used to缺少谓语动词,is used to和was used to表示“习惯于”,均不符合语境。
As for“至于”、Every time“每次”和Ever since“自从”逻辑不符。
根据下文,open作形容词表示“开放的”,has been open表示持续的状态,能和for a long time连用,符合逻辑。has opened是短暂动词,不能接时间段;has been on用于节目或电影的上演;has been opened与语境不符,表达不够自然。
根据上下文,固定结构how to do sth.

Scientists in California have discovered a new kind of snailfish. It lives more than 3 kilometers under the Pacific Ocean. But if you were imagining a large, 6 creature, you’d be wrong. One researcher even called it “adorable”.
These snailfish are strange little creatures. They have big heads and jelly-like bodies. There are no scales on their loose skin. Many have a special disc on their bellies. It lets them 7 onto the sea floor, or even catch a ride on an animal like a crab. Some snailfish live in shallow areas of the ocean. They curl up on rocks like a snail. 8 live in the deep ocean.
To explore the deep sea, scientists 9 a small submarine and a robot. The robot’s cameras spotted a pink snailfish about the size of a deck of cards. The team also found two other unusual snailfish. One was very black and the other was long and thin.
One scientist said, “Studying these tiny deep-sea fish shows how 10 we know about the ocean. These snailfish are a reminder of the power of curiosity and exploration.”

此处需要一个动词原形,在句中与“let them”构成“let sb. do sth.”

Do you know how many kinds of plants and animals 11 in the world? Experts believe there are between 8 and 14 million, but right now we only know about 1.5 million. However, scientists 12 new plant and animal species (物种) all the time—and that’s good news for us.
In 2009, a university professor 13 Christopher Austin and his student Eric Rittmeyer discovered a new animal species. They were in Papua New Guinea, studying the wildlife on the island. One evening, they were in the jungle listening to animal sounds. The most common sound was the noise of frogs croaking loudly. But there was another sound—a much softer, high-pitched one that sounded like it came from something much smaller.
At first, they couldn’t locate the sound, but after some time, they realized it came from the ground. They searched through the grass and dead leaves carefully, but what they found surprised them. It was a tiny frog just seven millimeters (毫米) long. “This frog has a call 14 doesn’t sound like a frog at all,” said Austin. The frog they discovered was the smallest in the world!
Researchers believe that frogs are important because they help keep the environment clean. We can also use them to create new medicines. Whenever we find a new species, we learn new things. For that reason, scientists work very hard to find new plants and animals every day. But their jobs are getting more difficult. The forests that these animals live in are disappearing quickly. And, sadly, 15 are the animals.

Weeks passed, then months. 18 appeared above the soil. I began to feel disappointed. “Maybe it’s dead,” I told my grandfather. He simply smiled and said, “Some things require faith and 19 .” Though I didn’t want to, I still kept watering the empty patch of earth every day.
A year later, a tiny green shoot finally came out. It grew slowly—painfully slowly. During my secondary school years, that plant became a symbol of my own 20 . There were times I wanted to give up on both the plant and myself, especially when there was too much pressure. But remembering my grandfather’s words, I kept going.
Five years after planting, it finally bloomed. The sight took my breath away: a fantastic tree peony with flowers as large as dinner plates. All those years of 21 finally paid off!
My grandfather 22 the following spring, but he left me with more than just a beautiful plant. He taught me that the most 23 things in life—character, wisdom, meaningful relationships—all need time and patience to mature. True growth happens unseen, under the surface, where roots grow deep and strong.
Today, whenever I face challenges that test my patience, I remember that seed, a reminder of my grandfather’s 24 . The lesson wasn’t really about gardening; it was about learning to trust the process, to value slow development, and to believe some things are worth 25 .

