London has many great places, like Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, and more. These are just some of its best spots.
Views from the London Eye
The London Eye is a must-visit for London tourists. Though some grumble(抱怨)about long queues, its scenic views of the city are unparalleled(不可比拟). From the glass capsule, you can feast your eyes on iconic spots: Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), the Houses of Parliament, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Beyond them, the winding Thames and a mix of historic buildings and modern skyscrapers form a stunning skyline you won’t forget.
Views from Waterloo Bridge
Waterloo Bridge is worth a visit. Though some say it’s one of London’s ugliest bridges, its views are wonderful. Londoners talk a lot about these views, and they’re right. On one side, you can see the Royal Festival Hall, Elizabeth Tower (often called Big Ben) and the Houses of Parliament. On the other side, you can see St. Paul’s Cathedral, Canary Wharf, the Gherkin (a strangely shaped tall building officially named 30 St. Mary Axe) and the Shard.
St. Paul’s Cathedral

You can visit its underground room to see tombs of great heroes, try the Whispering Gallery’s special sound trick, or climb to the Golden Gallery for views. Take paid tours Monday to Saturday; it’s free for people who come to pray on Sundays.
Victoria and Albert Museum
It’s great for history, art and design fans. We have Queen Victoria to thank for this wonderful place full of beautiful things—she laid its first stone in 1899. It has many art styles and types, from building design to painting. Wear comfortable shoes; it has 145 display rooms.

His parents were snowboarders, and he played on slopes from age 4. At first, his snowboard was bigger than him, and it took five years for him to grow into it.
When Beijing got the 2022 Winter Games, he decided to do snowboarding full-time. Winning Olympic gold wasn’t easy because Su worked hard for years. After that, he became much more famous. He says he tries to be a good example for young people, telling them to work hard for their dreams. Later, he took a year and a half off to rest his mind and body. He spent time with family, enjoyed nature, and did things like fishing and surfing.

At a time when many people around the world are in lockdown and can't go to the gym, home exercise has been popular. Worries about leading an inactive life and gaining weight are making many find novel ways to move their bodies and stretch their muscles. You don’t need to lift heavy weights or have expensive equipment like rowing machines and cycling machines to keep fit.
Exercise is important not only for your body but also for your mind. A study by Dr. Andrea Dunn from the Cooper Research Institute in Dallas, Texas showed that patients who walked for 35 minutes every day had a 47% decrease in their depression. Aerobic exercise(有氧运动),often called cardio for short, is meant to keep your heart rate high. This makes your heart stronger and improves your overall health. Many of us are now doing activities like skipping with an old rope, or watching exercise videos made by "fitness experts" online.
Walking is another great aerobic activity that helps improve blood circulation. There are many cheap step counters that can be worn like a watch. They can track your steps, heart rate, sleep habits and even blood oxygen levels. You don’t even need to go out—many people just walk fast or jog around their gardens or up and down their hallways. Doing yoga or Tai Chi can help keep our bodies flexible. This reduces joint ache and helps prevent us from getting hurt. Finally, we can do strength training at home by lifting rice bags or boxes instead of heavy weights in the gym.
There are many ways to keep us active. In fact, these online exercise habits can continue in our lives long after the lockdown ends. For those who complain(抱怨)that busy lives stop them from going to the gym, ten minutes of daily exercise—like skipping or lifting rice bags—helps both physical and mental health.
28. Why do many people find new ways to do exercise according to the first paragraph?
A. They want to try out new and expensive exercise equipment at home.
B. They are worried about little physical lifestyle and weight gain because of lockdown.
C. They can't afford to go to the gym and buy heavy exercise tools.
D. They think home exercise is more interesting than gym exercise.
29. Why is Dr. Andrea Dunn's study mentioned in the passage?
A. To show the exact time people need to walk every day.
B. To provide evidence that exercise benefits mental health.
C. To explain how aerobic exercise strengthens the heart.
D. To introduce popular exercise activities like rope skipping.
30. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Home exercise is only useful during lockdown.
B. People must walk outside to improve blood circulation.
C. Short daily home exercise benefits mental health.
D. Expensive equipment is necessary for keeping fit.
31.What is the main idea for this passage?
