For visitors who are on a short weekend visit to the island Bali, here is a tip of how to get the most out of
their 48-hour visit.
Friday
3 pm — There is nothing like a good meal. La Lucciola at Seminyak is the place to be, with its good food, great service and a beautiful view of the sea.
5 pm — About an hour away from La Lucciola is Uluwatu. This southern tip of the island is famous for its
famous temple that stands on the edge, high above the sea. The fire dance, is performed here daily at sunset.
8 pm — To finish off the evening, head to Jimbaran Bay where restaurants offer candles, local dances and a moving band of boys singing songs on request. Kick off your shoes, feel the sand, and enjoy the fresh seafood.
Saturday
9:30 am — Start the day with another experience of Balinese culture by heading for a dance performance.
12 pm — Kintamani, a favourite with tourists for the panoramic (全景的) view of active volcano Mt. Batur and neighbouring crater lake. It’s a good idea to reach Kintamani early as it tends to get cloudy after 3 pm. Have lunch at a local restaurant with a view of Mt. Batur and the lake. Tourists can catch the sunrise at the Mt. Batur peak.
2:30 pm — Head back to Ubud, the seat of Bali’s fine arts, dance and music, and spend the rest of your afternoon strolling through its streets.
Sunday
6 am — It’s time for a reduce in the sea — and don’t forget the camera.
10:30 am — It’s another half-day trip to two of the most famous temples in Bali. Drive down to the Taman Ayun temple at Mengwi.
12 pm — Next up is the Tanah Lot temple, perhaps the most famous of them all. Built on a rock that gets cut off from the mainland during high tide, the temple is best seen in the afternoon when it is silhouetted (显出轮廓) against the sun or at sunset.

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·福建泉州·期末)
You probably know who Marie Curie was, but you may not have heard of Rachel Carson. Of the outstanding ladies listed below, who do you think was the most important woman of the past 100 years?
Jane Addams (1860-1935)
Anyone who has ever been helped by a social worker has Jane Addams to thank. Addams helped the poor and worked for peace. She encouraged a sense of community (社区) by creating shelters and promoting education and services for people in need. In 1931, Addams became the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Rachel Carson (1907-1964)
Without Rachel Carson, the environmental movement might not exist today. Her popular 1962 book Silent Spring raised awareness of the dangers of pollution and the harmful effects of chemicals on humans and on the world’s lakes and oceans.
Sandra Day O’Connor (1930-present)
When Sandra Day O’Connor finished third in her class at Stanford Law School in 1952, she could not find work at a law company because she was a woman. She became an Arizona state senator (参议员) and, in 1981, the first woman to join the U.S. Supreme Court. O’Connor gave the deciding vote in many important cases during her 24 years on the top court (法院).
Rosa Parks (1913-2005)
On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks would not give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus. Her simple act made her in prison. But it also set off the Montgomery bus boycott (抵制). It lasted for more than a year, and kicked off the civil-rights movement. “The only tired I was, was tired of giving in,” said Parks.

Book 2 of 2: A Picture History
In this second book in the best-selling graphic novel series, we start off 12, 000 years ago and move forward from there. For those who haven’t read the first book, read it first, but know that there’s an equally colorful and entertaining picture book waiting on the shelf.
Hello everyone, this is Zac, greeting you from Paris! I'm standing in one of the most famous museums on our planet—the Louvre Museum. Today, we start a journey to discover some of its breathtaking treasures. Let's go!
The Winged Victory of Samothrace
Now, the huge sculpture you can see is the Winged Victory of Samothrace, or Nike of Samothrace! I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this is. It looks like she has just flown down of the sky and is standing on the ship. Her head and the arms are missing, but you can imagine her holding her arms up high, celebrating the results of an
ancient battle. And just look at how the dress is being folded by the wind! I really can't believe she is made of stone. Mona Lisa
Alright, let's move on. You're sure to be fascinated by what lies ahead. Behold, the iconic Mona Lisa! It is the only Mona Lisa! The painting is a lot smaller than you would expect and is protected by glass. But from here, I can get a good view to show you when I look into her eyes, it seems she had a mind of her own! One moment she seems to be laughing at me but then again I catch a sense of sadness in her smile. I guess that's why she attracts so many visitors every day.
Rembrandt
And now it is time to take a closer look at one of the history greatest artists Rembrandt. He painted this self
portrait about 400 years ago. Throughout his life, he made over 90 self portraits! No one really knows why. Perhaps it was his way of taking a 17th century selfie? Or was simply cheaper to paint himself than to pay for a model?
For now, I bid you farewell, with a sincere hope that you will one day visit this wonderful place and experience the profound impact of these remarkable works of art for yourselves.

