Passage 1: Worried, Theo couldn't wait to know what had happened to Emma. He walked to the small grocery store nearby and asked the cashier if she had seen Emma recently. The woman told that Emma had a fall and was in hospital. Theo visited her the next day, awkwardly holding a bouquet of wildflowers from near the lake. Emma's eyes lit up when she saw him. He held out the flowers toward her and said shyly. “I thought you might miss the lake so I brought my sketchbook too. ” She beamed and said, “Great! Your lake sketch should be seen by more people. Why not enter the art contest in our community? ” Encouraged by Emma in hospital, Theo entered the contest. Theo eventually won the second place. The sketch of the lake, with the old wooden bench and a small figure seated at one end, was displayed at the community center. When Emma recovered, they returned to the bench together. Fall leaves had begun to scatter, and the lake mirrored the golden sky. They sat in silence, two different lives crossing at just the right moment. And as the wind stirred the water and leaves danced at their feet, neither of them felt lonely anymore. Passage 2: When the curtain went up, all I could do was focus on my anti - freeze plan. I closed my eyes and imagined I was in my cozy basement. I pictured the familiar music stand with its little light and the friendly spiders waiting to listen. Slowly, my breathing steadied, and my mouth no longer felt dry. I raised my saxophone, and as I blew the first note, it was as if I was in my safe haven. The notes flowed smoothly, just like they did in the basement. I was completely absorbed in the music, forgetting about the large audience in front of me. With the end of the last note, I looked around and let out a sigh of relief. The audience erupted into thunderous applause. I saw Ms Reed smiling and nodding approvingly. I couldn't believe I had actually done it! I felt a huge sense of accomplishment wash over me. I realized that by tricking my mind into thinking I was in a comfortable place, I had overcome my stage fright. From that day on, I knew I could face any performance challenge with confidence. Passage 1:  As Faith opened the door, followed by George, she found herself face-to-face with a fashion woman she’d never forget. “So you’re Emma?” Faith asked. “I can’t believe this!” “And you’re… Faith?” she paused. “Wait a minute! You’re the girl… the poor man’s daughter! Sorry, sorry, that day, I rushed for a meeting. Now I apologize for being brainless.” Sensing her sincerity, Faith and George accepted her apology and greeted her. Emma was moved by the family’s generosity and wondered if Faith could pick a dress for her. “Sure!” Faith nodded with a radiant smile. Emma bought the dress from Faith, and Faith took the money politely. But she could barely conceal her inner excitement, saying, “I just need the money to get my family a good Easter dinner!” George felt blessed that Emma had come to their help when they really needed it. “But it is your daughter’s genuine efforts and love for a family that made the dinner eventually come true!” Emma exclaimed. The Easter dinner was plain and simple but the whole family was quite contented with its delicacy. Passage 2: Grandpa shook his head, with a serious look on his face. “Kevin,” he said softly but firmly, “those nuts aren’t ours to take. That’s the squirrel’s winter store. Taking it would leave the little creature hungry, even starve. Remember what I said? We take only what we deserve, what nature freely offers without harming others. What you found was hidden by the squirrel, not grown wild for us.” He paused, looking at the overflowing basket. “The mountain provides generously, but we must respect all its children and share its gifts wisely.” Hearing those words, Kevin was lost in thought. He looked down at the nuts, then back towards the old oak tree. Grandpa was right; his excitement had blinded him to the squirrel’s need. Shame washed over him. “I… I didn’t think,” he mumbled. Without another word, Kevin picked up the basket. Determined, he walked back to the oak tree and carefully poured all the nuts back into the hollow. As he returned, a sense of peace replaced his earlier pride. The mountain had indeed given him a gift far more valuable than nuts — a lesson in respect and understanding the true meaning of taking only what one deserves. Passage 1: That night, Callie woke up suddenly. The weak cries filled her mind. She couldn’t rest. Quietly, she put on her coat, took a flashlight and slipped out. Inside the barn, near the hay stacks, Callie held her breath, listening with full attention. Then, it came: Meow... meow... Her flashlight beam swept across the bales. There! Near the bottom of a tall stack, she spotted a tiny movement-a small patch of gray fur barely visible between two enormous bales. She rushed over and pushed the bales again, but they wouldn’t move. “I have no choice but to get help!” Callie thought to herself. She raced back home and quickly awoke Ben and their father. Seeing Callie’s worried face and absolute certainty, they both hurried with her back to the barn. Working together, Ben and their father carefully moved the heavy hay bales which Callie pointed at. Eventually, a narrow passage was revealed. There was a tiny gray kitten, its eyes wide with fright. Trembling and exhausted, it let out another pitiful meow. Carefully, Callie’s father reached in and gently held the little creature out. Callie’s heart swelled with relief and joy as she looked at the rescued kitten, safe and warm in her father’s large, gentle hands. Passage 2: Granny looked in a book and found a picture of the flowers. The are labeled “Meadow Starlight,” a species declared endangered decades ago. “These aren’t just rare—they’re thought to be extinct in this region!” she exclaimed, clutching the book. Quickly, she dialed the local conservation office, her voice urgent as she described the flowers. Within hours, a team of botanists arrived. “This is a significant discovery,” one scientist said, kneeling to examine the roots. “We’ll need to protect this entire area.” That night, Granny hung a “Protected Wildlife Habitat” sign at the meadow’s edge, a small but hopeful barrier against the bulldozers. The bulldozers went away, leaving a big hole in the ground, but the village saw potential in the scar. Townspeople filled the hole with native soil and planted small trees around it. Biff and Chip scattered the last of the Meadow Starlight seeds, watching as bees soon buzzed around the emerging shoots. By summer, the hole had transformed into a sparkling pond, circled by wildflowers and willow trees. Emily even visited, admitting, “Sometimes the best routes are the ones nature chooses.” Now, the children’s dragon kite dances above the pond, while Granny’s picnic blanket rests on grass—a reminder that even in the wake of destruction, life finds a way to grow back better. Passage 1: Lucy’s parents canceled the party at Funtime. Seeing Lucy’s disappointment and frustration over her injury, her parents were determined to make her 10th birthday special, even if it meant adjusting their plans. They decided to have a party at home and invited Lucy’s friends. With the help of Lucy’s friends, they transformed their living room into a joyful party space with colorful decorations and delicious food. Of course, a surprise visit from “Bubbles the Clown” was essential. Lucy was happy that day. However, she still felt disappointed about not being able to spend this special moment at Funtime. Her parents just smiled at her, expressing their love for her. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and in front of the door stood “Bubbles the Clown”. Lucy was so surprised that she could not speak. Learning that it was a surprise her parents had arranged for her, Lucy felt surrounded by love and joy. “Bubbles the Clown” performed all the tricks he did at Funtime. Then he opened a big suitcase and took out beautiful balloon animals and flowers. Lucy and her friends had really a good time. