由The Cotswolds, England部分The orange, red and gold leaves add to the scenery and not surprisingly, the Cotswolds is most famous for its long-distance hiking paths.
You may get the opportunity to meet lots of creatures. The salmon make their run upriver in the fall as well.
Bridger later told his family that the child with them had pointed to two dogs while they were in the garden, describing one as the “nice dog” and the other as the “mean one”.
25.【答案】A
【解析】由第三段的so Bridger stood between the dog and his sister to stop it reaching her. Instead of running off, the dog leaped up and grabbed hold of Bridger’s cheek. The six-year-old told his sister to run before managing to break free and leading her to a different part of the garden where he hoped they would be safe. 故选A。
Hey Bridger, Captain America here. So I read your story. Now I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of this over the last couple of days but let me be the next one to tell you—pal, you’re a hero.
根据第一段中“And fireworks, as you can guess from their name, cause fires — more than you might think.(烟花,正如你从它的名字可以猜到的那样,会引起火灾——比你想象的要多)”和第二段中“That’s what caused a handful of California towns to quit fireworks and turn to drones last year. Sydney, Australia, known for its massive fireworks display, is considering doing the same due to the risk of wildfires.(这就是去年加州一些城镇放弃烟花转向无人机的原因。
根据第三段内容,尤其是“In addition to reducing the risk of fires, drone light shows present a safer alternative for the folks behind the curtain. Fireworks injured more than 10,000 people last year because they can accidentally erupt while on the ground. Drones won’t.
根据画线词上文“Fireworks, on the other hand, can burst your eardrum if you’re standing close enough.(另一方面,如果你站得足够近,烟花可能会震破你的耳膜)”以及后文“for some families with animals, small children, or other people who are sensitive to noise(对于一些有动物、小孩或对噪音敏感的人来说)”可知,烟花的噪音对于一些人来说是令人烦恼的。
根据最后一段“Nevertheless, it’s still too early to rush to the conclusion that drones will completely take the place of fireworks in the near future.”(然而,现在就急于得出无人机将在不久的将来完全取代烟花的结论还为时过早)”可知,作者认为现在还不能得出无人机将完全取代烟花的结论,由此推知,接下来作者可能会继续谈论无人机面临的挑战。故选C项。
D
【解析】根据第一段的“In an increasingly urbanizing world, we are getting more and more busy. Thus, things we do to relax, like reading a book, or going out with friends are becoming more rare.”
【解析】由第三段的“I get this terrible feeling immediately after that I could have used that time to do something productive like taking textbook notes or finishing an assignment.”
【解析】由倒数第二段的“That’s what the popular concept of a work-life balance tells us, which claims that we should have a balance between spending time at jobs/studying and the time spent with family, friends, and pursuing hobbies and interests. According to this model, you should be doing things that you enjoy to keep the balance.”
35.【答案】A
故选A。
They may provide important insight into how they are feeling that you were never aware of. They
will be more likely to talk the issue out with you when they see that you are actively making an effort to listen to them.
由空前的“we got stuck at a busy crossing.”
42. A。 meet up with表“偶遇”,look down on表“看不起”,make up for表“弥补”,take hold of表“握紧”。故选A项。
由空后的“wagged his tail looking at him.” 由“he put the bread on the road for the dog to eat.”
45. A。 故选A项。
46. B。 由空前的“The dog smelled the bread and walked away.” pick out表“挑选”,pick up表“捡起”,put away表“把……
50. A。 故选A项。
51. C。 由空前的“this poor little boy who had only one piece of bread shared it with the dog”可知,贫穷的男孩,只有一块面包,还是把它分享给了小狗,尽管男孩看起来很饿。故选C项。
52. A。 故选A项。
53. A。 故选A项。

59.【答案】who

故填who。
61.【答案】to prove
故填to prove。
62.【答案】at
故填at。
64.【答案】and
故填and。
65.【答案】is issued
School Art Festival
In order to enrich our school life and broaden the students’ horizons, our school held the annual School Art Festival last Sunday. And once again it was amazing fun. Students from each class, together with teachers, took an active part in it.
As scheduled, the festival started with a singing competition, attracting dozens of students who had a talent for music. Ten contestants stood out and won the prizes in the end. Then followed the school art show, in which many works from both the students and teachers were on exhibition, ranging from calligraphy to paintings. The highlight of the art festival was the gala, with various kinds of performances feasting our eyes.
The art festival proved to be a huge success. It provided a platform for us students to showcase our talents and passions, whether it be through music, dance, drama, or visual arts.
第二节
That night, Tom kept thinking about the events of the day. The images of the collapsing model and the difficult quiz questions flashed through his mind. He realized that his arrogance had blinded him to the valuable ideas and knowledge of his group members. He remembered how dismissively he had treated them at first and how their suggestions had ultimately saved the project. He also thought about the quiz and how his so-called inferior classmates had known answers that he didn't. For the first time, he questioned his own superiority. Was he really as great as he had believed? Or had he been overestimating himself all along? These thoughts haunted him until the early hours of the morning.
From that day on, Tom changed his attitude. He became more open-minded and willing to listen to others. In class, he started to actively participate in group discussions and respected the opinions of every classmate. When working on projects, he no longer tried to impose his ideas but encouraged everyone to contribute. His relationships with his classmates improved significantly as they noticed his transformation. He also found that by learning from others, he was able to expand his knowledge and skills even further. This new understanding made him a more well-rounded and likable person, and he was grateful for the lesson he had learned from that field trip.

