5大常考话题一:良好的人际关系与社会交往(亲情温暖与家庭故事)(4篇)
Writing1:Mark decided to take action, hoping to encourage his dad to change. He sat down at his desk and began to write a heartfelt letter to his dad. In the letter, he expressed his love and concern for his dad’s health, describing how worried he and his mom were about the potential consequences of smoking. He also shared his memories of the happy times they had spent together and how much he wanted his dad to be around for a long time. Finally, he gently suggested that his dad consider quitting smoking for his own good and for the sake of his family.
The next day, Mark found a reply from his dad on his bed. His dad had written a note saying that he had read Mark’s letter carefully and was deeply touched by his son’s love and concern. He admitted that he had been aware of the risks of smoking but had been too weak to quit. However, Mark’s letter had given him the strength and motivation he needed. He promised Mark that he would try his best to quit smoking and would seek help if necessary. Mark was overjoyed to read his dad’s reply and felt a sense of relief wash over him.
Writing 2:So I used Mom’s clothesline (晾衣绳) and cushions (垫子) to offer help in our backyard. I tied the clothesline between two trees and placed the cushions along the ground. At first, Tom’s legs trembled as he inched forward, sweat on his forehead. Our old dog Bingo barked to cheer him on. It was slow work. Tom would take half a step before falling onto the cushions. But he never complained. “I’ll run to the park one day!” he said, his eyes full of hope and determination. Every day we practiced — rain or shine — with the clothesline swaying like a bridge to his courage.
One sunny afternoon, something amazing happened. Tom let go of the rope mid-step, his legs shaking but his eyes steady. Then, to our shock, he took two more steps before falling into Mom’s arms. My family cheered, including Bingo. “I made it!” Tom shouted with pride. From that day on, Tom could walk further with a little help. By his next birthday, we celebrated with a big cake and the marks Dad made on the kitchen wall years ago seemed to fade that day — replaced by the sight of Tom, our “Super Tom.” We realized even the hardest challenges could be overcome with perseverance and determination.
Writing 3:The next morning, Eric woke up with a heavy heart. He thought about how, lately, every meal had been spent with his eyes glued to the screen, responding to messages instead of asking about his parents’ day. The photo on the shelf — taken at the beach last summer, all three of them grinning with sand in their hair — seemed to mock him now. He’d brushed off their attempts to chat, snapped when they asked him to put the phone down, and missed the way their smiles faded each time. So he sincerely apologized to his parents.
Moved by their son’s words, Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s anger disappeared. Mrs. Brown reached across the table to squeeze his hand, her eyes softening. “We noticed you pulling away, but we didn’t know how to reach you,” she said. Mr. Brown nodded, adding, “Let’s start fresh.” That night, they pulled out board games, and Eric laughed as his dad cheated at chess and his mom told silly stories from her childhood. By bedtime, the tension was gone, replaced by a warmth he hadn’t felt in months.
Writing 4:One possible version:
When Jack gave Tom a new uniform and an envelope the next day, Tom’s eyes widened. “We didn’t just get the uniform,” Jack said, explaining there was extra money for his mom’s medicine. Tom felt that his throat tightened. He knew that, in the envelope, there was not just money, but the love of his teammates. “Why are you doing this?” he asked, his voice shaking. “Because we’re a team,” Jack said with a smile. “And teammates take care of each other.” For the first time in months, Tom felt a warm, strong hope — not just for the game, but for the family he had found on the field.
The day of the match came, and Tom walked onto the field confidently. Wearing the new uniform, he felt the support from his teammates. The game was intense but full of warmth. Tom and his teammates fought together, and their perfect cooperation and hard work made the ball fly freely on the field. Though the opponents were strong, they never gave up. Finally, with a beautiful teamwork goal, they won the game. After the match, Tom stood with his teammates, looking at the cheering crowd. He realized he was not alone. With the care and help of his teammates, he could overcome any difficulty.
5大常考话题二: 公益事业与志愿服务(助人义举与善意传递)(4篇)
Writing1:A wave carried Colin around, and to his surprise, he found himself next to the familiar tree, Hope. He quickly grabbed onto one of its strong branches. The waves still crashed around him, but the tree held firm. Colin looked around desperately, hoping to see his grandfather. Then he heard Grandpa’s voice calling him from the other tree, Strength. With all his might, Colin clung to the branch and tried to move towards his grandfather. Inch by inch, he made his way through the raging waters. Finally, he reached Strength and climbed up to join his grandfather. They hugged each other tightly, relieved to be together again.
From that day on, Colin and his grandfather valued Strength and Hope more. They knew that these two trees had saved their lives. They also realized the importance of trees in protecting the village from natural disasters. Colin decided to plant more trees with his grandfather. They worked hard every day, digging holes and watering the young saplings. Other villagers were inspired by their actions and joined them. The trees not only provided shade and fruit but also became a symbol of hope and strength for everyone in the village.
