A A Visual Guide to Healthy Eating Think of this guide as a practical tool for planning healthy, balanced meals—whether you eat at home or pack food for school or work. Building a Healthy and Balanced Diet The Healthy Eating Plate gives a clear, visual way to put together a healthy meal. By placing several food groups on one plate, it emphasizes balance, smart choices, and everyday eating patterns. The guidelines point out what is most important in healthy eating: ● The kind of carbohydrate matters more than the total amount. Some carbohydrate sources—such as vegetables (except potatoes), fruits, whole grains, and beans—are better choices than others. ● It advises people to stay away from sugary drinks, which add a lot of calories but usually provide little nutrition in the American diet. ● It supports the use of healthy oils and does not set a strict upper limit on how much of one’s daily calories should come from healthy fats. In this sense, the Healthy Eating Plate sends a message that is different from the low-fat advice that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has promoted for decades. Your Plate and the Planet Food affects more than personal health. Different foods can also affect the environment in different ways. Producing food is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, and it puts heavy pressure on the earth’s natural resources. 1. Which food is NOT recommended to eat according to the Healthy Eating Plate? A. Nuts added to a salad. B. Brown rice with beans. C. Steamed fish with vegetables. D. Bacon served with white bread. 2. Why does the passage mention the USDA? A. To show it is a famous food department. B. To tell readers its advice is out of date. C. To say the Healthy Eating Plate has a new idea. D. To explain how to make low-fat food. 3. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Food choice quality matters most. B. Balanced meals should avoid fats. C. Healthy eating is mainly calorie counting. D. Sugary drinks cause weight gain. D 2. C 3. 根据图片中“WHOLE GRAINS”部分的“Go easy on refined grains like white rice and white bread.(尽量少吃精制谷物,比如白米饭和白面包。)”和“HEALTHY PROTEIN”部分的“Avoid bacon, deli meats, and other processed meats.(避免食用培根、熟食肉类和其他加工肉类。)” The guidelines point out what is most important in healthy eating部分中的“In this sense, the Healthy Eating Plate sends a message that is different from the low-fat advice that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has promoted for decades. (就此而言,健康饮食餐盘所传递的理念,与美国农业部数十年来一直倡导的低脂饮食建议截然不同。)”可知,文中提及USDA是为了说明健康饮食餐盘提出了与传统低脂建议不同的新理念。 【3题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是文中“The kind of carbohydrate matters more than the total amount.(碳水化合物的种类比其总量更重要。)” B “Growing fruit trees is a very simple way to stay in love with our world,” says Vivian Keh, playwright and daughter of immigrants, holding a basket of persimmons (柿子) she’s cultivated to feel connected to her Korean ancestors. Keh is just one of the 50 remarkable subjects in naturalist writer Amy Stewart’s The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession, a collection of portraits of people transformed by their love of trees. Initially, trees struck Stewart as an odd thing to collect. Intrigued by this community of enthusiasts, she discovered educators, preservationists and visionaries, all drawn to a kind of curation, motivated by reasons diverse as their projects. They plant trees in public and private spaces both modest and expansive, nurturing (培育) their collections to honor beloved dead, attract wildlife, preserve rare species’ connect to history, invest in the future, grow food and create beauty. Steward categorizes these tree collectors according to their sense of purpose. Kenneth Hoegh, one of the book’s “ecologists”, tests which cold-loving species might grow in a warming and historically treeless Greenland. “Healer” Joe Hamilton plants loblolly pines on a parcel of land he got from his enslaved ancestors with an eye toward long-term sustainable forestry which he hopes will establish a source of generational wealth for his family. Reagan Wytsalucy has a plan to restore traditional peach orchards on Navajo land as one of the “community builders” who seek to bring people together. Adding to the book’s charm are Stewart’s watercolor’ illustrations — she gives Us a look at each of her human subjects while also cataloging the most wonderful qualities of featured trees, such as Seussian eucalyptus seed pods and delicate camellia blossoms. After spending time in this varied commonwealth, you’ll undoubtedly experience an intense desire to rest under the shade of a leafy oak. But something even deeper is happening here: by creating a space for people to talk about something they love. “How often do any of us get a chance to pour our hearts out to a stranger?” she writes. “Somehow, talking about trees made it possible.” 