Fast food is changing our lives in ways people might not notice. It has been gradually (逐步地) taking the place of the traditional family meal. In the past, dinner was a time for family to share stories and for kids to learn from their parents. Now, eating quickly is more important than enjoying good food or spending time together. Fast food leads us to hurry, not to wait patiently.
Another problem is that fast food makes the world have fewer differences. Wherever you go, the menu is similar. It seems a one-size-fits-all meal—hamburgers, potato chips, and sugary drinks. Local food traditions and cultures are greatly influenced by the same offering.
Health is also a big problem. Fast food usually contains too much fat, salt, and sugar. Studies show that it can make people put on weight and cause diseases like heart problems.
Sadly, the poorest communities suffer most. It’s no surprise that fast food restaurants are often found there and there’s not enough affordable and healthy food. Even though it harms their health over time, they still have a large amount of fast food.
Of course, fast food is convenient for busy modern life and we may not be able to completely avoid fast food. But we must understand its dangers—it’s harmful to health and social structures (结构). Food isn’t just something to eat—it’s about culture, family, and connection. Realizing the dangers of fast food is the first step towards change. By valuing real meals again, we can protect our traditions, health, and relationships. Let’s not allow fast food to take away what truly matters in life.
4. What role did dinner play in the past?
A. It was a time to eat fast food quickly.
B. It was a time for family to share stories and kids to learn from parents.
C. It was a time to go to restaurants.
D. It was a time to watch TV together.
5. According to the passage, how many bad influences (影响) of fast food are mentioned?
A. 2 B. 3 C. 4 D. 5
6. What does the underlined word “matters” mean in the last sentence “Let’s not allow fast food to take away what truly matters in life”?
A. happens B. is important C. is different D. is popular
7. What does the writer think of fast food according to the passage?
A. It is healthy and delicious.
B. It is useless and we should refuse it completely.
C. It is popular and has no problems.
D. It is convenient but has many bad influences.
【答案】4. B 5. C 6. B 7. D

Studies show that it can make people put on weight and cause diseases like heart problems.”指出它危害健康;第四段“Sadly, the poorest communities suffer most..”指出贫困社区受其影响最深。共提到4点不良影响。
【6题详解】
根据最后一段前文“Food isn’t just something to eat—it’s about culture, family, and connection.”可知,作者强调这些是生活中真正重要的东西。因此“matters”在此处意为“重要(is important)”。
【7题详解】
根据最后一段第一句“Of course, fast food is convenient for busy modern life…But we must understand its dangers.”作者认为快餐虽然方便,但也存在许多负面影响。
C
Phones can help with navigation (导航) on road trips, but they can also take your attention away, which is dangerous. In America, it was reported that 324,819 people got connected to distracted (分心的) driving accidents in 2023, leading to 3,275 deaths. That meant 890 accidents each day connected to driving while distracted.
In order to examine distracted driving problems among teenagers, researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital had over 1,100 teen drivers complete a question paper. They also had in-person interviews with 20 high school drivers. Even though most of the teens said they understood the dangers of distracted driving, they said they used their phones for 21.1% of the time when they were driving.
Even more shocking are the reasons why the teens reported looking at their phones behind the wheel: 65% of the time was spent on watching videos for fun; 40% of the time was for texting; and 30% of the time was for navigation.
“Driving distracted doesn’t just put the driver at risk; it puts everyone else on the road in danger,” said the study leader Rebecca Robbins. “The findings from the study can help us deal with the problems of teen distracted driving in the future. For example, we can help our kids set ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode (“勿扰”模式) before driving or place phones out of their reach while driving.”
8. How does the writer explain how dangerous distracted driving is?
A. By telling stories. B. By listing numbers.
C. By giving examples. D. By making comparisons.
9. What did the study find according to Paragraph 2?
A. Phones were mainly used for navigation.
B. Some teens never use phones while driving.
C. Few teens understood the dangers of distracted driving.
D. Teens spent over one-fifth of each car trip on their phones.
10. What does the phrase “connected to” mean in the sentence “That meant 890 accidents each day connected to driving while distracted”?
A. 与……相关 B. 连接到 C. 接通电话 D. 被连接
11. What’s the writer’s main purpose of writing the passage?
A. To tell readers that phones are useful for navigation.
B. To show how many people died in 2023 traffic accidents.
C. To teach teens how to watch videos safely while driving a car.
D. To explain why teens use phones while driving and give advice.
【答案】8. B 9. D 10. A 11. D

