主题01 人与自我——情感体验与人际关系
Passage 1
My heart stopped at that moment. I was worried that the baker would react coldly or even push my son away, which would hurt him deeply. However, to my surprise, the baker just smiled warmly at my son. He gently patted my son’s head and said, “Sure, I’d love to be your best friend.” My heart was filled with relief and gratitude. I knew that this simple act of kindness would mean the world to my son, who had always longed for acceptance.
Through tears, I saw the baker allowing my son to “help” him. My son was overjoyed as he was given a small piece of dough to knead. The baker patiently guided him, showing him how to press and fold the dough. As they worked together, I could see that a genuine friendship was forming between them. This moment turned out to be one of the most beautiful and heartwarming experiences of my life. It reminded me that kindness and acceptance can come from the most unexpected places.

Passage 1
After much consideration, Carlos arrived at the cultural center the next day. His heart was pounding with a mix of excitement and nervousness as he stepped inside. Mr. Staples was already there, waiting for him with a warm smile. “Carlos, I’m so glad you came. This is your chance to shine,” he said encouragingly. Together, they discussed the design for the mural, and Carlos poured his heart and soul into creating a vibrant nature scene. 主题03 人与自我——挑战自我与克服恐惧
Passage 1
The audience was completely silent as I spoke the first sentence. My voice, initially weak and trembling, gradually grew stronger as I continued. I shared personal stories about honesty, how it had guided me through difficult times and taught me valuable lessons. With each word, I felt more confident, as if a new strength was flowing through me. The silence in the room was replaced by focused attention, and I could see some of my classmates nodding in agreement. I realized that I wasn’t just speaking; I was connecting with them, sharing something meaningful. The fear that had gripped me earlier faded away, replaced by a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
When I finished the speech, all my classmates stood up and cheered. The applause was thunderous, and I was overwhelmed with a mix of relief and joy. My teacher walked up to me with a big smile, patting me on the back and saying, “Well done, Richard! You really nailed it!” My classmates surrounded me, offering congratulations and words of encouragement. I felt a warmth in my heart that I had never experienced before. That day, I not only delivered a speech but also overcame my shyness and gained newfound confidence. I realized that stepping out of my comfort zone could lead to amazing experiences and personal growth. From then on, I became more active in class and participated in various activities, no longer afraid of being in the spotlight.
主题04 人与自我——家庭关系与社区互助
Passage 1
Feeling excited, I accepted Juan and David’s offer of help. They were quite excited and soon visited our house with tools. With great care, they fixed the front door and the windows, and then painted the walls with fresh colours we preferred. Each day, as Juan and David worked, every brushstroke was like magic. Meanwhile, I helped a little by mowing the grasses. My Granny’s pizza served as best drives for our labour. When the painting was done, the house looked amazing. I stood in the yard, my eyes turning teary. Later the news of my house was spread.
Weeks later, I found my classmates coming to visit my beautiful home. They were amazed at the change and couldn’t stop praising the fresh colours and tidy surroundings. The once scary house had become a welcoming place. Some kids apologised for their disrespectful behaviours, which I accepted with friendliness. We spent the day playing in the yard, enjoying Granny’s snacks, and exploring the newly beautified house. Thanks to Juan and David’s efforts and Granny’s encouragement, the house was no longer a secret to be hidden but a home to be celebrated. And I was proud to call it mine.
主题05 人与社会——网络安全与家庭教育
Passage 1
The next day, I accidentally told Mom that I would meet my Internet friend alone. Upon hearing that, she began annoying me with a ton of questions, with her face full of anxiety. I eventually told her that Bradley was going to take me for ice cream near my school. “No. Never will you meet a stranger all alone. You are just a 12-year-old girl!”, mom was beside herself with rage when I showed my determination to go. This was the first time in my life that I had witnessed my elegant lawyer mom lose temper. So furious was she that I had no choice but to bring her together. We prepared and drove to the ice-cream shop.
The moment we entered the ice-cream shop, there was no one but a weird grown-up. Noticing his strange appearance, I was enveloped by a sense of fear and clenched mom’s hands tightly. “Who are you? Are you Bradley?” asked my mom. Shocked and speechless, the man sprang from the chair, attempting to flee away. But it was too late. Mom grasped his hand with all her might and asked me to call the police. Finally, my plan with the secret Internet friend ended up with a narrow escape from being cheated. Whenever I recalled the unusual
experience, fear still lingered in my mind mixed with a sense of relief. Neither should we meet Internet friend without informing parents, nor should we share private information on the Internet.
主题06 人与自我——人际关系与友谊
Passage 1
When hearing the roommate’s words that day, I remembered my medicinal package. “Actually,” I replied with much confidence, “I have one.” “Great,” my roommate sounded hopeful. As I dug out the pack, we began to chat. Soon, many of the other girls on the same floor heard of my little medicinal package and paid me a visit. A girl with a headache nearly kissed my hands when I passed her simple painkillers. As the cold season approached, many needed cough drops. Each girl stayed to chat for a few moments.
The little gift I had questioned now led me toward new friendships. As it broke fevers, it also broke the ice, allowing me to meet and befriend many at college. A month later, I received a birthday party invitation from my roommate. “Come and celebrate with us!” read the cheerful type. Memories of my own party rushed back to me, and I smiled at the opportunity presenting itself. I knew exactly what the birthday party would mean — the chance to meet like-minded people.
