Today, many kinds of animals are endangered. These animals may face extinction. It means when all the animals of that kind die forever. Recent years, reasons for extinction are mainly about human activities.
One big problem is habitat (栖息地) loss. People are cutting down forests and filling swamps (沼泽) to create more living areas, but animals are left hungry and have nowhere to go. For example, the bird in the picture is called Spoon-billed Sandpiper (勺嘴鹬). It has a beak in the shape of a spoon. This special shape is a great tool to scoop (舀) up small animals in the swamp. But it causes big trouble when there are fewer swamps and the bird has to feed on other animals.
Another main reason is overhunting. Some people shoot animals as a sport. This can make animals disappear fast. This is now a worldwide problem, and governments of all countries need to work together to make strict rules and take action from now on.
There is still hope for endangered animals. Some countries are working hard to build new habitats for them. Breeding (繁育) projects also help their numbers grow. All of us need to be careful and think twice. Human activities can make a difference to the whole nature, not just ourselves.
23.Why do people cut down forests and fill swamps?
A.Because animals are hungry.
B.Because people have nowhere to go.
C.Because animals don’t have habitats.
D.Because people want more living areas.
24.What can we do to protect animals according to the passage?
A.Build more buildings in animal habitats.
B.Hunt animals for governments.
C.Think about animals before we do activities.
D.Cut down more trees for our living areas.
25.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Overhunting is the only cause of animal endangerment.
B.Governments don’t need to make rules about hunting.
C.Breeding projects can help endangered animals’ numbers grow.
D.Endangered animals can never live on the Earth.
26.What is the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
D
In the Western tradition, people often connect horses with heroes or rulers. For a long time, the image (形象) of a ruler riding a strong horse was a symbol of power to rule. A good example is the painting Napoleon Crossing the Alps (《跨越阿尔卑斯山圣伯纳隘道的拿破仑》), where people see Napoleon as a great hero on a wild horse.
In China, horses were also important in war, but Chinese artists painted them in a different way. They did not just show the ruler’s power—they focused on (关注) the horse’s character.
This difference is clear in the Tang Dynasty. In Stone Reliefs of the Six Steeds, a ruler is carefully pulling an arrow (箭) from its injured horse. It shows deep care between humans and animals.
Later, Chinese painters from the Song Dynasty usually painted horses in these moments: eating, bathing or sleeping. They hoped to encourage people to be calm and kind.
The image of the horse in Chinese art kept developing. In the 20th century, Xu Beihong painted running horses that were full of strength. His horses became a symbol of Chinese strong will and hope of a better future.
Throughout history of the whole world, the horse has turned into a mirror of human spirits.
27.Why is the painting Napoleon Crossing the Alps mentioned (提及) in paragraph 1?
A.To show how difficult it was to climb the Alps.
B.To show Napoleon was good at riding a wild horse.
C.To show in Western paintings, riding a horse shows one’s power.
D.To show why Western paintings are different from Chinese ones.
28.Which of the following is the closest in meaning to the underlined “character” in paragraph 2?
A.Shape. B.Spirit. C.Look. D.Colour.
29.Which picture below is most likely a horse painting from the Song Dynasty?
A. B. C. D.
30.Which is the main idea of the passage?
A.For both the West and China, horse images were important in war.
B.The Tang and Song Dynasties were Chinese best time for horse painting.
C.Ancient Chinese artists were good at painting horses.
D.Horse images in the West and China show different cultures.

Improve Your Eating Habits
Healthy eating is important for a healthy body and mind. Both what we eat and how we eat are important!
For example, some people have fast food every week. It is easy and delicious! That makes us fat and unhealthy. Eating fast food like pizza and hamburgers too often may cause heart problems later. If you cook your own meals instead, you can make healthy balanced meals.
But some people don’t have breakfast. Maybe they don’t feel hungry in the morning, or they are too busy to eat anything. But food gives us energy. It is easy to feel sleepy and find it hard to work or study well if we don’t eat breakfast. Ice cream, candies, and cakes are delicious, but they usually have lots of sugar. When you want a treat, why don’t you have some fruit instead? After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Remember: you are what you eat. Healthy eating means eating healthy food and having good eating habits.
A.This is really bad for our teeth.
B.You also need to drink more water.
C.Eating three meals a day is important.
D.However, it often has lots of fat and sugar.
E.Some people also eat too many sweet things.

①On the last day of the Milan Winter Olympics, Gu Ailing defended her title (卫冕) in the women’s freestyle skiing halfpipe (自由式滑雪U型场地技巧). Days before, she also won two silver medals in slopestyle and big air At just 22, Gu has become the female freestyle skier with the most Olympic medals in history. “I’m so proud of myself. It still feels unreal to me,” Gu said.

However, through months of hard work, she made her comeback. In her own words, “2025 is the year of rebirth (重生). I learned to explore myself and also learned to believe in myself.”
④For Gu, the medals are only part of her story. “I don’t want to be anyone’ s idol (偶像). Instead, I want to be everyone’ s friend,” she said. She hopes her story can encourage more people, especially young girls, to experience the joy of winter sports.

根据第①段“Gu Ailing defended her title in the women’s freestyle skiing halfpipe. Days before, she also won two silver medals in slopestyle and big air.”
20.根据第②段“Gu had not trained in halfpipe for two months before the games. She thought joining all three games was ‘a big gamble’, because she might lose everything.”
21.根据第③段“She thought 2025 was the most challenging year. She not only got hurt several times, but also faced serious online hate. However, through months of hard work, she made her comeback.”

A. B. C. D.
【答案】23.D 24.C 25.C 26.B

根据原文“For a long time, the image of a ruler riding a strong horse was a symbol of power to rule. A good example is the painting Napoleon Crossing the Alps…”
29.根据原文“Chinese painters from the Song Dynasty usually painted horses in these moments: eating, bathing or sleeping”可知,宋代画家常描绘马进食、洗澡或睡觉的日常场景,C项图片符合。

31.________
32.________
33.________
34.________

根据第二段提到“some people have fast food every week. It is easy and delicious!”前文说快餐方便美味,后文说“That makes us fat and unhealthy.”说明其危害,D选项“However, it often has lots of fat and sugar.”
32.根据第三段后文提到“But some people don't have breakfast.”用But转折说明有些人不吃早餐,前文应与吃三餐相关,C选项“Eating three meals a day is important.”
33.根据第三段后文提到“ Ice cream, candies, and cakes are delicious, but they usually have lots of sugar.”冰淇淋、糖果和蛋糕很好吃,但通常含有大量糖分,E选项“Some people also eat too many sweet things.”
34.根据第三段前文提到“Ice cream, candies, and cakes are delicious, but they usually have lots of sugar.”介绍甜食含糖多,后文应继续说明甜食的危害,A选项“This is really bad for our teeth.”
Yes, I do. I often eat vegetables and fruit.“是的,我经常吃蔬菜和水果。”

as“作为”、for“为了”、to“到”均不能与worried搭配表示担心的对象。
根据后文“When they climbed out of the chimney”可推知,两只猫先掉进了烟囱,再爬出来,fell into“掉进,落入”符合语境。rushed into“冲进”、climbed up“爬上”、ran from“从……
根据后文“Only you are your own mirror.” somebody“某人”、anybody“任何人”、everybody“每个人”均与后文“Only you are your own mirror.”
根据后文“I mustn’t be as common as others”可知,爱因斯坦认为自己是特别的、独一无二的,不能随波逐流,special“特别的,独特的”符合语境。

A. B. C. D.
