She could not run really fast and she was not good at jumping. But why would Alice love PE class? The reason was that Mr Green, her ____12____, always told her to do her best. Even if she only ran for a few ____13____, Mr Green said, “Good job. Next time, you will be able to go a little longer.” Mr Green even put a small box on the gym floor so Alice could practise ____14____ over it. That night when Alice finished dinner, she began practising jumping over boxes. She could jump over three boxes! It was Tuesday and time for the weekly relay race in PE class. Alice was ____15____ that she would not be able to go very far. Suddenly, she heard many cheers and kids yelling, “Go Alice! You can do it!” That was all she needed to hear. Alice ran as fast as she could, and ____17____ for the finishing line. She made it! Alice felt so good and proud of herself. “Thank you, Mr Green,” said Alice. “Alice, you ran the race, not me.” “Yes, but you always said I could ____18____ it.” After that day, Alice tried her best at everything. “have a hard time”是固定搭配,意为“过得艰难”,应用“hard”。 I’m Bruce. It’s also harmful to you when he smokes around you. Maybe your dad says this because he can’t stop. You can ask your mum to help you. C 20. B 21. I listen to loud music a lot. Can this make me deaf? My mum thinks so.”(我是布鲁斯。 I have an argument with my close friend Lucy. I want to make up, but I don’t know what to say.“(我是玛丽。我和我的好友露西发生了争执。我想和好,但不知道该说什么。)可知,Marie是询问和好朋友和好的建议,B选项“别担心。写封信告诉她你感到抱歉,并且你想和她交流,这是一个很好的方式。我认为她能理解你的意思。”与之匹配。 【21题详解】 根据“I’m Sara. My dad smokes. He doesn’t think it’s harmful. This isn’t true, is it?(我是萨拉。我爸爸抽烟。他认为这没什么危害。但这不是真的吧?)可知,Sara是询问爸爸抽烟的危害,D选项“吸烟对你的爸爸非常有害。而且当你爸爸在你身边吸烟时,对你来说也是有害的。也许你的爸爸这么说是因为他无法戒掉这个习惯。你可以让你的妈妈帮你。”与之匹配。 (二)阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选择最佳选项。 When a terrible earthquake hit, many people were killed and many houses fell down. One Sunday, when I was reading some stories about some of the families who were in trouble after the earthquake, I thought that this would be a good chance to teach my children to help those who were less lucky than them. I said to my seven-year-old twins, Brad and Brett, and three-year-old Meghan, “We have so much, and these poor people now have nothing. We’ll share what we have with them.” I filled a box with food and clothes. While I was doing this, I encouraged the boys to choose their toys and donate some of their less favourite things. Meghan watched quietly as the boys took out their old toys and games and put them together. Then she walked away. A few minutes later she came back with Lucy, her much-loved doll. She put the doll on top of the other toys. “Oh, dear,” I said. “You don’t have to give Lucy. You love her so much.” Meghan said, “Lucy makes me happy, Mummy. Maybe she’ll make another little girl happy, too.” I looked at Meghan for a long moment. She taught me a lesson. It’s easy to give something that we don’t want any more, but harder to give what we cherish, isn’t it? 22. Lucy is the name of ________ in the passage. A. a girl B. a game C. a doll D. an earthquake 23. Which of the following is TRUE? A. A terrible earthquake happened in the writer’s city on Sunday. B. The mother didn’t let Meghan give her much-loved doll in the end. C. The mother decided to buy some clothes for those people in trouble. D. The writer thinks it is more difficult to give what we love a lot. 24. Which is the best title for this passage? A. A Family Story B. The Spirit of Giving C. Ways of Helping Others D. A Sad Experience 【答案】22. C 23. D 24. B 【解析】 【导语】本文讲述了地震灾害发生后,作者带领三个孩子向受灾民众捐赠物品,小女儿Meghan主动拿出自己最珍爱的洋娃娃捐赠的故事。这让作者领悟到赠予自己不再需要的东西容易,赠予自己珍视的东西才更难能可贵。 【22题详解】 根据第二段“she came back with Lucy, her much-loved doll”可知,Lucy是一个娃娃的名字。 【23题详解】 根据最后一段“It’s easy to give something that we don’t want any more, but harder to give what we cherish, isn’t it?”可知,作者认为捐赠珍爱的东西更难,选项D表述正确。 【24题详解】 短文通过母亲教育孩子帮助地震灾民的故事,特别是三岁女儿Meghan捐赠心爱娃娃的行为,强调了真正的给予精神在于分享珍视之物。因此The Spirit of Giving是最合适的标题。 When did you visit a famous place last time? Do you often go shopping with your friends or parents on weekends? You will easily find that women usually wait in a long, slow-moving line for a toilet (卫生间). However, not far away, men quickly go in and out of their own toilets. This is the same for most women around the world for a long time. It’s no secret that a trip to the toilet means more time for women than men, and there are many reasons for it. In fact, there are many differences between men and women, so women usually stay longer in toilets than men. According to the World Toilet Organisation, although men’s public toilets are almost as big as women’s, women spend an average of 89 seconds on the toilet, about 2.3 times longer than 39 seconds spent by men. On Sina Weibo, many people ask for women’s rights and they say there should be “more toilets for women than men”. Then more than 260 million people pay attention to the idea. And to our