The uneasy feeling in Emma’s chest turned into panic. She called his name loudly, but only the echo of the empty house replied. She searched the balcony, the garden, and the first-floor rooms, her heart sinking with each empty corner. The once-grand house now felt like a maze, its shadows stretching menacingly. She thought of her harsh words and felt a sharp guilt — what if something happened to him? The sound of waves crashing outside made her more anxious. She ran up the stairs, checking every room, when a faint whimper from the stairs caught her ear. Paragraph 2 In the shadowed corner under the stairs, James was curled up asleep, looking small and harmless. A tear-stained handkerchief lay beside him, and Emma’s book was tucked under his arm. She knelt down gently, her throat tight. She brushed the hair from his forehead, remembering how he’d always followed her like a little shadow. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. James stirred, his eyes opening sleepily. “You didn’t mean you hate me, right?” he mumbled. Emma shook her head, picking him up. “Let’s build that castle,” she said. As they walked to the shore, the salt wind carried away her regret, leaving only warmth. ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2025-2026学年高一下学期期末模拟卷02(人教版) 英 语 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? B In early 2021, I hit a rut in my studies. As a doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago in Illinois, I worked to design safer, more effective materials for vaccine delivery. Although I had been productive early in my graduate career, my long hours and hard work were no longer translating into success in the laboratory, and I felt hopeless about achieving my goals. Something had to change. As I began to search for the cause of my struggles, I became increasingly aware that my quiet time at the lab bench — for instance, when I was running columns or experiments — was anything but. Instead of thinking about science, I was watching television or interacting with social media on my smartphone. Although I could cover up this inefficiency with longer hours, my work felt chaotic and disorganized. I would come home from a long day in the lab and respond to e-mails or messages over dinner or in bed. This all came to a head last summer, when my inability to balance work and life ed me to seek help from the university’s student mental health services. Through a combination of consultation (咨询) and personal reflection, I came to understand my problem. To regain my focus, I chose to reduce my connectivity by using a basic mobile phone without an Internet connection during work hours and removing unnecessary apps from my smartphone when I did use it. Underestimating the addictive nature of smartphones, I experienced symptoms of withdrawal when I first did this. With time, however, I began to make practical use of my quiet time. I started reading papers during long experiments, and developed a habit of writing in my down time. Perhaps most importantly, I have felt my anxiety decrease and my productivity and creativity improve dramatically, trading my chaotic work-life relationship for one with clearer boundaries and plenty of new scientific ideas. Now, even when I do carry my smartphone, I feel less forced to check e-mails or messages, and can concentrate more closely on whatever task is at hand. 24.What main problem did the author face in early 2021? A.Working long hours alone. B.Getting stuck in his studies. C.Losing interest in research. D.Feeling anxious about messages. 25.What made the author struggle? A.His addiction to the phone. B.Running columns or experiments. C.Messy and disorganized schedule. D.His inability to get mental-health services. 26.What did the author do after he realized the problem? A.He wisely spent his spare time. B.He merely used a basic mobile phone. C.He frequently reflected on past mistakes. D.He never checked e-mail s or messages. 27.Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A.The Challenges in the Lab B.Disconnect to Reconnect C.The Struggles of a Student D.How Phones Affect Research C Really young children don’t seem to remember a big part of their formative years. Why is this? When we’re born, our brain isn’t fully developed and it continues to grow and change massively in those first few years of life. For example, a baby’s brain is about a quarter of its adult size, but by the age of two, it’ll be three-quarters of its final size. And as our brain develops, our memory does too. A recent study used brain scans (扫描图) of 26 children aged four months to two years old to understand whether babies actually form memories. Children were shown a picture of a new face, object or scene for two seconds and were then shown it again 60 seconds later. If a baby had a lot of activity in the hippocampus (海马体), which plays a key role in forming new memories, when looking at a new image, the scientists found they would then spend longer looking at it a second time. The theory goes that because babies tend to look at familiar things for longer, it’s likely that they are