I played the violin and that was what I planned to do as my job. But I had an accident when I was playing basketball and hurt my hand, so I had to think of doing something else. My mother wanted me to be a journalist, but I didn’t think it was for me. I didn’t know what to study at university. After graduation I went to a film school where I studied lighting, special effects, how to use a camera, and all that (诸如此类)! It was there that I decided to work in the video game industry. People also ask me what I like best about being a video game writer. Well, the money is good and it’s quite exciting. Just last night, for example, I was at a big dinner where they were giving prizes for new games. But what I love most is the fact that I get on so well with everyone in the company. That’s what makes my job so much fun.

第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Dracaena
The green and yellow pattern on its leaves looks great. It can grow to be around 10 feet tall. Just make sure you keep the soil surface dry between your watering periods because it gets influenced by too much water. Also, having this plant around a dog can be dangerous. It can be poisonous to dogs if they eat it.
Australian Pine
A perfect “living decoration” to add in your house, it is good to look at and has a comforting feel. It can also serve as the perfect Christmas tree. It grows around 10 feet tall indoors. Remember that it requires plenty of light and fresh air. Otherwise, it becomes weak and an easy target for mites (螨虫).
Peperomia
It is little in size, with long leaves. It adds energy to your living room and creates a comforting environment. As it’s not a very tall plant, you needn’t worry about how much space it will take up. The plant likes a dry surface of the soil.
Grape Ivy
If you want something off the ceiling (天花板), this houseplant is the one for you. It’s a climbing plant, and it will make for a beautiful hanging basket decoration. The plant is full of life wherever it is hung. It needs to be kept wet in all its parts for good growth.
A houseplant is pretty to look at and brings fresh air to your home. Besides, looking after a plant will give you something more to do and care about. Let’s look at the four best houseplants you can grow.
So what are you waiting for? Choose the one that attracts you most, and give your home a wonderful addition.
21.Which of the following can serve as a Christmas tree?
A.Grape ivy. B.Dracaena.
C.Australian pine. D.Peperomia.
22.When keeping Dracaena as a houseplant, you should .
A.be careful with mites B.keep dogs away from it
C.hang it from the ceiling D.leave the surface of the soil wet
23.In which section of a website can you most likely find the passage?

The hot housing market has more companies buying up single-family homes. They’re known as institutional (机构的) buyers and they accounted for a little more than 13.2% of house buying last year, according to new research from the National Association of Realtors. That was up from about 11.8% in 2020. These investors (投资者) are making it more difficult for people to find affordable housing, but a new action from the government could help prevent some of this in the future.
Claire Murphy is someone who has struggled to find affordable housing. She has been living in a camper for two years in Frisco, Colorado. “It’s more than just not having a shower,” Murphy said. “It’s feeling unsafe, feeling unsettled. ” Her boss lets her live in the office because she can’t afford to buy or rent a home. “The rents are more than 50% of my wage (工资),” Murphy said.
While there are not many new buildings being built across the country, Murphy says that’s not the truth in her area. “On every corner, about 20 apartments ( 公 寓) are being built, but we’ll never get to see them,” Murphy said. The problem is that she says investors are buying them up. “So what chance do we have?” Murphy said.
The government recently worked out some plans to deal with the housing problem. Among the list is “making sure that more government-owned housing and other housing goes to owners who will live in them, or nonprofits (非营利组织) who will improve them instead of large institutional investors”.
Matt Emery with the National Association of Realtors researches the influence of institutional investors. He says institutional investors buying up buildings is only a small part of the housing problem. For change to happen, Emery says the recommendations from the White House have to move through Congress. “We’re going to need some of these big changes to fix the problems because I don't think the market’s going to correct these on their own,” Emery said. At the same time, Murphy says she isn’t giving up finding an affordable place to call home.
28.What is the problem with the housing market?
A.Investors are causing a rise in house prices. B.Buyers are less confident about it than before.
C.Housing prices are rising beyond anyone’s control. D.The government fails to attract large investment.
