However, pollution and cutting down too many trees were hurting these important places.

Have you ever wondered what Li Bai or Du Fu would say if they could speak to us today? Thanks to AI technology, creative vloggers are now bringing these ancient people “back to life”. They share stories in modern language, and their videos are taking the Internet by storm.
In one video, Du Fu talks about his experience during the An Lushan Rebellion (叛乱) (755-763). In another, Ming Dynasty medical expert (医学专家) Li Shizhen jokes about modern lifestyles. He makes fun of how people try to be healthy by drinking goji berry (枸杞) water but still stay up late. “The videos make me want to learn more about important ancient people. I didn’t know much about their stories before,” said Wang Jiayi excitedly,15, from Shandong.
The new fashion isn’t for everyone, however. Some people may be unhappy about the way these ancient people speak, in high tones and always asking questions. “They’re too pushy (强势), which is different from how they really were,” said a 14-year-old girl Wang Shuotong from Jiangsu.
Xia Boen, 14, from Hubei, felt the same. But he was surprised to find that he remembered almost everything they said about their experiences, thanks to the speaking style in the videos.
With AI, the old images we see in textbooks come to life. Young audiences (观众) can experience history through funny conversations. In this way, culture finds new ways to connect with our lives today.
54. How does the writer start the article?

①Chinese animated film Nobody has become a dark horse sweeping the box office this summer. After 29 days, it had made over 1.4 billion yuan. Many people love it, giving it a high score of 8.6 out of 10 on Douban, a famous review website.
②The story follows a small pig monster (怪兽) who lives in a place called Langlang Mountain. He works hard for the Cave King, but doesn’t know how to please the king and makes him angry. After losing his job, he decides to leave the mountain and teams up with three other small and nameless monsters. Together, they pretend (伪装) to be the famous group from Journey to the West and start a dangerous journey to grow and find their true selves.
③The film touches hearts because it shows the hardship of common people. The little monsters face big challenges (挑战) and laugh at difficulties. Even though they are weak, they fight bravely. Many viewers say they see themselves in these characters.
④Nobody also stands out for its beautiful art style. Made by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, it uses traditional Chinese painting skills. ⑤The movie also shows respect for Chinese culture. For example, it references (参考) the classic 1986 TV show Journey to the West and ancient buildings from Shanxi Province. These small details make the story feel both old and new.
⑥Nobody is more than just a movie. It shows that Chinese stories can be told in fresh, exciting ways. As one viewer said, “The real hero is someone who keeps trying, even when things are tough.” This simple but powerful message makes Nobody a must-watch for everyone.

In modern times, we get our weather report scientifically. The meteorologists(气象学家) use information from satellites (卫星) to tell us what the weather will be like. They predict about the weather for today, tomorrow and even for the whole season. Will it rain? Will it snow? Will it be hot or will it be a long and cold winter?
But what did people do before modern technology? Well, not so long ago, people lived much closer to nature. Using the power of observation (观察), humans predicted about the weather according to what was happening in the insect (昆虫) world. Sometimes their predictions were correct, and sometimes they weren’t.
My grandfather spent his whole life as a farmer in Canada. He is long gone now. But I still remember his stories about how to predict the weather. For example, in summer, he would often stop to observe the ant hills — those little sandy piles at the entrance (入口) to the ants’ nest.
“Look closely at the ant hills in July,” Grandpa used to say. “If the ant hills are high in July, expect a snowy winter.” Of course, as a kid, I believed my grandfather. But you know what? The ant hills are often correct. Not always, but often enough to make me a believer.
In September, Grandpa would often point out a woolly caterpillar (毛毛虫) in a sunny location, “Observe the orange circle around its belly (腹部). If it’s wide and full, we’re sure to have a warm and easy winter. If it is thin, be careful! The winter will be ▲ .”
I am older now. I get my weather mostly from the television or radio. Scientists hardly get it wrong. After all, they have the latest scientific tools to help them.
But I still stop to observe the ant hills in July, and of course, the woolly caterpillars in September. The older generation (一辈) can teach us many things. My grandfather was not a meteorologist, but he knew a lot about insects and the weather.
61. How did grandpa predict the weather?
A. By using scientific tools. B. Through television or radio.
C. With the power of observation. D. With the information from satellites.
62. What did grandpa observe to predict the weather in July?
A. Satellites. B. Ant hills. C. Woolly caterpillar. D. Scientific tools.
63. Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ ?
A. Cold and wet. B. Sunny and dry. C. Warm and easy. D. Cold and difficult.
64. Why does the writer still observe the ant hills and the woolly caterpillars?
A. Because he doesn’t believe weather reports. B. Because he likes to learn about the insect world.
C. Because he values the experience of older generation. D. Because he wants to become a farmer like his grandpa.
65. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. The power of observation. B. Weather according to insects. C. Weather report in modern times. D. Different ways to make predictions.
【答案】61. C 62. B 63. D 64. C 65. D

