A study finds that one tenth of homes already own a robot vacuum cleaner and one seventh of homes plan to buy one this year, meaning they are likely to be the most popular technology of 2025. Aviva’s new “How We Live” report shows that robot vacuum cleaners are the most popular among people aged 25 to 34. Almost one fifth of them already have one. And another one quarter of them plan to buy one in the next 12 months. Robot vacuum cleaners have become much better in recent years. Early models cleaned in fixed patterns (固定模式), so they often missed some spots. But the newest ones use lasers and cameras. They can map out the rooms and know where they are, so they clean more completely. Last year, people in Britain spent over £300 million on robot grass cutters. As new technology makes these robot grass cutters work better, the market is expected to grow more than double in the next five years. The report shows that British families love new technology, especially when it saves them even a little time or makes things easier and faster to finish. Wireless charging stations (无线充电站), for example, are the most popular new technology. New safety technologies are also more needed. The report notes that almost one third of homes have now fixed smart doorbells and smart safety cameras. These systems are linked to their owners’ phones, allowing them to see who is at their doors. Hannah Davidson, of Aviva, said, “Robotics and smart homes are changing the way we live, offering convenience and safety like never before.” 26. Which thing in the following pictures is a robot vacuum cleaner? A. B. C. D. 27. Why do the British families show a love of new technology? A. Because of its quietness. B. Because of its new pattern. C. Because of its clean energy. D. Because of its convenience. 28. Which writing method is mainly used in the passage? A. Using specific examples to explain ideas. B. Telling a story to introduce a topic. C. Only using numbers to show the popularity of new technology. D. Asking questions to attract readers. 29. What would the writer write about after the last paragraph? A. When robotics will take over. B. Why robotics develops rapidly. C. What robotics can finally achieve. D. How robotics changes our lifestyle. 30. What is the best title for the passage? A. Robot Vacuum Cleaners and Grass Cutters B. Popular New Technologies in British Homes C. How to Use Smart Home Products D. The History of Robotics Technology 【答案】26. A 27. D 28. A 29. D 30. 【27题详解】 由第四段“British families love new technology, especially when it saves them even a little time or makes things easier and faster to finish”可知,英国家庭喜爱新技术是因为它带来的便利性。 (10) Making Resolutions Resolutions are often thought to be one of the most important guides everyone needs. Do you know what a resolution is? ____31____ People make resolutions to improve their life. The most common kind is a New Year’s resolution. After all, the start of the year is often a perfect time for making resolutions. ____32____ Some are about physical health. For example, some people may promise to exercise more or eat more healthily. Some resolutions have to do with learning new things. People might decide they are going to take up a hobby, like painting or photography. And some resolutions have to do with self-improvement, like becoming more confident or organized. ____33____ Although there are differences, most resolutions have one thing in common: People hardly ever keep them! But there are good reasons for this. ____34____ And sometimes people just forget about them. To make your resolutions work, you need to plan them wisely. Make sure your resolution is possible to achieve. Don’t set a goal that is too difficult or too much for you. Try to set mini-goals to help you achieve your resolution. And if you don’t want to forget your resolutions, write them down. Also, talk about them with your family and friends. ____35____ So what resolutions are you going to make? How are you going to keep them? A. Resolutions can be about almost anything. B. Encourage them to remind you of your goals. C. A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself. D. This is why sticking to them can be a real challenge. E. Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep. F. For example, a student may decide to start a new study plan. G. New Year’s resolutions are popular around the world. C 32. A 33. F 34. E 35. C“A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself.” A“Resolutions can be about almost anything.” F“For example, a student may decide to start a new study plan.” E“Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep.” B“Encourage them to remind you of your goals.”与上文“talk about them with your family and friends”衔接自然,逻辑合理。 (15) The world’s oldest musical instruments are more than 40,000 years old. For thousands of years, humans have been making music for pleasure and to express themselves. Recently, there has been a rise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create music. AImakes music by analyzing (分析) many different songs, learning patterns and details, and then mixing pieces together in creative ways. Some AI music has become so popular that it has been shared widely online. However, some people think using AI to create music isn’t truly original (原创的) or creative because it makes songs out of old music. What do you think? Is AI bad for creativity? Yes—AI music isn’t creative. Using AI might be cheaper than paying a musician. If companies can use AI to produce popular music that makes lots of money from people buying and listening to it, it could put musicians out of work. If musicians can’t earn money from music, there will be far fewer of them creating new songs. Anyway, listening to music that was made by a computer isn’t the same experience as listening to human-made music. When musicians create songs, they put real feelings and experiences into their work, which builds a deep connection with listeners through their music. Music produced by AI isn’t truly original, as it simply takes pieces from songs that have already been published. Therefore, it cannot be considered creative. No—AI can help spark (激发) new ideas. When people turn on their radio or headphones and a great new song comes on, it makes them feel good. A catchy tune (曲调) brings people together to sing and dance. If people are enjoying music, who cares whether it was made by a human or a machine? Music makers already use computers, which help to perfect sound and mix different parts of a song. Like computers, AI can also help spark ideas. It won’t replace (取代) musicians but they can work with it. Building on music created by AI could save time. It could allow lots more music to be produced and it could lead to new and special styles of music. AI could create exciting tunes that humans could never have dreamed of. Is AI bad for new music? Background Humans have a long ____36____ of creating music for fun and self-expression. But now, a growing ____37____ of people use AI to create music. It has caused a hot ____38____among people about creativity. People who are for it AI music isn’t creative. ●AI costs ____39____ than hiring (雇佣) a musician, so it could take work from real musicians. ●AI music seldom shares real feelings and experiences, so it’s harder for it to ____40____ with listeners than human music does. ●AI music ____41____ takes pieces from old songs, which may stop it from being creative. People who are ____42____ it AI can help spark new ideas. Whether the music is created by humans or AI doesn’t ____43____ if people enjoy it. AI can be ____44____ as a helper to spark new ideas. AI pushes music ____45____ human limits (限制) and opens up new ideas. 【36题详解】 根据文章第一段第二句“For thousands of years, humans have been making music for pleasure and to express themselves.” 【37题详解】 根据文章第二段第一句“Recently, there has been a rise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create music.”可推知,越来越多的人使用AI,即a growing number of people。应填number。 【38题详解】 根据文章第三段第二、三句“What do you think? C It is not true that robots have taken over our lives so far, but they are doing more and more of our daily household chores. 29.