Tea has long been a popular drink in China. Chinese people love different kinds of tea. Among them, black tea and white tea from Fujian, green tea from Zhejiang and Anhui, and dark tea from Yunnan are some of the favourites.
In the Song Dynasty (960-1279), tea culture reached new heights. The beauty of the Song tea came alive through “dian cha”. Powdered (粉状的) tea was whisked (搅打) with water into soft “clouds”. White tea was often used to make the “clouds” as white as the moonlight. Tea artists used clean water to draw pictures on them with a teaspoon. The way of serving dian cha became a living art. It later influenced Japanese tea culture. Today, more young people are learning and passing it on.
Yunnan’s dark tea, especially Pu’er, got famous because of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. And it won popularity around the world. In 1976, Frenchman Fred Kempler found a new kind of Pu’er from Yunnan in a Hong Kong shop. In the same year, he visited Yunnan, bought nearly two tons, and began to sell “Yunnan Tuocha” in Europe. Since 1986, Yunnan’s Pu’er Tuocha has got many prizes at food expos (博览会) in France, America and other countries. Today you can see an old Australian lady holding a cup of tea of sun-dried Pu’er, though she still enjoys her English-style black tea with milk and sugar. Tea is a bridge of friendship among nations and peoples.
Tea is enjoyed timelessly from ancient to modern times. Each cup of dian cha, white as the moonlight, turned tea into art, and art into eternity (永恒). Tea is also loved globally from the east to the west. Each cup of Pu’er, with the smell of sunshine, turns tea into friendship, and friendship into a shared future.
29.What kind of tea was often used for dian cha according to the passage?
A.Black tea. B.Green tea. C.Dark tea. D.White tea.
30.When did Fred Kempler begin to sell “Yunnan Tuocha” in Europe?
A.In 1986. B.In 1976. C.In 1279. D.In 960.
31.Which sentence uses “globally” with the same meaning as the underlined word?
Globally /'gləʊbəli/ adv. ①
A.Globally, our class did well in the English test.
B.The Olympic Games bring people together globally.
C.The story is globally interesting though some parts are slow.
D.This maths question needs you to consider the numbers globally.

C
If you spend hours watching short videos, you might find it hard to focus on a book or a long movie. Recent studies suggest that short videos are changing the way our brains work—and scientists are now discovering the chemical reasons behind it.
In February 2026, a new study published in the journal Neurolmage (神经影像学杂志) revealed important findings about what happens inside our brains when we watch short videos. Researchers used brain scanning technology to watch the brains of 56 young adults as they scrolled through short videos. They found that when people watched videos they really liked, two key brain areas became less active. These areas—the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (背侧前扣带皮层) and the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (背外侧前额叶皮层)—help us control our attention and make plans.
The study also discovered something new: a brain chemical called glutamate (谷氨酸) plays an important role. People with higher levels of glutamate showed less suppression in these brain areas, meaning they might be better at keeping self-control while watching videos.
Another 2025 study from China found even more worrying results. Researchers examined brain scans of 111 people and discovered that those who watched too many short videos had structural changes in their brains. The “reward center” of their brains grew larger, making them more sensitive to the pleasure of videos. At the same time, the area responsible for self-control became less active. The study also linked this to over 500 genes related to brain development.
So what does this mean for you? When you watch short videos, your brain gets used to quick changes and instant rewards. This makes it harder to focus on longer tasks like reading or studying. Your brain might even struggle to remember things because it’s trained to jump from one thing to another.
But there is good news. The brain can change back. Research shows that after taking a break from short videos, their brain activity improved. The bad effects can be reversed.
So, short videos are not all bad, but too many can make our brains lazy. We should find a balance between short videos and longer activities like reading books.
32.What do the two key brain areas help people do?
A.Enjoy more pleasure. B.Control attention and make plans.
C.Produce more glutamate. D.Change brain genes.
33.What advantage do people with higher glutamate levels have?
A.They never get tired of videos.
B.They have better self-control when watching videos.
C.Their reward center becomes larger.
D.They can remember things much better.
34.Which is one result of watching too many short videos?
A.It is easier to focus on reading.
B.The self-control brain area is more active.
C.The brain’s reward center grows larger.
D.Brain genes stop developing.
35.What does the passage mainly tell us?
A.Short videos change our brains and the bad effects can be reversed.
B.How to improve our brain power in daily life.
C.The introduction of two famous brain studies.
D.Glutamate is the most important chemical in our brain.
【答案】32.B 33.B 34.C 35.A