4. What does the underlined word “curation” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Connection. B. Collection. C. Treatment. D. Transformation, 5. What purpose of planting trees is mentioned in paragraph 3? A. To preserve rare species. B. To honor beloved dead. C. To develop new varieties. D. To strengthen social bonds. 6. What does the quote in the last paragraph suggest about discussing trees? A. It inspires new ideas. B. It rarely happens in public. C. It allows deep emotional sharing. D. It helps resolve environmental issues. 7. What does the writer think of the book? A. Complicated. B. Conventional. C. Inspiring. D. Intense. B 5. D 6. C 7. The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession,该书描绘了50位因对树木的热爱而改变的人物。 由文章第二段“Initially, trees struck Stewart as an odd thing to collect. Intrigued by this community of enthusiasts, she discovered educators, preservationists and visionaries, all drawn to a kind of curation, motivated by reasons diverse as their projects.(起初,斯图尔特觉得收集树木很奇怪。被这个爱好者群体所吸引,她发现了教育工作者、保护主义者和梦想家,他们都被这一种 所吸引,其动机与他们的项目不同)”可知,这里curation应指前一句中所提及的收集,所以猜测curation表“收集”的意思。故选B项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。由文章第三段“‘Healer’ Joe Hamilton plants loblolly pines on a parcel of land he got from his enslaved ancestors with an eye toward long-term sustainable forestry which he hopes will establish a source of generational wealth for his family. Reagan Wytsalucy has a plan to restore traditional peach orchards on Navajo land as one of the ‘community builders’ who seek to bring people together.(‘治疗师’乔·汉密尔顿在他从被奴役的祖先那里获得的一块土地上种植火炬松,着眼于长期可持续的林业,他希望这将为他的家庭建立一代人的财富来源。Reagan Wytsalucy计划恢复纳瓦霍土地上的传统桃园,作为寻求将人们聚集在一起的‘社区建设者’之一)”可知,第3段提到植树是可以加强社会联系的。故选D项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。由文章最后一段“‘How often do any of us get a chance to pour our hearts out to a stranger?’ she writes. ‘’Somehow, talking about trees made it possible.’(她写道:‘我们中有多少人有机会向陌生人倾诉心声?不知何故,和树聊天可以使这成为可能。’)”可知,和树聊天可允许人们进行深度的情感分享。故选C项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。由文章最后一段“After spending time in this varied commonwealth, you’ll undoubtedly experience an intense desire to rest under the shade of a leafy oak. But something even deeper is happening here: by creating a space for people to talk about something they love. (在这个多样化的联邦度过一段时间后,你无疑会强烈渴望在绿树成荫的橡树下休息。但这里正在发生更深层次的事情:为人们创造一个谈论他们喜欢的事情的空间)”以及上下文可知,作者认为这本书鼓舞人心,会让读者爱上树以及向往书里的生活。故选C项。 C The Haenyeo women who dive deep into the East China Sea to harvest seashells and fish spend the most time underwater of any humans ever studied— one to five hours a day. The women spent an average of 56 percent of the time beneath the surface— more underwater time than many aquatic (水生的) mammals, the researchers say. Biologist McKnight’s team worked with seven Haenyeo from South Korea’s Jeju Island. They tracked 1, 786 dives, recording time underwater, depth, and oxygen levels in the women’s brains and muscles. The results showed the Haenyeo dive for 2 to 10 hours a day, spending more time than other aquatic mammals. The history of female divers in this part of Asia dates back 3, 000 years. Researchers had studied the divers in the lab, but this time the team monitored them in a real-life setting to put their abilities in context with other aquatic mammals, which was distinct from prior research. The team expected to see low oxygen levels and slow heart rates in the Haenyeo, characteristics of other mammals’ physiological dive response. Instead, it was the opposite: The women had elevated heart rates and very little oxygen reduction in their brains or muscles while diving, a surprise that might be explained by the women’s frequent, shallow dives. The Haenyeo dives range from 3 to 15 feet deep, averaging 11 seconds in length with just 9 seconds between dives to recover on the surface. Even more impressive is their average age of 70. “This shows amazing health,” said co-author Melissa Ilardo. Her lab study found the Jeju Haenyeo have genetic differences linked to blood pressure and cold tolerance, aiding their diving. McKnight hopes to study their CO2 tolerance next, as repeated breath-holding builds CO₂, which upsets most people. Marine biologist Ted Cheeseman noted their diving is like sea otters’ (海獭) , adding: “Their adaptation shows culture drives evolution.” 8. How does the study present the Haenyeo women’s diving ability? A. By giving examples. B. By analysing causes. C. By providing statistics. D. By quoting the former study. 9. What distinguished the study from former research? A. The duration of the study. B. The research environment. C. The data analysis method. D. The number of participants. 