Last term, our school held its first drama festival. All classes prepared a short play, and my classmates chose me to play the leading role. At first, I felt extremely worried because I had never performed on stage before. I was afraid I would forget my lines or move nervously in front of the audience.
My drama teacher encouraged me not to give up. She told me that even professional actors feel nervous, and that courage comes from practice. I recited lines whenever I was free, practiced in front of my family, and recorded myself to improve my expressions and gestures.
On the night of the show, I waited backstage with my hands shaking. When the curtain opened, I took a deep breath and stepped forward. Soon I forgot my nervousness and focused completely on the role. The audience laughed at the funny lines and applauded warmly.
After the show, many people praised my performance. That night made me realize that nothing is impossible if you keep trying. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance and gave me much more confidence.

A young woman one day said something that hurt her best friend of many years. She regretted it immediately and would like to do anything to take the words back. What she had said hurt her friend so much that she also felt very painful. To make up what she had done, she went to an old wise man in the village and asked for advice.
The old man understood the young woman’s suffering. He knew he must help her. He knew he could never remove her pain, but he could teach. And he also knew the result would depend only on her character.
“Tonight, take your best feather pillows and put a single feather(羽毛) on the doorstep of each house in the village before the sun rises,” he said.
The young woman hurried home to prepare for it, even though the feather pillows were very dear to her. All night long, she made her efforts alone in the cold. Finally it got light and she placed the last feather on the step of the last house. Just as the sun rose, she returned to the old man.
“Now,” said the man, “go back and refill your pillows with the feathers you have put on the steps. Then everything will be as it was before.”
“You know that’s impossible! The wind blew away each feather as fast as I placed them on the doorsteps!” The young woman was surprised.
“That’s true,” said the old man. “Each of your words is like a feather in the wind. Once your words are spoken, no matter how much effort you make and how sincere you are, you can never return them to your mouth. Choose your words well and protect people you love from being hurt.”

Do you like Chinese traditional painting and dance? They are two important parts of the traditional Chinese art. But what about when they meet each other?
This year, a dance drama titled Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》) was staged on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and became popular.
According to CCTV, this poetic dance program was inspired by the 900-year-old Chinese painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》). Created by Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng at about 18, the painting is amazing in its sweeping size, rich coloration and the expressive details, reported CCTV. It shows a Chinese blue-green landscape: “mountains and groupings of infinite (无限的) rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling (涟漪的) water”.
When the dancers moved elegantly, audiences seemed to be looking at the moving mountains and rivers. “It brings me a pure experience of beauty. It is not only a drama but also an exhibition. Vast mountains and rivers are coming to life!” Internet user Mo Weisha wrote in a review. “More than a thousand years later, green mountains and rivers still impress people as they did long ago.” Some people even decided to watch the dance again when it was staged in the theaters later. In fact, in recent years, more and more modern shows feature Chinese traditional culture and have received warm welcome. As for the reason, it is due to people’s great love for traditional culture.
“The younger generations have grown up with a more open mind. They accept Chinese culture and are proud of it.” Yao Wei, director of Henan TV Station’s Innovation Center, told China Daily.
32. What’s the writing purpose of Paragraph 1?

He feared criticism(批判、批评) and doubted his talent.
One day, the town announced an art competition, inviting artists of all ages to submit their work. The winner would have their artwork displayed in the town hall and receive a scholarship for art classes. The announcement ignited (点燃) Leo’s interest. This could be his chance to show his art to the world!
Despite Leo’s excitement, his fear returned. “What if I’m not good enough?” he thought. For days, he struggled with his doubts, but deep down, he knew he had to try. Encouraged by his mother, who always believed in his talent, he decided to enter the competition.
Leo spent every free moment working on his piece. He chose to paint the impressive sunset over the hills, the colors reflecting the beauty he admired in nature. As he painted, he poured his heart into the canvas (画布), feeling a sense of freedom and joy. However, as the deadline approached, his insecurities(不安全、无把握) returned. “What if people laugh at my work?” he thought carefully.
On the day of submission(呈递材料), Leo hesitated at the door of the gallery, holding his painting tightly. He took a deep breath and reminded himself of his mother’s words,“Art is about expressing yourself, not about pleasing others.” Gathering his courage, he stepped inside and handed over his painting.

