Come and Discover the Roots of Shanghai
Guangfulin Relics Park (广富林遗址公园) is about four kilometers away from Sheshan Hill.
In 1958, while digging a new waterway, some local farmers found several pieces of ancient pottery. In 1961, archaeologists (考古学家) began a serious study there. They discovered a large number of pottery vases, spinning wheels, dishes and knives. They also discovered two tombs (坟墓). These discoveries proved the existence of a 4,000-year-old culture. As the relics park was built right on this historical site, people call it a window into the history of Shanghai.
The park includes a farmland protection area, a cultural zone and a Chinese-style water town. Rice, corn, sunflowers, pears and peaches are grown in the farmland zone. The water town provides a perfect place for tourists to stay the night.
The cultural zone is the most important part of the park. It consists of ten museums and memorial halls(纪念堂). The most popular one is the Guangfulin Cultural Museum. It’s built underwater with its roofs on the surface.
You can find many shops, cafés and teahouses in the park. Visitors can find a quiet place with books and tea at the Duoyun Bookstore, for example. Events like lantern shows and archaeological lectures are held in the park throughout the year.

Be a green AI user
Do you care about the environment? If so, you might feel a bit unsure about using AI chatbots after learning how they work. Every time you ask an AI chatbot a question, the data centers behind it use electricity to “think” and respond. In the process, these high-performance computers will 65 greatly. Keeping those powerful computers cool requires large amounts of fresh water.
Asking AI one or two, or even a thousand questions won’t 66 the Earth much. But consider what would happen if billions of people used AI at the same time. These small environmental costs would quickly add up.
That doesn’t mean you have to avoid using AI. However, you can be more thoughtful about when and how you use it.
For 67 tasks, such as checking a store’s opening hours, a traditional search engine is usually the better choice. A normal web search uses about ten times less energy than asking AI. If you have a trickier question, then it’s worth turning to an AI chatbot.
In some cases, using AI may even be better for the environment than doing the task yourself. 68 , an AI model can create a picture in about a minute. Drawing the same picture yourself might take an hour on your computer. During that time, you and your computer would use as much or even more energy.
“The real question isn’t, ‘Will AI impact the environment?’ It 69 will,” said Bill Tomlinson, a computer science professor. “You should ask yourself, ‘What would you do instead? What are you replacing?”
AI models use more energy for every extra word they process. For this reason, you can save energy by asking AI for brief answers when long ones aren’t 70 Also, keep your questions short and to the point. There’s no need to add “please” or “thank you.” The AI model won’t take it personally.

Lucy is a 14-year-old girl. She really likes classical music, such as famous piano compositions (作品). She said the music makes her feel calm and relaxed. But her best friend p 71 rock music.
Everyone has different opinions, and it is okay to express your true thoughts. However, you should be careful about how you express them.
To start with, listen carefully to other people. You may be eager (热切的) to explain your side. However, listening to others explain their points of view f 72 will help keep the conversation calm. You will also better understand their sides, says Teen Vogue.
Next, express your own opinion p 73 . Remember, you’re not trying to start an argument. Don’t express yourself too eagerly. Winning or losing is not the point. Don’t try to force your friend to think like you.
Last but most importantly, show your friends that you value your friendship, even if you d 74 about some things. This can prevent both of you from becoming too emotional. In Lucy’s case, she could try this: “I know you really like rock music, but I’m afraid it’s just not my cup of tea. I like classical music better. I think if I could find a rock version (版本) of a piano composition, it would be fun to share it with you.” In the future, you may have different opinions with many people, i 75 your parents and friends. In fact, this can be a good thing. You can even learn from it. For example, sometimes you may not realize that your ideas are wrong. But by sharing them with others, you have a c 76 to learn, according to Li Songwei, a Beijing-based psychologist.
Also, expressing different opinions openly makes you look more c 77 . The ability of trusting yourself will develop over time and can shape your personality.

All the Difference in The World
Every Sunday morning I take a light jog around a park near my home. There’s a lake located in one corner of the park. Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge. And there is always a small metal cage beside her.
Last Sunday, I got so curious and wanted to find out what she was doing, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her. As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap. There were three turtles, unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap. She held a fourth turtle in her lap and was cleaning it carefully with a soft brush.
“Hello,” I said. “I see you here every Sunday morning. What are you doing with these turtles?”
“I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied. “The algae (海藻) on a turtle’s shell reduces its ability to absorb heat and makes it harder for it to swim.”
“Wow! That’s really nice of you!” I exclaimed.
She went on: “I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning, relaxing by this lake and helping these little guys out. It’s my own strange way of making a difference.”
“But I thought most freshwater turtles live their whole lives with algae on their shells” I said.
“Yes, sadly, they do,” she replied.
I scratched (挠) my head. “Well then, don’t you think your time could be better spent? I mean, I know you are a kind person, but there are fresh water turtle living in lakes all around the world. And 99% of these turtles don’t have kind people like you to help them clean off their shells. So… how exactly is your work here really helping?”
The woman laughed out loud. She then looked down at the turtle in her lap, scrubbed off the last piece of algae from its shell, and said, “Sweetie, if this little guy could talk, he’d tell you I just made all the difference in the world.”
That day, I learned an important life lesson from the elderly woman. I realized that 83 .

Today, over half of the Chinese people live in cities. People go abroad to find a better way of life, like workers from neighboring countries moving to Germany to work in factories.
What’s more, people want to move to places that have good services, as such places can also be cleaner and safer to live in. Sometimes people move to areas called suburbs. Suburbs have more space for schools, hospitals, clinics, shopping malls and zoos.
Finally, people move when they want a change in their lives, or to find new experiences. Older people often move to places with better weather. If students want to learn about other places, they sometimes go to universities in other countries.
As you can see, people move for many reasons. Maybe someday you, or someone you know, will move, too!