29.What does the underlined word “unsettled” mean in paragraph 2?
A.Worthless. B.Homeless. C.Unfit. D.Unusual.
30.What does the government plan to do to deal with the housing problem?
A.Offer some free houses to the needy.
B.Pass laws to stop investors buying houses.
C.Provide more chances for those buying for living.
D.Ask nonprofits to find second-hand houses for buyers.
31.What does Emery think of the government’s plan?
A.It is effective. B.It is detailed. C.It is realistic. D.It is necessary.
【答案】28.A 29.B 30.C 31.D
【导语】文章主要讲述了火热的房地产市场吸引了更多机构投资者购买单户住宅,导致人们难以找到负担得起的住房,以及政府为应对住房问题所采取的措施。
【详解】28.细节理解题。根据第一段中的“These investors (投资者) are making it more difficult for people to find affordable housing, but a new action from the government could help prevent some of this in the future. (这些投资者使人们更难找到负担得起的住房,但政府的一项新行动可能有助于在未来防止其中一些问题。)”可知,投资者正在导致房价上涨,使人们难以找到负担得起的住房。
29.词句猜测题。根据第二段中的“She has been living in a camper for two years in Frisco, Colorado. (她在科罗拉多州弗里斯科的一辆露营车里住了两年。)”以及“It’s feeling unsafe, feeling unsettled. (感觉不安全,感觉unsettled。)”可知,Murphy住在露营车里,没有固定的家,所以unsettled应表示“不安定的;无家可归的”,与homeless意思相近。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Among the list is ‘making sure that more government-owned housing and other housing goes to owners who will live in them, or nonprofits (非营利组织) who will improve them instead of large institutional investors’ (其中一项是‘确保更多的政府住房和其他住房归自住业主或会改善它们的非营利组织所有,而不是大型机构投资者’。)”可知,政府计划为自住购房者提供更多机会。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“We’re going to need some of these big changes to fix the problems because I don’t think the market’s going to correct these on their own. (我们需要一些这样的重大改变来解决这些问题,因为我认为市场不会自行纠正这些问题。)”可知,Emery认为政府的计划是必要的,因为市场无法自行解决这些问题。

Despite the growing popularity of bio-based plastics, plastic pollution remains one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. According to the OECD’s Global Plastics Outlook (2022), about 353 million metric tons of plastic waste were produced globally in 2019, with nearly 1.7 million metric tons flowing directly into aquatic (水生的) ecosystems. Much of this waste becomes trapped in large ocean currents, known as gyres (环流), forming the infamous “garbage masses” found in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans.
To solve this problem, researchers have been searching for plastics that can be degraded (降解) more reliably in deep-sea environments. One promising candidate is LAHB, a new eco-friendly plastic. So far, LAHB has shown strong potential as a biodegradable polymer that breaks down in river water and shallow seawater.
In a study made available online, researchers from Japan have shown for the first time that LAHB can also get biodegraded under deep-sea conditions, where low temperatures, high pressure and extremely limited nutrients make breakdown of plastic extremely difficult. The study demonstrates for the first time that LAHB undergoes active biodegradation and complete mineralization even on the deep-sea floor, where conventional PLA remains completely non-degradable.
The research team submerged (使淹没水中) two types of LAHB films — P6LAHB and P13LAHB (containing different levels of lactic acid) — alongside a conventional PLA film for comparison. After 7 and 13 months, the LAHB films revealed clear signs of biodegradation under deep-sea conditions. The P13LAHB film lost 30.9% of its weight after 7 months and over 82% after 13 months. The P6LAHB film showed similar trends. By contrast, the measurable weight loss of PLA film is 0%. There was no visible degradation during the same period, highlighting its resistance to microbial degradation.
This research fills a knowledge gap about how bio-based plastic degrade in remote marine (海洋的) areas. “By showing that LAHB can decompose and mineralize even in deep-sea conditions, the study provides a pathway for safer alternatives to conventional plastics and supports the transition to a circular bioeconomy,” says Prof. Taguchi.
