Have you ever heard “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”? It may sound like an unusual piece of advice, but it is true--the first impression someone has of you when meeting you for the first time will probably influence how that person treats you or reacts to you in the future.
What is even more interesting is that the brain takes in all the information to create that first impression in about three seconds. When you meet someone for the first time, by the time you have stated your name or shaken hands, the other person has already formed an opinion about the kind of person you are.
So how do you make a good first impression? All things grown-ups tell you—such as being polite, and being well—dressed—are very important. However, the most important tool for making a good first impression is your face. Smiling and looking like you are happy will almost always leave a positive (积极的)impression on people, especially those who do not know you. Most people, generally speaking, are ready to smile back when they are smiled at.
Furthermore, smiling and being in a positive mood helps you to know and get a better understanding of new things. This means that you can possibly be friendlier to people you do not know and be more creative and able to solve problems more quickly. So if you ever need a reason to be happy, think about the wonderful people you might meet—and impress—with a cheerful smile.
49. Which paragraph shows how soon others form opinions on you?
A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4.
50. What is the most important if you want to leave a good first impression?
A. Shaking hands. B. Stating your name. C. Dressing nicely. D. Wearing a smile.
51. What can be learned from the last paragraph?
A. Friendliness helps solve problems. B. Being positive helps you find a way out.
C. There are many reasons to be happy. D. Thinking of great people cheers you up.
52. What would be the best title for the text?
A. The First Impression Does Matter B. Impressions Decide Who You Are
C. Manners Leave Deep Impressions D. Smiling Makes the First Impression
【答案】49. B 50. D 51. B 52. A

Globalization means that people, ideas, technology, money, services and many other things are moving between countries and changing the way people think and act.
Not everyone thinks the same way about globalization. Some people think it is bad, and some people think it is good. Some believe that globalization helps rich people get richer and makes poor people poorer. These people say that globalization helps big companies like Coca-Cola and McDonald’s destroy(破坏)local businesses. However, the people who think globalization is a good thing argue that globalization helps poorer people to become richer. They also think that it doesn’t destroy local cultures. These people also believe globalization helps prevent wars. This is because countries with economic(经济的)connections will try hard to keep good relationships so that their economies aren’t destroyed.
Whether you think globalization is good or bad, it affects the world in two areas: jobs and cultures.
Globalization has had a very strong influence on jobs all over the world. For some workers, such as engineers, lawyers and bankers, globalization has been a good development. These workers are able to successfully compete(竞争)globally and have seen an increase in their pay. But for those who work in factories or in the service industry(at hotels, shops and restaurants), it has not been good. Workers from poorer countries are trying to get these types of jobs. They will do the same job for less money. This decreases the pay for that job, so people get paid less to do it.
Cultures have also been affected by globalization. Foods such as Japanese noodles, Indian curry and French cheeses have spread around the world. We can also see an increase in the use of Chinese characters(汉字)in tattoos(文身). Some people get these tattoos but they don’t really know what the characters mean. Globalization also affects the film industry. Most people have seen American movies. But because of globalization, Korean, Indian and Japanese movies have become more worldwide.
No one knows the future of globalization. Most experts agree that it will continue to grow and have an increasingly greater influence on people’s lives in the future.
53. Some people think globalization is good because it may _______.
A. change local cultures
B. help local businesses develop
C. make rich people become richer
D. help stop wars among countries
54. According to Paragraph 4, we know _______.
A. engineers will get a lower pay
B. people can get favourite jobs more easily
C. globalization greatly affects people’s jobs
D. workers from rich countries get paid less
55. Globalization helps people in the world _______.
A. know Chinese characters very well
B. go to different countries for movies
C. own the same culture in the end
D. enjoy foods from different countries
56. What can we infer(推断)from the passage?
A. Globalization is sure to do good to people.
B. Globalization will be limited in the future.
C. Globalization may change people’s lives in the future.
D. Globalization will be loved throughout the would.