Text 10
Dear diary,
It’s the 10th day of my bicycle journey from Beijing to Mongolia. Tomorrow will be one of the hardest days. To be honest, it’s not cycling 10 hours per day, nor the burning July sun that challenges me. (17) The real challenge is the loneliness of cycling for days. (18) The local people in the cities are so friendly, but I’ve only just been able to make friends with people who can speak English. Tomorrow morning I’ll have to say goodbye to the lovely family that housed me. I stayed here for an extra two days after this family helped me order food at a restaurant and invited me to stay at their home. (19) I’ll miss them a lot as I continue riding north through the desert. I write this now, not just to motivate myself to continue, but to remind myself that each new friend I make on this trip could provide materials for my new book. (20) I feel so thankful for the friends I’ve made and so inspired by the experience of traveling.

Bridger Walker, from Wyoming, was bitten several times on the face and head by a fierce dog after it rushed at the siblings (兄弟姐妹) while they played in a garden on 9 July.
The siblings had been at a friend’s house when the attack happened, their aunt Nicole Walker said in an Instagram post. Bridger later told his family that the child with them had pointed to two dogs while they were in the garden, describing one as the “nice dog” and the other as the “mean one”.
The “mean one” then rushed at them, so Bridger stood between the dog and his sister to stop it reaching her. Instead of running off, the dog jumped up and grabbed hold of Bridger’s cheek (脸颊). The six-year-old told his sister to run before managing to break free and leading her to a different part of the garden where he hoped they would be safe.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he received 90 stitches (缝针) to his face during a nearly two-hour surgery. Bridger was told by a doctor that he was the bravest patient they ever had, his family said in an Instagram post. “The only time he cried was when he got the IV (静脉注射),” the family said. Bridger was described by his family as an “absolute joy” and “full of love”.
The six-year-old’s heroic actions have caught the attention of a number of film stars, and he even received a video message from Chris Evans, his idol. Evans told the young boy in a video: “Hey Bridger, Captain America here. So I read your story. Drone (无人机) light shows are becoming especially popular in the West. By now, if you live on the U. S. East or West Coasts, you’ve probably been troubled by wildfire smoke. The fires are increasing in frequency and intensity as climate change worsens. And fireworks, as you can guess from their name, cause fires — more than you might think.
That’s what caused a handful of California towns to quit fireworks and turn to drones last year. Sydney, Australia, known for its massive fireworks display, is considering doing the same due to the risk of wildfires. And fire danger is now top of mind for many U. S. cities as the Independence Day, or the American national day, nears.
In addition to reducing the risk of fires, drone light shows present a safer alternative for the folks behind the curtain. Fireworks injured more than 10,000 people last year because they can accidentally erupt while on the ground. Drones won’t. And since light shows are required to keep the ground below the show clear, there’s no risk of a drone falling from the sky into the crowd.
Drones are also less disturbing, creating only a light buzzing noise. Fireworks, on the other hand, can burst your eardrum if you’re standing close enough. That’s a nuisance for some families with animals, small children, or other people who are sensitive to noise.
But perhaps the biggest reason for the switch to drones is that they’re thought to be greener. Besides starting fires, firework smoke leaves behind a trail of harmful chemicals and is considered a pollutant. Drones are also a reusable option, capable of flying potentially hundreds of shows before they even require maintenance. That’s a huge benefit to the environment — and to the companies paying to put on these performances.
At the end of the day, though, some cities are likely switching to drones simply because they’re cooler. That’s not to say that fireworks aren’t cool. But drones allow for more creativity, with the ability to synchronize (同步) lights to music and recreate complex images in the sky.
Nevertheless, it’s still too early to rush to the conclusion that drones will completely take the place of fireworks in the near future.
28. Why are fireworks given up in some towns?
A. They are too expensive. B. They are not cool any more.
C. They speed up climate change. D. They bring along fire risks.
29. How does the author develop paragraph 3?
A. By giving a definition. B. By analyzing causes and effects.
C. By making a comparison. D. By referring to data from previous studies.
30 What does the underlined word “nuisance” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Reward. B. Annoyance. C. Example. D. Attraction.
31. What will the author probably continue to talk about?
A. The importance of drones in promoting economy.
B. The similarities shared by drones and fireworks.
C. The potential challenges drones will face.
D. The strong competition from companies in different industries.