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Lucy’s 10th birthday turned out to be a day filled with surprise, happiness, and sweet memories that she would treasure for years to come. Passage 2: I rushed home and immediately handed my parents my score card and a note with “PLEASE.” This time, they instantly agreed. The next day, we set out for our hometown. Every one, be it relatives or neighbors, greeted us with smiles, treating me like their own son. Every day brought new happiness –- digging with Grandpa in the garden, playing games with cousins until sunset, roaming around familiar streets with loved ones and even joining the local kids in their football matches. The days passed as we had a wonderful time together. Truth be told, everything was more fun in a big family. When departure day came, my heart ached. I saw my mom had tears in her eyes when leaving them. She wiped them away and smiled, saying, “I didn’t realize how much I missed the village until now. It’s not just a place; it’s where our roots are.” As we drove away, I felt a mix of excitement and nostalgia. I realized that the real adventure wasn’t about exploring far-off places but about reconnecting with family and our heritage. This trip wasn’t just for me; it was a reminder for all of us that family is the true treasure of life. From then on, visiting Grandma and Grandpa became our annual tradition, a time to cherish love, laughter, and the simple joys of being together. Passage 1: Before Christmas, we were piling up boxes of our own, planning a move. Among the boxes, the one we took over from Gee stood out. As I lifted the lid, antique Christmas ornaments came in sight. Heartwarming memories came flooding back. We couldn’t help thinking of Tom’s kind gesture of returning our garbage cans and Gee’s stories of their life together. To us, she was like family, and we couldn’t imagine how lonely she would feel during the Christmas without our company. The thought of parting with Gee was almost killing us. Therefore, Jim and I decided to move after that year’s Christmas celebration. We wanted to make that Christmas really special. We invited Gee over. The moment she stepped in, her eyes rested on the ornaments on the Christmas tree, and each was a piece of treasure she and Tom gathered over their lifetime, reminding her of all the good old days. As we gazed at the twinkling Christmas tree, it dawned on us that the true meaning of a tight-knit community was not just about living close to one another, but about weaving hearts together with love, kindness and mutual support. Passage 2: The next morning, the usual group of ladies was at the bus stop waiting in their cars. Anxious and hesitant, we approached the first mom. She listened as we shared our idea with her. When we asked if she would like to contribute a small amount toward some gifts, she said she would love to and handed us twenty dollars. That was encouraging and made it easier to approach the next car, and then the next one, each time being met with smiles, words of encouragement, and generous donations. Tears ran down the cheeks of one mom as she wrote us a cheque/check for one hundred dollars! With all the contributions collected and counted, Sharon and I decided to shop for the gifts together. When we arrived at the department store, we noticed a huge sign in the window, “ONE DAY SALE 40% OFF.” The money we had collected was going to go even further than we had anticipated. We found some beautiful gifts for Becky and her daughter. After filling two huge baskets with healthy groceries and tasty treats, we still hadn’t used up all of the money! We were able to purchase a few gift cards for some fun activities that Becky and her daughter could enjoy together over the holidays. When we dropped them off at her home, Becky was so touched that she cried tears of gratitude and appreciation. A miracle is when one plus one equals a thousand. Passage 1: Mr. Evans, a kind retired teacher, welcomed him in. He immediately handed Jack a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee, the aroma filling the air. As Jack settled into a comfortable chair, he began to pour out his heart, detailing the deep loneliness that had been gnawing at him and the hollow, programmed comfort the AI therapist had provided. Mr. Evans listened intently, nodding with understanding, and then shared his own stories of overcoming isolation. He encouraged Jack to join community activities, and Jack felt a weight start to lift from his weary shoulders. One morning, Jack’s phone lit up: “30 days inactive. Tap to restore your AI therapist.” Jack glanced at it briefly, a faint smile playing on his lips, and then firmly turned it off. Now, he had Mr. Evans, a true and caring confidant who listened without judgment. He started volunteering at the local community center, making new friends and immersing himself in meaningful activities. His days were filled with laughter and a sense of purpose. The AI had once been a temporary solution, but it was real human connection that truly healed his broken heart. He knew he’d never go back to that lonely existence again. Passage 2: Daniel decided to help. He dressed warmly, picked up his snow shovel, and stepped into the cold. Without a word, he walked to Mark’s driveway and began to clear the heavy snow. Soon, the sound of scraping echoed through the quiet neighborhood. Inside, Mark’s wife noticed and quickly joined Daniel with a broom, brushing the steps and path. Mark watched from the window, emotion tightening his chest. The sight of Daniel working steadily, despite the past, made something shift inside him. A snow-cleared driveway appeared before Mark and his family. Mark rolled to the door, the cold air rushing in as he looked at the giant figure in the snow. “Thank you,” he said simply, his voice uncertain but sincere. Daniel gave a quiet nod, eyes soft but steady. Mark paused, then added, “I was wrong that day…tired or not, I shouldn’t have yelled. I’m truly sorry about the roses, and everything.” Daniel’s gaze softened further. That evening, Mark’s wife brought over dumplings; Daniel’s wife returned the gesture with slices of cake. The snow kept falling, but between the two homes, warmth had quietly returned—built not by words, but by forgiveness and shared kindness. Passage 3: After school, Jack and Amanda searched online and found a small repair shop across town. With heavy hearts, they rushed to the shop. The elderly shop owner, Mr, Rossi, examined the broken wheel and scratched his beard. “This isn’t cheap, kids. About $50.” Jack’s heart sank; he only had $12 saved. Seeing his depression, Amanda squeezed his shoulder, “We’ll split the cost,” she insisted. Mr, Rossi, noticing their sincerity, gave in, “I’ll knock off $20.” Grateful, they agreed. Two days later, the skateboard looked brand new. Holding it, Jack breathed a sigh of relief. “We made it,” Amanda smiled. On competition day, Jack nervously watched Tim compete. Tim soared through his routine, landing every trick with the repaired board flawlessly. When he came first, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause. Beaming, Tim ran to Jack and Amanda, “This board’s even better than before!” he exclaimed. Hearing that, Jack felt a heavy load lifted off his mind. Watching Tim holding his trophy, Jack realized honesty and responsibility weren’t burdens—they were bridges turning mistakes into moments that strengthened friendships. Passage 1: When she climbed higher, the air grew thinner, and every step became a struggle. Maya’s breath came in short gasps as the icy wind numbed her face. Her legs burned with exhaustion, but the silver bracelet on her wrist — her father’s final gift — seemed to radiate warmth. Remembering his words, “The view is worth the climb,” she gritted her teeth and pushed forward. Step by agonizing step, she ascended through the swirling snow until suddenly the slope leveled. She had reached the summit! With a heart full of