remembering what they have seen. If babies do in fact form memories then, researchers suggested, it’s likely that the inability to remember those early years could be caused by difficulties recalling memories. Study co-author Tristan Yates, a neuroscientist at Columbia University in New York City, said, “One really cool possibility is that the memories are actually still there in adulthood. It’s just that we’re not able to recollect them.” Why might we have trouble recalling memories? According to scientists at The University of Queensland, when we’re younger, a part of our hippocampus goes into overdrive, producing neurons (神经元) really quickly. Yet as we age, this slows down. The experts said it’s believed this quick-firing neuron production could contribute to little kids forgetting their earliest memories. They explained, “By forming new connections with memory circuits (回路), the masses of new neurons may break existing networks of already-formed memories.” 28.How did the researchers tell if babies had formed memories? A.By scanning the brain activity in hippocampus. B.By comparing the brain sizes of different babies. C.By testing their ability to recognize different sounds. D.By measuring how long they look at repeated images. 29.What does Tristan Yates agree on early memories in adulthood? A.They might be lost as we grow up. B.They remain but are hard to reach. C.They become much clearer over time. D.They are taken over by new memories. 30.How does the production of many new neurons lead to forgetting? A.It takes up too much space in the brain. B.It slows down the brain’s overall function. C.It destroys circuits that hold old memories. D.It prevents new memories from being formed. 31.What is the best title for the text? A.Why Can’t We Remember Being Babies? B.Why Shouldn’t We Wake Early Memories? C.How Are Memories Formed In Childhood? D.How Does Our Brain Size Affect Memories? D Palm oil (棕榈油) is a profitable business, but not without its problems. To make way for palm plantations (种植园), vast areas of rainforest are often cleared, which harms local wildlife and disrupts ecosystems. As a result, some animals, especially macaques (猕猴), have begun attacking the plantations by eating the palm fruit before it can be harvested. Naturally, planters try to trap and relocate the animals or scare them off with gunshots. However, a study published by Nadine Ruppert and Anna Holzner suggests that such revenge (报复) is fallacious. Instead of driving monkeys away, plantation owners should welcome them, as monkeys help control a more important pest of oil palms — rats. Dr. Ruppert and Ms. Holzner spent more than two and a half years tracking a pair of macaque groups around a large oil palm plantation. They found that the monkeys were eating oil palm fruits — but not actually that many. A group of 44 animals would consume 12.4 tonnes of palm fruits a year, which is only 0.56% of the fruit that would be produced in the group’s home range. However, at the same time, that same group would consume more than 3,000 rats. Previous reports suggest that rats living in palm plantations consume around 10% of the fruit produced. Therefore, researchers believe that leaving the monkeys alone might actually make economic sense. After a bit more research, this hypothesis (假设) was proven. By comparing plantations where owners discouraged monkeys from visiting with those whose owners didn’t, Dr. Ruppert and Ms. Holzner found that the number of rats in the former was 5 times higher than in the latter. On the whole, they calculated that tolerating monkeys would lead to a crop loss of about 2.5%. And this is before considering the costs of control measures for both species. For planters, then, the message of this work, as far as monkeys are concerned, is “live and let live”. Although macaques do charge a fee in the form of fruits for their service, that fee is a small price to pay for the benefits they provide. 32.Why may macaques enter the plantations? A.To help farmers catch rats. B.To reproduce in a safe habitat. C.To seek revenge for human hunting. D.To fight against habitat destruction. 33.What does the underlined word “fallacious” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Wrong. B.Frequent. C.Understandable. D.Violent. 34.What can we infer from the figures in the text? A.Monkeys can live peacefully with rats. B.Monkeys eat more palm fruits than rats. C.Tolerating monkeys is relatively beneficial. D.Tolerating monkeys causes a larger rat population. 35.What may be the author’s suggestion for plantation owners? A.Trap and relocate the monkeys. B.Live in harmony with monkeys. C.Harvest fruits earlier to avoid monkeys. D.Increase the plantations’ security measures. People are constantly bombarded (轰炸) with unrealistic and potentially harmful images of “vital” body types. 