Last Friday afternoon, my family and I were eating at a restaurant. Just as we finished, a homeless man came in. He was pushing a trolley full of his belongings (个人物品). He looked really hot from walking outside, and it was clear he was hungry and thirsty.
We got up to leave. As we did, he walked past us and sat at the table we’d just left, and started eating the chips we left. We noticed the staff nodded (点头) to each other to clear away the plates from the table.
When we were about to walk out, we heard someone say, “Excuse me.” It was the man who had sat at our table. He noticed I’d left my wallet behind and was walking towards us to give it back. I said thank you and my husband then ordered him a meal and a few drinks to express our thanks.
While we were on the drive home, I was explaining to my 6-year-old child what had happened and the importance of helping others, as well as being thankful to have a home to live in and food to eat.
Two days later, I looked for a card in my wallet and realized I had $50 cash in there all the time. How I wished I could have given it to the man! I was just too focused on trying to explain the importance of kindness to my child.
This world may be hard even at the best of times, but there are truly kind and honest people out there. I hope we can all try, whenever we can, to do something that makes someone’s day a little brighter.

28.Which of the following can best describe the homeless man?
A.Patient and careful. B.Kind and honest. C.Serious and helpful. D.Smart and friendly.
29.What lesson did the writer want to teach her child?
A.How to avoid dealing with homeless people.
B.The importance of kindness and helping others.
C.The importance of staying away from strangers.

“Doxxing” (known as “kaihe” in Chinese) is a harmful online practice where someone maliciously (恶意地) shares another person’s private information, such as his or her real name, address, phone number, or workplace, without permission (允许). This act often aims to trouble or threaten the victim (受害人). For example, in March 2025, a 13-year-old girl leaked a pregnant woman’s personal details online simply because the woman criticized a celebrity (名人). The victim received toxic (令人不愉快的) messages and had to delete her social media accounts.
Why is Doxxing Dangerous?
Doxxing can ruin lives. Victims may face online bullying, threats, or even real-life dangers like strangers showing up at their homes. It also causes emotional harm, such as anxiety or depression. In extreme cases, people lose jobs or feel forced to move away. Additionally, doxxing spreads fear, making people afraid to speak freely online.
How Does Doxxing Happen?
Attackers often use illegal (非法的) methods. Some buy stolen data from hackers (黑客) who break into company databases. Others use “social engineering”, tricking people into sharing details. For instance, pretending to be a friend or using fake surveys. Shockingly, even small clues like a username can help attackers piece together someone’s real identity across platforms.
How to Stay Safe
1. Guard Your Information: Avoid sharing sensitive details online. Use strong passwords and update them regularly.
2. Stay Alert: Don’t click suspicious links or download unknown files -they might contain spyware.
3. Respect Privacy: Never spread others’ information, even during arguments. Sharing private details without consent is both illegal and unethical.
4. Report Attacks: If targeted, save evidence (证据) (screenshots, links) and report it to the website or the police.
Final Thoughts
Doxxing is not a game—it violates privacy and laws. As one victim said, “Losing privacy feels like being stripped naked in public.” By protecting our data and respecting others, we can create a safer, kinder internet for everyone.
31.The term “Doxxing” refer to ______ according to the text.
A.a legal online sharing activity
B.sharing someone’s private information without permission
C.an act of helping people find lost information
D.a way to protect personal privacy on the Internet
32.The 13-year-old girl leak the pregnant woman’s details ______.
A.because the pregnant woman was a stranger to her
B.as a result of a business competition
C.to get attention from the online community
D.because of the woman’s criticism of a celebrity
33.Which of the following is NOT a possible danger caused by Doxxing?
A.It helps people make more friends online.
B.Victims may receive online bullying.
C.It may lead to strangers showing up at victims’ homes.
D.Victims might suffer from emotional problems like depression.
34.Attackers often get personal information through illegal methods. Which one is NOT mentioned in the text?
A.Buying stolen data from hackers. B.Using “social engineering” techniques.
C.Searching through official public records. D.Pretending to be someone’s friend to trick them.
35.What should people do to stay safe from Doxxing?
A.Share all personal details freely to show trust. B.Avoid clicking suspicious links.
C.Use simple and easy-to-remember passwords. D.Ignore any privacy settings on platforms.