主题07 人与自我——体育竞技与心理素质
Passage 1
The last minutes of the game were heating up. The other team had possession, and time was running out. With every second that ticked away, the pressure mounted. Suddenly, the opposing team’s star player broke free, heading straight for the basket. But Jack wasn’t going to let that happen. With a burst of speed, he lunged forward, stole the ball, and sprinted down the court. His heart pounding, he took a deep breath and launched a three-point shot just as the buzzer sounded. The ball soared through the air, and the crowd held its breath. The ball went through the hoop, securing their victory.
"I knew you could do it," Jack’s coach said, clapping him on the back. Jack looked up, surprised by the warmth in his coach’s eyes. "You showed great courage out there today, Jack. You faced your fears and came out on top. That’s what being a part of a team is all about—believing in each other and pushing through adversity." Jack smiled, feeling a sense of pride wash over him. He had learned an important lesson about perseverance and the power of believing in oneself.
主题08 人与自我——疾病应对与心理调适
Passage 1
I thought harder on how to save my plant. I consulted online, but still found no solution. One day, I turned to Mitch for help. As Mitch’s instructions worked, my anxiety lessened. I had accidentally discovered that the key to saving my lucky bamboo was right in front of me - it was the very act of tending to it.
As Mitch’s instructions worked, my anxiety lessened. I realized that the plant didn’t need me to be perfect, it just needed me to be there, to care and tend to it. I had been trying too hard to control everything, but this experience taught me that sometimes, the best thing we can do is simply provide the conditions for it to thrive. The days passed, the plant had returned to its former glory, and I had rediscovered my own strength - the power of care and the ability to trust myself.
主题09 人与社会——社会公德与志愿服务
Passage 1
So he went to his father and asked whether he could take the blankets to the homeless downtown for the night. His father was surprised but also proud of his son’s empathy and willingness to help others. He agreed to drive Trevor to the downtown area and together they handed out the blankets to the homeless people they came across. The smile on the faces of the homeless people and the gratitude in their eyes made Trevor feel that he had done something truly meaningful. From that night on, Trevor made it his mission to help the homeless people in his
city.
To collect more blankets, the next day Trevor went to some public places where there were notice boards. He put up some posters appealing to people to donate any spare blankets they had. He also went to his school and asked his classmates to help him in this mission. Slowly but surely, Trevor was able to collect a lot of blankets. He and his father started to drive downtown more often to distribute the blankets to the people in need. They also started to bring food and other necessary things for the homeless people.
主题10 人与自我——人际关系与情绪管理
Passage 1
One day after school in the rehearsal room, I approached Avery. “Hey, Avery,” I said. “I was wondering if you could help me with my lines. I know you’re busy, but I really need your help.” Avery looked up at me and smiled. “Sure, I’d be happy to help.” We spent the next hour going over my lines and she gave me some great advice on how to make my performance more expressive. I was so grateful for her help and I could tell that she was happy to be able to help me.
Then came the big day. We both performed our parts perfectly and the audience was thrilled. After the show, Avery and I hugged each other and thanked each other for our help. I was so glad that I had given her time and understanding, and that she had come around. From then on, we were even better friends than before.
主题01 人与自我——家庭生活与节日庆祝
Passage 1
My dad handed us the final envelope, and the final poem told us to knock on the door. I could hardly contain my excitement as we stood in front of the unfamiliar house, wondering what awaited us inside. Brandon knocked on the door, and we waited in anticipation for someone to answer. After what seemed like ages, the door slowly
opened. A stranger, later known as the keeper, revealed a small cute ten - week - old cat staring up at us with big blue eyes. We both held the breath in surprise and looked up at our dad, who was smiling playfully.
Dad was standing behind us by then, and "Merry Christmas," he said," The cat's yours." We couldn't believe it. We had been begging our parents for a pet for years, but they had always said no. Now, we had our very own cat, thanks to the Treasure Hunt. We lifted the cat up and hugged him close, feeling grateful and overjoyed. That Treasure Hunt was the best one yet, and it had given us the greatest gift of all. That was the day that cat became part of our family. It was a gift far beyond anything I could have imagined.
主题02 人与自我——社会关爱与医者仁心
Passage 1
“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago. “47 cents!” Tess replied without any hesitation. To her surprise, the man said that he was a doctor and that it was a fair price for a miracle. Overcome with excitement, Tess grasped his hand, leading him to her home. With doubt and hope, Dad and Mom had Andrew checked by the man, who declared that he would perform an operation on the boy and promised it wouldn’t be long before he could pick himself up. Hearing his words, the whole family burst into tears of joy.
The operation was completed. Hardly had Andrew been sent back home when his parents went to thank the doctor with Tess, for they knew that 47 cents was a joke for an operation. They promised to save enough money to pay for the bill only to be told that Tess had paid for it.“It’s a fair deal," the doctor explained to the parents, and then looked into Tess’s eyes, smiling, “47 cents was what it cost—plus the faith of a little girl.”
主题03 人与自我——学业压力与自我肯定
Passage 1
Hearing the teacher’s words, Mai Lin smiled. She knew what was coming. They’d done lots of physical fitness training at her old school and she was quite good at rope climbing. “Who’s first?” the teacher asked. “Alison?” To
Mai Lin’s surprise, Alison turned as pale as the moon and shook her head. “She’s scared,” Mai Lin thought. “Perfect Alison was scared.” Suddenly Mai Lin heard her own voice saying, “I’ll do it.” Alison looked up at Mai Lin in great surprise, and all the other classmates seemed surprised, too. The teacher nodded and told Mai Lin to climb.