32.How does the author introduce the topic?
A.By telling a story. B.By revealing a concept.
C.By sharing data and facts. D.By making a comparison.
33.What do the figures in paragraph 4 imply?
A.LAHB is more friendly to the environment than PLA.
B.PLA degrades easily in the deep-sea water.
C.LAHB is hard to break down in the ocean.
D.PLA should be more widely used.
34.What is Prof. Taguchi’s attitude towards the result of the research?
A.Optimistic. B.Indifferent. C.Objective. D.Worried.
35.Which of the following is the best title of the passage?
A.Sea — an important part of our lives
B.LAHB — good news for oceans
C.A new kind of plastic
D.A new way of protecting the ocean
【答案】32.C 33.A 34.A 35.B
【导语】文章主要讲述了新型环保塑料LAHB在深海条件下可降解,为解决塑料污染提供新途径。
【详解】32.推理判断题。根据第一段中“According to the OECD’s Global Plastics Outlook (2022), about 353 million metric tons of plastic waste were produced globally in 2019, with nearly 1.7 million metric tons flowing directly into aquatic (水生的) ecosystems. (根据经合组织《全球塑料展望》(2022年)的数据,2019年全球产生了约3.53亿吨塑料垃圾,其中近170万吨直接流入水生生态系统。)”可知,作者通过分享数据和事实来引入话题。
33.推理判断题。根据第四段中“The P13LAHB film lost 30.9% of its weight after 7 months and over 82% after 13 months. The P6LAHB film showed similar trends. By contrast, the measurable weight loss of PLA film is 0%. There was no visible degradation during the same period, highlighting its resistance to microbial degradation. (P13LAHB薄膜在7个月后重量减轻了30.9%,13个月后减轻了82%以上。P6LAHB薄膜表现出类似的趋势。相比之下,PLA薄膜的可测量重量损失为0%。在同一时期内没有明显的降解,突显了其对微生物降解的抵抗力。)”可知,第四段中的数字表明LAHB比PLA对环境更友好。
34.推理判断题。根据最后一段中““By showing that LAHB can decompose and mineralize even in deep-sea conditions, the study provides a pathway for safer alternatives to conventional plastics and supports the transition to a circular bioeconomy,” says Prof. Taguchi. (“通过表明LAHB即使在深海条件下也能分解和矿化,这项研究为传统塑料提供了更安全的替代途径,并支持向循环生物经济的过渡,”田口教授说。)”可知,田口教授对研究结果持乐观态度。
35.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第二段“To solve this problem, researchers have been searching for plastics that can be degraded (降解) more reliably in deep-sea environments. One promising candidate is LAHB, a new eco-friendly plastic. So far, LAHB has shown strong potential as a biodegradable polymer that breaks down in river water and shallow seawater.
A grateful attitude brings real benefits to our mental health. However, the busyness of life, financial worries, and work stress constantly compete for our attention. As humans, we tend to focus on problems rather than blessings (幸事). Fortunately, there are practical habits that can help us develop a genuine sense of thankfulness.
36 Begin your day with spoken thanks or prayer. This small act, repeated daily, can gradually reshape how we experience everything that follows. Over time, positivity becomes a natural response rather than a forced effort.
The word “thanks” carries more power than most people realize. 37 When you express appreciation to others — whether a coworker, a doctor, or a store clerk — you strengthen your relationships while also improving your own emotional state.
Keeping a gratitude (感恩) journal is another effective strategy. Write down the people, experiences, and small moments you feel thankful for each day. 38 The act of writing itself forces you to slow down and truly notice the good in your life.
Reading stories of those who have overcome severe difficulties can also greatly change your view. 39 Learning how others found strength through gratitude often inspires us to find our own.
A wise person once declared, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” 40 Developing gratitude takes continuous effort, but the rewards are well worth it.
A.It can lift both the giver and the receiver.
B.A grateful person faces fewer challenges.
C.Over time, you can look back with appreciation.
D.Such stories remind us of life’s hidden blessings.
E.Therefore, we should make gratitude a daily habit.