Hello there! I’m one of the Unitree G1 humanoid robots. Let me tell you my story, straight from my own metal-and-motor heart.
▲ Since day one, engineers at Unitree dreamed big: robots that could balance, sprint, leap and adapt. They gave me LiDAR, depth cameras and advanced motion control systems, and taught me how to stand firm, walk steadily, and finally dance.
Robots like me practised hard before the night of 16 February, when hundreds of millions tuned in to watch the 2026 Spring Festival Gala.
Then came the moment. I stepped onto one of the world’s brightest stages, right on cue with my fellow robots. We were there to perform.
At one point, I leapt into the air and flipped before landing squarely on my feet. The audience watched in awe before breaking into applause. Some of us even performed moves inspired by kung fu—all while children shared the stage with us.
At one dramatic moment, one of us suddenly fell flat on his back. Just as the audience began to wonder what was happening, he rose smoothly to his feet. It turned out to be a trick—a classic drunken boxing move.
Last year, robots first appeared at the Spring Festival Gala, twirling handkerchiefs and performing simple movements. We’ve improved a lot since then!
Videos of this year’s show have gone viral online. People replay the flips. They slow down the kicks. “It looks like something straight out of a sci-fi film,” one comment reads. At the same time, they ask, “What will robots do next?”
That question excites me. Because the gala stage is only the beginning. In the future, robots like me may work in places where people need extra hands, such as care settings and disaster zones.
And of course, some of us may remain in entertainment and education—performing, teaching, inspiring curiosity in children who look at us and think, “I want to build something like that one day.”
The gala was my debut. The future is my next stage. And I am ready to step forward.
36.Which of the following fits best in the ▲ ?
A.I wasn’t built to sit quietly on a shelf.
B.I was created in a large factory in China.
C.People often believe robots are only cold machines.
D.Many robots are built for display rather than action.
37.The drunken boxing move was designed to ________.
A.test whether the robot could recover from a fall
B.create a surprising moment for the audience
C.show the robot’s control over its movements
D.introduce the robot’s new performance style
38.How does the writer show the robots’ progress?
A.By giving detailed numbers about their training.
B.By comparing this year’s show with last year’s.
C.By describing their appearance in a scientific way.
D.By explaining how engineers improved the robots.
39.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Robots will focus mostly on performing and teaching.
B.Robots are already widely used in disaster rescue.
C.Robots are becoming popular with young people.
D.Robots may take on different kinds of social roles.
40.Why does the writer tell the story in the first person?
A.To explain technical details more clearly.
B.To make the story more personal and lively.
C.To show how robots are controlled.
D.To present the gala in a relaxed tone.
【答案】36.D 37.B 38.B 39.D 40.B

Soon, a red flag with the words “Shengqian Yingge Team” led the way, followed by a big group of 48 (energy) dancers. The performers wore bright, colorful clothes and carried wooden sticks. The biggest surprise was seeing my uncle dance! After the show, he told me that Yingge Dance came from old stories about heroes. trust gifts out of difficulty instead of make a difference
Have you ever wanted to know why some of your classmates learn harder and never give up easily? The answer lies in the Pygmalion Effect—a special mind power that turns people’s thoughts into real-life changes. It is said that once a man named Pygmalion made a sculpture of a woman 51 a stone. He strongly believed that the woman would come to life and became his wife. His dream did come true at last! This tale explains how hopes influence results—if you 52 your ability, you can work harder to achieve success. For example, in a study, a teacher told some non-top students that they had 53 for Math and Science. By the end of the term, those students’ test scores improved a lot because of the teacher’s strong trust. Similarly, encouragements in our daily life also 54 . “You’re a great teammate!” or “You can do this!” will push you to try harder. Remember that your mind is like a garden. Plant “I can try” 55 “I can’t”. Water it with efforts and over time, just as Pygmalion’s strong wish brought the stone to be alive, your efforts will grow into something beautiful.
51.out of 52.trust 53.gifts 54.make a difference 55.instead of

根据“encouragements in our daily life also…” 故填make a difference。
根据“I can try”和“I can’t”可知,前后为对立观点,需填入表替代的短语,instead of“而不是”,符合对比逻辑。故填instead of。