A. How to choose gym equipment wisely.
B. The history of aerobic exercise.
C. Why people dislike going to the gym.
D. Different home exercise ways and their benefits.
D
For a long time, scientists believed that true language belonged only to humans. But this idea is now being challenged by new discoveries. When a researcher saw a cuttlefish making specific signs with its arms in response to another cuttlefish on video, it suggested that these animals might be using a special kind of sign language to communicate. This finding is just one of many that are changing our understanding of the animal kingdom.
The biggest factor in this new age of discovery is Artificial Intelligence (Al). Al allows scientists to analyze huge amounts of data from animal sounds and actions. By processing these numerous data, Al can find complex patterns that the human ear or eye would easily miss. This has given researchers a powerful new tool to decode(破译)the hidden meanings in animal communication, raising the exciting possibility that we might one day “talk” with animals.
Remarkable discoveries are already being made. For example, one research team studying bottlenose dolphins found they do more than just make random(任意的)noises. Each dolphin has a unique "signature whistle," which acts like a name. They also use other specific calls. One whistle, for example, is used when they are curious about something new, almost as if they are asking, “What was that?” Another seems to be clear warning signal. This suggests a level of communication far more complex than we thought before.
While it is a huge challenge to fully understand these animal languages, the effort is worthwhile. Analyzing the code of animal communication could completely change how we see the world and other species. Perhaps we could learn what it is like to communicate with echoes(回声)like a dolphin, or with colors like a cuttlefish. More importantly, understanding the intelligence and rich social lives of animals will certainly increase our respect for them and our connection to the natural world.
32. What is challenging the traditional view on language?
A. Deeper study of human speech. B. New evidence of animal communication.
C. The rapid development of Al tools. D. The old opinion in animal abilities.
33. How does Al contribute to decoding animal messages?
A. It talks with the animals directly. B. It generates massive animal datasets.
C. It uncovers some hidden modes. D.It reproduces animal calls and sounds.
34. What does the study on dolphins suggest?
A. They are smarter than other species. B. Their vocal patterns are almost random.
C. Their sounds carry specific meanings. D. They can use human communication.
35. What is author’s attitude towards analyzing animal languages?
A. Doubtful B. Supportive C. Unconcerned D. Disapproving
Turning the Page: Steps to Create a New Chapter in Your Life
Life has ups and downs, but moving on is what matters. I once had low confidence and didn’t love myself, but I got better. You can too. 36 .
Draw A Line Mentally
Mentally draw a line to separate your past problems from future choices. See past hard times as lessons, not unnecessary hurdles. Use this “line” to build courage: leave guilt and shame behind, and keep trying. Never giving up is key. Messing up or crying is okay—these things only help you grow, not break you.
37
Don’t face problems alone. This is a common mistake. Ask family, close friends, or people who had similar struggles for help. They understand your pain and can guide you better. Learn from their successful ways: choose those who actually solved their issues, not just planned solutions. Hope and motivation from others can help when you lack them.
Try Everything In Your Hands
Don’t stop trying until you’ve done all you can. Many people use generic solutions like pills or useless books—these won’t help. 38 . Try new ideas you never imagined. Giving up is easy, but keeping going, even when it’s painful, is worth it. I once almost gave up, but I’m glad I didn’t.
Let Go Of Your Past
Let go of the past, guilt, and anger. Negative feelings only kill your energy. 39 . You did your best back then. Look forward to your new chapter, and talk to yourself gently—mistakes make us human.
Do What Really Works
40 . Don’t harm yourself with alcohol or smoking to deal with stress—they slowly hurt you. Live in reality, make smart choices, and take small steps toward your goals. Nothing should stand in your way.
A. Learn from others.
B. Do things that truly help.
C. Instead, think differently.
D. Refuse any support from others.
E. Let your past failures limit your future.
F. Here are simple steps to start a new life chapter.
G. Forgive those who hurt you, and most importantly, forgive yourself.

My classmate, Zoe, had always been quick to complain about small things. She’d grumble about her lunch being “not tasty enough” and throw it away, sigh about her school bag being“out of style”even though it was only three months old, and roll her eyes when the teacher gave extra notebooks—saying she “already had too many.”I’d tried telling her to be more grateful, but she’d just laugh and say, “Why bother? I’ll get new stuff(东西)anyway.” I knew she needed to see that not everyone had the same luck, so I thought of a plan.