It was the end of June and school was finished. “It seems like the end of everything, doesn’t it?” said Diana. She started crying.
“Stop it or I’ll cry again. I don’t think I will pass this exam,” said Anne.
“Yes, you will. I want to go with you, imagine how much fun it will be.”
“Yes, but I will have to study a lot. It was so nice of your Aunt Josephine to ask me to stay at her house,” said Anne.
“You’ll write to me, won’t you?” asked Diana.
Anne went to Aunt Josephine’s house on Monday.
On Wednesday Diana went to the post office. There was a letter from Anne.
Dear Diana,
It’s Tuesday night and I’m writing this from Aunt Josephine’s house. Last night I was really lonely in my room without you.
This morning I went to the Academy. There were lots of students. People were doing funny things before the exam. One boy was talking to himself.
Then we went into the exam. Some of the girls looked so relaxed. My heart was beating so quickly. Then we did the English exam. Diana, I felt like I did four years ago when I asked Marilla about staying at Green Gables. In the afternoon we had a history exam. I think I did OK, but Diana, tomorrow we have geometry. I am worried about that.
Yours
Anne
The exams finished and Anne went home on Friday evening. She was very tired and happy. Diana was waiting.
“It’s wonderful to see you. I miss you. Did you do well?” asked Diana.
“I think so, except with geometry. I don’t think I passed. It’s so good to be back. Green Gables is the best place in the world,” said Anne.
“When do you get the results?” asked Diana.
“In two weeks. They’ll be in the newspaper. Two weeks of waiting,” said Anne. “You’ll pass. Don’t worry.”
“I want to pass with a high score or not at all,” said Anne. She seemed angry. Diana understood that Anne wanted a higher score than Gilbert.
Anne and Gilbert were in competition with each other. They saw each other but didn’t speak. It was like they were strangers. Anne secretly wished that she was friends with Gilbert again. But she also wanted to get a higher score than him in the exam. Everyone thought Gilbert was going to get the highest score. She wanted to make Matthew and Marilla proud. Well mostly Matthew.
The results were late. Finally after three weeks of waiting, they arrived. Diana came running to the house with a newspaper.
“Anne, you’ve passed. You and Gilbert. You’re equal firsts,” said Diana.
Anne took the newspaper. Yes, their names were at the top of a list of two hundred pupils. Wow.

【57题详解】
第六段“Anne went to Aunt Josephine’s house on Monday.”,第八段“The exams finished and Anne went home on Friday evening.”,从周一到周五共5天。

【59题详解】
故事顺序为:安妮去姑妈家(第六段“Anne went to Aunt Josephine’s house on Monday.”)→安妮考历史(信中“In the afternoon we had a history exam”)→戴安娜收到信(第七段“On Wednesday Diana went to the post office. There was a letter from Anne.”)→成绩公布(倒数第三段“The results...arrived. Diana came running to the house with a newspaper.”),因此d→c→b→a。
【60题详解】
从第九段戴安娜说“I miss you”并跑来告诉安妮成绩,可以看出她非常关心安妮。

七、阅读与回答问题。(本题共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读并回答问题。
How do we know about things that happened thousands of years ago when there were no videos or photos? One answer is written records. The earliest written records of Chinese civilization (文明) are known as oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文).
More than 3, 000 years ago, people in the Shang Dynasty (about 16th—11th century BC) liked to ask fortune tellers (占卜师) about the future. For example, what will the weather be like next week? Where should I go to make money? Will my wife give birth to a boy or a girl? From work to love, people asked questions about many topics. The fortune teller would write the question on an oracle bone, heat it up, and then read the cracks (裂纹) in it to find an answer.
Tens of thousands of oracle bones have been found so far. They can tell us a great deal about how people lived during the Shang Dynasty. “They help us understand the origins of Chinese philosophy (哲学) and thought, and figure out where our culture comes from,” Song Zhenhao, a leading oracle bone expert, told China Daily.
In addition to (除了) telling us about ancient Chinese culture, the oracle bones are also key to understanding the development of Chinese characters (汉字). Many of the characters we use today are similar to those used 3000 years ago. “The oracle bone inscriptions, as the earliest-known mature (成熟的) form of Chinese characters, represent the beauty and uniqueness (唯一) of a language that has been passed down,” said Chen Nan, a professor at Tsinghua University.
In 2017, UNESCO added oracle bone inscriptions to its Memory of the World Register (“世界记忆”名录). They are indeed a valuable memory of ancient China.

Wow.