We’ve all heard “use your time wisely” at least once in our lives. But what does that mean? How can we use our time “wisely”? In an increasingly urbanizing world, we are getting more and more busy. Thus, things we do to relax, like reading a book, or going out with friends are becoming more rare.
There have been numerous studies that indicate how relaxation and going out with friends can better your mental and physical health. Being able to take part in an enjoyable hobby or spend time with someone you enjoy being around can help release “feel good” hormones (激素) that can relieve some stress in your daily life.
But of course, sometimes when I find myself enjoying a book, playing a video game, or surfing the Internet, I get this terrible feeling immediately after that I could have used that time to do something productive like taking textbook notes or finishing an assignment.
However, even if it isn’t evident, doing those little things prevents us from burning out too fast. It creates little positive memories in your mind that will hopefully get you through a tough time. You need to “waste time” in order to be productive later on. That’s what the popular concept of a work-life balance tells us, which claims that we should have a balance between spending time at jobs/studying and the time spent with family, friends, and pursuing hobbies and interests. According to this model, you should be doing things that you enjoy to keep the balance.
We can use our time “wisely” by doing things that help us finish our degree or getting accepted into that one job, but we can also use our time “wisely” by taking some time to do what we love. There is no such thing as “wasting time” when it benefits you in the long run. The “work-life balance” that everyone talks about is important in this regard and we should all learn how to maintain that healthily.
32. How does paragraph 1 introduce the topic of the text?
A. By giving some useful suggestions. B. By describing some phenomena.
C. By putting forward an assumption. D. By answering several questions.
33. Why does the author feel terrible after relaxation?
A. Balance between tasks and rests is broken. B. Guilt arises from doing less worthwhile things.
C. Not enough time is spent on leisure activities. D. Relaxation will be replaced by busyness soon.
34. Which of the following is the benefit of “wasting time”?
A. Keeping us in high spirits all the time. B. Improving our efficiency and memory.
C. Keeping the balance between work and life. D. Enabling us to handle troubles in a wise way.
35. What is a suitable title for the text?
A. On “wasting time” B. On “work-life balance”
C. On “relaxation” D. On “using time wisely”
One of the best experiences while in college is living with a roommate. However, it is difficult and it’s unavoidable that conflicts will arise. 36 There are plenty of ways to handle conflict so that it does not ruin your relationship with your roommate.
Communication is Key
Communicating with your roommate is the most important thing when it comes to solving a conflict. 37 Communicating with them directly is much better received than if you were to send them a text about the issue.
38
Being passive-aggressive doesn’t get anybody anywhere when it comes to roommate conflicts. In fact, it usually just makes people even angrier at the situation. So, before you decide to leave that sticky note on the bathroom mirror about closing the shower curtain after using it, think twice. If you have something you want to say to your roommate, say it in person. Confront them rather than leaving notes around the house.
Listen to Your Roommate
While communication is key, so is listening. 39 When your roommates confront you or respond to your confrontation, listen attentively to them. They may provide important insight into how they are feeling that you were never aware of. They will be more likely to talk the issue out with you when they see that you are actively making an effort to listen to them.
Be Ready to Compromise
You most likely will not get your way when it comes to solving an issue with a roommate. So, to avoid getting upset, always be prepared to compromise. Keep an open mind about how to solve the issue. It may not always be exactly how you want it to be solved. 40
A. Think twice before expressing anger..
B. Don’t be passive-aggressive.
C. Actually, they go hand in hand.
D. However, it is how you communicate that makes all the difference.
E. But listening shows more respect for speakers than communication.
F. Even if you are best friends, you should be prepared to solve conflicts.
G. But if compromise is made to make both of you happier, that is a success.

Tom was a highly talented and intelligent student. He always excelled in academics and was praised by teachers and peers (同龄人) alike. His achievements made him look down upon those who he thought were not as smart as him.
One day, his class was going on a field trip to a local science museum. The museum had arranged a special event where students could participate in a series of challenging science experiments and competitions. Tom was confident that he would win everyone.
When they arrived at the museum, the students were divided into groups. Tom’s group consisted of some of his classmates whom he didn’t have a high opinion of. The first experiment was about building a complex model of a solar system using various materials provided. Tom immediately took charge, ignoring the suggestions and ideas of his group members. He thought his way was the only correct one.
However, as they proceeded, they encountered several difficulties. The model kept collapsing, and Tom couldn’t figure out what was wrong. His group members, who he had dismissed earlier, started offering their own solutions. At first, Tom was unwilling to listen, but as the situation became more desperate, he finally decided to give their ideas a chance.
To his surprise, by considering their suggestions, the model started to take shape and was finally completed successfully. But Tom didn’t fully realize the importance of his group members’ contributions. He still believed that he was the main reason for the success.
The next competition was a quiz about various scientific facts. Tom was sure he would win it. But during the quiz, he found that there were many questions he couldn’t answer. Some of his group members, on the other hand, knew the answers to those questions. They worked together as a team and managed to score a decent result.
After the field trip, Tom went home feeling a bit confused. He had expected to control the entire event but things hadn’t turned out that way.