A. B.

Passage 1
(23-24高一下·福建莆田·期末)
Wildlife faces threats from habitat destruction, pollution, and some human activities. Although protecting wildlife may seem too hard at times, even small actions in your own neighborhood can help protect many different animals. Here are some tips on how to protect wildlife through small actions.
Create wildlife-friendly areas in your backyard
When trying to make your garden more beautiful, you can choose plants that can provide food and shelter for the native wildlife. This will also help cut down on pollution. Besides, bird or bat houses in your yard or garden can attract and shelter more species.
Avoid harming the natural ecosystem in your backyard
Some plants from other places can kill or harm the native plants that provide food and shelter for wildlife.
Have a greener lifestyle
By using less water and fewer fuels, you will do good to help protect the wildlife around you. Take buses or the subway if you can, turn off the electric devices when you’re not using them, take showers for a shorter time, and keep the temperature in your room at or below 68 Fahrenheit degrees in winter.
Buy products that are friendly to wildlife
Don’t buy products that are made from endangered animals. Keep in mind that some endangered animals are killed by traps, or hunters who are eager to earn money with them.
Donate money to organizations that protect wildlife and their habitats
You can give money to organizations or groups that protect wildlife in your neighborhood, thus promoting their work.

Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建厦门·期末)
一、阅读理解
Join Sandra Oddo as she shares a variety of tips and skills for making wine at home using elderflowers and
elderberries.
Items
ElderflowerWine Recipe (食谱)
ElderberryWine Recipe
Ingredients
● Elderflowers (at least one quart);
● 1 gallon of boiling water per quart of flowers;
● 2 to 2-1/2 pounds of sugar per gallon of liquid;
● 2 lemons per gallon, juiced;
● 1 packet of dry wine yeast (酵母) per 5 gallons of liquid.
● Elderberries (at least 2 gallons);
● 1 gallon of boiling water per 2 gallons of berries;
● 3-1/2 to 4 pounds of sugar per gallon of boiled-down liquid;
● 1 packet of dry wine yeast per 5 gallons of liquid.
Instructions
● Cut a quart of flowers from the stems;
● Pour a gallon of boiling water over the flowers;
● Let the tea soak three or four days with the flowers pressed down under the liquid (they turn brown and ruin the color of the drink if they’re left in the air);
● Strain off the fluid and heat some of it to dissolve 2 to 2-1/2 pounds of sugar per gallon;
● Add the juice of 2 lemons per gallon along with yeast;
● Let the mixture work in a container with an air lock.
● Pick nice fat berries about two days ahead, remove them from the stems and smash up the fruit:
● Pour boiling water over the mixture, soaking for about a week;
● Keep the container covered with a towel to protect the working “must” from dust and the odd yeast floating around in the air;
● Strain off and save the juice and mix 3-1/2 to 4 pounds of sugar into each gallon of the liquid.
1.What is a different ingredient when we are making Elderflower Wine and Elderberry Wine?
A.Water. B.Lemon. C.Sugar. D.Yeast.

