It had rained a lot that month at our school. The playground was wet, and there were muddy puddles (泥坑) everywhere. But my best friend and I didn’t care. We were running, laughing, and having a great time during the break.
Suddenly, my friend fell. Before I could say anything, she fell straight into a big mud puddle. Mud splashed (溅) up on her clothes and even on her face. For one second, I was surprised. Then I started laughing. It looked so funny!
But my laughter stopped quickly. My friend looked at me with wet, muddy eyes and said, “You’re laughing at me, aren’t you?” Then she began to cry. I felt terrible. I didn’t want her to feel sad or embarrassed.
Other kids noticed the noise and started to walk over. Some pointed. Some whispered. My friend tried to stand up, but she was shaking. I knew I had to do something fast.
So I took a deep breath and made a brave choice.
I jumped right into the mud puddle next to her.
Mud went everywhere, and my shoes were soon brown and heavy. I felt embarrassed, and my face felt hot. But then my friend looked at me— and she laughed. Her tears stopped, and soon we were both laughing together in the mud.
Just then, our teachers came outside. “What is everyone looking at?” one teacher asked. They saw us covered in mud. First, they laughed. Then they frowned (皱眉) and told us to stand up and clean ourselves.
I didn’t mind at all. My clothes were dirty, and I got in a little trouble. But my friend was smiling again. That muddy day became one of the happiest moments I ever had at school.

Imagine coming home after a long day at work. The door opens by itself, your favorite music starts to play, and dinner is almost ready. This may sound like a story from the future, but it is becoming real in more and more homes today.
A smart home can be controlled from far away using a smartphone or a computer. People can decide what extra features they want. For example, people who often travel may worry about safety. With a smart home, they can look at their home cameras from anywhere in the world. They can turn lights on and off to see clearly and will get a message right away if a sensor finds movement. For others, making life easier is more important. A smart home can help feed pets and water plants. It might also have a special refrigerator that knows what food is inside, gives ideas for meals, and even orders more food when it is needed.
Smart homes can also help save money and protect the environment. They use less energy and can work with green energy systems (系统)like solar panels (太阳能板). These homes can even show how much money they save each month and help with recycling.
These homes are especially helpful for older people and those with disabilities. They make life safer and more comfortable at home, which is a good choice instead of living in a care center all the time. For example, a smart home for a person with memory problems can tell them to do daily things like taking a shower or eating meals. It can help them take medicine on time and even call for help in an emergency (紧急情况).
Smart home technology is creating exciting new ways of living. It can do many things to help us. Right now, what smart homes can do is only limited by what we can dream of!

Keep Safe During the Break
During the ten-minute break, some students do very dangerous things. Some play football in the hallway, and others chase each other inside or outside the classroom. They run and shout everywhere.
These behaviors are really dangerous. Students may knock down others and get hurt easily. They might also fall down and hurt their knees or arms.
To stay safe, we can have meaningful and fun activities. First, we can read storybooks or talk quietly with classmates in the classroom. Second, we can take a slow walk in the yard to relax our mind and body.
Break time is for rest. Let’s keep safe and stay away from dangerous games.