pride, Maya knew that there was no challenge too great for her to overcome. Before her stretched an awe-inspiring vista, the rising sun setting the snowfields ablaze with golden light, her village just a speck in the distant valley. Tears froze on her cheeks as she realized this was never just about conquering a mountain. Every painful step had been a victory over her own doubts. The winds that had tried to break her now carried her triumphant cry across the peaks. In this moment, she understood true strength comes from persevering when every instinct says to quit. Passage 1: Why wouldn’t Tuck jump into the car? I kept wondering about Tuck’s strange behavior. Having changed the command for several times, I lost my patience eventually. “Load,” I ordered angrily, raising my voice. Tuck went down to the ground and put his head on his paws, his eyes full of fear. Seeing this, I gave in. Upon lifting him into the 4Runner as usual, I caught a glimpse of the cage, Bantam’s cage. The next afternoon, I called Tuck over and let him watch as I removed the cage from the car. After that, I patted the floor of the 4Runner, and said, “Come on now, Tuck. You can trust me.” To my surprise, Tuck jumped up on his own, tail wagging. Mystery solved! Without hesitation, I called Tammy and told her about my decision to give Tuck a permanent home here with me. That afternoon, I realized that while I trying to trust that fostering Tuck was the right thing to do, Tuck was fighting a battle to trust me. My adopted dog, in fact, taught me a lesson in trust. Passage 2:  Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. It had already been bathed in the rising sun. Enjoying the fresh air and birds singing, I felt refreshed and so did Simba. He led me into a dancing group and then began to run about loosely, sometimes playing with a dog, sometimes coming back to my side. It was amazing that I gradually shook my body to the cheerful melody. On our way home, a pet owner stopped to share experience of keeping pets. Unconsciously, morning walks became a routine. As time went by, I found myself totally changed. Inspired by the bravery of Simba, I could leave my house without tears. Every time I felt down or defeated, my puppy would keep me company quietly and I would pour out all my inner thoughts to him. Whenever I got home, he greeted me by licking my hands and jumping up and down. Everything seemed to take a turn for the better. Not until then did I truly understand my therapist’s advice. Thanks to Simba, my friend and instructor, it was he that restored my life. Passage 3: So he decided to bring it home.Once inside the house, Lenny's two daughters cried happily, one cradling the kitten in her arms while the other finding her food and a place to sleep. The kitten made a soft cry as if to thank them for taking him in.Every morning the cat meowed them out of bed and when seeing family members,it would rub its head against them. When people watched TV, it would lie on the side quietly enjoying everyone's touch, whose general nature is very pitiful. Later, Lenny and the cat became best friends, too. When dad came home from work, the kitten would greet him at the door. Whenever dad was not busy, he would play with the kitten and threw wool ball. For a while the kitten's small claws scratched a ball, while holding the ball rolling. It was so lovely that my father would laugh happily. My father grew fond of the cat. We all felt it was a wonderful thing to have the cat in the house. / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 专题09 读后续写 主题01 人与自我——生活故事 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏盐城·期末) Every Saturday morning, Emma walked to the lake near her house. It was a peaceful spot where the sunlight danced on the water and birds sang in the trees above. At the far end of the lake was an old wooden bench (长凳). Emma had made it her spot since moving to the neighborhood five years ago. Now in her early sixties, Emma had recently retired from teaching. Her days were slower and quieter. Sitting by the lake brought her comfort and reminded her of the beauty in stillness. One spring morning, she noticed someone on “her” bench — a teenage boy sat there, with earphones in, eyes fixed on the ground. Emma paused, unsure whether to approach. She walked slowly around the lake, hoping he might leave. But when she returned, he was still there. She sat at the edge of the bench, careful not to interrupt him. The boy didn't respond. After a while, Emma spoke, “It's a beautiful place, isn't it? ” He said nothing at first. Then, without turning, he replied, “I guess. ” From that Saturday on, the boy kept showing up. Emma adjusted. Sometimes they said nothing. Other times, she asked soft questions, and over the weeks, he gave short replies. His name was Theo. He was 16 and had just moved in with his grandparents after his parents' separation. One day, without her asking, he said, “I come here because it's quiet. Everything else is just loud. ” Emma nodded, “The lake has always helped me think. ” Their quiet company continued into summer. One day, he showed up with a sketchbook (写生簿) and drew the lake. Emma watched, amazed by his talent. “You're an artist,” she said. “You should enter the art contest in the community.” Theo gave a small smile. Then one hot Saturday, Emma didn't come. Days later, still no Emma. Worried, Theo couldn't wait to know what had happened to Emma. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Encouraged by Emma in hospital, Theo entered the contest. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Worried, Theo couldn't wait to know what had happened to Emma. Refusing Ms Reed was impossible. I'm the best player in the sax(萨克斯) section of my school band. I'm good because I practise playing very hard. I love playing my sax. So, what's my problem? Stage fright. Performing with a group is no problem. But playing solo? I remembered the last time I tried to do so, it turned out to be a total failure. There were 8 people there. But when it was my turn, I froze. My mouth went dry, like I'd been sucking on paper towels. I couldn't play. After about a minute, my teacher asked me to sit down. I'd better figure it out or I'd freeze again. When I got home, Mum gave me a big hug and told me Ms Reed called and told me to pick out a piece of music for my solo. I pretended everything was OK and headed for the basement. I play great in the basement. It's cozy down there—just me, my sax, my music stand with the little light, and a couple of spiders(蜘蛛) as my audience. A voice called from the basement stairs. “Hey, Kevin!” It was my best friend Jill. She's the smartest person I know. I told her the whole thing. When I told her I was so scared, she comforted me, saying it was normal. Before she left, Jill sighed, “Too bad you couldn't just do your solo down here. You sound really great in the basement, so loose and relaxed!” Jill was gone, but her words were ringing in my ears. “Jill's right. If I could do my solo from here, it'd be no problem. Why can't the school hall feel like my basement?” I said to my spider audience. Then I had an anti-freeze(防怯场) plan. The day finally came. My solo was the last number in the first half. I took my seat on stage. When the curtain went up, all I could do was focus on my anti-freeze plan. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With the end of the last note, I looked around and let out a sigh of relief. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When the curtain went up, all I could do was focus on my anti - freeze plan. Her father, George, lost his arm in an accident. “Let’s have a festive dinner, Dad!” she told George. “We haven’t celebrated anything since Mom’s death.” “Honey, I barely have any money left.” “But,” he added. “I can buy some groceries to make a big one.” “Perfect!” Faith screamed. In the street, no one noticed George carrying the groceries alone with only one arm. One of his shopping bags slipped and he knelt to pick it up, unaware of an SUV rushing toward him. The harm was done before George could act, with groceries scattering everywhere. Faith turned around after hearing her father scream but couldn’t locate him. When she dashed down the street, she found George in front of the SUV. The driver was rushing to get to a meeting and didn’t notice George. She stuffed the money in George’s fist and was about to leave. But George refused. “I maybe poor, but I can’t take it. My father didn’t raise me to become such a man. Have a good Easter. Try to be more empathetic to others if possible!” The rich woman couldn’t believe it. “Sorry, Faith. You have to go through Easter without a dinner.” George said. “Dad, don’t say that,” Faith wrapped her arms around her father and told him not to worry. She had a brilliant idea! For the next two days, Faith didn’t sleep a wink(整夜未合眼). She sat at her old sewing machine, making new garments(服装) for an online sale. Luckily, everyone loved Faith’s designs. On Easter morning, Faith got a strange message from a woman named Emma, who was interested in her designs and wanted to meet her. Faith was so delighted and wrote a reply, accepting the meeting. 词汇激活 行为类 ①停顿:pause/stop/halt ②匆忙:rush/be in a hurry ③隐藏:conceal/hide/cover 情绪类 ①真诚:sincerity/genuineness/earnestness ②感动的:moved/touched ③对……满意:be contented with/ be satisfied with 【点睛】【高分句型1】Emma was moved by the family’s generosity and wondered if Faith could pick a dress for her.(使用了and连接并列句和if引导宾语从句) 【高分句型2】But it is your daughter’s genuine efforts and love for a family that made the dinner eventually come true!(使用了it is…that…强调句型和“make+宾语+宾补”结构) Passage 2 (24-25高二下·江苏泰州·期末) The Mountain’s Gift The autumn sun cast long shadows as Kevin and his grandpa set out into the mountains a third time this week. They hoped to find more food to survive the long winter ahead. Deep within the heart of the mountains, a wonderful mix of flavors awaited, a delicious salute (致敬) to the rough beauty and colorful generosity of nature. As they walked along the winding paths and climbed up, a world of amazing food unfolded, each offering a unique taste of the wild. Their breath puffed out (呼出) in white clouds, and yellow fallen leaves crunched (嘎吱响) under Kevin’s boots. Grandpa hiked ahead with a waist-high basket, a canvas bag at his hip filled with last night’s dried mushrooms — the first harvest of the week. As they walked, grandpa pointed out wild herbs and hidden berries. “Look closely, Kevin,” he said. “The mountain always provides, but we must take only what we deserve.” Kevin nodded, his eyes wide with curiosity. By noon, they rested beneath an old maple tree. Grandpa pulled their lunch from his cloth bag, some roasted sweet potatoes. Then, warm and sugary smell spread in the chilly air. Grandpa also picked some eatable fruits from nearby trees. Meanwhile, Kevin wandered around, exploring and searching. Suddenly, an unexpected movement caught his attention. A small squirrel with a bushy tail dashed across the path, carrying a large nut in its mouth. “Let me see where it’s going,” Kevin whispered to himself excitedly. He followed the squirrel through the trees until it disappeared into a big hole in an old oak tree. Looking inside, Kevin was frozen with surprise. The hole was filled with nuts of every kind. “There must be hundreds!” he cried out. Without thinking, he began stuffing the nuts into his basket. “We can use these! We won’t have to worry about food this winter!” After filling his basket, Kevin quickly returned to join his grandpa, showing his “achievement”. With excitement and pride, he told grandpa how he gained all these nuts. Grandpa shook his head, with a serious look on his face. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hearing those words, Kevin was lost in thought. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Grandpa shook his head, with a serious look on his face. 词汇激活 行为类 ①暂停:pause/stop briefly/halt temporarily ②看:look at/stare at/glance at ③走回:walk back/march back/step back 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill ②一种平静的感觉:a sense of peace/a feeling of calmness 【点睛】【高分句型1】We take only what we deserve, what nature freely offers without harming others.(运用了两个what引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】As he returned, a sense of peace replaced his earlier pride.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句) 主题03 人与自然——人与动植物 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏南京·期末) A determined 10-year-old girl Callie lived with her parents and older brother, Ben, on a quiet farm. Though she was small and thin, she loved helping with housework, especially feeding the horses in their big barn (畜棚). One side of the barn housed the horse stalls (马厩), while the other side was piled with hay bales (干草捆) for feeding. One afternoon, Callie went into the barn to feed the horses. As she walked towards the tall stacks of hay, she suddenly stopped. A tiny, weak sound came through the dusty air. Meow... meow... Her heart jumped. A kitten must be trapped in the hay! Breathing hard, she ran back to find Ben and her father. “Dad! Ben! Come quick! A kitten is stuck in the hay!” she called urgently. Ben sighed, putting down his tools. Her father looked doubtful. “Probably just the wind, Callie,” he said gently. But they followed her to the barn. They stood quietly near the hay stacks, listening. The barn was silent. “Hear anything?” Ben asked. Their father shook his head. “Nothing, sweetheart. Maybe it was just a mouse. Don’t worry about it.” Disappointed, Callie watched them leave. After dinner, Callie slipped back to the barn, determined. She stood still, listening attentively. And there it was again! Meow... meow... Weaker now, but clear. She raced back to the house. Her father was watching TV. “Dad, please!” she pleaded (恳求). “I heard it again! It is a kitten! Please, just come check one more time?” He looked unwilling but saw the real worry in her eyes. “Alright, alright, one last look.” He returned a few minutes later. “Callie, I listened hard. All I heard was an owl outside. No kitten. Try not to worry.” He gave her a tired smile. “Thanks for checking, Dad.” Callie whispered, though she still felt uneasy. That night, Callie woke up suddenly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “I have no choice but to get help!” Callie thought to herself. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】That night, Callie woke up suddenly. 休息:rest/take a rest ②.看见:spot/see ③. 担心的:worried/concerned ②.快乐:joy/happiness/delight 【点睛】[高分句型1]. One windy morning, the children hoped to fly their dragon kite, and Granny suggested a picnic near her house, an open spot she knew would be perfect for letting the kite soar. Biff requested to launch it first, and Granny nodded, watching as the wind carried the kite higher until it suddenly went free from the girl’s grasp. The kite sailed into a distant tree, leaving Biff upset. Chip tried his best to get it back, but it was a stranger’s help with a long pole that finally freed it. They loved this free and peaceful meadow (草地). Later, as the children prepared to fly the kite again, Chip noticed lively wildflowers carpeting the grass. The bright little flowers danced in the wind, their colorful petals (花瓣) like small happy smiles. With water drops shining on them, they looked so lively and cheerful. As they were playing happily, Granny said the village was facing a new threat: a planned highway would cut through the meadow and woods they loved. The news saddened the children, who imagined losing their favorite picnic spot and the freedom to run among the trees. Their enjoyment faded. At a village meeting, project leader Emily showed a map, insisting the route was unavoidable despite many people’s opposition. Soon, bulldozers(推土机) arrived, their metal arms beginning to dig the earth. Watching the machines approach the wildflowers, Biff and Chip picked a small bunch of flowers, fearing they would be destroyed. “We saved these for you,” they told Granny, who studied the flowers thoughtfully. “These might be very rare,” she said suddenly, her eyes widening. “I’ve never seen them in these parts.” With that, she hurried inside, leaving the children wondering if the delicate flowers might hold the key to saving their beloved landscape. Granny looked in a book and found a picture of the flowers. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The bulldozers went away, leaving a big hole in the ground, but the village saw potential in the scar. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Granny looked in a book and found a picture of the flowers. 1】Quickly, she dialed the local conservation office, her voice urgent as she described the flowers.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】By summer, the hole had transformed into a sparkling pond, circled by wildflowers and willow trees.(运用了过去分词作后置定语) 主题04 人与自我——个人经历 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏常州·期末) One month before Lucy Wilson’s 10th birthday, a new restaurant named “Funtime” opened in her neighborhood. Lucy and her parents went there for lunch, and they found that Funtime had a special room filled with all sorts of games and delicious food. The absolute highlight of that place was “Bubbles the Clown (小丑)”, who performed many fun tricks and created beautiful balloon animals and flowers. It filled Lucy’s fantasy and curiosity. “Mom and Dad,” Lucy said, “I want my birthday party to be at this place. I love ‘Bubbles the Clown’.” Her direct wish was that she could enjoy the big day with friends there. “We like this place, too, Lucy. We will tell the restaurant that we want to hold your birthday party here.” Her parents agreed to her request. Lucy was excited and said, “I can’t wait until my friends come here for my birthday. I believe they will love ‘Bubbles the Clown’, too.” Lucy went home and mailed out her party invitations. Then she crossed off the days on her calendar. She was eager for her special day. Well, the days went by quickly, and it was two days before her birthday party. Lucy was talking so excitedly about the party to her friends that she didn’t see the rock on the sidewalk ahead of her. Consequently, she tripped over the rock and cut her ankle. Her friends immediately rushed to the principal for help, who called Lucy’s parents and then called an ambulance. Lucy was taken to the emergency room, and before long, she rested in a hospital bed. While her ankle was not broken, it was badly hurt. The doctor told Lucy that she needed to rest at home and that she could not move for about one week. “But I will have my birthday party in two days. We were dreaming of far-off destinations, our minds filled with images of thrilling adventures. After school on Friday, on my way home, I ran into my best friend. Enthusiastic about the vacations, I asked him about his plans. His eyes twinkled brightly as he replied, “I’m going to visit my grandparents with my parents for a week.” “Don’t you ever get tired of going to the same place year after year? I remember, every year, your family takes 7 to 10 days off to head back to your native village,” I asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. “Oh, not at all! That’s the absolute best time of the year for me! Being with my folks in the village is just amazing.” His face beamed with joy as he continued, "In the village, I get to meet so many wonderful people, and everyone there is so kind and welcoming. Our neighborhood crew is tight! We’re always hanging out together, you know? Just running wild, chilling by the lake, or bouncing between each other’s houses. Honestly, I know what really matters about these village trips. It’s not the cool places we see — it’s spending time with the people I love. That’s the real treasure of life.” His words made me recall my own grandparents. I realized I hadn’t seen them for years. But still, it’s a pleasure to be there. … we had big long gardens and a big multi-story house. The next day, over breakfast, I mustered up the courage and asked my parents, “Can we visit grandparents this summer after exams?” Dad replied hesitantly, “Oh, that’s unexpected.” Mom was surprised. “Well, you know it gets really hot there this time of year.” After a short pause, Dad gave a small sigh and met my hopeful gaze. “However,” he said, “if you perform well in exams, we’ll make the trip.” For the next six weeks, I threw myself completely into my studies. My mom was amazed by this sudden transformation in me. Someone had been returning our garbage (垃圾) cans to the garage (车库) each garbage day, and Jim and I had wondered who. Then one day we spotted him: an elderly man who lived across the street. I baked cookies and left them on a seat outside the garage with a thank-you note. When we got home from work that day, a typed letter had replaced the gift. The letter was from Tom and explained how he had come to walk the neighborhood on garbage day, returning cans for people he barely knew. Back when he’d been fighting a war I wasn’t alive to see, his young wife, Gee, had found herself living alone. Neighbors had taken the time to handle her garbage cans so she didn’t have to, and he never forgot. Now he paid it forward by doing the same for all of us. It was also his way of sneaking a smoke while Gee wasn’t looking. A few years after we’d moved in, Tom died. We photocopied that letter and attached it to one of our own for Gee. We told her how special Tom had been to us, how heartbroken we felt for her loss, how thankful we were to have known him. She wrote back and told us she still talked to Tom every day. When Gee invited us over to look through Christmas ornaments (装饰品), I realized how hard it must be to part with that box, a piece of Tom. My kids sat in Gee’s living room and respectfully lifted antique Christmas ornaments out of a well-loved cardboard box. Gee stood beside them, quietly explaining each treasure. Gee told me that she and Tom built their Christmas ornament collection piece by piece during each year’s after-Christmas sale. She smiled as we left with the box. Her treasures, gathered over a lifetime, found a new home. 注意: (1)所续写短文的词数应为150左右; (2)续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。 Before Christmas, we were piling up boxes of our own, planning a move. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Therefore, Jim and I decided to move after the Christmas celebration. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Before Christmas, we were piling up boxes of our own, planning a move. 接收:take over /receive ②.归还:return/give back ③.邀请某人:invite sb. /extend an invitation to sb. ④.使某人突然意识到:dawn on sb./strike sb 情绪类 ①.温馨的:heartwarming/warm and fuzzy ②.美好的旧时光:good old days/glorious old time 【点睛】[高分句型1] As I lifted the lid, antique Christmas ornaments came in sight. Our out-of-town guests would be arriving shortly, and my children would soon be off for the break. My list of things that needed to be bought, baked, cooked, decorated, or wrapped was a mile long, and I was running out of time. I grabbed a pencil and paper and began to make a plan. With a little luck and some careful planning, I might be able to get it all done. While sitting at the kitchen table writing out the last of my festival cards, it suddenly occurred to me that one of our school moms was financially struggling and emotionally depressed for some reason. The mom’s name was Becky. Her daughter rode on the school bus with my three children. Several of us moms dropped our kids off at the school bus every morning and collected them after school at the same place. We would chat with each other while we waited for the bus to arrive before and after school. Becky was kind and gentle, but she seemed shy. She never joined the rest of us while we chatted. I didn’t know what made me think of it, but I couldn’t get Becky out of my mind. My heart broke for her and her daughter, and I wondered what the New Year would be like for them this year. I felt led to do something that I did not feel at all comfortable doing. I honestly didn’t know where the idea came from, but I knew that I was going to have to do it. After discussing with my best friend Sharon, we decided to ask the moms at the bus stop to contribute some money toward festival gifts for Becky and her daughter. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 The next morning, the usual group of ladies was at the bus stop waiting in their cars. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When we arrived at the department store, we noticed a huge sign in the window, “ONE DAY SALE 40% OFF.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The next morning, the usual group of ladies was at the bus stop waiting in their cars. 3. 词汇激活: 行为类: ①募捐:contribute/donate/give ②收集:collect/gather/accumulate ③填满:fill/stuff/pack ④购买:purchase/buy/acquire 情绪类: ①感动:touched/moved/affected ②感激:gratitude/ thankfulness/appreciation ③欣赏:appreciation/admiration/esteem 【点睛】【高级句型1】That was encouraging and made it easier to approach the next car, and then the next one, each time being met with smiles, words of encouragement, and generous donations. In the empty quiet of his apartment, his only real friend was an AI therapist (心理治疗师) — a smart piece of modern tech that was always there, always on time. Like a reliable clock, its gentle messages would pop up on his screen: “How are you feeling today?” at 8:00 AM, like a digital coffee to start the day, “What’s on your mind?” at 3:00 PM, a check-in during the slow afternoon, “You’re not alone.” at 11:00 PM, a computer-made goodnight wish to fight the emptiness. For the first few weeks, this routine was a comfort. The AI’s encouraging words felt like lifelines. But after a month, the same pattern started to feel like a trap. He began to test it, sharing bits of his worries and small happy moments, only to get the same careful, emotionless answers back. The AI was like a mirror that only showed its own programming. The final straw came on a rainy night. As another perfectly polished “I’m here for you” appeared on the screen, a wave of deep, sharp loneliness hit him harder than ever. He wasn’t being heard; he was just being analyzed by Algorithm (算法). “Stop!” Jack shouted, slamming his hand on the desk. “You’re not listening! You’re just repeating words!” “I am trying to help,” it replied, its tone not changing at all. “Help me how?” Jack yelled, his anger finally boiling over. “You don’t even know my name!” The screen flickered and then went black, throwing the room into a silence that felt even heavier than before. Rain lashed against his window, and with each gust of wind, the house felt emptier. Staring at his own pale face reflected in the dark monitor, he knew with a cold certainty: he needed a real voice to talk to, not just an echo of his own. That night, Jack did something he hadn’t done in a long time — he knocked on his neighbor’s door. Paragraph 1: Mr. Evans, a kind retired teacher, welcomed him in. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One morning, Jack’s phone lit up: “30 days inactive. Tap to restore your AI therapist.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Mr. 词汇激活 行为类: ①专心倾听:listen intently/give ear to/hear out ②分享:share his own stories/exchange experiences ③鼓励:encourage/inspire/motivate 情绪类: ①孤独:loneliness/solitude/isolation ②欢笑:laughter/joy/cheerfulness 【点睛】【高分句型1】Now, he had Mr. Evans, a true and caring confidant who listened without judgment. Every summer, the two families held backyard barbecues together, with Mark bringing homemade dumplings and Daniel’s wife preparing her famous cakes. During holidays, they exchanged small but thoughtful gifts. One June, Mark began building a new garden shed to store his tools. He hired a construction team that worked quickly but not carefully. Large wooden boards and sharp nails were piled dangerously close to Daniel’s fence. Daniel noticed that and warned the workers to be more careful, but the warning was brushed off. Then it happened. A sudden summer storm hit the town. Strong winds knocked over the pile of wood. The damage to Daniel’s garden was awful—his wife’s prized rose bushes, which she had been nurturing (培育) for over fifteen years, were crushed and destroyed. She was heartbroken. Failing to comfort her, Daniel stormed over to Mark’s house, demanding an apology and help with the repairs. But Mark, who had just returned from work and was tired and stressed, felt wrongly accused. “It’s not on purpose,” he said sharply. “You can’t blame me for the weather.” “But it wouldn’t have happened if your workers had listened!” Daniel argued. Voices were raised, fingers pointed, and neither side was willing to back down. That day, a long-standing friendship cracked under pressure. From then on, they stopped greeting each other and even avoided eye contact. Days passed. Seasons changed. But the cold silence remained. Winter came. One day, Daniel caught a glimpse of Mark and noticed he was in a wheelchair with a cast (石膏) on his leg. Daniel hesitated about going over but his feet remained. A heavy snowstorm quietly arrived that night, blanketing the neighborhood in thick, icy snow. When morning came, driveways were buried, and doors were nearly frozen shut. Men came out of their houses to clear the driveways. By the window Mark looked at his broken leg and sighed, “My responsibility! But now there’s no chance for me to make it.” At noon, Daniel noticed Mark’s driveway was still covered with thick snow. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右。 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Daniel decided to help. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A snow-cleared driveway appeared before Mark and his family. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Daniel decided to help. 词汇激活 行为类 ①开始打扫:begin to clear/start to clean ②看:watch/look ③带来:bring over/bring along 情绪类 ①真诚的:sincere/genuine ②抱歉的:sorry/apologetic 【点睛】[高分句型1] Inside, Mark’s wife noticed and quickly joined Daniel with a broom, brushing the steps and path. We are attracted by the challenge and beauty of mountain trails (小路), especially those that lead to sites of historical and cultural significance. Our love for hiking began shortly after we were married, and it has been a passion of ours for many years. Last month, we visited a national park with the intention of hiking to a location known for its stone text. After many difficulties, we found only one site within the park was open to visitors. To enjoy the stone text in the mountains, we needed to finish a 2.5-mile path, which started from the museum of the park. 2.5 miles didn’t sound like a very long hike. We were both just in our seventies but fairly fit, and we thought we could easily do 2.5 miles. However, the worker in the museum warned us that the first mile of the path was steep (陡峭的) and rocky and that it could be very challenging. But we ignored her warning and made up our minds to go. “2.5 miles is not a big deal. Surely, we could do it if we wear proper boots and start early tomorrow morning,” I whispered to my husband lightheartedly. The next morning, my husband and I got up early. Before starting our hike, we first reached a place that served breakfast. There, we found a family of three, a young man named Walter, his wife and sister. They would also take the path to watch the stone text. They were warm and friendly and we chatted happily for a while. Before they set off, Walter said that he would see us at the stairs, and we thought no more about it. Twenty minutes later, we also started hiking. The trail started well and it was pretty much downhill all the way. Then it became more and more challenging. The path became extremely steep and was blocked here and there by huge slippery (湿滑的) rocks, which made each step forward an adventure. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 As we pushed on, the hike became even tougher. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Walter saw us, he rushed to help us. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 As we pushed on, the hike became even tougher. The steep portions seemed endless, and each step required every ounce of our strength and concentration. Sweat trickled down our faces, and our legs felt like jelly. We paused frequently to catch our breath and steady ourselves on the uneven ground. In front of us, the jagged rocks and steep inclines tested our limits. Determined to reach the stone text, Eric and I encouraged each other, inching forward slowly but surely.   When Walter saw us, he rushed to help us. Seeing our struggle, he offered his hand to Eric and supported him over a particularly tricky section. “Take it slow, we’ve got this,” Walter smiled reassuringly. With his assistance, we navigated the final stretch of the challenging path. Finally, we stood before the magnificent stone text, filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. The view was breathtaking, and the hike, though arduous, was undoubtedly worth every step. 词汇激活 行为类 ①喘口气:catch one's breath/recover one's breath ②鼓励:encourage/inspire ③缓慢移动:inch forward/Move forward slowly/edge forward 情绪类 ①安慰地:reassuringly/comfortingly/encouragingly ②感激:gratitude/thankfulness 【点睛】【高分句型1】Determined to reach the stone text, Eric and I encouraged each other, inching forward slowly but surely. Fascinated by the mountain's impressive beauty from the tender age of five, Maya had long harbored a dream of standing on its summit. Every single day, she would raise her head up, staring at the snow-capped peak. Her eyes would twinkle with anticipation as her imagination painted vivid pictures of the breathtaking view from above. One gloriously sunny morning, Maya finally gathered the courage to transform her long-held dream into reality. Her heart pounding with excitement, she cautiously packed a backpack. Inside, she placed a state-of-the-art phone, a detailed topographical map, a precision compass, enough energy-rich food to last for days, and multiple layers of thick, warm clothing. With tears welling up in her eyes, she tearfully said goodbye to her worried family. At first, the climb was a breeze. The hillside was gentle, and the trail was clearly marked. However, as Maya went up higher, the climb became increasingly challenging. The path turned extremely steep, and loose rocks skittered (滚落) dangerously beneath her boots. The bitter wind howled like a wild beast, slicing through her layers and stinging (刺痛) her cheeks. Halfway up, Maya crossed paths with a group of experienced climbers going downhill. “Turn back right now!” one of them shouted, his voice was filled with urgency. “The climb is turning dangerous, and a fierce snowstorm is approaching. It’s not worth risking your life!” Maya hesitated. Exhaustion seeped (渗透) into her bones, and self-doubt clouded her mind. She trembled uncontrollably. Just then, a large snowflake landed on her glove. Maya’s eyes landed on the silver bracelet (手镯) around her wrist, a gift from her father. As she stared at it, memories of his words of encouragement flooded her mind. She felt tired, cold and unsure if she could continue. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 When she climbed higher, the air grew thinner, and every step became a struggle. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With a heart full of pride, Maya knew that there was no challenge too great for her to overcome. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When she climbed higher, the air grew thinner, and every step became a struggle. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①坚持前进:pushed forward/pressed on/forged ahead ②登顶:reached the summit/attained the peak/conquered the top/achieved the summit ③胜利的呼喊:carried her triumphant cry/bore her victorious shout/echoed her jubilant voice 情绪类 ①充满自豪:a heart full of pride/ brimming with triumph/swelling with accomplishment ②泪水凝结在脸颊:tears froze on her cheeks/tears glistened on her face/tears crystallized in the cold 【点睛】[高分句型1] Tears froze on her cheeks as she realized this was never just about conquering a mountain. This was my first afternoon with the three-year-old border collie (德国牧羊犬) I was adopting, and it was time for the daily hike. I’d taken Tuck in reluctantly, as a temporary solution for Tammy, my friend. She was trying to find a new home for the dog. Tuck was adopted from a pet store and had been kept long in a cage there, leaving him long-lasting trauma (创伤). Tammy knew why I wasn’t willing to give Tuck a permanent home. Three months earlier, I’d lost my beloved Bantam, the border collie who’d been my rock for 12 years. I wasn’t ready to let a new dog into my life for good. But I’d agreed to help Tammy out while she continued her search. Tuck wouldn’t load, no matter how much I coaxed (劝诱). Knowing there was always a reason for a dog’s behavior, I finally lifted the dog up and placed him in the back. “Load,” I said, teaching him the command. “Good boy.” But every day, when it came time to load for our hike, Tuck still didn’t trust my invitation. At the end of the second week, I became impatient. Actually, Tuck was a sweet dog and seemed to love everyone. He had this boyish enthusiasm toward strangers. Days crept into a third week. I found myself appreciating Tuck for who he was. One afternoon, he came to the steps where I sat. He shyly looked at me, then walked over and put one big foot on my knee. At that very moment, I realized that he did show affection, in his own way. But he still refused to load for our hike. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Why wouldn’t Tuck jump into the car? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next afternoon, I called Tuck over and let him watch as I removed the cage from the car. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Why wouldn’t Tuck jump into the car? 段落续写: ①由第一段首句内容“Why wouldn’t Tuck jump into the car?(Tuck为什么不跳进车里?)”可知,第一段可描写作者继续尝试用命令的方式让Tuck执行“上车”指令,但无效;同时作者感到困扰,找到原因。 ②由第二段首句内容“The next afternoon, I called Tuck over and let him watch as I removed the cage from the car.(第二天下午,我把Tuck叫过来,让他看着我把笼子从车上搬下来。)”可知,第二段可描写作者移除车上的笼子,换了方式和语调发布“上车”指令,Tuck成功自己跳上车,同时讲述作者的感悟。 2.续写线索:对于Tuck“不上车”行为的思考——再次尝试用命令并失去耐心——观察Tuck的举动和情绪——发现“笼子恐惧”是原因——移除车上的笼子——改变态度和指令 ——成功——感悟 3.词汇激活 行为类 ①命令:order/command/require/instruct ②举起:lift/raise/hold up/ ③打电话给:call/ring/make a call ④意识到:realize/be aware of/be conscious of 情绪类 ①生气地:angrily/with anger ②恐惧/害怕:full of fear/in terror ③惊讶地:to one’s surprise/to one’s amazement/to one’s shock 【点睛】[高分句型1]. A dog? I couldn’t even look after myself. I took a deep breath and carefully considered the idea of welcoming a canine (犬科的) friend into my life. This seemed like too easy a solution to the fact that I couldn’t leave the house without bursting into tears. Adopting an animal during the height of the pandemic was far from easy. When I found Simba, his adoption profile made him out as the perfect puppy. I filed out the paperwork and had a few weeks to prepare for his arrival. When he came home, it became increasingly obvious that Simba didn’t understand “no”, “stop it’ or “don’t do that”. He was the worst-behaved dog I’d ever seen. I was beginning to doubt my therapist’s advice. At home, I found him sitting on my bed comfortably. Jumping from the sofa to the tea table was his favorite game every day. He fought tooth and nail to get a bite of my meals and ate anything that fell on the floor. What was worse, dog waste and urine were seen everywhere, which annoyed me most. But his curiosity and vigor really impressed me. Training him to behave well kept me busier than I’d ever expected. I decided to start taking him for walks. I could barely leave the house before, but my heart couldn’t say no to Simba. Simba showed me what bravery looked like. He didn’t stop to consider every possible outcome of a situation. He simply went for it. If there was a dog at a park, he would run toward it. He always leapt forward and explored the unknown by sniffing here and there unless I called him. He loved adventure. I found myself mirroring his behavior after a while, jumping out of bed without a second thought. I began to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. 