But there is somewhere equally breathtaking with far fewer crowds. It’s called Coconino National Forest, stretching across nearly 2 million acres between Phoenix and Flagstaff. How to Get There Getting there is easy. Fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and drive 1.5 hours north via Interstate 17. Or fly to Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, served by American Airlines with daily flights from Phoenix, Dallas, and Los Angeles. From there, the forest is just a 20-minute drive. About the Forest Named after the Cohonina people, the forest was designated a national forest by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908. Today, its three districts protect 10 wilderness areas home to elk, mule deer, mountain lions, and bobcats. Hiking Information Trails: 482 trails extending hundreds of miles Pass Required: 1. Red Rock Pass: $5 per day (for individuals only) 2. All-Inclusive Annual Pass: $80 (for individuals and families) Top Trails: Devil’s Bridge Trail: 3.9-mile out-and-back hike to a huge sandstone arch. Kachina Peaks Trail: 9.6-mile hike to Humphreys Peak (12,633 feet), Arizona’s highest point. Grand Canyon view available on clear days from Humphreys Peak. Stay Options The forest has 24 campsites and 4 cabins. Clints Well Campground charges $8 per night and stays open year-round. If you prefer a roof, hotels in Flagstaff or Sedona Views Bed and Breakfast (11.2 miles away) are good choices. 1. What is the main purpose of this text? A. To describe various Forest wildlife. B. To explain how to get a hiking pass. C. To introduce a less crowded scenic spot. D. To compare the Grand Canyon with Coconino. 2. What is the budget-friendly pass option for a family of four hiking for 3 days? A. Four Red Rock Passes. B. Twelve Red Rock Passes. C. One All-Inclusive Annual Pass. D. Four All-Inclusive Annual Passes. 3. What can be learned about Humphreys Peak? A. It is an easy hike for beginners. B. It is located inside the Grand Canyon. C. It is the most popular trail in the forest. D. It is higher than any other mountain in Arizona. C 2. B 3. 根据第一段中“The Grand Canyon welcomed 4.9 million visitors in 2024. But there is somewhere equally breathtaking with far fewer crowds. It’s called Coconino National Forest.(大峡谷在2024年迎来了490万游客。但有一个同样令人叹为观止且人少得多的地方。它叫科科尼诺国家森林。)”可知,文章主要目的是介绍这个人少的景点。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。 根据Pass Required中“Red Rock Pass: $5 per day(for individuals only)(红石通行证:每天5美元,仅限个人)”和“All-Inclusive Annual Pass: $80 (for individuals and families)(全包年票:80美元,适用于个人和家庭)”可知,四口之家徒步3天:若买红石通行证,需4人×3天=12张,共12×5=60美元;若买全包年票需80美元。 B At 39, Zhang Xue doesn’t care much about fame. Dressed in his own brand’s biker jacket, he told reporters, “None of you would be here if someone hadn’t pushed for you to be here.” His words made many uncomfortable. Yet just days earlier, his motorcycle had made history — winning two World Supersport races in Portugal, beating giants like Ducati and Honda. Zhang’s journey was never easy. Born into a poor farming family, at 16, it was by chance that he became passionate about motorcycles. “I’ve ridden every day since then,” he says. But being a self-taught rider with no connections meant no racing team would notice him. So at 19, he did something clever: he repeatedly called a popular TV show until a journalist agreed to meet him. His first performance was a disaster. Due to extreme nerves, his old motorcycle, or the lack of grip (抓牢) in the mountainous terrain, he fell off several times. The staff drove away. Refusing to give up, Zhang chased (追逐) their car for over 100 km in the rain for three hours. Moved by his persistence, they filmed him again. This time, he nailed difficult stunts. The broadcast, titled The Wind-Chasing Youth, got him noticed by professional teams. After years of racing and engineering work, Zhang moved to Chongqing, China’s “Motorcycle Capital”. With only 20, 000 yuan, he started by buying spare parts and sharing his work online. In 2017, he co-founded Kove Moto, which soon became a leader in large-displacement motorcycles. But fame and fortune meant little to him. “I don’t want to be a businessman sitting in meetings,” he says. “I want to be a hands-on engineer again.” So in 2024, he left to start his own brand, ZXMOTO. Today, ZXMOTO is growing fast. “Our advantages are low costs and high efficiency. In terms of high-end manufacturing, we are neck and neck with Europe and the US,” he says. Zhang’s ultimate dream is to put a Chinese motorcycle on the top step of MotoGP, the “Formula 1 of two wheels”. “WSBK is just the beginning,” he says. “I won’t stop until a Chinese bike stands on a MotoGP podium.” 