Paragraph 2:
Mai Lin stepped forward and got close to the rope. She appeared calm but was extremely excited. She climbed the rope very fast and reached the ceiling within what seemed a few seconds, effortlessly. As she reached the top, she glanced down at her fellow students below. Now it was Alison who appeared like a small ant. She saw Alison looking up, eyes wide with admiration. Mai Lin clung to the top of the rope for a moment longer and then headed down to join the class. Once she got on the ground, everybody cheered. Mai Lin knew she would be different from that day on.
主题04 人与自我——家庭关系与情感接纳
Passage 1
Right then, Henry sensed my embarrassment. He immediately came to my aid. With a calm and steady hand, he quickly retied the drawstring on my skirt, saving me from further humiliation. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you,” he whispered, offering a reassuring smile. I felt a surge of gratitude mixed with guilt for all the negative thoughts I had harbored against him. I regretted having treated him as a stranger. While my mind was wandering, our performance time came. It turned out to be a great success, thunderous applause filling the whole theatre.
After the performance, I found Henry and tapped him on the arm gratefully. “Thank you, Henry,” I said with a grateful smile on my face. I had to admit that but for his timely help, I would have been extremely embarrassed. “That’s what brothers are for,” he replied simply. At that moment, I realized how wrong I had been about him. Henry wasn’t stealing my mother’s love or ruining my life; he was becoming an integral part of our family, bringing his own strengths and kindness. As we walked back to the car, I felt a newfound bond with Henry, understanding that our differences could be a source of strength rather than division.
主题05 人与自我——生活习惯与自理能力
Passage 1
However, Mom was still reading and said nothing. Arthur wasn’t sure if she had heard him or not, so he called for help again, but Mom still didn’t come. Then Arthur realized maybe it was he that could solve his problem at that very moment. He quietly picked up the toy train and put it in the box. It only took a minute for him to put the toy away, and now he wouldn’t have to worry about hurting his feet again.
“Mom?” said Arthur. “Tomorrow can you show me how to do the laundry so I can wash my socks?” “Of course,” said Mom. “It’s nice to see you begin to learn to take care of yourself. I am always here to do whatever I can to help you become a more independent boy.” Arthur felt better. He didn’t want to wait until the next laundry day to have clean socks again. Maybe being neat wasn’t so hard after all.
主题06 人与自我——家庭生活与情感交流
Passage 1
With the rubber duck in hand, Paul said impatiently, “Okay, Mum!” He passed the rubber duck to Tom, who grinned with delight at the sight of the toy. Tom gently pushed the duck across the surface of the water as if it were swimming. Then he squeezed the duck, with water splashing on Paul’s face. Almost immediately, Paul began to “fight” back, and it soon turned into a “water fight”. Then came happy laughter from where they were, bathing them in extreme joy.
Mum came back to the bathroom with a new bottle and a birthday gift. “Happy Birthday, Paul!” Looking at the gift, Paul screamed with joy, “Oh, it is the very birthday gift that I have dreamed of for long and I only told Dad once. Thanks, Mum.” Suddenly a tiny hand seized Paul and handed the rubber duck to him. “For me?” Paul asked surprisedly. Without hesitation, Tom nodded his head wildly. Overwhelmed with excitement, Paul said to Mum, “Tom gave me his favorite toy!” “What a special birthday present!” Mum laughed, giving the brothers a tight hug.
主题07 人与自我——家庭角色与责任分担
Passage 1
Mother lay still in the quiet room, listening for family sounds. She felt terrible! But everyone else seemed great. In fact, there seemed to be a party that was going on with loud laughs from the children. There was a sudden crash. Then a voice shouted, “Get the baby out of the way—before he cuts himself. Don’t break. Mom’s rest!” Another crash came! The younger girl rushed in with news. “They dropped your plate and the dog ate all your dinner.” The girl ran off. There was more noise.
Suddenly, the children appeared with sweet smiles, proud of what they brought. There is a glass of water, three beans, a cold boiled potato and a small piece of burned meat. Immediately, Mother felt great. As the children watched carefully, she ate her cold dinner. “Everything tastes so good,” Mom smiled, showing her appreciation. “Thank you for acting positively, my kids. I feel better now.”
主题08 人与自我——社会安全与自我防范
Passage 1
Finally, I arrived home, and I began crying when I saw my mom. “Mom, I was scared to death on the way home just now, and a bad man followed me all the time. Fortunately, I hid behind the car, and he didn't find me, so he left.” I said incoherently. After hearing this, my mother also showed a frightened expression on her face. She said, “Fortunately, you’re safe. But where’s your father? Isn’t he picking you up?” I showed an aggrieved expression and said, “I waited for him outside for a while, but he didn't turn up. I thought it was time to go home, so I came back first. ” At this time, my father hurried in, and he said to his mother,“I didn't get our daughter. When I went to pick her up, I didn’t see her. Her friend said she had gone home. I chased out, and it seemed that I saw her on the road, but she disappeared in a moment.”
Hearing what my dad said, my mom couldn’t help laughing. Mother said cunningly, “Look, who’s that?” Then she winked at me. My father turned to look at me, and then showed a relieved and surprised expression. He asked me, “Didn’t you hear me when I called you? What were you running for?” I smiled awkwardly, glanced at my mother, and then said, “Well..., I was very afraid, thinking you were a bad person, so I hid.” Dad laughed after
listening, and encouraged me that I did well and know how to protect myself. But my father also said at least I should look around. In fact, sometimes things are not as bad as I think. After that, I realized that excessive fear will affect our judgment and thinking, so no matter what happens, we should be calm.