F.Each morning, we face a choice about our mindset.
G.Looking back on the past brings long-term happiness.
【答案】36.F 37.A 38.C 39.D 40.E
【导语】文章主要讲述了培养感恩之心的实用方法及其对身心健康的益处。
【详解】36.上文“Fortunately, there are practical habits that can help us develop a genuine sense of thankfulness.(幸运的是,有一些实用的习惯可以帮助我们培养真正的感恩之心)”提出了培养感恩习惯的可能性。下文“Begin your day with spoken thanks or prayer.(以口头感谢或祈祷开始你的一天)”给出了具体的做法。
37.上文“The word “thanks” carries more power than most people realize.(“谢谢”这个词的力量比大多数人意识到的要大)”强调了表达感谢的重要性。下文“When you express appreciation to others — whether a coworker, a doctor, or a store clerk — you strengthen your relationships while also improving your own emotional state.(当你向他人表达感激之情时——无论是同事、医生还是店员——你加强了人际关系,同时也改善了自己的情绪状态)”具体说明了表达感谢带来的双向好处。空处应总结感谢的力量,即惠及双方。A项“它能让给予者和接受者都振奋起来。”准确概括了下文描述的双向益处。
38.上文“Write down the people, experiences, and small moments you feel thankful for each day.(写下你每天心存感激的人、经历和小瞬间)”描述了写感恩日记的动作。空处顺接前文,说明长期坚持写日记带来的结果。C项“久而久之,你可以带着感激之情回顾过往。”是长期记录后产生的自然结果,与上文逻辑连贯。
39.上文“Reading stories of those who have overcome severe difficulties can also greatly change your view.(阅读那些克服严重困难之人的故事也能极大地改变你的看法)”提到了阅读励志故事。下文“Learning how others found strength through gratitude often inspires us to find our own.(了解他人如何通过感恩找到力量,往往能激励我们找到自己的力量)”说明了这些故事对我们的启发。空处应承上启下,说明这些故事的作用。D项“这样的故事提醒我们生活中隐藏的幸事。”中的“Such stories”指代上文,“hidden blessings”呼应下文的“found strength”。
40.上文“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.(喜乐的心乃是良药,忧伤的灵使骨枯干)”引用谚语强调了心态的重要性。下文“Developing gratitude takes continuous effort, but the rewards are well worth it.(培养感恩需要持续的努力,但回报是值得的)”回归到培养感恩的具体努力上。空处应连接心态与努力,说明我们每天面临的选择。空处承上启下,引出“培养感恩需要努力”这一行动建议。E选项“因此,我们应该让感恩成为一种日常习惯。”起到总结全文、升华主旨的作用。

On March 14, Fu Tingxiu, a member of the Longyou County Red Cross Loyalty Rescue Team, was driving home after a skills competition. It was a little cold that afternoon, and there were not many people on the road. All of a sudden, he saw an old man standing alone by the side of the road. The old man walked back and forth slowly, his face full of confusion, and he could not speak a complete sentence clearly when he mumbled to himself. Fu felt he must be in trouble, so he stopped his car at once and walked quickly to help him.
Fu gently helped the old man into his warm car first, hoping to make him feel better. He asked the old man softly about his name, address and family, but the old man could only say a few unclear words. Fu tried many times, but he still got no useful information. He soon understood that the old man was lost and couldn’t find his way back home. Without any hesitation, Fu decided to take him to the nearest police station, for he knew the police could help find the old man’s family.
When they got to the police station, Fu told the police officers everything he had seen on the road and what he had tried to do. The police thanked Fu for his kindness and immediately checked their missing person records to look for the old man’s family. They then told Fu that the old man was 83 years old, who had left his home alone that morning and lost his way soon after.
At that time, the old man’s family had been looking for him everywhere for hours. They were extremely worried and kept calling the police for help, not knowing that their old family member was now safe at the police station with the warm help of a kind stranger like Fu.