surprise, it gets full support from both men and women. Now comes good news for women in China, as the government recently said that they would do something to help women’s rights. That is, they will build more toilets for women than for men in the next few years. “We really need toilets far more than men do. And we do have reasons. Mothers take their young children to the toilets. And sometimes we need a space to check our clothes and faces in the mirror,” an Internet user said online. “It is true that the toilet problem is not a small thing. Caring about the details of women can help the world become better and better,” said Red Star News. 25. Women need more toilets than men because ________. A. more women go shopping than men B. women spend more time on the toilet C. women don’t like to wait for the toilet D. there are more women than men in China 26. What can we learn from the passage? A. Men also ask for more toilets in places of interest. B. Women’s toilets are usually much bigger than men’s. C. Sina Weibo users can decide almost everything. D. Both men and women support more toilets for women. 27. What’s the passage mainly about? A. It’s mainly about women’s toilet problem. B. It’s mainly about women’s rights to use toilets. C. It’s mainly about fun facts about toilets. D. It’s mainly about the need of more space in toilets. 【答案】25. B 26. D 27. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要围绕女性如厕排队时间长的现象,分析其原因(女性如厕耗时更长等),介绍了公众呼吁、政府计划增加女厕数量的进展,强调关注女性如厕细节对社会的意义。 【25题详解】 第二段“It’s no secret that a trip to the toilet means more time for women than men…”,第三段“women spend an average of 89 seconds on the toilet, about 2.3 times longer than 39 seconds spent by men.”,原文明确指出女性如厕耗时远长于男性,这是女性需要更多厕所的核心原因。 【26题详解】 第三段最后一句“And to our surprise, it gets full support from both men and women.”,原文直接说明“男女都支持增加女性厕所”,与选项D表述完全一致。A(文中未提及男性主动呼吁)、B(第 3 段明确“男女公厕几乎一样大”)、C(微博用户仅提出诉求,无法决定一切)均与原文不符。 【27题详解】 全文(首尾段及核心段落),第一段“women usually wait in a long, slow-moving line for a toilet…men quickly go in and out”,第四段“the government recently said that they would do something to help women’s rights. That is, they will build more toilets for women than for men”,第五段“the toilet problem is not a small thing. Caring about the details of women can help the world become better”,全文围绕“女性如厕排队时间长、厕所不足”这一核心问题展开,从现象、原因、公众呼吁到政府措施进行说明,因此主旨是“女性如厕问题”。B(“如厕权” 范围过窄,文章核心是“厕所数量/排队”问题,而非权利本身)、C(并非单纯趣味事实,聚焦现实问题)、D(“更多空间”只是原因之一,不是全文主旨)均不准确。 Learning to Study Smarter Knowing you could be wrong can lead you to learn more accurate (精确的) knowledge. But does it also help you beyond that? To find out more, Porter at BallState asked 103 high-school students to answer some questions (控制行为): skills that students can use to master their material. Students who could see that their beliefs might be wrong were much more likely to use skills to test their knowledge while they were studying. They’d check to see if they really understood the material and found out holes (洞) in their understanding. Students who didn’t see that their knowledge could be wrong might just not study as hard as they should be. They won’t stop to ask themselves if they truly understand what they read, heard or did. They think they’ve got a subject down pat. But when they’re asked to explain it on a test, they don’t really understand as much as they thought that they did. Students who knew their beliefs could be wrong used skills that helped them in studying and test-taking, her team found. But how did these students react when they got test scores back? To find out, Porter studied 88 high-school students. All had the same math teacher. Porter gave them the same questions as before to see how much they questioned their beliefs. Four months later, after their teacher had graded a test, Porter passed out other questions to see how the students were reacting to their test grades. Teens who could see their beliefs might be wrong said they’d change their study skills. Besides, they’d decide how to improve to master the material for the next test. These students appeared to be more persistent (持续的) than the others. Instead of just going to try, they would be taking an honest look at what they’d done wrong and try to find out how to avoid (避免) that next time. They ended up with higher grades in math. “There’s not a person out there that doesn’t run into failure, “Porter says. “But really, the only way to get better is by persisting and learning from your failures.” 28. Knowing their knowledge could be wrong could ________. A. make students study more easily B. make students stop thinking more C. help students question their grades D. help students check their knowledge 29. The words “got a subject down pat” in Paragraph 3 are closest in meaning to ________. A. learned a subject for a long time B. understood a subject very well C. found out some holes in a subject D. had some problems with a subject 30. According to the passage, Paragraphs 5 and 6 are mainly about ________. A. what Porter’s team studied B. who Porter’s team studied C. why Porter’s team did the study D. how Porter’s team did the study 31. The writer probably agrees that ________. A. students should answer more questions to be smarter B. students should try to get higher grades to be smarter C. students should learn from their failures to be smarter D. students should change their study skills to be smarter 【答案】28. D 29. B 30. A 31. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了认识到自己可能是错误的可以帮助学生更有效地学习。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据“Students who could see that their beliefs might be wrong were much more likely to use skills to test their knowledge while they were studying. They’d check to see if they really understood the material and found out holes (洞) in their understanding.”可知,那些能够看到自己的信念可能是错误的学生更有可能在学习时使用技能来测试他们的知识,他们会检查他们是否真的理解了材料,并发现他们理解中的漏洞。故选D。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。根据“But when they’re asked to explain it on a test, they don’t really understand as much as they thought that they did.”可知,但当他们在测试中被要求解释时,他们并没有真正理解他们认为自己理解的那么多,故可推测got a subject down pat是指很好地了解了一个学科。故选B。 【30题详解】 主旨大意题。根据“But how did these students react when they got test scores back? To find out, Porter studied 88 high-school students. All had the same math teacher.”可知,但是当这些学生拿到考试成绩时,他们是什么反应呢?为了找到答案,波特研究了88名高中生,他们都有同一个数学老师。及“Porter gave them the same questions as before to see how much they questioned their beliefs. Four months later, after their teacher had graded a test, Porter passed out other questions to see how the students were reacting to their test grades.”可知,波特给了他们和之前一样的问题,看看他们对自己的信仰有多质疑。四个月后,在他们的老师给一次考试打分后,波特分发了其他问题,看看学生们对考试成绩的反应,可知文章第五第六段介绍是有关波特团队研究的内容。故选A。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据“‘There’s not a person out there that doesn’t run into failure, “Porter says. “But really, the only way to get better is by persisting and learning from your failures.’”可知,没有一个人不遭遇失败,但实际上,变得更好的唯一方法就是坚持并从失败中吸取教训,因此作者可能同意的观点是:学生应该从失败中学习,变得更聪明。故选C。 四、阅读表达(共8分) Family fights happen in every home. Maybe your parents don’t allow you to play video games, or your brother/sister takes your things without asking. These problems can make you feel angry or sad, but good communication can help solve them. Why Fights Happen? ●Different opinions: Parents may worry about your grades, while you care more about friends. ●Misunderstanding: Sometimes you forget to explain your feelings clearly. ●Busy schedules (日程安排): Family members may not have time to talk calmly. How to Communicate Better ●Listen first: Before speaking, try to understand the other person’s thoughts. ●Use “I” messages: Say “I feel upset when...” instead of “You always...”. ●Choose the right time: Discuss problems when everyone is relaxed, not during dinner or before exams. A Real Example Last week, Li Ming argued with his mum because she refused to let him join a school trip. Instead of shouting, he wrote a note, “Mum, I feel sad because I really want to go. Can we talk about safety rules?” Then, he talked to his mum calmly about the rules. Later, they reached an agreement—Li Ming could go if he finished his homework early. 32. Is it normal for families to have fights? ________________________________________ 33. How did Li Ming solve the problem with his mum? ________________________________________ 34. Do you agree that good communication can help solve problems? Why or why not? ________________________________________ 【答案】32. Yes, it is. 33. He wrote a note and then talked to his mum calmly. 34. Yes, I do. Because good communication helps people understand each other better and find solutions to problems. 【解析】 【导语】这篇短文介绍了家庭争吵的常见原因,并提供了通过倾听、使用“我”信息和选择合适时机等方法来改善沟通,从而解决问题,最后以李明成功与母亲沟通为例进行了说明。 【32题详解】 根据第一段“Family fights happen in every home.”可知,家庭争吵在每个家庭都可能会发生,所以是正常的。故答案为:Yes, it is. 【33题详解】 根据最后一段“Instead of shouting, he wrote a note...Then, he talked to his mum calmly about the rules.”可知,李明没有大喊大叫,而是给妈妈写了一张纸条,然后冷静地和妈妈谈了那些规则,最终他们达成了协议。故答案为:He wrote a note and then talked to his mum calmly. 【34题详解】 开放性作答,答案不唯一,言之有理,表达正确即可。是的,我同意。因为良好的沟通有助于人们更好地理解彼此,并找到解决问题的方法。参考答案为:Yes, I do. Because good communication helps people understand each other better and find solutions to problems. 五、短文填空:用括号内所给词的正确形式填空(每题1分,共5分) Safety is very important in our daily life. Last year, I took part in a school-wide English speech contest. At first, I was extremely nervous. The moment I stepped onto the stage, my mind went blank. A Sad Experience When did you visit a famous place last time? Learning to Study Smarter Knowing you could be wrong can lead you to learn more accurate (精确的) knowledge. A. students should answer more questions to be smarter B. students should try to get higher grades to be smarter C. students should learn from their failures to be smarter D. students should change their study skills to be smarter 四、阅读表达(共8分) Family fights happen in every home. 32.