Passage 1

I have been deeply touched by many acts of kindness throughout my life. Yet, none shines as brightly as the moment I witnessed at the bakery at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.
I had visited the village that day with my son who needed additional oversight. When he was a little child, it was very clear to me that there was something different about him. My son was constantly on the move and had no sense of danger, requiring that his caregivers watch his every move to prevent him from running away or heading into traffic. He also loved strangers, thinking that everyone was his potential best friend. He greeted everyone with a hug.
The fact that he looked much older than his actual age and he acted much younger, made it even harder for strangers to accept him. Although my son was still too young to recognize when he was being rejected, every cold word, or look of pity broke my heart. I was afraid of taking him out in public.
That day, at the village, I had walked around holding my son’s hand, ready to protect him from being hurt by anyone. When we passed by a bakery, noticing a baker kneading the dough (揉面团), he pulled his hand out of mine, ran over to the building, wrapped his arms around the man’s legs, and asked if he would be his best friend.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Carlos Perez has always loved art, but he has not always chosen the proper ways to show it. His life was once messy. He made poor decisions and had a negative influence on others. He showed his artistic abilities through graffiti (涂鸦), using spray paint (喷漆) on public spaces.
But one day, everything changed. That noon, a cold wind blew as Carlos held his spray cans tightly. Restless and driven by habit, he slipped quietly to the school stairway. His hands shook-. not from the cold, but from fear. It was his first time to make a daring decision to leave his expression of creativity in such a serious place.
Buried in the world of color and imagination, he painted a golden bird whose wings and eyes shone in the
sunlight like living fire... until someone came.
A tap on his shoulder froze him, heart beating fast. Carlos dropped his spray can. He had expected a scolding (责骂) — or punishment. Immediately, the thought of running away flashed in his mind.
“Hold up, Picasso!” A voice cut through the quietness. It was Mr. Staples, the art teacher, who approached. Warm appreciative smile flooded on his face as Mr. Staples took a photo slowly. “That bird is awesome… Your art belongs to the art museum! How did you make it so perfect?”
“I... I used to graffiti on walls. I love everything in nature.” said Carlos. Mr. Staples nodded with great interest. “You know,” he said, “there’s an art festival next month at the community cultural center. We’ve been looking for someone to redesign the mural (壁画).” He handed Carlos a card with an address. “Come tomorrow! I will be there for you.”
Carlos looked at the card. Then he picked up the spray can. For the first time, he felt hopeful.注意:

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One morning, I sat in the back of the classroom, feeling nervous and restless. I had always been shy and hated being in the spotlight. I rarely participated in activities or spoke in class. That day, however, our teacher announced we would have a class assembly (集会) next week, and each class needed to select a student to give a short speech about the importance of honesty.
The room fell silent as my classmates looked at each other nervously. The teacher asked, “Who would like to volunteer?” She looked directly at me and I shook my head, hoping not to be chosen. But she smiled and pointed, saying, “You, Richard.” My heart raced. I wanted to say no, but I could feel everyone’s eyes on me. My face turned red and my hands were shaking, but I accepted the challenge.
After school, I still could not believe it. I rehearsed (排练) giving a speech on honesty in the empty classroom. Fear and excitement mixed inside me as I imagined all the students waiting for me. I knew it was a big challenge, but a small voice inside told me it could be a chance to change something.
The next morning, I bought a notebook and started writing the speech. I rehearsed each line in front of a mirror. My voice quivered (颤抖) at first, but slowly I gained courage. I wrote and rewrote the speech, remembering how honesty had helped me before. It felt strange but comforting to watch myself speak.
On the morning of the assembly, my knees shook backstage as I waited for my turn. Finally, the moment came and I walked up to the stage with sweaty hands but determined eyes. I took a deep breath and stepped forward. My heart was racing as I prepared to speak.

Passage 1

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
At the far end of town sat an old house. Kids in my school considered it scary but this was where I lived with mom and my little brother, Andy.
The outside of the old house might make you think twice about entering. Dropping paint showed black images beneath. Shaky windows hung outside. And long grass surrounded the house.
Dad was away for work and mom rented (租) the house for our previous apartment was too small. She cleaned every room and helped me paint mine into Sea Blue. But the outside remained unchanged because mom got no time and our house owner, who agreed to help, broke his legs recently.
The following days, I always avoided inviting classmates to my house. Then Granny came. Andy wouldn’t be in kindergarten until next year, so having Granny watch him while mom worked would save expense. She usually sat at the kitchen table, helping Andy with his numbers while the smell of newly-made bread filled the house.
I kept my secret safe until one day a classmate pointed me out. I felt my face grow hot. With more students gathering, I could not bear it, saying, “Yes, we moved. But the house will look better once we have it painted!”
When I got home, I ran outside and found a ladder and a mower (梯子和割草机). I moved the mower around but soon got tired. “What’s wrong?” Granny asked. I told her what happened with tears.
Granny shook her head. “They will make fun of everything. This is a fine house and you all have worked hard to make it nice.”
The next day at school, a boy named Juan stopped me. He said his friend David and he were starting a paint business. They were wondering if I would allow them to paint our house. “It is actually a nice house with good bones.” he said.
After school, I told Granny that offer. Granny said it would be fine and she could offer them delicious pizza as rewards.