Kneeling beside her father, she held his cold hands tightly, her body trembling with a mix of relief and overwhelming joy. The old man stared blankly at first, and then his confused eyes softened as he recognized her, lifting his weak hand to pat hers gently. Fu watched the touching scene with a gentle smile, feeling truly relieved and joyful that the family was safely reunited at last. The officer stood by silently, giving them space to calm down and recover from the anxiety.
The police officer told the woman that Fu had found her father on the cold road. He explained how Fu had noticed the old man’s confusion, kindly took him into his car to keep warm, and then brought him to the police station without delay. After hearing this, the woman turned to Fu, bowed deeply, and kept saying “thank you” repeatedly. Fu smiled and replied, “It’s nothing. Just make sure he carries a contact card.” The woman then helped her father stand up, held his arm tightly, and walked out slowly. Fu watched them get into a taxi and drive away, a warm feeling rising in his heart. He got into his own car and headed home, feeling that the cold day had become truly meaningful.

Dr. Marie-Luce Chevalier, a Belgian/French geologist (地质学家), has been working as a research professor at the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences in Beijing since 2010.
For the past 14 years, she has been studying active faults (活断层) in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and how they move. In 2021, Chevalier was presented with the Chinese Government Friendship Award in appreciation of her contributions to the development of China’s disaster assessment system of earthquake and the promotion of cooperation and exchanges between China and other countries.
Chevalier’s choice of China as a research destination was not made by chance. Her research has primarily focused on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. She had also collaborated (合作) with Chinese scientists from the beginning of her master’s program. “When they asked if I wanted to join their team after my post-doctorate, I gladly accepted and have no regrets. My fourteen years in China have provided me with a constant source of fresh personal and professional experiences,” she said, adding that her mother’s interest in Chinese culture contributed to her decision to work in the country.
Chevalier will continue to research active faults in and around Xizang actively and contribute to our understanding of how past climate developed to work towards predicting future climate change, another topic near and dear to her heart. She will accomplish this by conducting field research, sharing her findings with scientific community, teaching students who will become tomorrow’s scientists, and raising awareness among local populations about the risks they may face in their lifetime.
Chevalier’s mother went to Xizang once, realizing her lifelong dreams. Chevalier keeps raising her daughter in this safe and highly international environment, Beijing. When people ask her daughter where she is from at four years old, she proudly answers, “China!” Chevalier wants to learn more about the Chinese language and culture, continue to enjoy the happiness of the Chinese people, and look forward to seeing what China achieves next!
24.What achievement did Chevalier get?
A.She established the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences
B.She launched the research on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.
C.She developed earthquake prediction system for China.
D.She won the Chinese Government Friendship Award.
25.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.When Chevalier began her master’s program.
B.What Chevalier experienced in China.
C.Why Chevalier bases her research in China.
D.How Chinese culture has affected Chevalier.
26.Which of the following best describes Chevalier?
A.Professional and devoted. B.Sympathetic and open minded.
C.honest and careful. D.Innovative and modest.
27.Why does Chevalier mention her daughter in the text?
A.To highlight China’s secure environment.
B.To prove her close family connections.
C.To advocate Chinese learning.
D.To emphasize her bond with China.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

As a legend goes, tofu was discovered by a Chinese-prince named Liu An more than 2,000 years ago when he attempted 56 (make) an elixir (丹药). He realized that soy milk left in certain conditions coagulated (凝固) and developed a pudding-like substance 57 that was the beginning of tofu.
It’s 58 (universal) believed that Buddhist monks visiting China brought tofu back to neighbouring countries like Japan. Though East Asia has been eating tofu for more than 1,000 years, it took a lot longer for it to gain 59 (popular) globally.
Benjamin Franklin, one of the United States’ founding fathers, wrote a letter with some soy beans 60 (attach), calling it a “Chinese cheese” in 1770. The letter was one of the earliest documents on record that mentioned tofu in the West. Li Shizeng, 61 enthusiast for tofu, is often credited with making tofu a more widely accepted food outside of Asia. It’s said that he was the first man 62 attended a French military school.
