisted migration? A. Unfriendly. B. Uncertain. C. Supportive. D. Cautious. B 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第二段中的“Its main nesting place, Tern Island, is only 1.8 meters high and is being worn away by the sea. So, about 40 young birds were taken 800 kilometers away to Oahu. (它的主要筑巢地燕鸥岛海拔仅1.8米,正被海水侵蚀。因此,大约40只幼鸟被带到800公里外的瓦胡岛。)”可知,海燕被转移到瓦胡岛是因为它们的栖息地面临危险。故选B项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Because of this, officials and scientists have named some animals and plants that might be moved, such as Florida’s Key deer, the Karner blue butterfly, and some desert plants and lizards. (正因如此,官员和科学家列出了一些可能被转移的动植物,例如佛罗里达礁鹿、卡纳蓝蝴蝶以及一些沙漠植物和蜥蜴。)”可知,佛罗里达礁鹿可能会被转移到新的栖息地。故选C项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Some lawmakers say that putting new species into different ecosystems can cause problems we don’t expect, like creating invasive species or harming the environment in unknown ways. (一些立法者表示,将新物种引入不同的生态系统可能会引发意想不到的问题,比如产生入侵物种或以未知的方式破坏环境。)”可知,立法者担忧辅助迁徙可能会带来无法预料的问题。故选D项。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Jason McLachlan, a biologist at the University of Notre Dame, says this is a basic change in our way of saving species. Because climate change is forcing animals to move quickly, the idea of what is “native” is being questioned. (圣母大学生物学家杰森·麦克拉克伦表示,这是我们拯救物种方式的根本性变革。由于气候变化正迫使动物快速迁移,关于“本土物种”的定义也正受到质疑。)”可知,杰森认为辅助迁徙是顺应气候变化的物种保护新方式,由此可推断他对此策略的态度是支持的。故选C项。 D Titania Jordan, working at Bark Technologies, knows that parents today face a tough challenge: raising kids in a world filled with technology. That’s why she’s devoted to helping them navigate the digital landscape. “Parents need to be aware of what their children are exposed to online,” she stresses. “It’s not just about monitoring; it’s about understanding and leading them through this new world.” Jordan and her team work on developing tools that allow parents to protect their children from the dangers of the Internet. “We help parents filter out things like cyberbullying, inappropriate contents, and even potential attackers,” she explains. The platform sends warnings to parents when it detects something concerning, giving them the power to take action. Jordan believes that education is key. “We need to educate parents about the risks and how to talk to their kids about them,” she says. She often holds classes and talks, explaining why it’s important to talk openly and set good limits on how much technology we use. One of the biggest problems Jordan addresses is the fear of missing out that children experience when they see their friends posting about fun events which they’re not part of. “It’s crucial for parents to help their children understand that social media often shows the best parts, not reality,” she says. “We need to teach them to appreciate real-life experiences rather than comparing themselves to others online.” Jordan also stresses the importance of setting a good example. “Parents should model healthy tech habits,” she advises. “If parents are always on their phones, their kids will follow suit. But if parents show balance, it sends a strong message about the role of technology in our lives.” “Despite the challenges,” Jordan adds, “technology is here to stay, and we just need to ensure it’s used in a way that enriches our children’s lives, not harms them.” 32. What does Jordan suggest parents do when their children use the Internet? A. Offer instruction. B. Turn a blind eye. C. Monitor everything. D. Cut Internet access. 33. What does the underlined phrase “filter out” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Add. B. Remove. C. Keep. D. Mix. 34. How are parents advised to deal with their children’s fear of missing out? A. By asking them to post fun events. B. By showing them social media’s best parts. C. By setting a good example in communicating with teachers. D. By telling them to value reality over online comparisons. 35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. Internet Developments and Threats B. A Parent’s Guide in Kids’ Digital World C. Social Media and Mental Health in Teens D. The Impact of Technology on Child Development 【答案】32. A 33. B 34. D 35. 根据第一段“It’s not just about monitoring; it’s about understanding and leading them through this new world.(这不仅仅是关于监督;而是要理解并带领他们穿越这个新世界)”可知,Jordan建议父母在孩子使用网络时给予指导。故选A。 根据第四段“One of the biggest problems Jordan addresses is the fear of missing out that children experience when they see their friends posting about fun events which they’re not part of. “It’s crucial for parents to help their children understand that social media often shows the best parts, not reality,” she says. “We need to teach them to appreciate real-life experiences rather than comparing themselves to others online.”(Jordan解决的最大问题之一是孩子们害怕错过当他们看到他们的朋友发布他们没有参与的有趣事件时的体验。她说:“对父母来说,帮助孩子理解社交媒体经常展示的是最好的部分,而不是现实,这一点至关重要。我们需要教他们欣赏现实生活中的经历,而不是在网上和别人比较。”)”可知,父母可告知孩子要重视现实,而不是线上攀比来处理他们的错失感。故选D。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Titania Jordan, working at Bark Technologies, knows that parents today face a tough challenge: raising kids in a world filled with technology. That’s why she’s devoted to helping them navigate the digital landscape. “Parents need to be aware of what their children are exposed to online,” she stresses. “It’s not just about monitoring; it’s about understanding and leading them through this new world.”