My aunt ran a small shelter(庇护所)for kids whose families couldn’t afford a stable(稳定的)home. Every month, we collected donations like snacks, stationery, and warm clothes for them. I asked my aunt if I could bring Zoe along, and she said yes. When I told Zoe, she hesitated at first—Won’t it be boring?”—but finally agreed after I promised we’d get ice cream later.
On Saturday morning, we took a bus to the shelter. It was a comfortable little house, but the shelves for donations were almost empty. A few kids were sitting at the table, coloring with crayons(蜡笔)that had most of their paper peeled off(剥落). A little boy named Leo, around seven, looked up when we walked in. He was wearing a sweater that was too small, his sleeves only reaching his elbows.
Our job was to sort the new stationery we’d brought. Zoe picked up a pack of colorful pens and frowned—“These are the cheap ones I used to hate.” But then Leo came over, eyes wide, and asked, “Can I have a pen like that? I’ve never had one with sparkles.”Zoe froze for a second, then handed him the pack with a small smile. Later, she watched a little girl carefully split her only cookie with her younger sister, and I saw her put her own unopened snack into the donation box.
On the way home, Zoe didn’t chat like usual. When we got to our neighborhood, she turned to me and said, “Next week, can we bring more things? I have lots of old clothes and notebooks I don’t use anymore.”

Dear Tom,
I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling tired and unable to focus on your studies lately. I totally understand your situation—high school work is really heavy, and it's easy to ignore exercise. But doing sports regularly can solve these problems, so I'd like to share some advice with you.
First, make use of spare time. You can do simple exercises like jogging for 15 minutes after school, which won't take much time but can relax your body and refresh your mind. Second, you’d better try group sports you like, such as basketball or badminton. Playing with friends not only makes exercise fun but also helps you relieve stress. Besides, why not keep a balanced diet and go to bed early? It is really helpful to maintain your physical fitness, as proper rest and nutrition work together with exercise to boost your energy.
I do hope you can take my suggestions into consideration. I'm sure you'll feel more energetic and focused soon.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
The following week, Zoe showed up at my door early, carrying two big bags.“I cleaned out my closet last night,”she said, opening one bag to show neatly folded clothes—most still had tags on them. The other bag was filled with notebooks, storybooks, and even a few stuffed animals.“My mom helped me wash the toys,” she added, “so they’re all clean for the kids.”On the bus, she kept talking about what Leo might like, saying she hoped the sparkly pens hadn’t run out yet. I could tell she’d put more thought into this than she’d ever put into her own things.
When we walked into the shelter, Leo and the little girl from last week ran over right away. Leo held up a drawing he’d made—there was a boy with sparkly pens, labeled“Zoe.” Zoe laughed and handed him a new pack of markers, then gave the little girl a soft teddy bear. Later, she sat on the floor with the kids, helping them color and reading them storybooks. When it was time to leave, the kids hugged her tightly. On the way back, Zoe said,“This is way better than complaining about my lunch. It feels good to give.”I smiled, knowing she’d finally learned the joy of gratitude and sharing.
Text 1
M: I thought I asked you to always keep water in the fridge. (1)
W: I’m sorry, but there wasn’t enough room. We bought too much milk.
Text 2
M: Look at all the ice cream here. They have chocolate, nut and fruit. I’m going to have chocolate.
W: That’s my favorite as well, (2) but today I’ll try something different.
M: The nut looks very good.
Text 3
W: I’ve had these jeans since I was 18 years old — they still fit!
M: That’s impressive. But I think fixing its holes would be a good idea.
W: No worries. I’ll have my mother fix them today! (3)
Text 4
M: I left my camera in the studio last night, and now it’s gone. I think it’s been stolen.
W: It’s not been stolen. I took it home for safe keeping. It’s in my bag. (4)
Text 5
W: What time do you call this? I’ve been waiting for you for two hours. (5)
M: I’m sorry. Don’t be angry. I couldn’t get away — but I’ve got you a present.