10. Which of the following can refer to the underlined word “elevated” in Para. 4? A. Increased. B. Delayed. C. Measured. D. Disturbed. 11. What did Melissa Ilardo’s study show? A. Blood pressure has no relation to diving. B. All Jeju women have strong cold tolerance. C. The Haenyeo’s diving skill is purely learned. D. Genes make for the Haenyeo’s diving ability. C 9. B 10. D 11. 根据第一段“The Haenyeo women who dive deep into the East China Sea to harvest seashells and fish spend the most time underwater of any humans ever studied — one to five hours a day.(海女们潜入东海深处采集贝壳和鱼类,她们在水下停留的时间比任何被研究过的人类都要长,每天1到5个小时。)”和第二段“The women spent an average of 56 percent of the time beneath the surface — more underwater time than many aquatic mammals, the researchers say. Biologist McKnight’s team worked with seven Haenyeo from South Korea’s Jeju Island. They tracked 1, 786 dives, recording time underwater, depth, and oxygen levels in the women’s brains and muscles. The results showed the Haenyeo dive for 2 to 10 hours a day, spending more time than other aquatic mammals.(研究人员说,这些女性平均有56%的时间在水下,比许多水生哺乳动物在水下的时间还要长。生物学家麦克奈特的团队与来自韩国济州岛的七名海女合作。他们追踪了1786次潜水,记录了水下时间、深度以及女性大脑和肌肉中的氧气水平。结果显示,海女们每天潜水2到10个小时,比其他水生哺乳动物在水下停留的时间更长。)”可知,这两段话通过提供统计数据来展示海女们的潜水能力。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Researchers had studied the divers in the lab, but this time the team monitored them in a real-life setting to put their abilities in context with other aquatic mammals, which was distinct from prior research.(研究人员曾在实验室里研究过这些潜水员,但这次研究小组在真实环境中监测了她们,以便将她们的能力与其他水生哺乳动物进行比较,这与之前的研究有所不同。)” 根据第四段“The team expected to see low oxygen levels and slow heart rates in the Haenyeo, characteristics of other mammals’ physiological dive response. Instead, it was the opposite.(研究团队原本以为会在海女身上观测到低血氧水平和心率放缓 —— 这是其他哺乳动物潜水生理反应的典型特征。结果却截然相反。)”可知,研究团队原本预计会观察到海女潜水时出现低氧水平和心率减慢的现象,然而结果却是相反的,所以画线单词elevated意为“加快,增加”。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Her lab study found the Jeju Haenyeo have genetic differences linked to blood pressure and cold tolerance, aiding their diving.(她的实验室研究发现,济州岛海女有与血压和耐寒性相关的基因差异,这有助于她们潜水。)” D With the continuous growth in the world’s energy needs, integrating energy collection into building design has become a key research area. Although the price of solar power systems has dropped significantly, leading to their widespread adoption, experts are now looking for methods to enhance the use of solar energy by turning everyday building parts, such as windows, into energy-generating units. A group from Nanjing University in China has made encouraging progress in this area. The team developed a new method that employs a special layer applied to windows to collect solar power. Unlike current solar windows, which frequently use colored materials that can darken the glass, this new approach uses a clear material known as cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC). CLCs, commonly used in items like screens, have a spiral (螺旋) shape that enables them to reflect light. By putting several thin films of CLCs onto glass, the researchers created a “colorless and unidirectional solar concentrator” (CUSC). This CUSC coating guides incident sunlight to the edges of the window, where small, integrated solar cells turn it into electricity. In a real-world trial, a small model window with five CLC layers was able to power a small 10mW fan located outdoors. The potential for this technology is considerable; calculations indicate that a standard window fitted with CUSC could collect fifty times more solar energy. This makes it particularly suitable for tall buildings in sunny regions close to the equator. The production method requires that the glass be thoroughly cleaned with high-frequency sound waves to remove dirt before the coating is applied. Nevertheless, several challenges remain to be addressed before it can be widely used. The research does not cover how well the coating resists bad weather conditions such as rain, ice, snow, or bird droppings. Furthermore, it is not yet known how routine window cleaning might affect the CUSC’s performance. Any additional layer could possibly reduce energy collection efficiency. Another point is the current policy in China, which now limits the building of extremely high structures — exactly the kind of buildings that could gain the most from this technology. 12. What is the core function of CUSC? A. To darken glass with colored materials. B. To capture light through window coating. C. To clean glass via high-frequency waves. D. To adjust glass temperature automatically. 13. What does the author want to show by mentioning the 10mW fan? A. Fans need little solar power. B. Strong light reflection works. C. The application of CLC layers. D. CUSC’s practical energy output. 14. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. CUSC’s full adoption in urban buildings. B. China’s new policy on high-rise buildings. C. Ways to protect CUSC from bad weather. D. Issues affecting CUSC’s popularity. 15. What is the author’s main purpose in writing the text? A. To introduce a new solar energy technology. B. To explain CLCs’ role in screen production. C. To analyze advantages of tall building design. D. To compare CUSC with current solar windows. B 13. D 14. D 15. 根据第二段“The team developed a new method that employs a special layer applied to windows to collect solar power. (该团队开发了一种新方法,通过在窗户上应用特殊涂层来收集太阳能。)”以及“This CUSC coating guides incident sunlight to the edges of the window, where small, integrated solar cells turn it into electricity. (这种CUSC涂层将入射的阳光引导到窗户边缘,在那里,小型集成太阳能电池将其转化为电能。)”可知,CUSC的核心功能是通过窗户涂层捕获光线。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“In a real-world trial, a small model window with five CLC layers was able to power a small 10mW fan located outdoors. (在一项现实世界的试验中,一个有五层CLC涂层的小型模型窗户能够为位于户外的一个10mW的小风扇供电。)”可知,作者通过提及10mW的风扇,旨在展示CUSC在实际应用中的能源输出能力。 【14题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Nevertheless, several challenges remain to be addressed before it can be widely used. 根据第一段“A group from Nanjing University in China has made encouraging progress in this area. (中国南京大学的一个研究小组在这一领域取得了令人鼓舞的进展。)”以及后文对该技术的详细介绍可知,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是介绍一种新的太阳能技术。 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2. 5 分,满分 12. 5 分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 5 Ways to Celebrate Small Wins Life is made up of little moments and long-term goals are achieved in bite-size steps, so acknowledging these small wins is key to staying on track. ____16____. So, here are some ways to acknowledge and celebrate your wins, no matter the size. When you achieve a small win, it can be tempting to simply start with the next task on your to-do list, or downplay the progress you’ve made. ____17____. This gives your brain time to absorb what you’ve accomplished, strengthening the positive feelings, and reminding you that progress, however small, still counts. ____18____. Make the most of this by writing a letter, email, or text message to someone who has helped you achieve your small win. This could be a loved one, mentor, or even your past self, and really highlights the importance of these mini-milestones. Take a photo, write a poem, or record a voice note about how you feel when you reach your milestone. These records become reminders on harder days, and act as proof that progress is happening. ____19____. Sometimes, the things that we count as successes worth shouting about aren’t necessarily recognized by society, or everyone in our circle. ____20____. You can celebrate yours with those who really do get it. Whether it’s speaking up in a GP appointment or finally picking up your dry cleaning, text that one friend who understands the significance of your win, and enjoy your win! A. But don’t let that discourage you. B. It also deepens your connection with others. C. Taking note of these wins can keep you motivated. D. So open up to a friend instead of bottling things up. E. Expressing gratitude can enhance the meaning of your small wins. F. Instead, practise intentionally pausing and slowing down after your small win. G. Over time, you’ll build a collection of moments that show how far you’ve come. C 17. F 18. E 19. G 20. 【16题详解】 上文“Life is made up of little moments and long-term goals are achieved in bite-size steps, so acknowledging these small wins is key to staying on track. (生活由一个个微小瞬间组成,长期目标是通过细碎的步骤实现的,因此认可这些小胜利是保持正轨的关键)”强调了认可小胜利的重要性。C选项“Taking note of these wins can keep you motivated. (记录这些小胜利能让你保持动力)”承接上文,进一步说明“认可小胜利”为何重要(因为能保持动力),并自然过渡到下文“So, here are some ways to acknowledge and celebrate your wins, no matter the size. (因此,这里有一些方法可以帮助你认可并庆祝自己的胜利,无论大小)”方法的列举,引出具体建议。上下文语意连贯。故选C项。 【17题详解】 上文“When you achieve a small win, it can be tempting to simply start with the next task on your to-do list, or downplay the progress you’ve made. (当你取得一个小胜利时,你很容易直接开始待办清单上的下一项任务,或者轻视自己取得的进步)”描述了一种常见的错误做法——忽略胜利、立即投入下一任务。F选项“Instead, practise intentionally pausing and slowing down after your small win. (相反,试着在小胜利后有意识地停下来、放慢节奏)”与上文构成明确的转折关系,通过“Instead”直接对上文的错误做法进行否定,并提出正确的替代行为。而下文“This gives your brain time to absorb what you’ve accomplished, strengthening the positive feelings, and reminding you that progress, however small, still counts. (这能让你的大脑有时间去消化你所取得的成就,强化积极感受,并提醒你:进步无论多小,都是有意义的)”也阐述了一种正确做法的好处,其中“This”指代F选项中“intentionally pausing and slowing”。上下文语意连贯。故选F项。 