Writing 2:
Finally, we made next Sunday the cleaning day and spread the news to more kids in our community. Equipped with long-handled scoops, waterproof boots, and garbage bins, we gathered around the pond. Everyone was full of energy, ready to take on the challenge. We carefully scooped up rubbish from the water surface, while others collected litter on the banks. As we worked, a sense of unity and purpose filled the air. After hours of hard work, the pond was transformed. The water started to regain its clarity, and the bad smell disappeared. Seeing our work, we felt a great sense of achievement, knowing that we had made a real difference to our community.
Several days later, I received an invitation from our community committee. In the invitation was a sentence, saying “You have been elected the Environmental Protection Guardian of our community and will be invited to make a short speech in the Award Ceremony next week.” I was so pleased that I shared the good news with my mother. “I’m proud of you, my child,” she said with tears. I still remember the unforgettable day when I stood on the stage expressing my ideas, a great round of applause drowned me. As a youth, I think it’s our responsibility to protect our environment.
Writing 3:
“No, not that.” She refused, “I have another idea”. After a pause, her little face lit up. “Sunflowers, Mama! Big, happy sunflowers!” she exclaimed. “They look like sunshine!” So that afternoon, we carefully picked the brightest blooms from our garden. My daughter arranged them, tying them into a bunch, attached to which was a card with a vibrant sun and a smiling man. “For Mr. Man to feel sunny,” she explained. The next morning, we approached Bob’s house with the bunch of sunflowers. He took them with his fingers trembling slightly. He nodded and whispered, “Thank you.”
From then on, Bob and my daughter exchanged greetings each morning. The transformation wasn’t instant, but the morning after we left the sunflowers, he was there again. As we passed, my daughter chirped, “Hi, Mr. Man!” This time, he slowly lifted his head. His bright blue eyes, though still shadowed, met hers. A sparkle of gratitude flashed across his face. Then, incredibly, he replied, “Morning.” That single word filled my daughter with joy. One morning, I noticed the slightly wilted sunflowers still standing proudly in a jar by his door — a silent testament to a small kindness.
Writing4:Seeing our disappointment, Steve offered a solution. He said that he lived nearby and could lend us his car, which was parked not far away. I was surprised and asked if he was sure, as I didn’t want to trouble him. He smiled and said it was no problem, adding that he could get a ride home from his friend. We thanked him repeatedly and drove his car to Hot Springs, where we had a great time preparing for the next day’s ski.
After a great ski time, I called Steve to return his car as promised. When we met, I gave him a small gift to show our thanks, which he accepted happily. He told me that helping others made him feel good, and that he hoped I would do the same for someone else. I promised I would, knowing that kindness is something we should pass on. We said goodbye, and I felt lucky to have met such a warm-hearted person.
5大常考话题三: 正确的人生态度(成长挫折与自我超越)(4篇)
Writing1:Mr. Zhang told Mei that her painting was excellent and moved him. He explained how the warm colors and the sunrise over the ocean in her painting gave him a sense of peace and comfort, reminding him of the beauty and hope in the world. Mei realized her art had a bigger impact than just winning contests. This renewed her love for painting. She began to create artworks that brought hope and beauty, aiming to heal and inspire others. Through this, Mei discovered the true value of her art: touching hearts and warming souls.
Writing 2:Something in Dad’s tone inspired Amellia. The next morning, Amellia deleted all social media apps from her phone. She began attending Mr. Thompson’s after-school tutoring. At first, progress was slow. Some nights she cried over difficult problems. But gradually, something positive changed. Variables stopped being enemies and became tools. By March, she was waking at 5:30 am to practice papers. She declined birthday parties and movie nights. Her father watched this shift with quiet pride, reminding her to relax and refresh herself from time to time.
On exam day, Amellia’s hands shook as she entered the hall to take the math exam. The paper seemed to be scary as ever. Then, her father’s voice echoed in her mind: You can, if you think you can. She took a deep breath and managed to focus on the test items. Gradually, she was fully engaged in them, writing steadily and working out every problem. By the time the exam was over, she was sure enough to have good grades, which was confirmed the next day by an A. At that time Amellia finally realized the power of belief and perseverance.
Writing 3:After the exam, Amy waited for Tom outside the classroom. When Tom emerged, his head hung low in shame. Amy approached him gently but with a serious look. “Tom, cheating is never the answer,” she said. “I know you were scared, but it’s not right.” Tom felt tears welling up in his eyes. He apologized profusely, saying he had let himself and her down. Amy forgave him, but reminded him that honesty was the most important thing. She then offered to help him study for the make-up exam if he needed it.
Over the next week, they spent hours in the library to prepare for the make-up exam. Amy patiently explained the difficult math concepts to Tom. Tom listened attentively, taking detailed notes and asking questions whenever he was confused. With Amy's help, Tom gradually understood the topic that had once stumped him. As the days passed, his confidence grew. When the make-up exam arrived, Tom walked into the classroom with a calm heart, ready to prove himself through his own hard work.