【答案】

When I was a twelve-year-old girl, I was so addicted to chatting online that some people even called me CyberSara. My mom, a lawyer, always complained that I spent too much time chatting with my Internet friends.
One day I got an instant message from a kid I didn’t know. His name was Bradley, who said he was twelve and lived in New York. He asked if he could be my secret friend, and I thought that seemed pretty cool. Within a few days’ chatting, I found that we both loved to play soccer, even though I didn’t play as much as I used to. To my great joy, we both loved playing computer games very much.
Every day, Bradley and I chatted and emailed each other. We became best friends. He was interesting and seemed kind of smart—actually, much smarter than the typical (典型的,平常的) twelve-year-old boys I knew. I
really liked chatting with him. He told me he really liked me. Bradley kept telling me New York was a cool place to live and emailed me amazing pictures of extremely tall skyscrapers (摩天大楼). He asked me where I lived. I told him I lived in Tampa. One day, Bradley shared good news with me that he was coming to Tampa with his parents. He invited me to have a secret meeting and go for ice cream with him in the ice-cream shop near my school. Eager to find what my secret Internet friend was like, I promised to keep it a secret, not telling my parents about our plan.
I was excited that I was finally going to meet Bradley after months of chatting. However, he refused to send me a picture of himself, saying he didn’t want to ruin the surprise. It made me quite confused. Was there something wrong with him? Was he a weird (奇怪的) guy who was not confident enough to show a picture of himself? But he said everyone in his school thought he was the cutest boy in his class, so I thought he had to be normal.

【答案】
The next day, I accidentally told Mom that I would meet my Internet friend alone. Upon hearing that, she began annoying me with a ton of questions, with her face full of anxiety. I eventually told her that Bradley was going to take me for ice cream near my school. “No. Never will you meet a stranger all alone. You are just a
12-year-old girl!”, mom was beside herself with rage when I showed my determination to go.
Whenever I recalled the unusual experience, fear still lingered in my mind mixed with a sense of relief. Neither should we meet Internet friend without informing parents, nor should we share private information on the Internet.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Anybody have a bandage (创可贴) ?” a roommate spoke in a loud voice in the dormitory (宿舍) hallway.
It was our first week at college and we were all experiencing “being forgetful”. I had forgotten to bring snacks for late-night talks. Some poor girl who caught the earlier flight to the college had obviously forgotten bandages. It seemed that we were forced to move away from the home where we used to live.
Several months ago, I sat at my high school graduation party admiring my gifts and I was lost in thought. I found it hard to say goodbye to old friendships while longing for what would happen at college. The usual and beloved inspirational books were seated around my feet, silently telling about the wealth of wisdom they wished to share. A small pile of personal checks lay nearby. Notebooks with nice covers, desk supplies, and a collection of photos — all well-intentioned and well-received — they would show their givers’ thoughtfulness over and over during my college life.
But one gift struck me as strange. I frowned (皱眉) , figuring out what stayed inside when I opened it. Medicine? A small box of pills, creams, bandages and some other medical items lay within the package. Who would give that as a gift?
“You’ll need that once you’re at college,” Mom pointed out. “You won’t have to turn to the campus nurse for every cough. Luck can often mean simply taking advantage of a situation at the right moment. It is possible to make your luck by always being prepared.”
Not long after, in August, I packed my life into a borrowed truck and carried the bag of medicine along with my backpack. I hardly thought about it once I reached the campus, caught in the massive work of unpacking, book-buying, scheduling and preparing myself for the new school life.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the school’s basketball court, Jack felt a knot in his stomach. It was the day of the annual school basketball tournament(锦标赛), and he was the team’s new point guard. Despite his talent, he had never played in such a high-pressure situation before. His teammates were counting on him, and the crowd was buzzing with expectation.
As the game started, Jack’s nerves got the better of him. He pass the ball, missed a pass, and his team fell behind early. The crowd’s cheers turned to murmurs of disappointment. Jack’s coach, a strict man with a deep voice, called a timeout. He approached Jack, his face a mix of concern and determination.
“Jack,” he said, “you’ve got the skills, but you need to believe in yourself. This game isn’t just about winning; it’s about getting through your fears. Now, go out there and show them what you’re made of.”
With a deep breath, Jack nodded. He knew he had to change his mindset. As he stepped back onto the court, he felt a flood of determination.
Jack’s eyes scanned the court, his mind clear and focused. He could hear his coach’s words circling in his ears. The game continued, and Jack took control. He dribbled(运球) with confidence, weaving through the opposing team’s defense with ease. His first shot was a perfect arc, swishing(发出沙沙声) through the net with a satisfying sound.
As the game progressed, Jack continued to make strategic plays. He passed the ball to his teammates in the perfect moments, setting them up for easy baskets. His defense was equally impressive, stealing passes and blocking shots. The score began to draw up, and by the final quarter, his team was in the lead.

【答案】

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建莆田·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My lucky bamboo
I don’t usually keep houseplants. Anything in pots gets either overwatered or underwatered. But after my diagnosis(诊断) with Covid-19, I was forced to stay at home. Feeling lonely, I loved the idea of having something new and green around.
My friend Mitch, a gardener, gave me what he said was a lucky bamboo plant in a tiny green pot with three pencil-size stalks(茎) tied together. I placed the plant in the living room where I spent much of the day. I smiled when I looked at it over the cup of coffee.
I was used to being the one who provided care, not the one who received it. Covid-19 left me weak, making it hard for me to do everyday tasks. Tending to the plant gave me a sense of achievement at a time when I sometimes felt useless.
Since my diagnosis in March 2020, far too often, it seemed, I had to rely on help from other people. The enormous change left me feeling unsettled. Watering the plant, as small an act as it was, connected me to my old identity and taught me I could still be a caregiver. Plants and people could still depend on me.
Over time, I continued to care for the plant. Soon, it had nearly doubled in height. Both the plant and I were thriving(茂盛). However, mysteriously, it began to show signs of stress. I increased my watering, then decreased it. I nestled coffee grounds(渣) into the soil to enrich it. I fed it commercial plant food. No matter what I did, the leaves kept browning and dropping to the floor. I grew more and more hopeless and uneasy.