W: Never mind that. I could have done some work.
Text 6
M: Oh, how long do I have to wait, Mom?
W: Not long now. Try to relax.
M: But the doctor told us to come at 9 a.m., and we were exactly on time. Why won’t he see me? (6)
W: He will. We’ve only been here for ten minutes. (6)
M: I am so cold. It’s not normal. (7)
W: Your temperature is high. You have a fever. The doctor will give you some medicine for it.
M: I’ve never felt so bad.
W: Poor boy. But try not to worry. The doctor will make you feel better.
Text 7
M: I was lonely while you were away. Beijing can be a lonely place.
W: Oddly enough, I was lonely as well. Everyone thinks London is such a friendly place, but that is only if you know people. (8)
M: Did you go anywhere else?
W: I had intended to visit Paris but I didn’t have time.
M: Did you have any problems? (9)
W: Yes, paying for things. (9) I couldn’t use my phone like I do here. I didn’t have a card too. I had to use cash, which I’m not used to. (9)
M: Oh well, welcome back.
Text 8
M: Do you know that a day on Mars is 40 minutes longer than a day on Earth?
W: So, if people go to live there, they will have to work longer every day.
M: Ha-ha, very funny.
W: Why is everyone talking about Mars these days? It has been the main topic in every class I’ve had today. (10)
M: Same for me. (10) It’s because everybody is so excited about China’s Tianwen-1 mission to Mars.
W: It is impressive — but why are people interested in such an empty planet? (11)
M: Because it’s quite close, in space terms. It reminds people of home — with its seasons and similar rocks. They are also interested in finding life there. (11) If people can learn how to use what they find on Mars to grow food and build things, and if there is water below the surface, people might be able to settle there.
W: Rather them than me. It doesn’t look like a place where I’d like to live. (12)
M: There’s a really good video online about the mission. Do you want to watch it on my phone?
W: Yes, OK.
Text 9
W: Want to help me?
M: What are you doing? (13)
W: Going through my English notes. (13) (14) I have my exam tomorrow morning so I want to make sure I can remember everything. (14)
M: OK. My exams aren’t until next week.
W: I also have history and geography on Thursday this week. Dad says he’ll drive me to school on exam days, so I can read it in the car. (15) I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the school bus. It’s always noisy.
M: Pass me your book and I’ll ask you some questions.
W: Here. It’s the final three pages I’m not certain about. I’ll turn on the light so you can see it better.
M: What does this say? Why do you write so small? Are you trying to save paper or something?
W: I can read it OK. You ought to get your eyes tested.
M: Wait a minute. I’ll put on my glasses to see it better. (16)
Text 10
The UK has had lots of rain recently, which will worry Glastonbury Festival ticket holders, with just one week to go. (20) The music festival returns this year after a twelve-month break. (17) With famous stars that include Liam Gallagher, Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue, to name a few, there’s plenty of entertainment, no matter what the weather. But, the 135,000 people traveling to Worthy Farm have been offered some hope from weather forecasters. (18) There are signs that high pressure may return, bringing settled and warm weather with temperatures near normal. However, those attending should be prepared for a mixed bag. For the opening day, there could be showers and a light wind. Day two, Thursday, should be drier, (19) with light clouds and a slight wind. It will continue until Saturday, when there might be some light rain. For the final day of the largest outdoor festival in the world, (20) the rain is predicted to have gone, making way for light clouds and a slight wind.
A篇
【解析】C选项 “圣保罗大教堂”:根据原文该景点的描述围绕“历史”展开——“has stood in London for 300 years”(有300年历史)、“surviving the Blitz... symbol of London’s strength”(二战轰炸中幸存,象征伦敦的坚韧)、“tombs of great heroes”(英雄陵墓),历史元素极其突出,完全契合历史爱好者的兴趣点。
【解析】根据原文 “It has many art styles and types, from building design to painting.”
【解析】根据 “London has many great places, like Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the London Eye and more. These are just some of its best spots.”