Writing4:
My improvement also led me to take part in a local tennis team. Stepping onto the competitive court for the first time was horrible. Other players looked so confident and skilled, which made me doubt my ability. But the gentle advice appeared in my mind suddenly and my unhealthy feelings disappeared. I focused on the game, every shot and every movement. I gave it my all and won the match in the end. I felt a sense of achievement wash over me, proving that I could face challenges head-on and achieve success.
Off the tennis court, my new hobby had an effect on my life. I became more outgoing and sociable and started to take part in tennis-related social events. I made friends from all walks of life and we bonded over our shared love for the sport. These new friendships broadened my way of seeing things and made me feel more connected to the community. Tennis has become more than just a sport for me. It’s a teacher, always reminding me of the importance of confidence, not giving up, and the joy of learning.
5大常考话题四: 冒险经历与动物救助(3篇)
Writing1:“That squirrel worked very hard to gather his winter supply of food,” he said. “Many times in life, we may find easy ways to get what we want. But we should respect the efforts of others and share the resources fairly. The squirrel needs these pecans to survive the cold winter.” I felt a little ashamed as I listened to Grandpa’s words. I realized my so-called smart act was selfish and wrong. Looking at the basket full of pecans, I knew what to do.
So I carried the basket full of pecans back to the tree. I gently called out, hoping the squirrel would appear. After a while, it peeked out from the hole. I slowly poured the pecans back. The squirrel didn’t run away. When I finished, I stepped back and watched it arrange the pecans. I was happy to have made the right decision. When I got back to Grandpa, he hugged me and said, “You’re a good boy now.”
Writing 2:One possible version:
The first drop of rain fell on my face as the thunder rolled again. We looked up nervously as the sky turned almost completely dark. Within minutes, rain poured down, soaking our clothes and blurring our vision. I grabbed Clara’s arm as a flash of lightning lit up the forest. “We can’t stay here!” she cried. The narrow trail was now muddy and hard to follow. I could barely see where we were stepping, but we had no choice. I pulled her gently and pointed ahead, “Let’s move — quickly, before it gets worse.”
We held hands and struggled through the dark forest. Branches scratched our arms and legs as we rushed forward, dodging rocks and fallen logs. My heart pounded with fear, but I knew we had to stay calm. Just as I was concerned that we were completely lost, we spotted a small wooden sign. “Main Trail — 200 meters,” it read. We followed the arrow and soon heard voices. Mr. Turner and two classmates were waiting for us with flashlights. At that moment, I finally felt safe again.
Writing 3: To their surprise, Mia and Leo found an injured hiker lying there. The man’s ankle was swollen and covered in mud, and he explained that he’d slipped on a wet rock while chasing a rare butterfly. Though weak, he managed to tell them his name — Mr. Johnson — and that he’d been lost for hours. Mia immediately took out the first-aid kit from their backpack, while Leo used branches to make a splint for Mr. Johnson’s ankle. As they helped him, the hiker shared his knowledge of forest landmarks, pointing out a distant mountain peak visible through the trees. “That peak always faces east,” he said, “so if we head opposite, we’ll reach the village before dark.”
With the hiker getting better, Mia and Leo knew they had to find a way out. They supported Mr. Johnson between them, following his directions through the increasingly dim forest. The trio relied on the mountain peak as their compass, chatting about Mr. Johnson’s butterfly studies to ease their nerves. When they finally spotted the village’s faint lights, Mia and Leo felt a rush of relief and joy. The villagers, who had started a search party, cheered as the three emerged from the woods. That night, as Mia and Leo lay in bed, they realized the forest’s danger had taught them more than survival — it had shown them the power of courage and kindness, turning a scary adventure into a story of hope.
5大常考话题五:学校生活(竞技比赛与师生故事)(3篇)
Writing1:Suddenly, he suggested that I play for the hotel customers in the courtyard. At first, I was hesitant. The fear of making mistakes and embarrassing myself in front of others welled up inside me. But then I thought of Joshua Bell’s performance in the subway station. He played with such passion and dedication regardless of the setting. I took a deep breath, nodded, and got my violin ready. I walked to the center of the courtyard, and as I started to play, all eyes turned towards me.
I tried not to mind the mistakes halfway through the performance as before. Instead, I focused on the music itself, on expressing the beauty and emotion that I had felt when I first listened to the piece. I remembered the countless hours of practice, the determination to master this challenge. Gradually, I lost myself in the music. When I finished, there was a moment of silence, and then warm applause filled the courtyard. I looked around, seeing smiles on the faces of the hotel customers. A sense of accomplishment washed over me. I had finally overcome my fear and connected with the audience through the music.