【答案】

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建宁德·期末)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Sometimes when you are a kid, it is easy to feel pretty helpless. Indeed, if you stop and think about it, there are so many things that you can’t do. You can’t play sports as well as your football or basketball heroes. You can’t do some of the stunts (特技动作) that other kids do at the skate park. Sometimes it is hard to see that you even
have the potential to develop any of these abilities. What you want to achieve may seem such a long way in the future that it feels you will never reach it.
Well, I once beard an inspiring story—a true story, I believe—about a boy named Trevor. It shows there are little things kids can do that make a big difference. One night Trevor was doing what a lot of other 13-year-old kids would be doing: He was watching TV. On the news he saw a story about some homeless people sleeping out in the cold on the streets, in a downtown area of Philadelphia where he lived. Trevor had never really stopped to think how fortunate he was to live in a fairly well-to-do suburb(郊区) of the same city. The story of the homeless people touched his heart and he began to wonder what he could do to help these people.
It might have been easy for Trevor to forget about it. There are so many sad stories that you see on TV at times. This could have been just another that he ignored.
Trevor also might have thought, “Well, what can I do about it? I’m just a kid’‘, but he didn’t. Instead he began to wonder how he might help and that led him to remember there were some spare, unused blankets in their garage.
注意:

To collect more blankets, the next day Trevor went to some public places where there were notice boards.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
So he went to his father and asked whether he could take the blankets to the homeless downtown for the night. His father was surprised but also proud of his son’s empathy and willingness to help others. He agreed to drive Trevor to the downtown area and together they handed out the blankets to the homeless people they came across. The smile on the faces of the homeless people and the gratitude in their eyes made Trevor feel that he had done something truly meaningful. From that night on, Trevor made it his mission to help the homeless people in his city.

People often have a tough time dealing with their feelings of disappointment. That is when you should give them time and understanding and he or she just might come around before long.
I remember talking with my friend Avery about the coming school play Alices Adventure in Wonderland, which we both applied for. Avery had a talent for acting and she was anxious for playing Alice while for me I didn’t care what part I played as long as I would be in. However, when character list was posted, we were surprised to find that I got the part of Alice and Avery was chosen to act the rabbit. I guessed it was because I hadn’t been nervous at all during the audition (试演). But that situation really didn’t occur to me.
Then I asked Avery, “Do you want to come over after school and we can practice our lines?” “You mean, practice your lines?” Avery replied, not even looking at me. “No, thanks. I’m pretty busy this week.” I continued to ask if it would be OK for next week but her answer was negative and full of anger.
That night at dinner, after my parents congratulated me on getting the lead role, they asked how I felt. “Well, I can’t understand.” I said and told them about Avery’s reaction and I believed that she pretty much threw away our friendship.
“Hmm,” said my dad. “Arizona, don’t you think this might be an opportunity for you to be an extra-good friend?” “Dad’s right,” added my mom. “Sometimes when our friends do well, we feel envious (羡慕的) and don’t
know how to act. Try giving her a little time and understanding. She’ll come around.”
Over the next week, I did my best to give Avery some space. I practised my lines but I knew I needed some help since my voice was not expressive enough. Day by day, Avery’s attitude seemed softened. As the rehearsal (彩排) day was near, I made a decision.

【答案】

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建永春一中·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Christmas was drawing near, and came along with it our favorite moment — the Treasure Hunt.
In the past, my brother Brandon and I had opened all of the packages under the tree. All that was left was an envelope. We knew that envelopes usually contained cards, and if we were lucky, they also contained gift cards or cash.
However, this Christmas my dad looked almost like he’d forgotten about the envelope as he casually handed it to me. I opened it and discovered inside a 3x5 index card (索引卡) with a border of shining surrounding a poem. Of course, I don’t remember the poem by heart, but its rhyming message instructed us to go downstairs. We were excited. Maybe we were getting a pet we had wanted.
What we found downstairs was another envelope, containing another index card with a border of shining surrounding a poem. This poem told us to go to Dad’s car. Was the pet already in the car, ready to go?
No! There was just another envelope containing another shining index card. This one told us to go to Mom’s office downtown. Neither of us was old enough to drive. This meant we had to beg our parents to hurry up and get dressed and finish drinking their coffee and get going.
Eventually, we made it to Mom’s office where we found — you guessed it — a poem telling us to go somewhere else. This time it was to the TV station where Dad worked. By now, our curiosity was stretched to the limits of our imaginations.
We soon found out, however, that such a desk at the studio is a lovely place to keep a 3x5 index card with a poem, which confused us more than any other. It told us to go to an unfamiliar address.
The car stopped in front of the unknown house. It felt like the end of the hunt.

【答案】
My dad handed us the final envelope, and the final poem told us to knock on the door. I could hardly contain my excitement as we stood in front of the unfamiliar house, wondering what awaited us inside. Brandon knocked on the door, and we waited in anticipation for someone to answer. After what seemed like ages, the door slowly opened.