【9题详解】
根据第二段“Even though most of the teens said they understood the dangers of distracted driving, they said they used their phones for 21.1% of the time when they were driving.”可知,青少年承认开车时21.1%的时间使用手机,即超过五分之一的车程。
【10题详解】
划线短语“connected to”出现在“...890 accidents each day connected to driving while distracted.”中,结合前后语境,作者在说明分心驾驶的危害,用数字表明事故与分心驾驶之间的因果关系或关联性。因此,“connected to”在此处应理解为“与……相关”。
【11题详解】

Are Flying Cars Coming?
With more and more new ways to get around, like shared bikes and self-driving cars, many people are asking, “Will we ever have flying cars?” The answer is, well, maybe!
How do these flying cars work? They move a bit like helicopters (直升机). They take off by going straight up from a parking lot or driveway (私人车道). Then, they fly through the air to where they need to go.
Would people like to drive a flying car? Why not? People could drive it up in the sky and wouldn’t have to slow down for bumps (隆起) or holes in the roads. Flying cars will move faster than traditional cars. No more sitting in traffic! People will get to work or school in record time.
What about the planet? We all know that cars and trucks let out carbon dioxide (CO2), which isn’t good for the environment. But flying cars will run on electricity (电能) and be much better for the earth than traditional cars. In 2016, a study found that flying cars would cut carbon dioxide by 35% to 52%!
▲ No one knows for sure. Some say it could be soon. Others think it’ll never happen. They believe too many problems stand in the way of making flying cars a reality—How much noise and pollution will flying cars make? What rules and tests do flying cars need to be safe? Who will make sure flying cars don’t run into each other? Will flying cars be too expensive to repair?
However, don’t give up on the dream of flying cars yet! Technology is getting better every day. Some companies are working hard to make this dream come true, including Boeing, Airbus SE, and Alphabet Inc. The next breakthrough (突破) could be just around the corner, and flying cars might become a reality soon. It’s just a matter of time!

第一节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

While most teens are busy with sports, friends, and online games, Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is working to save the planet. He is an environmental activist (积极分子). He is one of the most famous environmental activists in the world.
So how does a teenager become a famous environmental activist?
“I grew up in a family where people were always thinking about the environment,” says Xiuhtezcatl.
When Xiuhtezcatl was just 6 years old, he decided he had to do something about climate (气候) change—a serious environmental problem. Scientists have been studying climate change for many years. They know that Earth’s climate changes on its own over time. But right now, it is changing more and more quickly than usual because of pollution created by people—from the cars, trucks, and planes we use, and the coal and oil we burn for electricity.
Xiuhtezcatl points out that climate change is a serious problem. “People can feel very helpless about climate change, like there is nothing they can do,” he says. But that is not true. “Humans caused climate change, and we can try to solve it.” Xiuhtezcatl says.
Xiuhtezcatl began looking for ways to solve it when he was just a little kid. His older siblings (brothers and sisters) ran an environmental group called Earth Guardians, which was started by their mum. First, he listened when they had meetings. Soon, he was travelling around the country and the world. His goal? To educate and inspire people to join the fight against climate change.
Today, Xiuhtezcatl runs Earth Guardians. The group works with thousands of kids around the world. He speaks to students in classrooms about steps they can take to help the planet. And he writes and performs hip-hop songs about the environment. He believes that if many people change their habits, we can reduce the causes of climate change.

12. Which of the following questions can be answered in Paragraph 3?
A. How soon will flying cars meet the public?
B. What kind of roads can flying cars use to take off?
C. What good things will flying cars bring to people?
D. How can people solve the problems with flying cars?
13. How are flying cars better than traditional cars according to Paragraph 4?
A. They are safer. B. They are greener.
C. They are less expensive. D. They are more comfortable.
14. What’s the best question for “▲” in Paragraph 5?
A. When will we have flying cars?
B. Who is going to travel in flying cars?
C. Why will we still need traditional cars?
D. What are we going to do about traditional cars?
15. The writer wrote the passage mainly to get people excited about ________.
A. the latest technology in producing flying cars
B. the biggest progress in making flying cars
C. the possibility of having flying cars in the future
D. the challenge of driving flying cars on one’s own

While most teens are busy with sports, friends, and online games, Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is working to save the planet. He is an environmental activist (积极分子). He is one of the most famous environmental activists in the world.

“I grew up in a family where people were always thinking about the environment,” says Xiuhtezcatl.