Writing 2:
“Stop or keep going?” Ahmad whispered to himself, torn between the choices. The finish line was so close, and he knew if he kept going, he could win the race immediately and go to the school competition. But when he looked over his shoulder, he saw Bala lying on the ground, wearing a painful look, obviously in need of help. At that moment, the cheers of the crowd faded, replaced by the echo of what his mother often told him, “Results count, but there are something more important...” Yes, helping a classmate is more important than winning a race. Taking a final, determined look at the finish line, he turned around and bent down beside Bala. “Come on, dude. Let me help you up,” he said, extending his hand firmly. Looking up at Ahmad in disbelief, Bala reached out hesitantly to grab his hand.
Then Ahmad supported Bala and they reached the finish line together. Watching the unexpected scene, the crowd burst into thunderous applause. Bala kept his eyes down, but a flicker of respect, mixed with profound shame, washed over him. They both knew what true sportsmanship looked like, and it had nothing to do with who crossed the line first. After the race, Bala, filled with admiration for Ahmad’s help, told Mr. Lim that Ahmad should be the one to represent the class. Mr. Lim gave him a small and proud nod. From then on, they trained together daily, gradually becoming inseparable friends. And every time they ran side by side on the track, they would remember the day of the class race, the day that changed everything.
Writing 3:Katie stood still, not expecting such a surprise. Her eyes scanned the screen, lighting up as familiar faces appeared. Laughter and cheers filled the air as each student took a turn, sharing a short thank-you. One spoke about a time when Katie stayed late to help with homework. Another recalled how Katie comforted them during a tough day. Katie’s hands slowly rose to her mouth, eyes glistening with tears. Her chest tightened — not from sadness, but from joy. A professional video team hired by Clay carefully recorded every heartfelt moment, capturing the warmth and connection filling the yard.
The video of the special moments was posted online. Katie watched it again after it was shared, overwhelmed by the flood of comments. Many viewers expressed how they too had been deeply moved by their own teachers. “This is the magic of teaching,” one comment read, “The relationships we build last a lifetime, even if we don’t always realize their impact.” As Katie read through the heartfelt messages, she was reminded that teaching is more than just passing on knowledge — it’s about offering support, encouragement, and sometimes simply being there.
Writing1:
However, something unexpected happened. The judges took longer than expected to announce the results. Gordon’s excitement slowly turned into anxiety. He looked around the room, seeing other contestants just as anxious. The hostess stepped forward. “Two contestants have got the same score. They are Gordon and Luna,” she said. Gordon’s heart leapt. The hostess added, “But we have only a winner.” Gordon’s stomach dropped. His parents tried to calm him down and told him to wait for the hostess’s next reply. At that moment, the air was filled with a tense atmosphere.
Then the hostess said, “Gordon and Luna need to perform one more time because of having the same score.” She explained that when there was a tie, the contestants were required to perform another piece to break the tie. Gordon’s heart pounded rapidly. He glanced at Luna, who looked equally anxious. He suddenly remembered his parents’ words: “It’s not about winning, but about sharing your music.” After Luna’s performance ended, Gordon took a deep breath and stepped back on stage. He played a familiar piece, pouring his passion into every note. Finally, the hostess announced him as the winner. Gordon had played his heart out and won, but more importantly, he had stayed true to his passion.
Writing 2:

Writing 3:I could no longer hold back the flood of sad tears. Choking on my sobs, I confessed everything — how my mind went blank on stage, how the teacher replaced me, and how ashamed I felt. “I’ve failed you after all our practice,” I cried. My mother gently wiped my cheeks and pointed back to the dandelions. “You see,” she said softly, “I never thought of removing them because every flower has its own beauty. The roses are the stars, but the dandelions hold the story together — just like a narrator. Their quiet beauty doesn’t take away from the roses; it completes the garden.” Her words slowly eased the tightness in my chest. I looked again at the humble white flowers, no longer seeing them as weeds, but as gentle storytellers nestled among the stars.
“You will be an excellent narrator,” Mom said, holding my hands. “Your voice is clear and warm, and you understand the heart of the story better than anyone.” Inspired, I devoted myself to the new role. On the night of the performance, I stood at the side of the stage, script in hand. As I began to speak, my voice, calm and confident, flowed through the auditorium, guiding the audience through the story. When the curtain fell, my teacher praised me, saying the narration had moved everyone. I finally understood that every role, like every flower, has its own unique beauty and value. That day, I learned that shining isn’t only about being the rose in the spotlight — it’s also about being the dandelion that tells the story with quiet grace.
Writing4:He knew what he could draw. Jack grabbed his crayons with determination. First, he vividly depicted his seventh birthday: Grandma’s face beaming with a smile as he blew out the candles. Next came a sunny beach scene — his whole family laughing and running along the shore. Finally, he drew the special moment when Grandpa gave him Big Dog. He connected all these scenes into one big picture, leaving one corner empty for new memories. When the bell rang, he gently rolled up his masterpiece, eager to share it with his mom.
After school, Jack rushed to his mom, with the drawing in his hand. Breathlessly, he showed her his artwork. Her eyes welled up as she recognized each precious moment. Overwhelmed, she pulled him into a warm hug and then revealed Big Dog, which she had found in the recovered boxes. Seeing his old friend, Jack leaped with great joy, clutching it to his chest. When his mom noticed the blank corner, she suggested drawing the whole family in their new house. In that moment, they realized it was love that kept memories alive, and that together, they could always create new ones.
