Last year, he visited Spain. There is lots of work for an archaeologist in Spain because it’s got many examples of how people lived in the past. Its history is very old! My dad went to the Altamira Caves. The caves are famous because archaeologists discovered the first cave paintings there in 1895. My dad says that in the past, people told stories using art. They didn’t write like we do. The paintings are over 14,000 years old. Many of the paintings on the cave walls show animals and people hunting. In one cave, a really big painting showed a bison (a type of animal). We think the paintings tell the story of how people hunted. There were no paints or paintbrushes then so the cave people used the things they found around them. They used sticks, leaves and animal hair for their brushes. They made paint with fruits, plants and blood! When I grow up I want to be an archaeologist like my father. He has a very interesting job and he sees amazing things! 59. 【62题详解】 根据诗歌第九、十行“‘Oh, please, Mr Camel, please help me, I don’t like water, as you can see!’” 【63题详解】 根据诗歌倒数第五、六行“So the camel told the mouse to jump Onto his back, and sit on his hump.” D There are many stories of brave athletes who refused to give up. Here are two of our favorites. Derek Redmond was a British runner with a strong chance of winning a medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic 400m semi-final. At about 150 meters, he felt a terrible pain in his leg and fell to the ground with a bad hurt. The other runners passed him, but after five seconds, Derek got up and started running on one leg. Officials tried to stop him, but he kept going. Then his father, Jim, came onto the track (跑道), put his arm around him and said, “You don’t have to do this.” Derek replied, “Yes, I do. I have to finish.” Together they walked the last 50 meters and crossed the line. Derek cried as 60,000 people cheered him on. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, an Austrian mountaineer, dreamed of climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter mountains. In 2010, she was close to the top of K2 when her climbing partner, Fredrik Ericsson, slipped and fell to his death. Sadly, she returned to base camp and thought she would never climb K2 again. However, her dream remained strong. In August 2011, she returned to Nepal and successfully reached the summit (顶峰) of K2, completing her lifelong goal. These stories show that the most important thing in sport is not just winning, but having the courage to keep going when things get difficult. 66. Who helped Derek Redmond finish the race? A. His coach. B. His father. C. The officials. D. His teammate. 67. Why did Gerlinde think she would never climb K2 again after 2010? A. She was too old to climb mountains again. B. She lost her climbing partner and was heartbroken. C. The mountain was too dangerous for her to climb. D. She had already achieved her goal and was famous. 68. What do the two stories have in common? A. Both tell about how athletes work hard to win first prizes. B. Both tell about athletes’ training life from an early age. C. Both tell about athletes who keep playing after getting hurt. D. Both tell about athletes who keep trying after facing failure. 69. Where is this text most probably taken from? A. A book about encouraging and educational stories. B. A textbook explaining rules in different sports events. C. A book about healthy eating and living a strong life. D. A book recording important events in world history. B 67. B 68. D 69. 【66题详解】 第二段中“Then his father, Jim, came onto the track... Together they walked the last 50 meters and crossed the line”表明,是德里克的父亲帮助他完成了比赛。 【67题详解】 第三段中“her climbing partner, Fredrik Ericsson, slipped and fell to his death. Sadly, she returned to base camp and thought she would never climb K2 again”可知,她认为不会再攀登是因为搭档遇难身亡,令她感到极度悲伤。 【69题详解】 文章开篇提到“stories of brave athletes who refused to give up”,结尾总结体育最重要的是“having the courage to keep going”,全文旨在传递励志和教育意义,因此最可能出自关于励志和教育故事的书籍。 E A long time ago, people were very different from the way we are now. For example, if you find a really old house somewhere, you’ll see that the doors are usually much lower than they are today. Why? Because hundreds of years ago, people were shorter. Over time, the human body changes to get used to a new way of life. Can we expect the human body to change in the future? For sure. And the main reason is that we have more and more technology, and it is changing how we live. What kind of changes can we expect? Well, no one can be 100% sure, but here are some possibilities. 1. Let’s start with the example above. Humans are now 10cm taller than 150 years ago. So, in the future, people will probably be even taller. Most of us now have much better food than people in the past, and so we grow more. 2. We’ll get weaker in more than one way. The most important way is that our muscles (肌肉) will not be as strong as now because we won’t do a lot of physical work. 3. We are already using our feet less, and our hands more (think about computers and tablets and so on). So we can expect that our legs will get shorter and our feet smaller, and at the same time, our fingers will get longer. And our fingers and our eyes will both get better, because they’ll have to do more work together. 4. Now, what about the mouth? It’ll get smaller, perhaps, because technological improvements will mean that we don’t need to talk so much—and also because our teeth will get smaller (so mouths don’t need to be so big to keep them in). 5. Here’s a good one—it’s very possible that people will have four toes (脚趾), not five. The little toe really isn’t needed any more (people who lose them don’t miss them), so it will probably disappear sometime in the future. 6. And last but not least—people won’t have as much hair on their bodies as now, as we don’t need it to keep ourselves warm anymore. Will all these things happen? And if so, when? These are questions that no one can answer for sure. 70. What will NOT happen to humans in the future according to the passage? A. People will be much taller. B. People’s muscles will be weaker. C. People’s mouths will get bigger. D. People’s fingers will get longer. 71. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A. People need to talk more in the future. B. People will have more hair on their bodies. C. People now are 10 cm shorter than 150 years ago. D. People will probably have four toes in the future. 72. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The history of old houses and doors. B. How to keep healthy in the future. C. How technology changes people’s life. D. Possible changes of human bodies in the future. C 71. D 72. 【70题详解】 根据第1点中“So, in the future, people will probably be even taller.”可知,未来人会更高;根据第2点中“our muscles (肌肉) will not be as strong as now”可知,人的肌肉会更弱;根据第3点中“our fingers will get longer”可知,人的手指会更长;而第4点中“It’ll get smaller”说明人的嘴会变小,不会变大。说明C选项内容不会发生 【71题详解】 根据第5点中“it’s very possible that people will have four toes (脚趾), not five”可知,未来人类可能会有四个脚趾。 Long long ago, there was a poor woodcutter. One day, he was working beside the river as usual. Suddenly, his old iron axe (铁斧) fell deep into the river from his hand. He could not swim at all, so he sat on the bank sadly and even cried. Just then, the god of the river appeared. After listening to the woodcutter’s story, the god jumped into the river at once. A moment later, he came out with a shining golden axe. But the woodcutter shook his head and said it was not his. The god went back again and showed him a silver axe. The woodcutter still said no. Finally, the god brought his old iron axe. The woodcutter smiled and said it was exactly his own. The god was greatly touched. He gave the woodcutter both the golden and silver axes as prizes. Later, the woodcutter’s friend heard his story. He quickly ran to the river and dropped his axe on purpose. When the god appeared, the man lied to the god, saying the golden axe was his. The god knew he was not honest. He disappeared right away, so the man lost his axe forever. 73. Why did the woodcutter feel sad and cry? (不超过15个词) ________________ 74. What did the woodcutter’s friend do after hearing the story? (不超过15个词) ________________ 75. What can we learn from the story? (不超过10个词) ________________ 【答案】73. Because his iron axe fell into the river and he couldn’t swim at all. 74. E A long time ago, people were very different from the way we are now. Long long ago, there was a poor woodcutter. One day, he was working beside the river as usual. Suddenly, his old iron axe (铁斧) fell deep into the river from his hand. He could not swim at all, so he sat on the bank sadly and even cried. Just then, the god of the river appeared.