36 It’s also important to learn what your body can physically do and become comfortable. He burst into her room without knocking, touched her things with sticky fingers, and stole the attention from their parents that she longed for (渴望). They quarreled every day, and every argument ended with Emma being blamed. “You’re lucky,” her friends teased (取笑), “You’re not lonely.” But loneliness, Emma thought, might be better than living in constant chaos (混乱). Sometimes, lying awake at night, she wished fiercely that she were an only child. Life, she thought, would be so much quieter and happier. That summer, their family rented a grand three-story house by the sea for vacation. It was enormous — more than ten rooms on each floor — and stood right on the edge of the shore. With its towering windows and echoing halls, it felt more like a castle than a house. The scent (气味) of saltwater and pine drifted (漂浮) through the air, but the house felt strangely lonely in its silence, as though it hid many secrets in its corners. One afternoon, their parents went to the town market to buy seafood. “Keep an eye on your brother,” Mum told Emma before leaving. Watching the motorcar disappear down the coastal road, Emma settled into a rocking (摇摆的) chair on the balcony to read her favorite novel. But of course, peace never lasted long when James was around. Without warning, her book was yanked (猛拉)  by a small, dirty hand. “Emma! Let’s build a castle on the seashore!” It was James’s happy voice. “Stop it, James! You’re ruining everything!” Emma jumped up and stomped (跺脚) her feet. James only laughed, waved her book in the air, and darted off (快速离开). Her patience snapped (突然失控). “I hate you! Why can’t you just disappear from my world?” she shouted, not realizing how much weight those words carried. James froze. He put the book down silently and ran off, disappearing into the vastness (空旷) of the house. Emma sat back down, trying to ignore the uneasy feeling growing in her chest. “Peace, at last!” she told herself. But twenty minutes passed, James didn’t return. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the shadowed corner under the stairs, James was curled up (蜷缩) asleep, looking small and harmless. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第1页(共6页) 试题 第2页(共6页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高一下学期期末模拟卷02(人教版) 英 语 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 注意事项: 1. The move comes with growing concerns that the tool could make 61 easier for students to cheat on homework and be used to spread inaccurate information. “While the tool may be able to provide quick and easy answer 62 questions, it does not build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, 63 are vital for academic and lifelong success,” an official said in a statement. Apart from strict bans, teachers are redesigning their courses in an attempt 64 (block) the use of ChatGPT. Some college professors in the US are now including more oral exams and handwritten papers instead of typed ones. However, not all 65 (educate) are saying no to ChatGPT. Some Canadian universities are not planning on banning the tool. Instead, they are making policies on its proper usage, for both students and lecturers. Notice ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ English Newspaper Editorial Team 第二节(满分25分) 67. At fifteen, Emma thought her eight-year-old brother James, with his endless energy and talent for trouble, was the most annoying creature on earth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2 / 2 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高一下学期期末模拟卷02(人教版) 英 语·全解全析 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Here are some great things to do by the sea. It’s often windy on the coast, making it a perfect place to fly a kite. While you’ re doing that, keep an eye on the sky for sea birds that dive into the water. You can also find an underwater world that’s filled with wildlife. You might find fish hiding in rock pools. Remember to put them back quickly once you’ve had a look, and don’t ever leave them in a bucket in the sun. Some fish can be very dangerous too. Enjoy feeling the water wash over your feet and legs. Feel the sand moving between your toes. Why not see if you can spot creatures that might be interested in your feet? The coast is the perfect place to kick off your shoes and go for a walk. Feel how soft and warm the sand is under your feet. Explore a cave — who knows what you’ll discover? Lots of our places near the coast have caves to explore, but you’ll need to watch out for the sea coming in. A.The Challenges in the Lab B.Disconnect to Reconnect C.The Struggles of a Student D.How Phones Affect Research 【答案】24.B 25.A 26.A 27.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第一段中“In early 2021, I hit a rut in my studies.(2021年初,我在学习上遇到了瓶颈)”可知,作者在2021年初面临的主要问题是在学习上遇到了瓶颈。故选B。 25. 根据第二段中“Instead of thinking about science, I was watching television or interacting with social media on my smartphone.(我没有思考科学,而是在智能手机上看电视或与社交媒体互动)”以及“Although I could cover up this inefficiency with longer hours, my work felt chaotic and disorganized.(虽然我可以用更长的时间来掩盖这种低效,但我的工作感觉混乱无序)”可知,作者挣扎的原因是沉迷于手机。故选A。 26. 根据第三段中“To regain my focus, I chose to reduce my connectivity by using a basic mobile phone without an Internet connection during work hours and removing unnecessary apps from my smartphone when I did use it.