Have you ever seen a bee fly busily? Do you think the bee is just flying around? In fact, the bee is hard at work.
Bees spend much time looking for food. But not all the bees in the honeycomb have this work. There’re three kinds of bees—a queen bee, drones (雄蜂), and worker bees. The queen bee is the mother of all the bees that live in the honeycomb. Worker bees do all the other work in the honeycomb. Besides looking for food, they make and clean the honeycomb. They also look after the queen bee and protect her.
Bees make dance-like movements inside the honeycomb to send different information about food. They tell where the food is and how far away it is from the honeycomb. Bees can even share how much food there is and how good it is. And surprisingly, a new study has found that a group of bees could create an amazing total of electricity (电) by beating their wings more than 200 times per second. And the amount (量) of electricity could reach 100 to 1,000 V. That’s eight times greater than the electricity a storm cloud can create.
Scientists found that the thicker (更厚的) a cloud of bees is, the more electricity it generates. Based on these findings, the team recorded that bees—which group together to form a huge, thick cloud of bees—could have an influence similar to that of a storm. Further research is needed to find out how electricity influences the bees and their environment.
6. What do worker bees need to do?
①Make the honeycomb.
②Look for food.
③Take care of the queen.
④Protect drones.
A. ①②④ B. ①②③ C. ②③④ D. ①③④
7. How do bees communicate with one another?
A. By making noise. B. By creating electricity.
C. By spreading (散播) smells. D. By using different movements.
8. What does the underlined word “generates”in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Takes. B. Spreads. C. Changes. D. Creates.
9. Which one shows the relationship between the thickness of a cloud of bees (x) and the amount of electricity (y)?
A. B.
C. D.
10. Which can be the best title for the passage?
A. The Ways of Flying B. The History of Bees
C. The Secrets of Bees D. The Beauty of Nature
B 7. D 8. D 9. A 10. C

第三段开头提到“Bees make dance-like movements inside the honeycomb to send different information about food”,说明蜜蜂通过类似舞蹈的不同动作传递信息,因此答案是原文直接信息。
第三段提到“a group of bees could create an amazing total of electricity”,第四段指出“Scientists found that the thicker a cloud of bees is, the more electricity it generates”,表明“generates”与“create”意思一致,意为“产生、创造”。
第四段明确说明“the thicker a cloud of bees is, the more electricity it generates”,即蜂群的厚度(x)与产生的电量(y)呈正比关系,因此答案是基于原文直接信息的逻辑推断。

It’s important for teenagers to learn some life skills and form good working habits. As our country asks, schools should play a key part in teaching students about the importance of working hard. To our happiness, our school gives us labour (劳动) classes every week.
The third Saturday in December last year was right the Winter Solstice (冬至). To celebrate it, our teacher decided to teach us to make dumplings together in the labour class on Friday.
We had that class in the dining hall. Our teacher made us into eight groups and each group brought their ingredients. With the help of our teachers and the chef, we started our work.
First, we mixed the flour with water to make the dough (面团). Then, we made the filling. We cut the meat and vegetables into small pieces, put them in a bowl and added salt, soy sauce, and green onions. Next, we cut the dough into small pieces and used a rolling pin (擀面杖) to make them into thin dumpling wrappers. After that, we took a dumpling wrapper, put some filling in the centre, folded the dumpling wrapper and pinched the edges (捏边) to make it rounded, but it was much easier to say than to do. When facing problems, I often turned to my mum for help,“Could you help me?” However, her answer always was, “Do it yourself, dear.”This used to make me feel sad, making me think of her as a lazy (懒惰的) mother.
For example, one day, I invited some friends over, and my bedroom was in a mess (脏乱). Books were all over the table and floor, and I forgot to make my bed. I asked my mother for help to tidy up, but she seriously said, “Do it yourself, girl.” I had to clean the room myself. Luckily, when my friends arrived, my bedroom was clean enough. Because of my mother’s laziness, I had to wash my clothes, keep my room clean, and even go to a doctor by myself. I did all these things reluctantly with a voice in my heart, “What a cold and lazy mum I have!”
As I grow up, I understand my mother little by little. Her so-called laziness was a way to build my independence (独立). I realized that her words “A lady can’t be lazy, or she will be crazy. Work can make you sunny.” were the truth. It was really hard to do everything on my own, but I learnt a lot. Through the early hard times, I learnt the importance of depending on (依靠) myself and got important life skills. Now, I am thankful for the lessons my mother taught me, as they shape me into a strong and hard-working person.

18. What does the underlined word “reluctantly” in Paragraph 2 mean?
19. What can you learn from the writer’s experience?
A. A girl usually learns from her lazy mother.
B. Mothers are good at telling the truth.
C. Children can grow up without mothers’ help.
D. A mother’s “laziness” makes her child independent.
20. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The writer’s mother was a lazy woman.
B. The writer learnt a lot from her mother’s “laziness”.
C. The writer always lived a comfortable life when growing up.
D. The writer didn’t like her mother’s way of teaching.
C 17. D 18. A 19. D 20. B
根据原文第一段“This used to make me feel sad...”
根据划线词所在句“...with a voice in my heart, ‘What a cold and lazy mum I have!’”
根据原文第三段“Her so-called laziness was a way to build my independence.”
根据原文第三段“It was really hard to do everything on my own, but I learnt a lot.”以及“Now, I am thankful for the lessons my mother taught me...”

C. D.
10. Which can be the best title for the passage?

C. The Secrets of Bees D. The Beauty of Nature

Finally, we boiled the dumplings in hot water. When they floated (漂浮) up, they were cooked.

20. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The writer’s mother was a lazy woman.
B. The writer learnt a lot from her mother’s “laziness”.