Passage 1
Price of a Miracle
Only a very costly operation could save him now and it was looking like there was no one to lend them the money. She heard Dad say to her tearful mom with desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.”
Tess went to her bedroom and poured all the change she had saved out on the floor and counted it carefully: 47 cents. She slipped out of home and made her way to Rexall’s Drug Store. She waited patiently for the pharmacist (药剂师) to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment. Finally, she took a quarter from her pocket and banged it on the glass counter. That did it! “And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I’m talking to my brother from Chicago Medical University whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone.“He’s really, really sick and I want to buy a miracle.”
“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.” Tess answered with a blind faith.
The pharmacist’s brother was a well-dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a
miracle does your brother need?” “I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up.
“I just know he’s really sick and Mom says he needs an operation. But my dad can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”

【答案】

Passage 1
(23-24高一下·福州格致中学·期末)
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Mai Lin wasn’t doing well enough at school, or at least she wasn’t satisfied with herself. She wished she
could do better.
“Let’s review the material we learned in the last unit,” the history teacher said. “Who can tell us what caused the War of 1812?” Mai Lin sat at her desk, staring ahead. She hoped the teacher wouldn’t call her name. They hadn’t studied the War of 1812 at her old school and she didn’t know the answer.
“Alison?” the teacher asked instead. Oh, perfect, Mai Lin thought. Of course Alison would have the answer. She seemed to have all the answers. Alison was the most popular girl in school – always surrounded by millions of boyfriends, best friends, and others. She was like a brilliant sun.
Mai Lin hadn’t made one or two friends of her own so far. Her old school was small and low-key, but a shy person like Mai Lin had a chance there. This new school, however, seemed as big as an airport to Mai Lin, and it seemed very hard to get around in it. She still got lost sometimes in the school.
Mai Lin frowned (皱眉) as Alison answered the teacher’s question. Alison probably never got lost, Mai Lin thought to herself. You could probably put Alison down in the middle of a desert, and within five minutes she’d be able to tell you the best way to get home.
History class finally ended, and Mai Lin headed for the gym. The class had been playing basketball. Alison, who was as tall and thin and attractive as a tree, was very good at it. Beside her, Mai Lin felt like a very small and foolish ant. Today, however, the gym teacher pointed to a thick rope hanging from the ceiling and said, “Everybody! You’re going to climb this rope today.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Mai Lin stepped forward and got close to the rope.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Hearing the teacher’s words, Mai Lin smiled. She knew what was coming. They’d done lots of physical fitness training at her old school and she was quite good at rope climbing. “Who’s first?” the teacher asked. “Alison?” To Mai Lin’s surprise, Alison turned as pale as the moon and shook her head.

Passage 1
(21-22高一下·莆田一中·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was in my room, unwilling to head to the community theatre with “my brother” Henry. He was just adopted by my parents recently. I was not in the mood for being onstage with him.
“Kristie, come here,” my mom called. Following her voice, I found her outside the bathroom, holding a wet book. She gave the book a shake. “Henry’s book was in the bathtub. Did you put it there?” She glared at me — something she never did before Henry came to our home. I didn’t wet his book on purpose. Tears of hurt clouded my eyes. Worse still, she promised to buy him a new copy. My heart ached. Henry was stealing my mother’s love. He was ruining my life.
Meanwhile, Henry was just nearby, absorbed in working on a complicated rope knot (绳结) as usual. Why did a boy like him do the girly work? Far from manly!
Soon, it was time to have to set off for the community theatre. As Henry walked ahead of us to the car, my mom took me aside and said in a low voice, “It’s the first time for Henry to be onstage. Be kind to him. Honey.” I nodded but sighed. Being kind didn’t use to be hard. But after Henry moved in, everything felt different. The theatre used to be a special place for my parents and me. With Henry involved, it didn’t seem so special any more.
Finally, it was our stage time. My heart beat wildly. I forgot my annoyance at Henry for a while. As we kids lined up, ready to act out our short play, I realized how loosely I had tied the drawstring (束带) on my skirt. Sure enough, my skirt began to drop. Laughter from the audience could be heard, and even though I was wearing shorts under my skirt, I could feel my face burst into flames. However, my hands were full. If only someone could help
me out!

After the performance, I found Henry and tapped him on the arm gratefully.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】

Passage 1
(21-22高一下·福建莆田·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Arthur was messy. He didn’t try to make messes, but he didn’t try to clean up much, either. There were always small pieces of food on the table when he was done eating. His socks never made it into the hamper (洗衣篮). And he only picked up his toys when Mom threatened to throw them away. Most days, Mom followed Arthur around the house and cleaned up after him. She brushed the crumbs (碎屑) into her hand and threw them away after meals. She picked up his socks and made sure they got washed, dried and folded neatly before going back in the drawer. She often picked up his toys when he left them to do something else.
One day, Mom asked Arthur to pick up his toy trains. “Not right now,” Arthur said. He was reading a comic book. The trains had been on the living room floor since the morning.
“You know what, Arthur? I’m not going to ask you again. I’m done cleaning today.” And with that, Mom put her feet up on the sofa and picked up a book to read.
At dinner time, Arthur noticed that there was a big pile of crumbs at his place at the table. Mom’s spot was nice and clean. Arthur didn’t like the crumbs very much. After dinner, Arthur’s feet felt cold. He went to his room and opened his drawer, but the drawer was empty. “Mom, where are my socks?” Arthur called.
“There weren’t any socks in your hamper, so I didn’t wash them,” Mom said. Arthur felt unhappy. Now his feet would be cold, unless he wanted to wear dirty socks from the floor. He decided to stay barefoot.
When it was time for bed, Arthur said good night to Mom and turned to go upstairs. Arthur stepped right on his toy train in his bare feet. “Ouch!” cried Arthur. “That really hurt.”

