Passage 1
(24-25七下·辽宁丹东东港·期末)
Guess what? Hainan got a great new road in December, 2024. This road helps people visit and enjoy the beautiful rainforest (热带雨林) while not hurting (伤害) it. 6% of the Earth’s surface (地球的表面) is the rainforests. They are very important for our earth and lives here.
First, rainforests, with their many trees, produce oxygen (产生氧气) for us. Because of these rainforests, we can have enough clean and fresh air.
Next, rainforests are home to lots of animals and plants. Scientists discover many special animals and plants in the rainforests. More surprises are waiting for us there.
And rainforests also have another amazing job—to keep our earth cool. They are like green umbrellas and stop us from getting too hot.
However, rainforests are in trouble now. People destroy (破坏) the rainforests to build farms and factories. This makes those animals and plants lose their homes. It also makes our earth warmer. In the end, it may cause climate (气候) change.
So, we need to help save rainforests. We can start by learning about them and telling others how important they are. We can also lend a helping hand to people living in rainforests to take good care of them. If everyone helps, we could keep them beautiful and healthy.

Passage 2
(24-25七下·辽宁沈阳铁西区·期末)
①Beavers (海狸) , known as “nature’s engineers”, play a surprising role in protecting the environment. Scientists found that beavers do good things for the world around us. According to a new study, beavers do helps stop flooding (洪水) and pollution and can increase populations of fish and other wildlife.
②Scientists from the University Exeter watched wild beavers living on the River Otter in Devon for five years. Beavers build dams (大坝) across rivers with sticks and mud (泥土). These dams create ponds. These ponds become homes for other animals. The ponds work like natural cleaners. When rain washes soil and chemicals from farms into rivers, the dams stop up to 70% of this dirty stuff (东西). The scientists found 37% more fish living in the ponds made by beavers than in other parts of the river. Cleaner water helps all living things stay healthy!
③During storms, the dams slow floodwater by 50%. This protects nearby villages and farms. The slowed water also spreads into new wetlands, creating homes for birds, frogs, and insects. Sometimes the dams cause small floods on farmland. But people can make small changes to the dams, like adding pipes. This way, both people and animals are happy.
④Beavers were hunted until they died out in England 500 years ago. Surprisingly, they appeared on the River Otter in 2008 again. At first, the government wanted to hunt them, but the green protectors showed how important they are. Today, these hardworking animals are telling us how nature's ways make our environment better!
⑤Beavers clean pollution and help fight floods. They teach us that protecting wild animals isn't only good for them—it helps people too. Their story reminds us to work with nature, not against it.

A.By using stones and wood. B.By using sticks and mud.
C.By digging holes in the ground. D.By planting trees near rivers.
6.What do we learn from Paragraph 4?
A.The government killed beavers.
B.Beavers disappeared but returned.
C.Humans and beavers can live together peacefully.
D.Beavers cause some trouble but help a lot.
7.What does the writer think of protecting beavers?
A.It is a waste of time and money.
B.It should be done only in certain areas.
C.It is unnecessary because they cause floods.
D.It is important because they help both nature and people.
8.How is the text organized?
A.By comparing beavers to other animals.
B.By telling a story from beginning to end.
C.By presenting a problem and then a solution.
D.By beginning with a simple introduction, then give details.