【解析】:题目考查 “18岁前的成就”,对应第一段关键信息 “In 2022, 17-year-old Chinese snowboarder Su Yiming won gold in the men’s big air final at the Beijing Winter Olympics—just before he became an adult. He also took silver in slope style”。选项 A“won gold in men’s big air and silver in slopestyle” 与原文表述完全一致,精准概括了他18岁前(17岁时)获得的奥运奖牌成就。
【解析】:题目考查 “成功的主要原因”,需整合原文关键信息:第二段 “Su’s love for snowboarding started early”(从小热爱滑雪)、第三段“decided to do snowboarding full-time”(全职投入滑雪)及“Winning Olympic gold wasn’t easy because Su worked hard for years”(多年努力)。选项 D “His love for snowboarding and years of hard work”(对滑雪的热爱和多年的努力)精准概括了原文中支撑他成功的核心因素。
D“Su Yiming: A Cool man from Child Actor to Olympic Champion”(苏翊鸣:从童星到奥运冠军)完整覆盖了全文核心经历,是对文本主旨的全面概括。
【解析】根据第一段“At a time when many people around the world are in lockdown and can't go to the gym... Worries about leading an inactive life and gaining weight are making many find novel ways to move their bodies”。 “little physical lifestyle”是对“an inactive life”的同义转述“weight gain”是原文“gaining weight”的同义替换,“because of lockdown”对应原文背景,完全匹配“封锁→担忧久坐与增重→寻找新锻炼方式”的逻辑,故B为正确答案。
【解析】根据最后一段“In fact, these online exercise habits can continue in our lives long after the lockdown ends.”“ten minutes of daily exercise... helps both physical and mental health” 可推断C正确。
【解析】原文首段明确传统观点为“true language belonged only to humans”(真正的语言仅属于人类),而挑战该观点的关键信息是“this idea is now being challenged by new discoveries”(这一观点正被新发现挑战)。
【解析】 原文第二段聚焦AI的作用,关键句为“AI can find complex patterns that the human ear or eye would easily miss”(AI能发现人类感官易忽略的复杂模式)。“uncovers some hidden modes”(揭示隐藏模式)与原文中“find complex patterns”含义完全一致,对应选项C。
34.C细节理解
【解析】原文第三段详细阐述研究发现:海豚有独特“signature whistle”(签名哨声);特定叫声对应具体场景(如好奇时的疑问、警示信号)。这些发现证明“海豚的声音带有特定含义”,与选项C完全对应。
35.B观点态度
【解析】原文第四段是态度表达的核心段落。开篇明确“the effort is worthwhile”(这项努力是值得的),直接体现正面认可;后续阐述分析的积极意义,如“change how we see the world”(改变对世界的认知)、“increase our respect for animals and connection to nature”(增强对动物的尊重与自然的联系),进一步强化支持立场。“Supportive”(支持的)与作者的正面表述完全一致,对应选项B。“Doubtful(怀疑的)”“Unconcerned(不关心的)”“Disapproving(反对的)”

G“Forgive those who hurt you, and most importantly, forgive yourself.”(原谅伤害你的人,更重要的是,原谅自己)直接呼应 “放下愧疚”,且 “原谅自己” 与后文 “当时已尽力、温柔对待自己” 形成紧密衔接。
B“Do things that truly help.”(做真正有帮助的事)精准概括了“拒绝有害方式、选择有效做法” 的段落主旨,与标题“Do What Really Works”(做真正有效的事)语义高度一致。

57. activities

I totally understand your situation—high school work is really heavy, and it's easy to ignore exercise(用破折号引出解释,并列句替代两个简单句,更流畅)。
You do these exercises. They won't take much time. They can relax you.
This won't take much time but can relax your body and refresh your mind(用代词“this”指代前文运动,“but”连接转折关系,合并句意,简洁有力)。
基础词汇:busy→升级词汇:heavy(形容学业“繁重”,更贴切)
基础词汇:keep healthy→升级词汇:keep you healthy(补充宾语“you”,指代更明确;也可进一步升级为“maintain your physical fitness”,更书面化)
3. 词汇激活行为类:①整理:clean out/tidy up②递给:hand/give③拥抱:hug/embrace情绪类:①开心的:happy/joyful②期待的:expectant/hopeful③认真的:thoughtful/careful