【答案】

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·宁德第一中学·期末)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Paul’s Birthday Surprise
Paul woke up feeling very happy. Today was his birthday. Paul was now 5 years old. At breakfast, Dad poured some milk into a bowl for Paul and handed him a piece of bread. “See you later, Paul.” Dad said. Dad took his lunch with him in a hurry and ran out the door. Paul ate a bite of bread, feeling upset. Dad always made him a special pancake with delicious chocolate chips. Did Dad forget his birthday?
Paul looked across the table at his baby brother Tom, who was only one year old. He needed help to do everything. Tom banged the table and laughed happily when Mum put some baby food into his mouth. “Mum, can we go to the park today?” Paul asked, with his eyes shining with eagerness. Mum looked over Tom’s head to look out the kitchen window. “I don’t think so,” she said, “it looks like it will rain.” Hearing this, Paul was buried in disappointment. He wanted his birthday to be special and memorable. However, everything wasn’t going in the way as he had expected.
After breakfast, Mum had to give Tom a bath. Tom was an untidy eater, with food and milk sticking to his face and hair. Mum put him in the bath tub and began to scrub (擦洗). She reached for the shampoo (洗发水), but it was empty. “Paul, please come here!” Paul got to the bathroom and Mum handed him Tom’s favorite rubber duck, saying to Paul, “Please play with your little brother until I get a new shampoo bottle.”

Paragraph 1:
Mum came back to the bathroom with a new bottle and a birthday gift.

【答案】

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Mother had just taken her temperature—and it was over 38℃.
It was right after lunch. The older children were at school, and the baby was sleeping. There was no reason why Mother could not go to bed. But first she had a few things to do: prepare the bean and beef for dinner, leave a note for the cleaners, do the washing and carry out the rubbish.
At last, she sank (瘫倒) into... bed. Ah-h-h-h-! Her aching legs enjoyed comfort from the cool sheets. Her burning eyes closed. She was asleep!
Then, suddenly, the children threw open the front door as they burst home from school. “Mum! Mum! Where ARE you?” Mother tried to answer but their cries rose over her weak calls. Soon they found her—in bed. “Didn’t you even get up yet?” cried the younger girl. “How am I going to get to Bills?” asked the boy. “What about dinner? We’ve got to eat,” said the older girl.
Mother understood. She knew that the children weren’t used to a mother in bed. “I’m sick,” she said. “I can’t do anything. I’ll just have to leave it all to you. Cook the potatoes… take care of the baby... set the table.”
The children stormed out like soldiers going into battle. For a time Mother was left to the quiet of her room and the ache in her head.
Then Father arrived home. He stepped into the bedroom and reached for her hand. He looked tired. Mother started worrying about him. “It’s nothing, darling,” she said. “I can get up and do dinner and…”
Father shook his head, “The kids and I will take over. We’ll get along fine without you.”

On Saturday night, my best friend called and invited me to her birthday the next day. I was very excited to go there, but I needed permission from my parents.
I went to my dad’s room and softly said, “Dad, tomorrow is my best friend’s birthday and I really want to go.” Papa said, “OK. I don’t mind, but ask your mom.”
I asked my mom and she said, “OK. You can go, but you have to be back before 10.”
The next morning my mom was surprised to see me. No alarm. No Mom’s warning. I just woke up by myself. Finally, the whole day had passed and it was party time. My dad dropped me off at my friend’s place and told me that he would pick me up at 10. I said “OK” and ran away.
I enjoyed myself a lot at the party. We had dinner and played so many games. It was 10 finally. I remembered my mom telling me that I should be back before 10. I came out and started searching for my dad, but I could not find him. I was so worried and scared. I waited and waited, and then I started walking. I thought at least I could walk home as my house was 20 minutes away from my friend’s. As I was walking, I was crying as I had never walked alone on the road that late at night.
Suddenly I heard someone shouting something. I was scared and started walking fast. I thought some criminal(不法分子) was there. As I was walking fast, I heard someone walking fast behind me. I started running and crying, and then I saw some parked cars. I hid behind the cars. I saw a shadow searching for me. I hoped someone would help me. 【答案】
What were you running for?” I smiled awkwardly, glanced at my mother, and then said, “Well..., I was very afraid, thinking you were a bad person, so I hid.” Dad laughed after listening, and encouraged me that I did well and know how to protect myself. But my father also said at least I should look around. In fact, sometimes things are not as bad as I think. After that, I realized that excessive fear will affect our judgment and thinking, so no matter what happens, we should be calm.

(24-25高一下·福建莆田·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Buried in the world of color and imagination, he painted a golden bird whose wings and eyes shone in the sunlight like living fire... until someone came.
Mr. Staples nodded with great
interest.

One morning, I sat in the back of the classroom, feeling nervous and restless. I had always been shy and hated being in the spotlight. I rarely participated in activities or spoke in class. That day, however, our teacher announced we would have a class assembly (集会) next week, and each class needed to select a student to give a short speech about the importance of honesty.
The room fell silent as my classmates looked at each other nervously. The teacher asked, “Who would like to volunteer?” She looked directly at me and I shook my head, hoping not to be chosen. But she smiled and pointed,
saying, “You, Richard.” My heart raced.

He dribbled(运球) with confidence, weaving through the
opposing team’s defense with ease.

Passage 1

主题09 人与社会——社会公德与志愿服务
Sometimes it is hard to see that you even have the potential to develop any of these abilities.

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建泉州·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Sometimes when our friends do well, we feel envious (羡慕的) and don’t know how to act.

主题02 人与自我——社会关爱与医者仁心
He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?” “I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up.
“I just know he’s really sick and Mom says he needs an operation. But my dad can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”

Passage 1
(23-24高一下·福州格致中学·期末)
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Mai Lin wasn’t doing well enough at school, or at least she wasn’t satisfied with herself. She wished she could do better.
This new school, however, seemed as big as an airport to Mai Lin, and it
seemed very hard to get around in it.

If only someone could help me out!

Right then, Henry sensed my embarrassment.

He needed help to do
everything.

Passage 1
(21-22高一下·福建宁德·期末)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
After a while, I could not see the shadow, so I came out slowly and ran towards my home.
