第四部分写作(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(满分15分)
Two possible versions:
Should We Keep Eye Exercises?
Recently,I conducted a survey among students in our school on whether we should keep eye exercises. The
results are as follows.
30 percent of the students think eye exercises are effective and should be kept.However,20 percent believe
they are useless and can be canceled. The majority,50 percent, argue that their effects are limited and that five
minutes of outdoor activities would be a better choice.
In my opinion,we should still keep eye exercises. They are easy to do and help relax our eye muscles
during busy study.Although their effect is not very strong, they form a good habit of caring for our eyes.
Meanwhile, combining them with short outdoor activities will surely be more helpful in protecting our eyesight.
Should We Keep Eye Exercises?
Recently,I conducted a survey on whether eye exercises should be retained in our school. The results are as
follows.
According to the survey, opinions are divided.30%of the students believe eye exercises are effective and
need to be kept.20%think they are ineffective and can be cancelled. However, the majority,50%,hold a
neutral view, stating that eye exercises have limited effect and suggest spending 5 minutes outdoors instead.
From my perspective,I support the majority opinion. While eye exercises may help students relax briefly,
scientific evidence of their effectiveness remains insufficient.Given the increasing rate of nearsightedness among
teenagers, replacing indoor eye exercises with outdoor activities would be more beneficial.Natural light and
distant views can effectively relieve eye strain. Therefore, schools should consider this practical alternative to
better protect students'eyesight.

第二节(满分25分)
Then,a great idea struck him-the rope in the garage. He sprinted, fetched it,and quickly tied one end
around Leo's ankle, the other around his own waist for leverage."Brace your feet and push when I pull! Now!"
he shouted.Above,Leo pushed desperately against the bricks.Below,Milo planted his feet and hauled with all
his strength.For a heart-stopping moment,nothing budged.Then,with a gritty scrape,Leo came free and slid
down into the ash, coughing and sooty but safe.Milo, panting and red-faced with effort, untied the rope as they
stared at the sooty chaos around them.Just then, the sound of their Dad's car came from the driveway.
The front door opened.Mom and Dad returned, their arms full of shopping bags.Seeing the mess,Mom's
smile vanished."What happened here?"she asked.Looking at his feet,Leo confessed his silly plan and how
Milo had saved him.Their parents'looks changed from shock to worry, and then to quiet amusement."That
was very dangerous,Leo,"Dad said sternly. Then he put a hand on Milo's shoulder."But you were so brave
and clever. We're very proud."Mom hugged them both tightly. That Christmas Eve,as they cleaned up the
mess and drank hot chocolate together, the small adventure turned into a funny family story they would never
forget.

书的情节亮点,目的是推荐好书。

了合理的原因。

LITERARY EDITOR Sarah Shaffi SHARES HER NEW FAVOURITE READS
Whatever Happened to Madeline Stone by Louise O'Neill (Bantam,f16.99,out 9th
April).Teen acting twins Madeline and Chelsea are at the height of their fame when one of
them disappears.Chelsea steps away from the spotlight-until twenty-five years later, when
she realises Madeline could still be alive. This is O'Neill at her best, mixing a thrilling plot
with sharp commentary on fame, power, and men's bad behaviour.
【QJ高二英语第2页(共8页)】
The Ending Writes Itself by Evelyn Clarke (HQ,f16.99,out 7th April).A group of
writers are invited to crime author Arthur Fletch's Scottish island, only to find him dead.
Each guest must write an ending to his much-anticipated unfinished book-then they realise
they are being killed off one by one.I love the multiple perspectives, the island setting, and
the way the tension builds so brilliantly.
The Drowning Place by Sarah Hilary (Harvill,f16.99,out 16th April).Detectives
Joseph and Laurie are very different. He is the only survivor of a school bus crash and has
lived in Edenscar his whole life. She has just arrived in the quiet Peak District town with her
husband to care for his ill father. When a cruel crime takes place, the two must work together
and face horrible memories from the past.Vivid, moody, and unsettling-I could not put it
down.
No Such Thing as Monday by Sian Hughes (The Indigo Press,14.99,out 16th April).
Steffie's father spends his life terrorising his family. When he dies, she feels lost. The loss
brings back memories of her childhood and how badly her sister was treated. The cruel
realism reminds me of Douglas Stuart's Shuggie Bain.Despite being a short book,it packs in
the emotional power and says so much about grief and guilt.

C.Whatever Happened to Madeline Stone
D.No Such Thing as Monday
22.What is probably the theme of Shuggie Bain?

D.To invite readers to a book club
B
To my surprise,I find artificial intelligence quite helpful around our small farm.My AI
assistant,Claude, has helped me figure out the amount of gravel()for a new driveway
and train our young fruit trees. The only problem is that Claude makes me anxious.I was
raised to believe that anything worth having requires hard work.I fear AI will weaken my
mind and make me dependent on a machine.
Forty years ago, when I started hobby farming in Australia,my main guide was a 1981
Reader's Digest book called Back to Basics. Its 464 pages taught me traditional skills:raising
cattle, growing vegetables, even building with rammed earth.I still own many Reader's
Digest books.My oldest,a three-volume garden guide from 1963,is still useful,but with
Claude at hand,it now sits on the shelf covered in dust most of the time.
I also treasure a 1986 Reader's Digest driver's atlas().I used it until I finally gave
in and started using GPS.The atlas has a wonderful section on identifying car noises:loud
knocking,light tinkling,mysterious tapping,ominous screeching...
I never subscribed to the magazine myself. But my father-despite his excellent
education,or perhaps because of it-was extremely easy to fool. One day in the early 1980s,
he called me excitedly, saying he had won a f100,000 Reader's Digest prize draw.Later he
discovered it was a complete cheat.Yet he became one of their most devoted readers anyway.
Thank heaven he passed away before they declined.
I suppose that is the real point. The only constant in life is,as Heraclitus pointed out,
change.I may worry about using Claude,but Claude won't be around forever,like Reader's
Digest. In the meantime,it might as well suggest ways to increase honey production from our
beehives(蜂巢).