(为了重新集中注意力,我选择在工作时间内使用没有互联网连接的基本手机,并在使用智能手机时删除不必要的应用程序)”以及第四段中“With time, however, I began to make practical use of my quiet time. I started reading papers during long experiments, and developed a habit of writing in my down time.(然而,随着时间的推移,我开始实际利用我的安静时间。我开始在长时间实验中阅读论文,并养成了在空闲时间写作的习惯)”可知,作者意识到问题后明智地利用了业余时间。故选A。 27. B。 C Really young children don’t seem to remember a big part of their formative years. 根据第二段的句子“If a baby had a lot of activity in the hippocampus (海马体), which plays a key role in forming new memories, when looking at a new image, the scientists found they would then spend longer looking at it a second time. The theory goes that because babies tend to look at familiar things for longer, it’s likely that they are remembering what they have seen.(科学家们发现,如果婴儿在看新图像时,海马体(海马体在形成新记忆中起着关键作用)活动频繁,那么他们第二次看新图像的时间就会更长。该理论认为,由于婴儿倾向于看熟悉的东西的时间更长,他们很可能会记住他们所看到的东西。)”可知,研究者通过测量婴儿第二次看图片的时长来判断是否形成记忆。故选D项。 29.细节理解题。根据第三段的句子“Study co-author Tristan Yates, a neuroscientist at Columbia University in New York City, said, “One really cool possibility is that the memories are actually still there in adulthood. It’s just that we’re not able to recollect them.”(研究报告的合著者、纽约哥伦比亚大学的神经科学家特里斯坦·耶茨说:“一种非常酷的可能性是,这些记忆实际上在成年后仍然存在。只是我们记不起来了。”)”可知,成年后,记忆仍在,只是难以提取。故选B项。 30.细节理解题。根据最后一段的句子“The experts said it’s believed this quick-firing neuron production could contribute to little kids forgetting their earliest memories. They explained, “By forming new connections with memory circuits (回路), the masses of new neurons may break existing networks of already-formed memories.”(专家表示,这种神经元快速增殖的现象可能是导致幼儿遗忘早期记忆的原因之一。他们解释说:“大量新生的神经元通过与记忆回路形成新的连接,可能会破坏已形成的记忆网络。”)”可知,大量新神经元会破坏原有记忆回路。故选C项。 31.主旨大意题。通读全文,文章开篇提出核心问题“Really young children don’t seem to remember a big part of their formative years. Why is this?(幼童似乎记不起他们成长过程中很大一部分经历。这是为什么呢?)”,随后通过研究解释婴儿能形成记忆,但成年后难以回忆的原因 (海马体神经元快速生成破坏旧记忆网络)。A项“Why Can’t We Remember Being Babies?(为什么我们记不住婴儿时期的事?) 精准概括全文主旨,是文章的最佳标题。故选A项。 D Palm oil (棕榈油) is a profitable business, but not without its problems. 【答案】32.D 33.A 34.C 35.B 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了猕猴进入棕榈种植园虽吃果实,但能捕食大量老鼠,种植园主应与猕猴和谐共处。 32.细节理解题。根据第一段“To make way for palm plantations, vast areas of rainforest are often cleared, which harms local wildlife and disrupts ecosystems. As a result, some animals, especially macaques, have begun attacking the plantations by eating the palm fruit(为了给棕榈种植园腾出空间,大片雨林经常被砍伐,这伤害了当地野生动物并破坏了生态系统。因此,一些动物,尤其是猕猴,开始攻击种植园,偷吃棕榈果)”可知,猕猴进入种植园是因为栖息地被破坏。故选D。 33.词句猜测题。根据第二段“However, a study published by Nadine Ruppert and Anna Holzner suggests that such revenge is fallacious. Instead of driving monkeys away, plantation owners should welcome them, as monkeys help control a more important pest of oil palms — rats.(然而,Nadine Ruppert和Anna Holzner发表的一项研究表明,这种报复是fallacious。种植园主不应该把猴子赶走,而应该欢迎它们,因为猴子有助于控制更重要的油棕榈害虫——老鼠)”可知,猴子有助于控制更重要的油棕榈害虫——老鼠,所以种植园主驱赶猴子的做法是错误的,划线单词fallacious的意思是“错误的”,与Wrong意义相同。故选A。 34.推理判断题。根据第四段“By comparing plantations where owners discouraged monkeys from visiting with those whose owners didn’t, Dr. Ruppert and Ms. Holzner found that the number of rats in the former was 5 times higher than in the latter. On the whole, they calculated that tolerating monkeys would lead to a crop loss of about 2.5%. (通过比较种植园主不鼓励猴子来访的种植园和种植园主不这样做的种植园,Ruppert博士和Holzner女士发现,前者的老鼠数量是后者的5倍。总的来说,他们计算出,容忍猴子会导致作物损失约2.5%)”可知,容忍猴子相对有益,因为虽然猴子会吃少量果实,但能大幅减少老鼠数量,从而减少更大的损失。故选C。 35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“For planters, then, the message of this work, as far as monkeys are concerned, is “live and let live”. (那么,对于种植者来说,就猴子而言,这项工作的信息是“彼此宽容,和平共处”)”可知,作者建议种植园主与猴子和谐共处。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 People are constantly bombarded (轰炸) with unrealistic and potentially harmful images of “vital” body types. 36 It’s also important to learn what your body can physically do and become comfortable. For example, you might think to yourself that you’ve improved your appearance compared to a few years ago. Know when to seek help. 37.上文“Accept your body as it is. This means not trying to change who you are or focus on qualities you don’t like. Learn to enjoy your body — how you move, feel, and get around. After Craig Clark retired from managing a chain of convenience stores, he became a computer technician. At fifteen, Emma thought her eight-year-old brother James, with his endless energy and talent for trouble, was the most annoying creature on earth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】        But twenty minutes passed, James didn’t return. In the shadowed corner under the stairs, James was curled up asleep, looking small and harmless. 词汇激活 行为类 ①变成:turn into/transform into ②发生:happen/take place ③记得:remember/recall ④回复:reply/respond 情绪类 ①焦虑的:anxious/restless ②温柔地:gently/tenderly 【点睛】[高分句型1]She searched the balcony, the garden, and the first-floor rooms, her heart sinking with each empty corner.(运用了现在分词地独立主格结构) [高分句型2]She brushed the hair from his forehead, remembering how he’d always followed her like a little shadow.(运用了现在分词短语作状语,how引导宾语从句) 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
