If you could add one compulsory (必修的) subject at your school, what would it be? Why?

I would suggest adding sign language (手语). Not many people know how to communicate with those who have hearing problems. It would be very helpful if we could start to learn sign language when we are young. Learning sign language early would teach us to treat less fortunate people with respect.

I’d suggest adding a time-management class. Nowadays, many students are addicted to their smartphones and other electronic devices. Some of them sleep late because they can’t balance their studies with gaming.
A time-management class will help students learn that first things come first. This will help make sure that they lead a healthy life.

Lily is a middle school student. As soon as the bell rings after school, she always looks for classmates to go to the library or take a walk together. She doesn’t share all her secrets with them, but she feels ▲ to stay with these partners. This kind of common school life has brought us a popular new word.
The word “dazi” comes from the Shanghai dialect (方言). People first used it to talk about card-playing friends. Later, the term developed a broader meaning— partners who take part in certain activities together. And a dazi is not like a close friend or family member. People usually don’t have a long and strong relationship with their dazi.
Nowadays, many young people look for different types of partners, like a travel dazi, a study dazi, and a fitness dazi on social media platforms. A study of 1,335 young people shows that 72.6 percent have one or more dazi. Nearly 69 percent believe that finding a dazi is a brave step in moving out of their comfort zone to find a new lifestyle.
Xiaomi, an office worker in Shenzhen, is one of such people. She has looked for travel partners more than once. This March, Xiaomi went to Gansu Province and found a travel partner there. They had great fun during the journey. “We later started a chat group on WeChat, and we often shared good books and life experiences in it. Starting as travel partners, we have become friends. I think I’m lucky,” Xiaomi said.
Dazi culture doesn’t come without risks. Usually, a dazi may be more suitable for activities in safe environments and for short periods of time. Remember safety always comes first when you want to look for a dazi.
3. Which word can be put into the blank ________?
A. Self-centered. B. Strong-willed C. Light-hearted.
4. What is the correct meaning of “Dazi”?
A. Partners joining in certain activities.
B. Best friends always studying together.
C. Close friends knowing your private life.
5. Which detail supports the idea that dazi culture is very popular?
A. Dazi was first used for card-playing friends.
B. Over 70% of young people have one or more dazi.
C. Xiaomi’s travel dazi has become her close friend.
6. What will the writer probably talk about next?
A. How to keep safe when looking for a dazi.
B. How to choose proper partners for activities.
C. How to value personal safety in daily life.
C 4. A 5. B 6. A
根据第一段“She doesn’t share all her secrets with them, but she feels...to stay with these partners.”
根据第二段“the term developed a broader meaning— partners who take part in certain activities together.”
根据第三段“A study of 1,335 young people shows that 72.6 percent have one or more dazi.”
根据最后一段“Dazi culture doesn’t come without risks...Remember safety always comes first when you want to look for a dazi.”

In the forests of southern Sweden, there is a cabin (小木屋) where visitors enjoyed something valuable—silence.
This special wooden house was part of a tourism project called “Stay Quiet”. The idea was to help people escape from the noise of everyday life and enjoy the peace of nature.
Guests at the cabin didn’t just have to be a little quiet, though—all sounds had to stay below 45 decibels (分贝), which is about as quiet as a library. And if someone was too loud, they had to leave!
The experience was not open to everyone. From over 200 applicants (申请者), only three pairs were chosen to take part over a weekend in late 2025.
The project started because noise pollution is a growing problem. Experts say too much noise can cause stress, make it hard to sleep, and hurt our health. Studies show that being around noise for a long time can raise blood pressure, increase the risk of heart disease, and even make memory and focus worse. Loud environments can also make people feel more anxious or tired.
But nature does the opposite. It helps us feel calm, think clearly and rest. Spending time in a quiet natural place can lower our heart rate (心率) and reduce stress in our body and mind.
Inside the cabin, there were no TVs, phones, or Internet. Guests cooked their meals over a fire, walked in the forest, and enjoyed simple activities like writing letters to their future selves.
The project’s organizers hope the idea will change the way people think about travel. Instead of busy plans, we can slow down and discover how good silence can feel.
7. What should the sound be like in the cabin?
A. Below 35 decibels. B. Below 45 decibels. C. Below 55 decibels.
8. Why did the organizers start the project?
A. To make much money from tourists.
B. To teach people how to build wooden cabins.
C. To raise people’s awareness of noise pollution.
9. What kind of people may like the project best?
A. Those who want to rest from noisy life.
B. Those who love busy and exciting trips.
C. Those who enjoy talking with strangers.
10. What is the passage mainly about?
A. A fast-paced lifestyle.
B. Swedish travel experiences.
C. A quiet-themed travel project.
B 8. C 9. A 10. C
根据第二段“help people escape from the noise of everyday life”(帮助人们逃离日常生活的噪音)和最后一段“Instead of busy plans, we can slow down”(我们可以放慢节奏,而不是忙碌的计划),想要从嘈杂生活中休息的人最适合该项目。

Many schools in China are adding trendy sports to P.E. classes, giving students new ways to stay active. At Sunshine High School, rock climbing is part of daily lessons, helping students build courage, focus and confidence. The school introduced rock climbing in 2023. Since then, students in different grades have had weekly climbing lessons. A climbing club is also open to all students, giving everyone a chance to try the sport.
Inside the school, a 15-meter-high climbing wall is one of the most eye-catching features. During class, students carefully make their way up, thinking through each move. For every step and handhold (把手点), personal strength and problem-solving skills are the most important.
Student Lin Qingnong, 15, said climbing is not only about reaching the top. “When you try to grab the next hold, you need to think about where your hands and feet should go,” he said, “You also need to find a safer path that saves energy. When you reach the top, you can enjoy the view of the whole school.”
Rock climbing is exciting, but it also requires strict safety measures (措施). To make classes safer and more professional, the school works with China University of Geosciences. Professional coaches from the university guide students in every lesson.
Besides improving physical fitness, rock climbing also builds mental strength (心理素质) and teaches students not to give up easily.