Every year on the 13th day of the first lunar month, a small village named Majie in Baofeng County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, becomes a busy cultural gathering place. It’s the Majie Book Fair, which was included in the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006 and has a long past of over 700 years, known as one of China’s “Top 10 Folk Customs” that carries rich traditional culture.
As the sun rises gently, Majie’s fields and roads are crowded with hundreds of thousands of people from nearby towns and villages. Thousands of folk storytellers from across the country gather here with their musical tools, such as drums and stringed instruments. The loud drumbeats and gentle string music fill the air, and different kinds of folk arts mix together harmoniously, turning the wide wheat fields into a large outdoor theater full of energy and vitality.
In fact, the fair is a special folk art event held in the wheat fields, an important carrier of Chinese folk art. Storytellers bring various wonderful shows, such as long stories and short skits, and buyers “get” the joy of performances for village temple fairs or family celebrations in the coming year. Local families are kind and warm-hearted, offering free food and accommodation (住宿) to the storytellers, making them feel at home in this strange village. Storytellers travel thousands of miles to come here for a good chance to make money and support their families. Majie is also a “holy land” (圣地) for them to communicate, share ideas and gain experience from each other.
Hundreds of thousands of local people come for pleasure after the Spring Festival, and small vendors set up stalls to sell delicious food and interesting toys from local areas, making the fair more lively and attractive.
As a precious (珍贵的) cultural heritage of China, the Majie Book Fair is not just a trade of performances and money, but also a precious reminder of the land’s emotion (情感) and people’s memories. But the saying doesn’t tell the whole story. I agree that you shouldn’t judge a book only by its cover. But please don’t miss the cover either. The cover is the f 67 thing you see. Everything on the cover, front and back, is purposefully designed to make you want to buy and read the book. The cover is only part of the book, but it’s an important p 68 . The cover tells you the title and the writer’s name. Sometimes that’s enough to make you pick it up. On the b 69 , you can find a short summary (总结) of the story, and maybe some reviews. The picture, colors, and fonts (字体) also give you an idea of what the book is about.
As a writer, I know how important a good cover is. Several years ago, I p 70 a book called “Under the Almond Trees”. I asked a cover designer to use an old photo as the model for the cover. I wanted color rather than black and white, though. I was very happy with the result. But later, I realized s 71 was missing. I liked the blue sky, the flowers on the trees and the color of the font, but the feel just didn’t scream, “Pick me up!”
So I asked a 72 designer to do it again. I remember telling her that I liked the design, but something was off. Her new design was s 73 . The almond trees, the blue sky and flowers were still t 74 . But the colors and fonts were better. It was nothing I could have described, but the new cover was a success. It was even chosen as a finalist in a cover design competition!
So whether you are t 75 to judge a book by its cover or not, I know such judging happens. Readers decide whether to pick up a book or not based on the cover information. As a result, it’s important to remember that the cover matters.

In my opinion, junior high school students can use AI technology in learning.
Firstly, it helps us get rich learning resources. We can access various materials like e-books and online courses easily. Secondly, when we have questions, AI can provide quick help, saving a lot of time. Additionally, AI-powered language learning tools can improve our oral English through real-time pronunciation correction.
Though AI technology can be used in learning, I think we mustn’t rely on it too much. We should use AI as a tool to assist learning, not a replacement for our own thinking. Only in this way can we make good use of AI in our studies.

Here are more tips to stay hopeful:
* Make a hope cloud: Write what you hope for on a cloud-shaped paper. Write at least one thing you can do to get closer to your dream. Put it where you can see it to remind yourself.
* Keep good habits: Exercise every day. Play or listen to music. Volunteer to help others. Spend time in nature, like going for a bike ride.

The new term has started at Sunshine Middle School. Our school has added some interesting courses this year. I’m most excited about 41 (化学) class, because we will do lots of cool experiments in the lab.
During the break, you can always see students running and talking loudly in the 42 (走廊). It’s dangerous and may cause accidents. So our teachers tell us that we should 43 (表现) well both in and out of class. Good manners are important for everyone.
Last month, our class watched a video about children in mountain villages. They 44 (遭受) from a lack(缺乏) of food and warm clothes during the cold winters there. We were all deeply touched. We decided to help them and collected many things for them.
Helping others makes us become more 45 (真诚的). I feel really happy when I know I can make someone’s day better.
In recent years, we have learned a lot about Yingge dance from social media. Its exciting performance at the 2025 Spring Festival Gala also 46 (impress) many people.
This winter vacation, I went back to my hometown, Shantou, a place known for its rich culture and traditions. Luckily, I had the chance to watch Yingge dance up close. I stood on the street with many locals and visitors, 47 (wait) for the performers to arrive. Soon, a red flag with the words “Shengqian Yingge Team” led the way, followed by a big group of 48 (energy) dancers. The performers wore bright, colorful clothes and carried wooden sticks. I heard the sound of gongs (锣) and sticks. They moved their sticks skillfully, making them seem like part of their bodies. Sometimes, they shouted, making the performance even 49 (excited). The mix of music, movement, and sound brought joy to everyone.
The biggest surprise was seeing my uncle dance! After the show, he told me that Yingge Dance came from old stories about heroes. We made the dance faster and the clothes more colorful to interest young people. I realized they weren’t just keeping the tradition, but also changing it for today. That’s why Shantou now has over 50 Yingge teams, many with 50 (teenage) members. By mixing old and new ideas, Yingge dance helps people love their culture and feel connected. Traditions can stay alive if we pass them on in creative ways.

trust gifts out of difficulty instead of make a difference

You may know the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” It means you shouldn’t judge the worth or value of something by its a 66 alone.