Writing 5:At the ticket office, we found out it was a one-way tour boat, with the next stop only 8 km away. A map check showed the riverside trail to that dock was about 10 km. “Let’s run for it,” we blurted together. After strapping the backpack around my waist, we set off. The soft path felt gentle under our trainers and willows gave us shade. We kept a steady pace, passing shady banks, river views, and onlookers who cheered us on. Each kilometre felt shorter with one goal: to return the backpack before the boat departed again.
We reached our destination fifty minutes later, just as the white boat slowly pulled in. Seeing us, the boy leapt ashore before the ramp even touched down. I slipped the bag off and handed it over; his face lit up. “That’s incredible, thank you so much!” he exclaimed, clutching it to his chest. His mum snapped a quick photo, promising to send it to us as a souvenir of our paths crossing that day. As the bell sounded again, we waved goodbye. Leo checked his watch: 10.2 km, pace perfect. Standing on the bank, we watched the sunset glowing over the river — a perfect golden medal for our run.
Writing 6: Alex’s palm was sweaty as he reached back for the baton. His fingers trembled slightly, and he almost fumbled it, but Sarah’s firm grip guided it into his hand. “You’ve got this!” she shouted, her voice cutting through his nerves. With a deep breath, Alex started running, his legs aching but his mind focused on the baton in his hand. He could hear his teammates cheering loudly, and for the first time, he didn’t feel ashamed of his pace. He pushed through the tiredness, passing the baton to Liam smoothly, a small smile escaping his lips as he did so.
Standing with his team after the race, a profound sense of peace replaced the earlier anxiety. They didn’t win first place, but no one looked disappointed. James clapped him on the shoulder, Sarah gave him a big hug, and Liam high-fived him excitedly. “You were amazing out there,” Mr. Davies said, approaching with a proud grin. Alex looked at his teammates, his eyes warm with gratitude. He realized that sports weren’t about being the best; they were about courage and teamwork. For the first time in years, he felt proud of his effort — and he knew he would never hide from a challenge again.

(24-25高一下·辽宁抚顺·期末)As the family watched their favorite TV show together, they heard Mark’s dad’s trademark cough. Every time he heard that sound, Mark’s heart felt heavy. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to focus on the show, but his mind continued to drift to thoughts of all the damage his dad was doing to his lungs by smoking.
Mark just didn’t understand. His dad was a great dad — he spent a lot of his spare time with him playing outside and watching TV. Plus, he was really smart, so why would he be so stupid as to risk his health by smoking so much? What if it caused a serious disease? Had he ever considered how heartbroken it would make him and his mom?
Mark’s mind wandered back to a conversation he had overheard between his parents. His mom had been pleading (恳求) with his dad, her voice full of worry. “You need to think about your health, for Mark’s sake if not for your own,” she had said. But his dad just brushed her off, saying he was too stressed to quit.
One evening, Mark approached his mom to discuss the issue. “I’ve tried to persuade him to quit,” Mark’s mom expressed with a sigh. “But he always gets annoyed whenever I bring up the subject.” She looked tired and defeated. “At least your dad is considerate with his smoking; he never does it indoors or around others. He even changes his clothes when coming home to prevent us from smelling the smoke. Despite that, it’s still so hard on him, on us…”
The next day at school, Mark was playing basketball with his classmate Tim on the court. “Hey, does either of your parents smoke?” he asked. “Yeah, my dad smokes, but he’s cut down in the past year,” replied Tim. “Oh, how did he do that?” Mark asked curiously. “I don’t really know what happened. I guess he just realized it was time for a change,” said Tim, as he threw the ball back to Mark. This gave Mark a ray of hope and an idea.

(24-25高一下·四川德阳·期末)When my little brother Tom turned five, our lives changed forever. One rainy night, his legs stopped working. At first, we thought he just slept in a funny way. But the next morning, he still couldn’t move them. That day started our family’s three years of hospital visits and many questions. Mom carried Tom everywhere in an old blue backpack. Our old dog Bingo followed her everywhere, as if understanding something was wrong.
For the first few weeks, Tom could move slowly if he held onto walls. But by Christmas, even sitting made him shake. Doctors used big words we didn’t understand and took lots of blood. Finally, they said, “His legs might never work again.” That night, I watched Dad hit the kitchen wall hard. His fists made marks that are still there today.
What surprised everyone was Tom himself. He cried when he saw needles, but he smiled and waved at the nurses. “Look, I’m a kangaroo baby!” he said from Mom’s backpack. The doctors laughed. His favorite game was “Super Tom.” He would throw his arms out like he was flying while Mom carried him with Bingo jumping.