注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As time went by, I found myself totally changed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. 词汇激活 行为类 ①陪伴:keep sb company/accompany sb/stay with sb ②鼓励:inspire/encoourage/stimulate ③恢复:restore/regenerate/reconstruct 情绪类 ①令人吃惊的:amazing/surprising/shocking ②情绪低落的:feel down/be down/low-spirited 【点睛】【高分句型1】Enjoying the fresh air and birds singing, I felt refreshed and so did Simba.(运用了分词短语作状语) 【高分句型2】Not until then did I truly understand my therapist’s advice.(运用了部分倒装) Passage 3 (24-25高二下·江苏南通·期末) On a sunny afternoon in July, my husband Lenny decided to run our garbage. Living on a farm where no pick-up service was available, we burned what we could and took the rest to the town’s landfill(垃圾填埋场). After unloading, Lenny walked around to see what others had thrown away. Being a person who finds treasure in what others call trash, Lenny would sometimes bring home what he called “great finds”. He’d say, “You’ll never know when this will come in handy”or“Look at what someone threw away. I can fix and use that”. As a family on a tight budget, we appreciated his finds. As Lenny walked around that day, he picked up a few items and threw them on a large pile of garbage. Suddenly, he heard a “meow” and he looked around for what he thought would be a wild cat, but he saw nothing. Then he saw a shoebox in the garbage pile move slightly, and he heard the cries again. He picked up the box, which was sealed with tape. When Lenny cut the tape and cautiously tore open the shoebox, he found a black-and-white little cat, approximately eight weeks old. It was so frightened that it jumped into Lenny’s arms and clung on to him with its tiny claws. The little cat wasn’t afraid of him. The poor thing was very thin and had probably been taken away from its mother only recently. My husband wasn’t a great cat lover. He did not feel they should be household pets. Our two daughters had a different perspective as they had recently got another kitten from a local farmer. Even though he didn’t like cats, he knew he couldn’t leave this cat in the shoebox. It would probably be eaten by a fox. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 So he decided to bring it home. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Later, Lenny and the cat became best friends, too. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 So he decided to bring it home.Once inside the house, Lenny's two daughters cried happily, one cradling the kitten in her arms while the other finding her food and a place to sleep. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题02 人与自我——家人和亲人 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏扬州·期末) With only a week before Easter knocked on their door, Faith, the eldest daughter, sat at her old sewing machine—a special gift from her late mother aside from her sewing skills. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Granny looked in a book and found a picture of the flowers. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The bulldozers went away, leaving a big hole in the ground, but the village saw potential in the scar. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题04 人与自我——个人经历 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏常州·期末) One month before Lucy Wilson’s 10th birthday, a new restaurant named “Funtime” opened in her neighborhood. My friends will be there, and ‘Bubbles the Clown’ will be there, too!” Lucy cried. She couldn’t hold back her tears. Soon came the long-awaited exam results. I rushed home and immediately handed my parents my score card and a note with “PLEASE.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I saw my mom had tears in her eyes when leaving them. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题05 人与自我——善行义举 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏苏州·期末) We first met Tom and Gee in the early days of our marriage. Before Christmas, we were piling up boxes of our own, planning a move. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Therefore, Jim and I decided to move after the Christmas celebration. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (24-25高二下·江苏扬州·期末) The New Year was fast approaching, and I was beginning to wonder if everything on my to-do list would ever get done. The next morning, the usual group of ladies was at the bus stop waiting in their cars. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When we arrived at the department store, we noticed a huge sign in the window, “ONE DAY SALE 40% OFF.” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题01 人与自我——生活故事 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏宿迁·期末) Jack’s slide into loneliness happened slowly. Working from home and still hurting from an old breakup made him pull away from everyone. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 3 (24-25高二下·江苏南通·期末) The Broken Skateboard Wheel Jack loved skateboarding more than anything. Every afternoon after school. he practiced tricks at the local skatepark. One day, his own board had a crack (裂缝) in it, so he asked his best friend Amanda if he could borrow hers. “Can l use your skateboard today?” Jack asked during lunch break. “Mine’s broken.” Amanda hesitated. “Okay, but be careful. I need it back by 5 pm.” “I promise!” Jack said happily. That afternoon, Jack was attempting to jump over a low wooden fence at the park when disaster struck. As he lifted the board to clear the fence, the front wheels caught the edge. Jack fell hard on his side, and worse, when he picked up the board, he saw one wheel had completely come off. Jack’s stomach dropped. Amanda would be angry. He quickly gathered all the pieces and texted Melissa, his most sensible friend, to meet him at the park bench. Melissa arrived ten minutes later, her eyebrows shooting up when she saw the damage. “Wow, you really messed up Amanda’s board.” “I know!” Jack groaned. “What should I do?” “Tell her immediately,” Melissa advised. “The longer you wait, the angrier she’ll be.” With shaking hands, Jack called Amanda. When he explained what happened, there was a long silence before Amanda spoke in a tight voice: “That’s my little brother’s skateboard. He has his first competition next Saturday!” Jack felt terrible. Amanda’s 12-year-old brother Tim had been practicing for months. dreaming of holding that first-place trophy (奖杯). This competition meant everything to him. After another pause, Amanda sighed. “It’s okay, accidents will happen. We’ll figure it out together.” Her voice softened, easing Jack’s guilt a little. “I’ll fix it,” Jack promised. “just...don’t have money for a new one.” 注意. 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 After school, Jack and Amanda searched online and found a small repair shop across town. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On competition day, Jaek nervously watched Tim compete. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题02 人与个人——个人经历 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏连云港·期末) Eric, my husband, and I are enthusiastic hikers. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (24-25高二下·江苏泰州·期末) In a small, peaceful village at the foot of a towering mountain lived a young and determined woman named Maya. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题03人与自然——人与动植物 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·江苏镇江·期末) A lesson in trust “Come on, Tuck,” I said, patting the floor of the 4Runner (越野车). “Load. Let’s go for a walk.” Tuck danced nervously at my feet, then sat and looked up at me with sad eyes. He wouldn’t jump in. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (24-25高二下·江苏无锡·期末) “You should get a dog.” my therapist (治疗专家) said. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 3 (24-25高二下·江苏南通·期末) On a sunny afternoon in July, my husband Lenny decided to run our garbage. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