(在Bark Technologies工作的泰坦尼亚·乔丹知道,如今的父母面临着一个艰巨的挑战:在一个充满科技的世界里抚养孩子。 Ways of Studying and Learning Efficiently Choose a quiet place to study without distractions. The more time you spend studying, the more you’ll learn and the better grades you’ll earn. ____36____ So remove all distractions (cell phones, television, loud/fast-paced music, and talkative friends/family members), to ensure a calm, focused environment. Take short breaks from studying. ____37____ So plan to take a 10-minute break after each hour. If you get stuck on a certain topic, that’s a good time to take a little break so you can come back refreshed. Set a timer on your phone or another device so a short 10-minute breather doesn’t turn into 30 minutes of delay. ____38____ Reading books that challenge you can expand your vocabulary and comprehension skills, which is useful when a teacher assigns linguistically (语言方面的) difficult texts. If you are not already an active reader, start at your level and work your way up. Study for quizzes and tests early. If you have a big test coming up, start studying a few days to a week before the test, or even when the test is announced. Make a study schedule, breaking up your time into sections, and stick to it. ____39____ Create mind maps of topics to help you learn new things. Mind-maps help you make connections between old and new information. ____40____ This practice is especially useful when you need to brainstorm ideas for big projects. A strong wind blew through the streets, but Jack hardly noticed the cold. As a food delivery rider, he had just finished several easy orders. His hands felt warm from holding the hot milk tea cups, and he was in quite a good mood. When he walked out of the milk tea shop, he found the place where he had parked his second-hand electric bike was empty. At once, his heart sank, and a feeling of hopelessness washed over him. What had been a peaceful evening turned into a terrible dream. That bike was more than just a way to travel. It was his only way to make money every day and pay for his daily life. Jack began to feel worried. He remembered the orders he still had to send out—especially a cup of hot milk tea for Ms. White, who often ordered from him. His hand shook as he pressed the voice button. He spoke sadly and nervously, saying sorry many times and offering to pay for the milk tea he couldn’t deliver. To his big surprise, Ms. White was not angry or unhappy at all. Instead, she spoke to him softly and kindly. She told Jack not to worry and to take his time looking for his bike. Her understanding made him feel calmer, but it also made him want to take his responsibility more seriously. “She’s so nice. I can’t let her down,” he thought. For almost two hours, he searched every street nearby, but he couldn’t find his bike anywhere. As it got darker and the wind felt colder, Jack made up his mind. He used his poor savings to buy a bag of fresh apples and a new cup of hot milk tea. Then he started walking to Ms. White’s apartment, which was several kilometers away. The wind cut through his thin coat, and mud made his old shoes heavy. But thinking about keeping his promise and being honest pushed him forward through the dark, quiet city streets. Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Deeply moved by Jack’s action, Ms. White decided to share the story online that night. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell. When the door opened, he bowed his head in shame, his face red with cold and embarrassment. Before she could speak, Jack handed over the apples and the milk tea, with both hands. “I’m so sorry for the trouble. I couldn’t let your kindness go unanswered.” Seeing Jack trembling in the cold wind with mud on his shoes, Ms. White was completely shocked. She warmly invited him inside and handed him a cup of hot water. Jack quickly explained what had happened to his bike, his voice full of sadness. Instead of accepting the apples, she insisted on giving him money for them and the drink, telling him he was too kind and responsible. Deeply moved by Jack’s action, Ms. White decided to share the story online that night. She wrote about Jack’s honesty and sense of duty, posting photos of the apples and hot milk tea. The story soon spread widely and touched many people. Someone even offered to help Jack get a new electric bike. Strangers praised him as a model delivery rider. For Jack, this terrible evening turned out to be a warm experience. He learned that honesty and kindness would always be rewarded, and this unforgettable memory would encourage him to keep being a good person in his life. 词汇激活 行为类 递给:handed/gave 打动:touched/moved 明白了:learned/realized 情绪类 震惊的:shocked/surprised 善良:kindness/goodness 【点睛】[高分句型1]. C Faced with the growing dangers of climate change, scientists are thinking about a new plan: Moving animals in danger to new homes far from their old ones. A. Unfriendly. B. Uncertain. C. Supportive. D. Cautious. D Titania Jordan, working at Bark Technologies, knows that parents today face a tough challenge: raising kids in a world filled with technology. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $请看听力部分第一节,第一节听下面五段录音,每段录音后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。 The new book i'm writing is terrible.
