In October 2024,my overconfidence in my own strength left me with a lower back
injury.Days later, the pain began radiating down the sciatic nerve in my left leg.Standing
was fine, but sitting was torture ()In order to sleep,I had to slide a pillow
underneath my legs to keep the downward-pulsing shockwaves at bay.
In mid-December,I saw a pain medicine specialist.Once a week,I went in,got a
soft-tissue massage and did well-supervised exercises and stretches. My pain wasn't gone,
but it was finally under control.
Meanwhile,I've also been seeing a new physio from Flok Health, the first AI clinic
in the UK.When I first opened Flok,I was greeted by Kirsty,my therapist().In
our first session,Kirsty asked me questions about my pain, and I responded by clicking
multiple-choice options.Rather than being a live video call, this interaction is a series of
pre-recorded videos stitched()together by AI based on my answers. She asked me to
follow her careful lead on the screen to decide the best course of treatment. She gave me
stretches and exercises to try for the week ahead, with careful instructions not to push too

hard or do anything that feels uncomfortable.Unlike my human physical therapists who
corrected my posture and told me when I was doing something wrong,Kirsty can't
see me.
As to these AI tools,Elizabeth Stuart,a professor, said,"They are no different
from other healthcare interventions. But sometimes they are a black box, changing under
the hood in real time.We need to assess carefully how well they work and who they work
for. While we don't need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to Al,we do need to
recognize these systems keep evolving. With some AI tools, they are sort of self-
adapting.”
My back felt better after my sessions with Flok, but the app likely isn't for me.I'm
clumsy and uncoordinated and need someone watching my form at all times-if not,I'm
likely to hurt myself further. That ability to watch patients and offer feedback on posture
could be something AI will enable in the future-but until then,I'll be sticking with the
humans.
24.Why is the author's back pain mentioned?
A.To introduce the AI physio service.
B.To stress the severity of the back pain.
C.To complain about the healthcare system.
D.To highlight the importance of overconfidence.
25.What did Kirsty fail to do in treating the author's back pain?
A.Inquire about my previous symptoms.
B.Request me to follow her instructions.
C.Address the author's posture errors timely.
D.Suggest stretches and exercises next week.
26.What's Stuart's view on AI health tools?
A.Build new assessment rules.
B.Replace with black-box tech.
C.See them as a new care intervention.
D.Evaluate them with a forward-looking view.
27.What can we infer about the author's future choice of therapy?
A.Mainly use AI tools.
B.Keep human therapists.
C.Switch to a new Al app.
D.Stop all therapy sessions.

Human-elephant conflict is a growing issue in several areas. In Kenya, where the
population and demand for resources is growing,human-inhabited areas are increasingly
overlapping with elephant's ranges.Combined with the recovery of some elephant
populations, this is leading to greater chance of conflict between humans and these giants.
"Expansion of agricultural land, logging, urbanization, and shrinking and
fragmentation (of elephant habitats are forcing elephants to enter human
settlements in search of food and water,"says Greta Francesca lori,an advisor on
elephant conservation and human-elephant conflict."Wherever there are elephants, there
are instances and information coming through of human-elephant conflict.
In the early 2000s,Fritz Vollrath,an ecologist,and lain Douglas-Hamilton,founder
of Save The Elephants, heard a folklore story from Kenyan pastoralists about how trees in
certain areas were not damaged by elephants because they had beehives in them.
Inspired by the tale, they began working with Lucy King,co-existence director at
Save the Elephants,to investigate scientifically whether bees could really scare the
elephants."They concluded elephants not only stay away from trees containing beehives
of wild African honeybees, but also rumble (to each other to tell each other to
stay away..”King says..
King designed a fence made of beehives. The fence goes all around a farm, with hives
placed every 10 meters between two posts."For one acre of farmland, you need 24
beehives,"King says."However, every other one is a dummy beehive-a fake made of
just a yellow piece of plywood that gives the elephants the illusion that there are more
beehives than there really are.As an elephant approaches in the dark, they don't know
which one is real and which one is fake.So it's an illusion. And it seems to work.
"I think it's creative. You've got this natural mechanism by which you can deter
these animals from approaching farms, says Shannon,a wildlife ecologist."Still, the
study also revealed some of the weaknesses of the tool. For example, the bee populations
plummeted()during drought years due to a lack of flowering plants. The fences
managed to deter only around 73%of the passing elephants.
For now,the beehive fences are helping communities.People also believe they need
to co-exist with elephants.
28.What leads to human-elephant conflict?
A.Elephant habitat loss.
B.More elephant ranges.
C.Less human population.
D.Better living conditions.
高二英语试题第6页(共12页)
29.Why are dummy beehives used in the fence?
A.To attract more bees to the farm.
B.To make the fence look more beautiful.
C.To reduce the cost of building the fence.
D.To create a false appearance of more beehives.
30.What can we learn about the beehive fence from the text?
A.It works better at night than during the day.
B.It is a perfect solution to human-elephant conflict.
C.Its effectiveness is affected by weather conditions.
D.It can deter all elephants from approaching farms.
31.What did Shannon think of the beehive fences?
A.Promising but clumsy.
B.Controversial and risky.
C.Innovative yet imperfect.
D.Expensive yet effective.