主题14 人与社会—— 旅游与交通
Passage 1
(22-23高一下·福建南平·期末)
With so much history to explore, Rome is best visited by bike. Bikers will be in heaven with tours both within the city’s walls and a quick train ride into the nearby region. Here are some of our favorite local biking paths.
● Lungotevere Ponte
Starting from Ponte Garibaldi, you will find a 16-kilometer path that extends along the Tiber River through the north of the city. This path is excellent as it is specially for runners and bikers, meaning that you will not have to worry about cars and the majority of the path is newly paved. Along your path, you’ll pass Rome’s Olympic
Stadium.
● Appia Antica
While the cobblestones certainly provide a bumpy ride, this path is unlike any other. Appia Antica has seen two thousand years of history, and served as the Roman Empire’s road from Rome to southern Italy. You will bike along streets where the Roman army originally marched and you will pass ruins simply out in the open.
● Lago Bracciano
To take advantage of this path, you will want to take a train out to the city of Bracciano. Italy’s main train company, Trenitalia, allows you to bring your bike for an additional fee, and from Bracciano you can explore its three surrounding towns. The area hosts an incredibly well-preserved castle and lovely views of the lake and mountains.
● Castelli Romani
Castelli Romani are towns surrounding Rome, and each offers its own unique feature. You can either ride out to the Castelli from Rome or take the train to Marino, Frascati, Lanuvio, Castel Gandolfo or Velletri, and plan a tour that allows you to check out a couple of them and get a feel for life in the Roman countryside.
1.What do we know about Lungotevere Ponte?
A.It’s a non-motor path. B.It has a long history.
C.It cuts through the city center. D.It’s Rome’s longest cycling path.
2.Which path is more attractive for those interested in Roman history?
A.Lungotevere Ponte. B.Appia Antica.
C.Lago Bracciano. D.Castelli Romani.
3.What do Lago Bracciano and Castelli Romani have in common?
A.They provide free train rides. B.They are outside Rome city.
C.They wind through three towns. D.They offer striking lake view.
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.B
【导语】这是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了四条车道的情况。

Passage 2
(23-24高一下·福建福州八县(市)协作校·期末)
For visitors who are on a short weekend visit to the island Bali, here is a tip of how to get the most out of their 48-hour visit.
Friday
3 pm — There is nothing like a good meal. La Lucciola at Seminyak is the place to be, with its good food, great service and a beautiful view of the sea.
5 pm — About an hour away from La Lucciola is Uluwatu. This southern tip of the island is famous for its famous temple that stands on the edge, high above the sea.
1.From the passage, we know that the fire dance is performed .
A.in Ubud B.only on weekends
C.on the sea D.every day

Her popular 1962 book Silent
Spring raised awareness of the dangers of pollution and the harmful effects of chemicals on humans and on the world’s lakes and oceans.

Her head and the arms are missing, but you can imagine her holding her arms up high, celebrating the results of an ancient battle.
He painted this self portrait about 400 years ago.
1.Which of the following picture refers to Nike of Samothrace?
A. B.
C. D.

C.Her good appearance. D.Her mysterious expressions.

Unlike other cruising opportunities, this isn’t about watching the countryside pass you by — you’ll be closely hugged by grand, towering canal walls either side of you-a fantastic reminder that you really are on board a smaller ship.

When trying to make your garden more beautiful, you can choose plants that can provide food and shelter
for the native wildlife.

Join Sandra Oddo as she shares a variety of tips and skills for making wine at home using elderflowers and elderberries.
Items
ElderflowerWine Recipe (食谱)
ElderberryWine Recipe
Ingredients
● Elderflowers (at least one quart);
● 1 gallon of boiling water per quart of flowers;
● 2 to 2-1/2 pounds of sugar per gallon of liquid;
● 2 lemons per gallon, juiced;
● 1 packet of dry wine yeast (酵母) per 5 gallons of liquid.
● Elderberries (at least 2 gallons);
● 1 gallon of boiling water per 2 gallons of berries;
● 3-1/2 to 4 pounds of sugar per gallon of boiled-down liquid;
● 1 packet of dry wine yeast per 5 gallons of liquid.
Instructions
● Cut a quart of flowers from the stems;
● Pour a gallon of boiling water over the flowers;
● Let the tea soak three or four days with the flowers pressed down under the liquid (they turn brown and ruin the color of the drink if they’re left in the air);
● Strain off the fluid and heat some of it to dissolve 2 to 2-1/2 pounds of sugar per gallon;
● Add the juice of 2 lemons per gallon along with yeast;
● Let the mixture work in a container with an air lock.
● Pick nice fat berries about two days ahead, remove them from the stems and smash up the fruit:
● Pour boiling water over the mixture, soaking for about a week;
● Keep the container covered with a towel to protect the working “must” from dust and the odd yeast floating around in the air;
● Strain off and save the juice and mix 3-1/2 to 4 pounds of sugar into each gallon of the liquid.

Along your path, you’ll pass Rome’s Olympic Stadium.