4. What did the chase after the TV staff reflect about Zhang? A. His physical fitness. B. His determination to follow a dream. C. His persistence in business. D. His super skills in motorcycle riding. 5. Why did Zhang leave Kove Moto? A. The company was losing money. B. His investors asked him to leave. C. He wanted full control of production. D. He preferred engineering to management. 6. What can be inferred from Zhang’s view on Chinese manufacturing? A. It will never catch up with Europe. B. It lacks experience in high-end areas. C. It still depends too much on low costs. D. It has closed the gap with developed nations. 7. What is the passage mainly about? A. The history of a famous racing event in Portugal. B. Why Chinese motorcycles now lead the global market. C. How a self-taught mechanic defeated industrial giants. D. The business competition between Kove and ZXMOTO. B 5. D 6. D 7. 根据第二段中“Born into a poor farming family, at 16, it was by chance that he became passionate about motorcycles. Moved by his persistence, they filmed him again.(出身贫寒农家的他,16岁时因一次偶然的机会迷上了摩托车。 根据第三段中“I don’t want to be a businessman sitting in meetings,” he says. “I want to be a hands-on engineer again.” So in 2024, he left to start his own brand, ZXMOTO.(“我不想当个坐在会议室里的商人,”他说,“我想重新做回一名实操工程师。” 根据第四段中“In terms of high-end manufacturing, we are neck and neck with Europe and the US(在高端制造方面,我们与欧美并驾齐驱)”可知,张雪认为中国在高端制造领域已与欧美不相上下,说明差距已大幅缩小。 C选项“How a self-taught mechanic defeated industrial giants.(一个自学成才的机械师如何击败工业巨头。)” C If a stranger knocked on your door asking for using your phone, would you help? How about lending them five dollars for the bus, if they said they’d return and pay you back? Nowadays, many people find it hard to trust strangers. A recent study found that our ability to trust strangers may be more than just a social or psychological characteristic — it could be rooted in our DNA. This is important, as it turns out that trusting people might actually live longer and healthier lives compared to more skeptical (怀疑的) people. Two main theories have appeared to explain why some people are more trusting than others. One suggests trust is a stable characteristic shaped by early life experiences. The other thinks it’s influenced by a person’s ongoing evaluation of the social environment. We can easily imagine that the answer to the question “Would you say that most people can be trusted?” would depend on whether you’d been robbed the day before or if you’d had your missing wallet returned. This is where the recent research comes in. A professor of Lund University, Edgerton and his coworkers have been doing research about trust. In their most recent study, involving 33,882 Danish blood donors, they found a single gene (基因) — PLPP4, strongly associated with the personality of trusting others, and that the PLPP4 gene explained 6% of the difference in social trust within the study population. If you take two people who have similar education and life experiences, this gene alone could account for 6% of the difference in how much they trust others. They believe that the PLPP4 gene may somehow soften our “fight-or-flight” survival response. If our fight-or-flight system is less strong when we meet new people, it makes sense that trusting others could have huge health benefits. Indeed, if trusting others acts as something against stress, it may lower the risk of cardiovascular (心血管的) disease. As people continue to uncover the mysteries of trust, one thing is clear: understanding its genetic roots may hold the key to developing healthier communities in the world. 8. What might affect people’s trust levels according to the two main theories? A. Childhood habits. B. Personal abilities. C. Social experiences. D. Communication skills. 9. What does the recent study focus on? A. The mental cause of trust. B. The ways to develop survival ability. C. The characteristics of different genes. D. The connection between trust and a gene. 10. What does the passage say about trusting others? A. It could bring health benefits. B. It reduces the strong stress in work. C. It helps to develop the world faster. D. It causes quicker survival response. 11. What can be inferred from the passage? A. The ability to trust others relates to a single gene. B. How trusting you are frees people from disease. C. Your understanding of gene accounts for developed communities. D. The PLPP4 gene lays the foundation of survival response. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第三段第一句到第三句“Two main theories have appeared to explain why some people are more trusting than others. One suggests trust is a stable characteristic shaped by early life experiences. The other thinks it’s influenced by a person’s ongoing evaluation of the social environment.(关于为何有些人比其他人更易信任他人,出现了两种主要理论。 根据第四段第三句到最后一句“In their most recent study, involving 33,882 Danish blood donors, they found a single gene (基因) — PLPP4, strongly associated with the personality of trusting others, and that the PLPP4 gene explained 6% of the difference in social trust within the study population. If you take two people who have similar education and life experiences, this gene alone could account for 6% of the difference in how much they trust others.(在他们最近的一项研究中,他们对 33882 名丹麦献血者进行了调查。 根据第五段最后一句“Indeed, if trusting others acts as something against stress, it may lower the risk of cardiovascular (心血管的) disease.(事实上,如果信任他人能起到缓解压力的作用,那么它或许还能降低患心血管疾病的风险)”可知,文章认为信任他人对健康有好处。故选A。 根据第四段最后一句“If you take two people who have similar education and life experiences, this gene alone could account for 6% of the difference in how much they trust others.(如果选取两个有着相似教育背景和生活经历的人,仅这一基因因素就足以解释他们之间 6%的信任度差异)”可知,信任他人的能力与一个特定的基因有关。故选A。 D Scammers (骗子) are becoming tricky, turning to the Internet to better cheat their targets out of money. This includes using deep fakes (冒充者) to present themselves as someone else. Now, AI is being used in the fightback with Telecom Company O2 applying an AI granny in the action. Daisy, an AI grandma created by British Telecom Company O2 as the cleverest scam fighter, is a new AI tool with the voice of a grandmother designed to talk with scammers and “waste as much of their time as possible”. Basically, she rambles on (絮叨) about anything and everything to keep them away from real people. While Daisy may sound like a human, she is actually an AI large language model with the character application of a grandma. The company worked with known scam artists to train Daisy and used a method called Number Seeding to get Daisy’s phone number added to a list of online “mugs lists” — lists used by scammers targeting UK users. She functions by listening to the scammers and translating their voice to text. The AI then searches its large database to find a suitable reply, based on the specific scam training she’s received, and translates that text answer to speech for Daisy to reply. All this happens in seconds with no additional input needed. The goal is to keep the scammer on the phone for as long as possible by trapping them in a lifelike, but lengthy conversation. “Daisy is turning the tables on scammers — outsmarting them at their own pitiless game simply by keeping them on the line,” Murray Mackenzie, Director of Fraud at O2, explained. O2 also hopes to draw attention to scams by warning users to be careful about who they may be speaking to. “No matter how good someone on the other end of the phone may be, they aren’t always who you think they are,” Murray said. “In terms of tips and tricks, whether you’re shopping online, reviewing your emails, or receiving an out-of-the-blue phone call, it’s important to always remain watchful.” 12. How does the AI granny fight against scammers? A. By telling scammers funny stories. B. By talking scammers into quitting. C. By taking up scammers’ time. D. By keeping scammers interested. 13. Why does Daisy receive scam training? A. To recognize scammers’ tricks. B. To react to scammers properly. C. To make herself more creative. D. To improve her translation skills. 14. What do the underlined words “turning the tables on” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Serving. B. Educating. C. Tracking. D. Defeating. 15. What is Murray’s suggestion to the users? A. Stop answering calls. B. Use particular software. C. Raise anti-scam awareness. D. Avoid shopping online. C 13. B 14. D 15. 根据第二段“Daisy, an AI grandma created by British Telecom Company O2 as the cleverest scam fighter, is a new AI tool with the voice of a grandmother designed to talk with scammers and “waste as much of their time as possible”. Basically, she rambles on (絮叨) about anything and everything to keep them away from real people.(黛西是英国电信公司O2打造的AI 老奶奶,被誉为最厉害的防诈骗斗士。 