The hardest moment came on my birthday. Mom was cutting cake when Tom spilled juice on his pants. “I’ ll clean it!” he said, sliding off his chair. His legs gave out right away. Mom ran to help, and he whispered, “Sorry that I ruined your party.” That night, I heard her crying in the laundry room. Bingo sat beside her as if to comfort her.
But Tom never gave up. One afternoon, he pulled Mom’s sleeve while she was washing dishes. “Watch this!” he said. He leaned against the fridge and stood for five seconds before falling into a pile of towels. Mom cried as she hugged him. “I’ll run to the park one day!” he promised, even though his legs shook like jelly (果冻). After hearing what he said, I thought it’s time that I should do something for him.

So I used Mom’s clothesline (晾衣绳) and cushions (垫子) to offer help in our back-yard.

Writing 3
(24-25高一下·河南洛阳·期末)In a comfortable home, 17-year-old Eric’s life had taken an unexpected turn since he got a new smartphone last month. Once an active and sociable kid who loved sharing his day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Eric was now spending hours glued to his phone screen.
At the dinner table, which used to be filled with lively conversations, there was now only the occasional sound of Eric tapping on his phone. Mrs. Brown would try to start a chat, asking about his school day or his plans for the weekend, but Eric would just give short, distracted answers without looking up. “Eric, did you hear me? I asked how your math test went,” Mr. Brown said one evening, a hint of annoyance in his voice. “Oh, it was fine, I guess,” Eric mumbled (嘟囔), his eyes still fixed on the screen.
As the days passed, the gap between Eric and his parents grew wider. His grades started to drop, and he no longer showed interest in his old hobbies like soccer or reading. One weekend, when his parents suggested a family hike, Eric refused, saying he was too busy. In reality, he just wanted to stay at home and play mobile games. This led to a big argument. “All you do is stare at that phone! You’re ignoring your family and your responsibilities,” Mr. Brown shouted, his face red with anger. “You don’t understand! My friends are on here, and it’s fun. You’re just being unfair,” Eric talked back, storming out of the room and slamming (砰地关上) the door behind him.
That night, as Eric lay in bed, he stole a look at the family photo on his bedside table. It was a picture of them on a happy vacation, all smiles and full of joy. Memories of the good times they shared flooded his mind. Meanwhile, in their bedroom, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were also reflecting on the situation, worried about their son and the state of their relationship.

(24-25高一下·海南·期末)Tom was a regular figure on the school football field, and his skills were so impressive despite the worn-out sports shoes he wore. Off the field, his life was hard for various reasons. His mother had been ill in bed for several years, and his father recently lost his job, leaving the family even poorer. However, Tom never let his difficult situations reduce his love for football.
One day, the coach announced to the players that there would be a football match, and all players were required to wear proper sports uniforms (制服). Tom was worried. He stared at his worn shoes, wondering how he could possibly ask his parents for money they didn’t have. That night, he lay awake, practicing making excuses in his head—maybe he’d pretend to be sick. But deep inside, he knew he couldn’t do that. However, the thought of missing the game and letting his team down troubled him.
During a break the next day. Tom just sat alone, staring at the ground, while the others talked excitedly with each other. Jack, the team captain, finally cornered him after practice. “What’s up. Tom? There seems to be something wrong with you.” At first, Tom hesitated, but Jack’s genuine (真诚的) concern broke through his pride. “It’s the uniform,” he said in a low voice. “I can’t afford it.” And more than that, he explained to Jack the difficult situation his family was in. Hearing that, Jack just patted (轻拍) him on the shoulder without saying a word.
That day, the team gathered without Tom after practice. “We can’t let this happen,” Jack said. “Tom’s the best player we’ve got; we must do something to help him and his family.” They tried their best to come up with ideas to collect money and decided on a car wash.
On Saturday morning, the school parking lot was totally changed. Signs reading “Football for Tom — Wash a Car. Change a Life” were everywhere, and the team worked tirelessly on the cars and shared Tom’s story with anyone who’d listen. By evening, the team had raised more than enough for the uniform.

(24-25高一下·江苏南京·期末)Twelve-year-old Colin loved going to his grandfather’s house in Puthur, a small village in Tamil Nadu. The house was near the pretty blue sea and had tall coconut palms (椰子树) with green coconuts hanging from them. When the coconuts fell, the kids would break them open and drink the coconut water. Colin really enjoyed being there. He liked to play with the rabbits running around the trees. He would go fishing with his friends. It was always great fun to spend the holidays at Grandpa’s place.
During his winter break, Colin was surprised when he arrived at his grandfather’s village. There were hardly any trees left.
“Grandpa, where did all the trees go?” Colin asked.
“People cut them down for wood, to use as fuel and make furniture,” Grandpa replied.
Grandpa’s house was different. He never let anyone cut down his trees. He loved and hugged each palm tree in his yard. He also named two big trees near the front door Strength and Hope. He had planted them himself, and now they had grown tall and strong.