【18题详解】 下文“Make the most of this by writing a letter, email, or text message to someone who has helped you achieve your small win. This could be a loved one, mentor, or even your past self, and really highlights the importance of these mini-milestones. (充分利用这一点,给帮助过你取得小胜利的人写一封信、电子邮件或短信。这可以是爱人、导师,甚至是过去的自己,这一行为能真正凸显这些小里程碑的重要性)”具体描述了一种庆祝方式——向帮助过自己的人表达感谢。E选项“Expressing gratitude can enhance the meaning of your small wins. (表达感恩能增强你小胜利的意义)”作为本段小标题,精准概括了下文的核心行为(表达感恩)及其意义(增强意义感)。故选E项。 【19题详解】 上文“Take a photo, write a poem, or record a voice note about how you feel when you reach your milestone. These records become reminders on harder days, and act as proof that progress is happening. (拍一张照片、写一首诗,或录一段语音备忘录,记录你达成里程碑时的心情。这些记录会在艰难的日子里成为提醒,也是进步正在发生的证明)”描述了第三种庆祝方式——用多种形式记录当下的感受和成就。G选项“Over time, you’ll build a collection of moments that show how far you’ve come. (随着时间的推移,你将积累起一系列记录瞬间的合集,展示你已经走了多远)”承接上文,是上文“记录”行为自然导致的结果与长期价值,语意连贯。故选G项。 【20题详解】 上文“Sometimes, the things that we count as successes worth shouting about aren’t necessarily recognized by society, or everyone in our circle. (有时候,我们认为值得欢呼的成功,并不一定会被社会或我们圈子里的每一个人所认可)”指出一个困境——自己看重的小胜利未必能得到他人的理解。A选项“But don’t let that discourage you. (但不要因此而气馁)”与上文构成转折,先用简短有力的祈使句化解上文提到的困境带来的消极情绪,再自然引出下文“You can celebrate yours with those who really do get it. (你可以和那些真正理解你的人一起庆祝你的胜利)”的积极建议,起到了承上启下的作用。故选A项。 I was nervous when I stood up to compete for the lead role in the annual play. With her heart filled with sorrow, the mother also had a strong sense of determination, even though something was no longer possible. The cancer had brought them the nightmare. But she was still keen on wanting her son’s dreams to come true. She held her son’s hand and asked, “Jack, have you ever had an idea what you want to be when you grow up? Have you ever dreamed and wished about what you will do with your life?” “Mommy, I always want to be a fireman when I grow up.” Mom smiled back and said, “Let’s see if we can make your wish come true.” Later that day she went to the local fire department in Tedson, London, where she met Fireman Jim, who had a heart as big as Tedson. She explained her son’s final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her six-year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine. Fireman Jim said, “Look, we can do better than that. If you have your son ready at seven o’clock on Wednesday morning, we’ll make him an honorary fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And, if you give us his sizes, we’ll get a real fire uniform made for him, with a real fire hat — not a toy one — with the emblem of the Tedson Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots. They’re all manufactured right here in Tedson, so we can get them fast.” Actually, Fireman Jim came to pick up Jack two days later. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One night saw all of Jack’s life signs dropping sharply. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Actually, Fireman Jim came to pick up Jack two days later. Getting Jack dressed in his fire uniform, Jim accompanied him safely from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck. Seated up on the back of the truck, Jack helped drive it back to the fire station. That day there were three fire calls in Tedson and Jack got to go out on all of them. Jack rode in different fire engines, the attendants’ van and even the fire chief’s car. He was also videotaped for the local news program. One night saw all of Jack’s life signs dropping sharply. Recalling the day that Jack had spent as a fireman, the nurse called the fire chief and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Jack as he made his transition. About ten minutes later a hook and ladder truck reached the hospital, extended its ladder up to Jack’s third floor open window and 10 firemen climbed up the ladder into Jack’s room. With his mother’s permission, they hugged him, telling him how much they loved him. B “Growing fruit trees is a very simple way to stay in love with our world,” says Vivian Keh, playwright and daughter of immigrants, holding a basket of persimmons (柿子) she’s cultivated to feel connected to her Korean ancestors. C. Inspiring. D. Intense. C The Haenyeo women who dive deep into the East China Sea to harvest seashells and fish spend the most time underwater of any humans ever studied— one to five hours a day. D With the continuous growth in the world’s energy needs, integrating energy collection into building design has become a key research area. 5 Ways to Celebrate Small Wins Life is made up of little moments and long-term goals are achieved in bite-size steps, so acknowledging these small wins is key to staying on track. ____16____. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