Passage 1
(24-25七下·辽宁沈阳皇姑区·期末)
Someone gives you one marshmallow (棉花糖). You can either eat it right away or wait for 15 to 20 minutes and get two. Would you wait?
This is the famous “marshmallow test” from the 1960s. It was used to see how much self-control (自控力) children have. Surprisingly, a recent study shows that cuttlefish (乌贼) can pass this test too.
What’s the study?
Scientists at the University of Cambridge did the study. They set up two boxes of food for the cuttlefish. One had grass shrimp (藻虾) and the other had shore crab (食草蟹). Cuttlefish like to eat grass shrimp more than shore crab. They could eat the shore crab right away, but needed to wait to eat their preferred meal (the grass shrimp).
It turned out that the cuttlefish would wait for 50 to 130 seconds for grass shrimp. This is quite clever, researcher Nicola Clayton said. “Self-control needs an understanding that ‘less is sometimes more’,” she said.
Why can they do this?
In the past, scientists did the “marshmallow test” on several large-brained animals, such as apes (猩猩) and parrots (鹦鹉). They could control themselves and wait too. As social animals, they already get benefit from this in the wild. For example, apes might wait to eat with others to make friends.
But cuttlefish are not social. Scientists guess that they have self-control because they often spend a long time hiding from predators (捕食者). They have to wait patiently for predators to leave before they can look for food themselves.
13.Which of the following food do Cuttlefish like best?
A.Large fish. B.Marshmallows. C.Shore crab. D.Grass shrimp.
14.What does Nicola Clayton think of cuttlefish?
A.They are smart. B.They are foolish. C.They are helpful. D.They are friendly.
15.What does the underlined word “benefit” probably mean?
A.food B.good C.method D.attention
16.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Marshmallow test B.Self-control children C.Waiting patiently D.Hiding from predators
【答案】13.D 14.A 15.B 16.C
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍的是最近的研究表明乌贼也能通过体现自控力的“棉花糖测试”,并分析了乌贼这么做的原因。
13.推理判断题。根据“Cuttlefish like to eat grass shrimp more than shore crab.”
根据“It turned out that the cuttlefish would wait for 50 to 130 seconds for grass shrimp. This is quite clever, researcher Nicola Clayton said.”可知,Nicola Clayton认为乌贼是聪明的。故选A。
15.词句猜测题。根据“As social animals, they already get benefit from this in the wild. For example, apes might wait to eat with others to make friends.”

Singing and music play an important part in our culture. You’ll find music in many parts of our lives: theatre, television, movies, holidays and celebrations. At home, music can become part of family cultures.
From birth, parents use music to comfort children and to show love and joy. So, how can music impact (影响) children?
The benefits of music
A study found that musical experiences in childhood can improve brain (大脑) development, especially in language learning and reading skills. According to the NAMM Foundation, learning to play an instrument can improve maths learning and even help students get higher SAT scores.
Also, music is good for all areas of child development and the skills they need to get ready for school. It helps the body and the mind work together. Music helps young children learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build sports skills.
What’s more, music brings us joy. Just think about listening to a good song in the car with the window down on a beautiful day—that’s joy.
Music games for school-age children and teens
Most young school-age children are interested in kids’ singalong songs with counting, spelling, or remembering. They also begin expressing their likes and dislikes for different kinds of music. They may express an interest in music learning, such as taking singing or instrument lessons.
Teens may use musical experiences to make friends and to be different from parents and younger kids. They often want to go out and listen to music after school with a group of friends. Teens often have a strong interest in taking music lessons or playing in a band.
There is no downside to bringing children and music together through fun games. We are able to enjoy the benefits of music from the moment we’re born. Passage 3
(24-25七下·辽宁沈阳和平区·期末)
The sun provides sunshine for plants, animals, and people on the Earth. Energy from the sun is called solar (太阳的) energy. It comes in the form of light or heat. Solar energy makes you feel warm. People have used solar energy for many years. Houses were built with windows so that sunlight can get inside and provide heat. The sun’s energy can also be used to heat water and even food.
We can also turn the sun’s light into electricity. This is done with solar panels (太阳能电池板). Solar panels are made up of silicon (硅). When the sunlight reaches the solar panel, the electrons (电子) in the silicon move and flow (流动) through wires in the solar panel. Using this technology, we can run even cars.
But what happens when clouds block the solar panels? The electrons in the silicon will stop moving. But this doesn’t mean that solar energy can only be used on bright sunny days. Solar panels can have batteries to store electricity for a rainy day. When the sun is shining, the electricity flows from the solar panel into the batteries. The stored electricity can be used at night or on cloudy days.
Solar energy is not as expensive as before now. The sun produces more energy in one second than people have used since the beginning of time. Just imagine what we could do if we used the sun’s energy to power our Earth.