B.To recommend Reader's Digest to modern farmers.
C.To show that even reliable sources can become outdated.
D.To explain his reason for no longer trusting printed materials.
27.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.My Life with Claude

Once considered overshadowed by foreign productions,Chinese animation is now
experiencing increasing popularity, especially among younger audiences. With improved
storytelling, advanced visual effects, and a seamless (integration of traditional
Chinese culture, the industry is rapidly gaining recognition at home and abroad.
A recent survey among 7,232 university students revealed that 40.64 percent actively
follow popular domestic animation films and series, while 30.35 percent check for new
releases on a weekly basis. This growing interest is reflected in the success of major box office
hits, including Ne Zha 2,which took in over 15.2 billion yuan in box-office revenue (
and stormed into the global box office top 5,securing the Chinese original animation's place in
the global industry.
Most people owe this rise to the ability of Chinese animated works to combine traditional
cultural elements with modern cinematic techniques, which 81.1 percent of surveyed students
identified as a key factor in their interest.Nearly 45 percent believed that the technology used
in Chinese animation is on a par with international standards.
In recent years, driven by both technological advancements and a focus on Chinese
cultural storytelling, the quality of Chinese animation has improved significantly.According
to the survey,67.78 percent of university students shared this view.
"For instance, the movie Chang'an used artificial intelligence to recreate the texture of
Tang Dynasty architecture, providing a visual representation of poetic imagination.
Meanwhile,Ne Zha 2 reinterpreted a classic myth through the lens of modern family
dynamics, proving that technology should ultimately serve cultural expression,"says Chen
Yanyu,a student of Jiangxi University of Technology.
"I believe Chinese animation can carve out a space in the industry,Chen says. She notes
that while Japanese animation often focuses on youthful romance and American cartoons
emphasize individual heroism,China has a vast pool of untapped storytelling potential.
28.Which factor is listed for Chinese animation's success according to the text?

Spend some time on social media, and you will come across many short videos of dogs
"singing"along to their favourite tunes. But can a dog show any real musicality?
That's the question psychologist Aniruddh Patel and his colleagues attempted to answer
with an ear-catching new study, which shows that some dogs really are detecting pitch()
and adjusting their vocals(歌声)accordingly.
The researchers were inspired by wolves'howling behavior.Observations suggest each
wolf in a pack hits a different tone, creating an unharmonious chorus that scares away their
natural enemies."Wolf theorists had theorised that wolves actually knew what they were
doing and changing their pitch,"says Patel.
To test this experimentally in an easy and possible way,the team turned to house pets.
They asked dog owners to record their dogs'harmonies to preferred tracks-first in the
original key, then changed the key of the music three semitones above and below-to see how
they responded to pitch changes.
The team focused on two ancient breeds(),Samoyeds and Shiba Inus, which are
thought to be closer to their wolf ancestors. Each dog had to produce at least 30 howls per
version for statistical reliability.
All four Samoyeds showed sensitivity to pitch, adapting their vocalisations to the new
key, though never matching it exactly."They're trying to have some relationship to what
they're hearing;they're not just releasing some automatic,inflexible response,"says Patel.
The two Shiba Inus, however, appeared tone-deaf."There's possibly genetic variation within
ancient breeds,"Patel suggests.
The findings might offer insights into the origins of human music. Some theorists argue
singing evolved from the precise muscle control used in speech, which allowed humans to
reproduce complex sounds. But since dogs can adjust their pitch without learning other sounds
first, language probably wasn't needed for humans to develop music.

D.To select a right dog species for the study.
34.What did the experiment find out?
A.All the chosen dogs were sensitive to pitch.

Dr.Diego Ramonfaur,a 30-year-old medical resident in Ohio, often faces changing work
schedules. With shifts that change frequently, maintaining a regular sleep pattern is
impossible.36 Basically,it is a strategy of getting extra sleep before periods of sleep
deprivation(缺乏).
Sleep banking, also known as sleep extension, means following a healthy sleep schedule
to build willpower before facing insufficient sleep.According to Dr.Rebecca Robbins,a sleep
scientist at Harvard Medical School, this practice is recommended for people with demanding
jobs,such as doctors,soldiers,or professionals facing busy periods.37
However,Dr.Yo-El Ju,a sleep physician at WashU Medicine, notes that sleep banking
is somewhat misleading."You can't really bank sleep, but you can pay off the debt,"she
explains.38 You reduce your sleep debt in advance so you can stay awake longer later.
She suggests going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night, adding about 90 minutes of extra
sleep per week before a demanding period.
39 Studies show it helps with simple tasks like spotting a light quickly, but not with
complex executive()functions such as driving safely while handling multiple tasks.
Additionally, people with insomnia(should avoid this practice,as lying awake in bed
can cause more frustration.
Experts emphasize that sleep banking is only a temporary solution.40 For better
sleep habits, setting a bedtime alarm can help create a relaxing wind-down routine. At the end
of the day, healthy, consistent sleep remains the ultimate goal for everyone.
A.It's like using a credit card.
B.To cope,he has turned to sleep banking.
C.It doesn't seem to boost executive functioning.
D.It is a long-term solution for sleep deprivation.
E.While sleep banking has its health benefits,it has limitations.
F.The goal is to prepare the body and mind for upcoming challenges.
G.Once the busy period ends, returning to a normal sleep schedule is essential.