On March 13,2026,China's National Medical Products Administration approved the
world's first commercial implantable brain-computer interface(BCI,脑机接口)device for
medical use.Developed by Shanghai's Neuralace in cooperation with Tsinghua University,
the NEO System has placed China at the cutting edge of global neurotechnology.
The device is built for patients aged 18 to 60 living with cervical spinal cord injuries,
a condition that often leaves people unable to move their hands freely.Using a minimally
invasive epidural implant,it avoids direct contact with brain tissue, keeping medical risks
low.The system reads brain signals wirelessly and translates them into commands for a
robotic glove, helping patients grasp objects, drink, and complete daily tasks on their
own.Thirty-two patients took part in trials across 11 major Chinese hospitals.Every
participant showed better hand control, and nearly 69 percent maintained improved nerve
function even after long periods without the device.
While top international companies in the field are still conducting clinical tests,China
has become the first nation to make this life-changing technology officially available for
patient care. This achievement is far more than a technological win.It brings new hope to
millions worldwide affected by paralysis and shows how far China has advanced in cutting-
edge medical research. As a landmark moment in brain science,it also speaks to the
高二英语试题第7页(共12页)
growing strength of Chinese innovation and the nation's ability to improve real lives
around the globe.
The wireless design of the NEO System avoids frequent battery replacement
surgeries, making it more suitable for long-term use. With further research and
optimization, this technology is expected to benefit more groups with movement disorders
and may even be applied to daily assistance and rehabilitation fields in the future.
However, experts agree that BCI technology is still in its early stage, and its long-term
safety and effects require continuous observation and exploration.
32.What helps reduce the device's medical risks?
A.Frequent clinical trials.
B.Robotic glove control.
C.Wireless signal reading.
D.Minimally invasive implant.
33.What can be inferred about the NEO System in China?
A.It still needs more clinical tests abroad.
B.It brings steady help to patients.
C.It directly touches the brain tissue.
D.It has been widely used worldwide.
34.What does the underlined word "optimization"in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.improvement B.decrease
C.invention
D.failure
35.Why does the author write the text?
A.To predict BCI's future applications.
B.To show ways to treat spinal injuries.
C.To introduce a medical breakthrough.
D.To praise Chinese medical researchers.