Passage 1
(24-25七下·辽宁沈阳辽中区·期末)
The Qinghai-Xizang Railway connects Xining and Lhasa, the capital cities of Qinghai and Xizang. It ended Xizang’s no-railway history and set a new record for the world’s highest railway. The railway itself is a world wonder. Work began in 1958, and it took over 50 years to complete. Although it was a difficult task, Chinese engineers and workers did their best to overcome the challenges.
The biggest challenge was permafrost (永冻层)—a type of frozen ground that remains at or below 0℃ for at least two years. Most of the railway is built on it. The ground can break easily if it gets too warm. Though the engineers were not familiar (熟悉) with this problem, they invented ways to solve it. They built walls to block the sunlight. This could keep the ground colder and stronger. In some places, the railway is built above ground, like long bridges.
Another challenge was to protect the plants, rivers and animals along the line. The Qinghai-Xizang Railway passes through Kekexili and Qiangtang, places with many wild animals. The engineers built 25 special passages (通道) just for animals. Now the animals can cross the railway safely.
Also, the air in the high mountains is thin, and the oxygen (O2) level is low. Passengers may feel sick. Engineers designed trains that can give passengers more oxygen.
Although there were epic (史诗般的) challenges, Chinese engineers made history. Today, the Qinghai-Xizang Railway travels for 1,956 km across green rivers, along snowy mountains, by blue lakes, and through amazing deserts. It is an epic road.
48.How long did it take to complete the Qinghai-Xizang Railway?
A.About 40 years. B.Over 50 years. C.Less than 50 years. D.Exactly 50 years.

A.Stop. B.Improve. C.Produce. D.Connect.
50.Why did engineers build 25 special passages along the railway?
A.To help passengers see wild animals.
B.To protect the animals and let them cross the railway safely.
C.To make the railway more beautiful.
D.To allow workers to rest.
51.What can we learn from the text?
A.The railway is 1,596 km long.
B.There are no deserts along the Qinghai-Xizang Railway.

Have you ever noticed a monster around us? It’s not big or scary, but it’s very dangerous. This monster comes in many forms—games, social media and TV shows. You may ask, “It brings us so much fun. So why do you say it’s a monster?”
At first, we may all think, “I’ll just have a little fun.” We turn on the computer and start a game. But soon the monster takes over. It starts to eat away our time, minute by minute. But we just sit there and look at the screen without noticing it at all.
We often get lost in the monster’s world like this. We become couch potatoes with sore necks and dry eyes. We miss out on sweet moments with loved ones. We are deaf to the real world.
Just remember, too much fun also makes Jack a dull boy! The time-eating monster will always be there. But we can keep it away by having fun in a balanced way.
So, stand up and leave the screens! Go outside, feel the sun on your face, and jog in the fresh air. Play tennis or go hiking with your friends. Talk about your day with your family. There is so much for you to do. The choice is ours.

Let’s all start to work together right away!

5.How do beavers build dams?

The world is getting warmer, and the ice in high mountains is melting (融化). How to slow down the melt?Wearing “clothes”.
In the 1990s, people in Switzerland put white “blankets” on ski areas. The white colour can reflect (反射) the sunshine and keep the ice cool. The blankets are made of wool (羊毛), so rain can go through the blankets and become ice. It can slow down the melt by about 50 to 70 percent.Painting the rocks.
Farmers in the Andes Mountains in Peru use a similar idea. Above 5,000 metres, they paint the rocks with white “paint”. The paint is made of water, sand and soap (肥皂). The soap helps it stick to the rocks. The white rocks can be 16℃ cooler than the dark rocks. An organization called Glaciers Alive.
Scientists at an organization called Glaciers Alive turn to man-made snow for help in Switzerland. In winter, they use water from a small lake up in the mountain. The water goes down some pipes (管道). On the pipes, there are shower heads (喷头). The water flows out from the pipes and becomes snow on the mountain.

A good piece of Mozart may not improve our brain, but it’s enjoyable and beautiful. From the fun of listening to music, to learning a new language and social skills, music certainly enriches the lives of children.

44.What are the uses of solar energy?
①making people feel warm ②letting sunlight get inside
③building houses with windows ④heating water and even food
A.①③ B.①④ C.②③ D.②④