Stonehenge—Can Anyone Explain Why It Is There?
Stonehenge, a rock circle, is not only one of Britain’s most famous historical places but also one of its greatest mysteries. Every year it receives more than 750,000 visitors. People like to go to this place especially in June as they want to see the sun rising on the longest day of the year.
For many years, historians believed Stonehenge was a temple where ancient leaders tried to communicate with the gods. However, historian Paul Stoker thinks this can't be true because Stonehenge was built so many centuries ago. “The leader s arrived in England much later,” he points out.
Another popular idea is that Stonehenge might be a kind of calendar. The large stones were put together in a certain way On midsummer’s morning, the sun shines directly into the center of the stones. Other people believe the stones have a medical purpose. They think the stones can prevent illness and keep people healthy. “As you walk there, you can feel the energy from your feet move up your body,” said one visitor. No one is sure what Stonehenge was used for, but most agree that the position of the stones must be for a special purpose. Some think it might be a burial place or a place to honor ancestors. Others think it was built to celebrate a victory over an enemy.
Stonehenge was built slowly over a long period of time. Most historians believe it must be almost 5,000 years old. One of the greatest mysteries is how it was built because the stones are so big and heavy. In 2001, a group of English volunteers tried to build another Stonehenge, but they couldn’t. “We don’t really know who built Stonehenge,” says Paul Stoker. “And perhaps we might never know, but we do know they must have been hard-working-and great planners!”

Traveling in Good Manners
Nowadays traveling is getting more and more popular. However, some bad behaviors can be seen during our trips. For example, some people throw rubbish everywhere, which makes the tourist attractions dirty and unpleasant. Besides, some people speak loudly in public places, disturbing other visitors.
In my opinion, these behaviors are really impolite. We should put rubbish into dustbins instead of throwing it everywhere. If we want to speak in public places, we should keep our voices down. What’s more, the government can put up signs to remind people of good manners and make rules to stop bad behaviors.
Let’s start with ourselves and be polite travelers. Only in this way can we enjoy our trips.

Question: What does the girl like doing?
Question: Who does the girl make snowmen with?
Text8:M: Morning, Amy. Would you like to go out with me this Sunday?
W: I’d love to. Where shall we go?
M: Let’s go to enjoy nature in the countryside.
W: Good idea. I’m tired of staying in the city all day.
M: We can enjoy fresh air, green trees and lovely wild flowers.
W: Perfect! When and where will we meet?
M: Let’s meet at the school gate at eight in the morning.
Text9:W: Excuse me, sir. May I ask you some questions about your work here?
M: Sure. I’m glad to share my experience.
W: Why do you plant so many trees?
M: Because sandstorms often hit this place. Trees can stop the sand.
W: Is the work difficult?
M: Yes, it’s hard, but we all feel happy to do it.
W: What do you hope for the future?
M: I hope our hometown will become greener and everyone can play a part in protecting the environment.
W: Thank you for telling me so much.
M: You’re welcome.
Text10:Good morning, everyone. I’m going to tell you about the school trip to the farm tomorrow. Please make sure you bring a drink, as it can get quite hot on the bus. There are lots of different animals on the farm. We’re all going to try brushing the horses just after we arrive there, at about 9 a.m. Shortly after this, we’ll learn what farmers give sheep to eat, and we’ll be able to give them their breakfast too. The farm has lots of activities students can take part in. We’re going to do some climbing after lunch, and maybe next time we can go fishing or play baseball. We’ll be setting off back to school at 3:30 p.m., and we’ll be back here at 4:15 p.m.