One night, Colin woke up because he heard a strange sound. He quickly ran to his grandfather. Grandpa shouted, “It’s an earthquake!” They ran outside the house and saw the sea rising. People were shouting, screaming, and crying. The waves kept getting higher. Huge waves crashed into Grandpa’s house. They covered Colin and Grandpa and then went back into the sea, taking everything in their way. Grandpa held Colin’s hand tightly, but another big wave came and separated them.
Grandpa fought the waves and held onto Strength. He called out to Colin but couldn’t see him. Grandpa climbed up the coconut tree and held on tight while the sea was all around.
“Colin, Colin!” Grandpa cried. “Don’t be scared. Come to me quickly.”

(24-25高一下·山东泰安·期末)There was a pond in the center of our community, which had long been a source of joy and comfort. In the past, its clear waters sparkled like diamonds under the sun, and the gentle rustling of the leaves along the banks created a pleasant tune. Colorful fish and frogs made it their home, and kids in the neighborhood would spend hours by the water, playing with their friends or observing the wonders of nature.
However, over time, the pond became dirtier and dustier. Empty plastic bottles, fast-food wrappers, and even old bicycles were carelessly thrown into the water. The once-clear waters turned dark, and a strange smell began to hang over the area, driving away the wildlife.
One sunny afternoon, I took a walk around the pond and was shocked by its sorry state. Determined to do something about it, I took out my phone and started taking pictures from every angle. Each image recorded the extent of the pollution, serving as a reminder of the urgent need for action.
After getting home, I sat down and crafted a detailed plan. I estimated that we would need at least fifteen volunteers to cover all areas of the pond. I made a list of necessary tools, such as long-handled scoops, waterproof boots, and garbage bins. Then, I spent hours designing posters with pictures of the polluted pond and the words “Let’s Bring Back Our Shining Pond.” My mother even suggested that I publish a post on the net!
I first shared my plan with my closest friends. We met at a nearby playground, and as I showed them the pictures, they were horrified. “I can’t believe it has become like this,” shouted Jack. “We used to have so much fun here,” added Emily, and her voice was filled with sadness. I then presented my plan, and without hesitation, they all agreed to help.

(24-25高一下·湖北武汉·期末)He was there every morning, sitting still on the front steps of his house. His bright blue eyes seemed so far away and sad. In the morning light, I could see the shadows carved deep within the lines surrounding his eyes.
Each morning, I walked this route with my daughter to her kindergarten class. As newcomers, we didn’t know many neighbors. One beautiful autumn morning, as we passed his house, my daughter burst out and greeted him with a cheerful “Hi, Mr. Man!” As she was an outgoing child, I wasn’t surprised at her enthusiasm. However, her cheerfulness faded when he didn’t respond. My daughter asked why the man didn’t want to say “Hi” to her. Hesitating for words because I didn’t have an answer, I said simply, “Maybe he’s having a tough day.”
Back home, I did the breakfast dishes and thought about “Mr. Man.” Why was he sad? I wanted to do something to cheer him up. I thought of a few ways to make his day a bit brighter, but nothing seemed special enough.
The next morning, after dropping my daughter off at school, I saw one of my other neighbors cutting her front lawn. After I introduced myself, she invited me to sit and chat on her front porch (门廊) for a while. I learned Teresa was a long-time resident of the neighborhood. She knew everybody and everything. As we drank hot coffee, she talked about almost every neighbor in the community. Teresa was very friendly and cheerful, but when I asked her about the man up the block, she got really serious. “Bob recently lost his wife in a car accident. He hasn’t been the same since.” She went on to tell me that Bob and his wife never had children, and she wasn’t sure if he had any relatives.
The following week seemed to pass by quickly. I talked to my daughter about what we could do to make Mr. Man smile. “Should we bring him cookies or make him a card?” I suggested.

(24-25高一下·山东济南·期末)My wife and I were taking a trip from Charlotte to Hot Springs for a ski time. I had an SUV that I had been driving for many years.
It was a sunny Friday midday when we made it close to our destination. Suddenly I started hearing a. heavy sound from the car, as if someone was pounding against the engine area. “Is that dirt or mud? ” asked my wife. But considering we had been on the highway for 2 hours without hitting anything, I knew it had to be something wrong with my car. It only took a few seconds before I realized the noise came from under the hood (引擎盖) — something had broken loose.
We pulled over on a nearby turn and I cracked the hood open. My engine belt was absolutely torn apart. I quickly saw why: An oil leak (漏) had damaged it and left us stuck on the road.
It wasn’t 5 minutes before a gentleman named Steve stopped and offered help. He drove me to a nearby auto parts store that had a belt and back to the car so that we could get it on. Steve and I quickly got to work. Removing the torn belt was tough — it was stuck deep in the gap between the parts. After removing all the pieces, we tried to put the new belt on. We pulled and dragged, but the belt refused to fit onto the right position.
