Many students want to show their love to their parents but don’t know how. Here’s a good way I’ve tried. First, send a message to them. In the message, we can say “thank you” for the little things they do for us. Even a few warm words can make them smile a lot. Second, cook a simple meal for them. It can be just eggs or noodles. Doing this will make them feel proud and relaxed. Finally, spend time with them. We can talk about our school days or watch TV with them at home. Being there with them shows we really care. Remember, try to find your own way to create a warm family. Showing love doesn’t need big acts—small, real things work best.

put...on the table是固定搭配,意为“把……
after“在…… 时”、while“当……

Marriage is celebrated around the world.
In many countries, it is customary for the bride (新娘) to wear a white dress. The tradition of wearing a special white dress for the wedding ceremony (结婚典礼) started around 150 years ago. 41 Now many brides have their dress specially made. In many countries, colors other than white are worn by the bride or used as part of the wedding ceremony. 42 In China, wedding invitations are usually red and gold.
As part of many traditional wedding ceremonies, a bride wears a veil (面纱). 43 They could only be taken away by the husband after the ceremony. Today, many brides still wear a veil, but only for decoration (装饰).
In many cultures, couples exchange rings during the wedding ceremony. The shape of the ring is a symbol of endless love. 44 The finger was chosen because it was once believed to be able to keep the wedding ring closer to the heart.
Flowers play an important role in most weddings. Roses are said to be the flowers of love, so they are usually used in wedding ceremonies. 45 It is said that the girl who catches the bouquet (花束) will be the next one to marry.
Today, couples can choose from many of the world's traditional customs to create their own special wedding ceremony.

41.根据“The tradition of wearing a special white dress for the wedding ceremony started around 150 years ago.”和“Now many brides have their dress specially made.”
42.根据“In many countries, colors other than white are worn by the bride or used as part of the wedding ceremony.”和“In China, wedding invitations are usually red and gold.”
43.根据“As part of many traditional wedding ceremonies, a bride wears a veil.”和“They could only be taken away by the husband after the ceremony.” 故选A。
44.根据“The shape of the ring is a symbol of endless love.”和“The finger was chosen because it was once believed to be able to keep the wedding ring closer to the heart.”
45.根据“Roses are said to be the flowers of love, so they are usually used in wedding ceremonies.”和“It is said that the girl who catches the bouquet will be the next one to marry.”

C
I work as a waiter in a cafe. I spend the morning hours with coffee and see friendly customers every day. But there are always those mornings when a few unwanted customers come in. They often ask for coffee without looking at me directly. Some customers are impolite and they think that customers are always right.
Just like me, Austin Simms of Cups Coffee and Tea has had enough of this. To help some customers with their manners, he has put a sign outside showing their new way of setting prices.
His new sign shows the cost of a coffee is $5. If a customer walks up to the waiter and simply says, “Small coffee,” he or she will need to pay $5 for that small coffee. The price of “small coffee, please” goes down to $3. In other words, a nice word “please” with a request for a small coffee will cut the price by $2. The coffee only costs $1.75 if the customer says, “Hello. One small coffee, please.” So you can see that customers who show the best manners get the largest discounts (折扣).
This new way has made some customers rethink their manners. We can be sure that at least some customers have become polite even though they do it just to get a discounted coffee. The more you do something, the more you will get used to it. This way can actually help some customers be polite.
53.What can we learn from Paragraph 1?
A.The writer always thinks he is right.
B.The writer is happy with his job in the cafe.
C.Some customers often make the writer unhappy.
D.Some customers want to learn to make coffee from the writer.
54.Which of the following decides the price of a coffee according to Austin’s way?
A.Customers’ hope for the waiter.
B.The size of the coffee customers ask for.
C.Customers’ ideas about the waiter’s work.
D.The ways that customers talk to the waiter.
55.What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph?
A.The writer supports Austin’s way.
B.Some customers are more polite than others.
C.It’s impossible for impolite customers to learn manners.
D.The new way is the best way to help customers be polite.
【答案】53.C 54.D 55.A
