In a mountain village, 14-year-old Hannah often spent hours in the woods exploring new things while others were used to their robotic daily tasks. One rainy afternoon, she found an old house with broken windows. Though nervous, she tiptoed (蹑手蹑脚) and took a short breath—the dusty room was full of books! She jumped up and down with joy.
Hannah’s friends laughed when she shared her find. “Books? How boring!” they said. Hurt but determined, Hannah read and was so inspired by the books every night. The stories taught her about the power of love, courage and kindness. She returned to the house daily, cleaning the house secretly. When villagers asked about her cuts and dust-covered clothes, she simply smiled.
Although she knew it would be a difficult journey to share stories with the people in the village, she started telling stories in the fixed house. Her best friend Sanuki came first. As Hannah read aloud, her voice brought characters to life. Slowly, more neighbors joined. Children’s laughter replaced the house’s silence. Soon, villagers brought chairs and lamps, turning the space into a comfortable reading room.

Recently, a female tourist died after being bitten (咬) by a snake while walking back to a hotel in Sanya. Similarly, in May, three people in Shenzhen were rushed to hospitals after being bitten by snakes. Snakebites can be scary because they often happen far from the hospital.
In fact, snakes are shy animals and would much prefer to avoid humans, and if there is a chance, they would run away rather than attack (攻击) people. So like other animals, they will protect themselves if they feel scared. Most bites happen when a person accidentally steps on a snake or reaches near one without seeing it.
So it is important to realize that you are able to stay safe through both better understanding of snake habits and knowing snakebite treatments. The guidelines of Shenzhen Emergency Medical Center may help you in the event of a snakebite.
Immediately calling 120 is the most important step. Describe the snake-color, pattern and size. A photo of the snake is helpful for doctors to recognize the species for treatment. Once you’ve called 120, your job is to stay as calm as possible before reaching the hospital-fear speeds up the spread of venom (毒液). You can back away slowly and focus on keeping still, or if possible, you can gently clean the bitten area with clean water while waiting for medical help to slow the spread of venom.

When it comes to doing homework, many students now turn to GAI (Generative AI) for help. But is GAI a better homework helper than parents? 21
Sam Lee: I think GAI is better than parents in some ways. GAI is like a super-smart library! 22 GAI is also quick to answer questions. It gives answers in just a few seconds. 23 Once I asked it a maths problem and it quickly explained the answer step by step. My parents might need more time to think about the problem before working it out. Sure, parents know me better, but for quick answers, GAI wins!
Wang Kai: 24 Once, I asked two GAI helpers a history question, and they gave me different answers! Then I found one of the GAI helpers was wrong! When I told it about the mistake, it just said sorry without explaining how to find the right answer. So next time GAI gives you an answer, think it over. However, my parents are different. They use real-life examples to help me think. My dad once shared his experience of buying apples and oranges to explain a problem about linear equation in two variables (二元一次方程)! 25 GAI is fast, but my parents help me think deeply!
A.So it can save me a lot of time.
B.GAI knows more about my study habits.
C.Here are two students’ different ideas on it.

61.例文:
On behalf of an excellent student of this school year, it is my great honor to give a speech here. To protect animals, I built bird feeders in winter and rescued injured stray cats. Plants are equally important, so I joined tree-planting activities and never pick flowers in parks.
For energy saving, I always turn off lights when leaving rooms. I use reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones.

Your sincerely,
Li Hua