根据第二段“The company worked with known scam artists to train Daisy and used a method called Number Seeding to get Daisy’s phone number added to a list of online “mugs lists” — lists used by scammers targeting UK users. She functions by listening to the scammers and translating their voice to text. The AI then searches its large database to find a suitable reply, based on the specific scam training she’s received, and translates that text answer to speech for Daisy to reply. 根据第四段“The goal is to keep the scammer on the phone for as long as possible by trapping them in a lifelike, but lengthy conversation. “Daisy is turning the tables on scammers — outsmarting them at their own pitiless game simply by keeping them on the line,” Murray Mackenzie, Director of Fraud at O2, explained.(其目标是通过逼真又冗长的对话拖住骗子,让他们尽可能长时间不挂电话。 根据最后一段“O2 also hopes to draw attention to scams by warning users to be careful about who they may be speaking to. “No matter how good someone on the other end of the phone may be, they aren’t always who you think they are,” Murray said. “In terms of tips and tricks, whether you’re shopping online, reviewing your emails, or receiving an out-of-the-blue phone call, it’s important to always remain watchful.”(O2还希望借此提醒用户警惕诈骗,告诫大家要谨慎对待通话对象。 How to express hurt feelings Expressing hurt feelings can be challenging, especially for teenagers. ____16____ Luckily, there are some simple techniques on how to effectively express your hurt feelings. ____17____ Before you approach someone to tell them that they’ve hurt your feelings, identify exactly why you feel hurt. The doctors told us that with treatment he would be able to walk normally—but would never run very well. The first three years of his life were spent in operations. By the time he was eight, people wouldn’t know he had a problem when they saw him walk. The children in our neighborhood ran around as most children do during play, and Joey would jump right in and run and play, too. We never told him that he probably wouldn’t be able to run as well as the other children. So he didn’t know. In seventh grade he decided to try out for the cross-country running team. Every day he trained with the team. He worked harder and ran more than any of the others—perhaps he sensed that the abilities that seemed to come naturally to so many others did not come naturally to him. Although the entire team runs, only the top seven runners have the chance to score points for the school. We didn’t tell him that he probably would never make the team, so he didn’t know. He continued to run four to five miles a day, every day — even the day he had a fever. I was worried, so I went to look for him after school. When I found him running on the track with a flushed face, I knew I had to tell him the truth. I called him over and sat him down on a bench. With a heavy heart, I told him about his condition and that it might be too much for him to keep training and participate in the competition. Joey listened quietly, his eyes lowered. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That day, as Joey stood at the starting line, he looked more determined than ever. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Joey listened quietly, his eyes downcast. After a long silence, he looked up at me. There was a firm look in his eyes. He showed that he knew it was hard, but he really wanted to keep going. The competition meant the world to him as he had been training so hard for it. He wouldn’t give up easily just because of this setback. His determination surprised me. I could see the strong will in him that refused to be defeated by difficulties. That day, as Joey stood at the starting line, he looked more determined than ever. When the whistle blew, he rushed out with all his strength. Despite his physical condition, he ran with great speed and passion. The audience cheered loudly for him. He ignored the pain and the possible failure. He just focused on running towards the finish line. Finally, he crossed it with a big smile on his face. He had proved himself and shown that nothing could stop him from chasing his dreams. 1】He showed that he knew it was hard, but he really wanted to keep going.(运用了 that 引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型 2】He had proved himself and shown that nothing could stop him from chasing his dreams.(运用了 that引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 濮阳市一高高一年级2025-2026学年第二学期第三次质量检测 英语试卷 (时间:120分钟 满分:150分) 命题人:濮阳市一高英语命题中心 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. C If a stranger knocked on your door asking for using your phone, would you help? D Scammers (骗子) are becoming tricky, turning to the Internet to better cheat their targets out of money. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