In the digital age,a WeChat profile picture has become people's first "digital face".
36 As the famous psychologist Jung once said:"The persona is the tool for
individuals to adapt to society, but over-reliance on it will blur(使.,.变模糊)the true
self."Behind those deliberately decorated profile pictures often hide the users'deviation in
self-awareness and ignorance of others'feelings. This article will analyze three typical
low-level WeChat profile pictures and reveal their deep psychological mechanisms.
高二英语试题第8页(共12页)
37 Their pictures show steering wheels with famous watches or piles of luxury
goods.Psychologically, when individuals lack a sense of achievement in reality, they
often build false superiority through virtual symbols. In fact, only 2%of truly wealthy
people use such profile pictures.38
The second is the vulgar type.Their pictures contain revealing images or suggestive
(暗示性的)emojis..According to psychological studies, such users easily simplify
interpersonal relationships into resource exchange.39 It will indirectly damage
others'social experience just like "second-hand smoke".
The third is the negative-energy type with gloomy selfies or pessimistic words.Such
pictures act as an "emotional black hole"in the digital world.40 To break the cycle,
we should develop a growth mindset and face life positively.
In conclusion, profile pictures are like mirrors reflecting our personality.True
personality lies not in unusual pictures, but in an independent mind and sincere character.
A.The first kind is the show-off type.
B.It will gradually drive friends away.
C.Many people change their profile pictures often
D.Keeping a good profile picture helps make friends.
E.Such profile pictures are like social pollution online.
F.It not only displays personal aesthetics but also the inner world.

When Tom was two years and two months old,he suddenly shut the world away.
The once lively boy,who had loved playing with the family's pet dog and learned simple
English and Spanish words, fell completely silent. He stopped making eye contact,
refused to interact with anyone, and buried himself in his own lonely world.
Within two years,a string of misfortunes struck the family.Tom's grandfather died
of cancer, his parents got divorced, and his beloved pet dog passed away.Life became
extremely tough for Cathy, the single mother. She took Tom to see countless doctors and
tried every possible treatment, but all efforts were in vain.Tom was diagnosed with
autism(自闭症),growing more withdrawn(内向的)with empty,lifeless eyes,which
broke Cathy's heart every day.
Cathy never gave up on her son.She had to work tirelessly to earn a living while
seeking medical help. After eight painful years, with all methods tried and money running
out,she had no choice but to take the completely non-verbal Tom away from the noisy
city to the peaceful Devon countryside, hoping the quiet environment could comfort
her son.
Though in deep despair,Cathy never lost faith. She always remembered little Tom's
deep love for dogs,so she kept accompanying him to walk outdoors to relax. One quiet
afternoon, she took Tom for a slow walk on the wild grassland.
There, they found a little thin stray()dog in the thick grass. It was trembling
slightly, its head down, with big round eyes full of fear and helplessness, just like a lost
child.Quietly,Tom walked slowly toward the poor little dog.
Para.1:Something amazing happened.
Para.2:Moved by all this,Mom took the little dog home.

How to Use Doubao Wisely for Homework
Dear teachers and fellow students,
I'm Li Hua.It's my great honor to stand here and share my views on using Doubao
for homework.Nowadays, many of us turn to Doubao for quick answers, which saves
time but also makes some students lose the chance to think independently.
In my opinion,Doubao is a helpful assistant, never a replacement for our own
efforts. To use it wisely,we should first solve problems on our own, then use Doubao to
check answers or learn better methods.Let's make Doubao serve our study, not
control it.
Thank you for listening

W:When it comes to creating good study habits, one of the best things I've ever done is to
download,go study. It's an app my brother recommended to me back when I was in
high school, and I've been using it ever since. In class,it helps you take notes in a few
different ways.It can record the speech and turn it into text, which you can then save,
edit and share. You can also take a photograph of any type of written text,a
textbook,a document,even a teacher's notes on the blackboard,and then turn this
into editable text.It makes note taking so easy.I couldn't go to a class without it
now.You can also upload class study materials, use the app's software to create mind
maps, test cards and others, study aids and share them with classmates. And if you
often forget things like me,you'll probably love the study planner feature. It helps me
organize my classes,homework,tests and projects.If you're a student,I highly
recommend go study.