【导语】本文是一篇说明文,通过对比现代科学天气预报与爷爷靠观察昆虫(蚁丘、毛毛虫)预测天气的民间经验,表达了对老一辈生活智慧的认可与传承。
【61题详解】
第二段指出“Using the power of observation (观察), humans predicted about the weather...”,结合第三段祖父观察蚁丘的故事可知,祖父是通过观察自然现象(昆虫)来预测天气的。
【62题详解】
根据第四段祖父说的话“‘Look closely at the ant hills in July... If the ant hills are high in July...’”可知,祖父在七月是通过观察蚁丘来预测天气的。
【63题详解】
根据第五段“If it’s wide and full…warm and easy winter. If it is thin….”可知,此处存在对比关系:腹部圆圈宽满对应温暖轻松的冬天,那么圆圈薄则对应相反的冬天。与“warm and easy”形成最鲜明对比的是“cold and difficult”。
【64题详解】
最后一段指出“The older generation (老一辈) can teach us many things.”,表明作者仍然观察昆虫是因为他重视老一辈的经验和智慧。

Paper is one of our oldest, simplest and most important inventions. ____66____
First, the making of paper needs lots of trees each year. As reported, the world has lost nearly 400 million hectares (公顷) of forests in past twenty years. Of the trees that were cut down, 42 percent went to paper making. That is a great part of the world’s forests. ____67____ Clearly, the earth cannot survive in such a great forest loss (损失).
____68____ A lot of waste paper ends up in rubbish and even landfills (垃圾填埋场), where it can give off harmful gases (气体). And the harmful gases cause global warming.
One simple way to help out can greatly reduce both of these problems: paper recycling (回收利用). ____69____ Recycling needs an effort from everyone all over the world. The way to begin is with education and understanding. Once enough people realize the need for recycling, more recycling systems can be put into use.
The need is real. ____70____ Everyone should do their part to recycle paper and encourage government and industry to do the same. The world will be a better place for it!
A. The loss of trees matters to everybody on earth.
B. And worldwide use of paper will double in the next 40 years.
C. So far, trees are the only thing that can meet the great need for paper making.
D. The second great problem with paper is that the paper is no longer useful after it is used.
E. It is the pride (骄傲) of us Chinese, but it’s also a danger to the world in two ways.
F. Instead of cutting down trees, recycle used paper to meet the need of paper-making.
【答案】66. E 67. B 68. D 69. F 70. A

【67题详解】
根据前文“That is a great part of the world’s forests.”和后文“Clearly, the earth cannot survive in such a great forest loss.”可知,空白处应进一步说明森林损失的严重性,指出未来用纸量还会翻倍,使危机更加紧迫。选项B“And worldwide use of paper will double in the next 40 years.”衔接自然。
【68题详解】
根据文章第2段开头的“First”以及本段后文“A lot of waste paper ends up in rubbish…”可推知,此处应引出第二个问题。选项D“The second great problem with paper is that the paper is no longer useful after it is used.”与第一段提到的“two ways”及第二段结构呼应。
【69题详解】
根据文章第4段“One simple way to help out can greatly reduce both of these problems: paper recycling.”可推知,此处应具体说明回收的好处或做法。选项F“Instead of cutting down trees, recycle used paper to meet the need of paper-making.”具体阐述了回收如何解决问题。
【70题详解】
根据前文“The need is real.”和后文呼吁大家行动起来可知,空白处应强调森林损失与每个人的关系,从而引出人人有责。选项A“The loss of trees matters to everybody on earth.”符合语境。

On the evening of August 16, 2025, a student named Pang Zhongwang from Tsinghua University was presented (颁发) a “Touching China” Award.
Pang has become an example for millions of Chinese students through his unusual life journey. Coming from a poor farming family of a small village in Hebei Province, he faced many difficulties but never lost hope.
As the only child of his family, Pang began helping with housework at the age of 6. His parents worked hard to pay for his education while he lived with his grandparents. Every day after school, he did lots of housework and took care of his sick grandmother. Although he faced these difficulties, Pang always kept his schoolwork as the top task. He lived in a poor family, but his grades kept great both in primary and middle school.
The turning point came in 2017 when Pang scored 684 points in the college entrance exam. The great score made him enter Tsinghua University, China’s top university. His story spread online and encouraged the young in China. During interviews, Pang always expressed thanks to his parents and teachers instead of complaining (抱怨) about hard times.
This young man has given hope for countless students facing difficulties. His journey tells the world that with strong will and daily effort, even the hardest dreams can come true.

C. To make fun of modern people’s unhealthy habits. D. To show how AI connects history with today’s life.

A. Experiences of important ancient people. B. How AI technology works in creating videos.