A 18. B 19. C 20. A
W: As a child, I was given a boy’s name, Te-Ping Chen. My parents wanted to honor their grandfather, so they named me after him. Growing up in California. I learned to hate self-introduction, because so few people could ever pronounce my name. They’d say Tee-ping or Tuh-ping. My face would burn, and I’d feel uncomfortable. For years, my name has made me feel embarrassed. In Chinese, the name sounds gently pleasant. The Te means virtue. Ping means peace. But in English, the letters looked awkward and off-balance to me. But my parents were proud of the name, proud of what it stood for. They were Americans, but they hadn’t thrown away their tradition. Why would they choose that name instead of a Jessica or a Molly? I understand now. We name ourselves to honor our ancestor who brought us to America. It’s a name that has made me think hard about identity. In that way, it has helped make me who I am. I had a kid recently, and we also gave him a Chinese name. His name means joy. There’s strength in saying that, you’re here and we’re here. This is where we come from, and these are our names. So we should be proud of our names.
A篇
【解析】21.C 22.B 23.A
根据第三段“Cupcakes, pudding and other desserts are not included in the price.(纸杯蛋糕、布丁和其他甜点不包括在价格之内)”可知,甜点需要额外支付费用。
根据第四段“Our Jersey cows also need milking so you’ll be showed all about it and try hand milking.(我们的泽西奶牛也需要挤奶,所以你会看到挤奶的全过程,并尝试用手挤奶)”可知,孩子们在体验日可以学习给奶牛挤奶。
根据最后一段“Click here(http://www.farm 520.com) to simply fill out your details and select your desired day.(点击这里(http://www.farm 520.com)填写你的详细信息并选择你想要的日子)”可推知,这篇文章可能登在一个公园网站上。故选A。
B篇
A 25. B 2 6. B 27. A
根据第一段中“At first, I felt extremely worried because I had never performed on stage before. ( 起初,我感到非常焦虑,因为我之前从未在舞台上表演过。)”可知,作者最初担忧的直接原因是完全没有舞台表演经验。
【25题详解】词句猜测题。根据最后一段中“That night made me realize that nothing is impossible if you keep trying.( 那晚让我意识到,只要不断尝试,没有什么是不可能的。)”以及划线单词句中“This experience taught me the importance of perseverance and gave me much more confidence.( 这次经历教会了我perseverance的重要性,并给了我更多的信心。)” The ability to keep trying“不断尝试的能力”符合题意。
根据第二段“My drama teacher encouraged me not to give up. She told me that even professional actors feel nervous, and that courage comes from practice. I recited lines whenever I was free, practiced in front of my family, and recorded myself to improve my expressions and gestures.( 我的戏剧老师鼓励我不放弃。

36.G [根据上文“Other festivals are big international events.” 其中large numbers of与上文 local people形成对比。]
37.B [根据下文“In this case, the organizers must make sure that the event is scheduled during the right time of year for that type.” 符合语境,其中a certain type of plant与下文for that type呼应。]
38.E [根据上文“Some festivals are arranged to encourage flower growers to grow certain types of plants.”
39.C [根据上文“Some people use these events to win contracts with companies that buy large numbers of flowers.”和下文“And some growers have created new types of flowers.”

Finally, it was time for the winners to be announced. Leo’s heart raced. When the first-place winner was called, it wasn’t him. A wave of disappointment washed over him. But then, to his surprise, he heard his name for the second-place award. He couldn’t believe it! Applause erupted around him, and he felt a warmth in his chest. Leo realized that this experience was about more than just winning. It was about overcoming his fears and sharing his passion with others. The recognition he received from the community boosted his confidence, igniting a fire within him to continue pursuing his art.
In the following months, Leo began to attend more local art shows. He learned new techniques, met fellow artists, and grew more comfortable expressing himself. With each piece he created, he got rid of more of his self-doubt and embraced his creativity.
