Rules in Our Community
Our community is a nice place to live in. It is clean, quiet and full of warm-hearted people. But a comfortable living environment cannot come only by luck—it needs rules. Rules in our community help people get along well and keep our home safe and tidy.
First, we have rules about public cleanliness. Everyone must put rubbish into proper bins instead of throwing it anywhere. Some people enjoy walking dogs in the community, but they must always clean up after their pets. No one is allowed to paint on walls, break public chairs or pick flowers in the garden. These small acts seem unimportant, but they influence how our community looks and feels.
Second, there are rules about noise. We should keep our voice down, especially in the evening and early morning. Playing loud music, shouting or making big noise after 10:00 p.m. is not polite. Many people need to rest or get up early for work or study. If everyone makes noise freely, no one can live comfortably.
Third, traffic and parking rules are necessary to keep us safe. Drivers must drive slowly and carefully inside the community. They should not park cars in front of doors, on walkways or in emergency areas. Parents often tell children not to run or play on the main roads, because cars may appear suddenly. Safety always comes first.
Some people think community rules are too strict or unnecessary. They only see that rules limit their actions, but they do not understand that rules protect everyone. When everyone follows the rules, our community becomes more pleasant and peaceful. Rules are not troubles—they are the best way to make our shared home better.
1.What must dog owners do in the community?
A.Keep their dogs at home all day. B.Clean up after their dogs.

A.Because the police will come. B.Because many people need to rest.
C.Because it is a rule in every country. D.Because children are studying.
3.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Different kinds of communities. B.How to keep our community clean.
C.Rules are important for our community. D.How to get along with neighbors.

Long before films came out, Chinese people had their own “big screen (屏幕)” shows. It is called Chinese shadow puppetry (皮影戏). It has a history of over 2,000 years, even older than the Great Wall!
The puppets are often made from animal skin, like cow or donkey skin. First, artists cut and carve the skin carefully. Then they paint it with bright colours. Some puppets have movable joints (关节), so they can wave their arms, nod their heads, or even fight like heroes!
During a show, a bright light shines from behind a white screen. The puppeteers stand back there. They use thin sticks to move the puppets. At the same time, they often sing or speak the lines of the characters. From the other side of the screen, people can see shadows acting out interesting stories.
Shadow puppetry tells stories about history, legends (传说), and daily life. People often watch it at festivals, weddings, and other big events. It is not only fun but also a good way to learn about Chinese culture.
Want to see shadow puppetry with your own eyes? Dunhuang in Gansu and Xi’an in Shaanxi are both great places to enjoy traditional shows. Why not visit them and enjoy the colourful dance of shadows?

四、阅读表达