Disappointed, we accepted defeat. It was clear that we needed a professional to help us. So I called a mobile repairman. After explaining where we were, he said kindly but firmly, “Sorry, it’s Friday rush hour. I can’t get there before 6 p. m. ” My heart sank. (24-25高一下·广东揭阳·期末)In a small Chinese village, a young girl named Mei lived with a deep love for painting. Her artworks, filled with lively colors, caught the beauty of her surroundings. Despite her talent, Mei often struggled with self-doubt. She wondered if her skills were truly excellent or if she was just fortunate.
One day, Mei heard about a painting con test in the town called the “Sunlit Art Challenge”. Determined to prove herself and remove the doubts, Mei quickly signed up for it. The contest made her both excited and nervous. Mei spent countless hours perfecting her painting techniques, pouring her heart and soul into her works.
For the contest, Mei painted a beautiful sunrise over the sea. The sun just started to rise above the horizon (地平线), its bright light beginning to shine over the ocean. The sun’s rays looked like golden light, spreading across the water and making it shine like a huge mirror. As the sun rose higher, it looked like a bright ball of fire, warming the sea and making the waves shine brightly. The sky changed colors too, from a soft blue to bright oranges, pinks and reds. It was like watching the day begin right there on her canvas (画布). Mei’s painting caught the peaceful yet lively scene of the sun’s first rays touching the vast ocean, symbolizing hope.
On the day of the contest, the village square was filled with excitement. Artists from near and far displayed their works. Mei set up her painting, feeling both proud and anxious. As the judges evaluated (评估) Mei’s painting, her heart raced with nervousness. Since their expressions were hard to read, Mei felt like her doubts were right—she wasn’t as good as she hoped.
When the host started to announce the winners, Mei listened with hope and curiosity. But sadly her name wasn’t called. Disappointment washed over her, and she forced a smile, clapping for the winners. After the contest, Mei felt disheartened. She thought her painting had failed to impress anyone, and she lost her motivation to lift her brush. At that time, Mr. Zhang, a villager, approached Mei.

(24-25高一下·陕西商洛·期末)Amellia received her end-of-year exam results — another failure in mathematics. Staring at the numbers and symbols, which were difficult to understand, in the test paper, she had to fight back her tears. She put the test paper aside and lay in the sofa, saying to herself, “I can never do this” in disappointment.
Having seen all this, Amellia’s father came, sitting beside her, “You can, if you think you can,” he said. His voice carried the firm message it always did when repeating his life’s mantra (口头禅).
“That’s easy for you to say,” Amellia groaned (嘟囔), “Math makes no sense to me.”
Her father sighed, removing his glasses. “When I was thirteen, I was asked to stand before the class to read aloud. I couldn’t. The words swam on the page. Dyslexia (阅读困难症) . No one understood it then. But my father told me those same words — ‘You can, if you think you can’ and eventually, I proved him right.”
Amellia wiped her nose, her father’s mantra sounding meaningless to her. Anyway, her problem was not dyslexia; it was math!
Months passed with little progress. Treating her efforts as useless, Amellia even gave up her struggle.
Each of Mr. Thompson’s math classes felt like approaching a battlefield unarmed. Unsurprisingly, she got another D for math in the October exam and she almost gave herself up as hopeless.
That evening, Dad seated Amellia at the kitchen table and placed a cup of tea before her. “I’m poor at math,” she sighed to the steaming liquid. “You are poor at math,” he agreed, surprising her. “But one day you’ll say you were poor at math.” He patted her shoulder. “The question is — do you want that day to come?”

(24-25高一下·广东茂名·期末)It was a sunny Tuesday, and the final math exam was about to start. In Classroom 302, Tom sat nervously at his desk, his leg bouncing up and down. His hands were sweaty, and he kept wiping them on his jeans. Next to him was his best friend. Amy, who gave him a comforting smile, but it did little to calm his nerves. If he failed this time, he would have to take a make-up exam.
Tom had spent all weekend studying, but as the teacher handed out the test papers, a wave of panic washed over him. He scanned the questions, his eyes widening in horror when he saw the last question. It was about a topic he didn't understand at all, and his mind went completely blank.
Halfway through the test, the clock on the wall seemed to tick louder with each passing second. Tom's heart was pounding so hard that he thought everyone around him could hear it. He stole a glance at Amy's paper from the corner of his eye. Her answers were neatly written, and she was already on the last page. The desire to have a quick look at her answers secretly was pulling him in.
His hand trembled as he slowly started to lean over. Just a quick look, he told himself. No one would even notice. But as his stare inched closer to Amy's paper, a sudden cough from the teacher made him move back in his seat. His face burned with guilt, and he felt a knot forming in his stomach.
Amy, who had been focused on her own test, suddenly looked up and caught Tom's eye. Her smile disappeared, replaced by a look of disappointment that cut through him like a knife. Tom felt a lump(哽)rise in his throat. He knew that what he did was wrong, but the fear of failing seemed even worse.

(24-25高一下·广西柳州·期末)I was raised in a music-centered home. I did well in classical music and saved my competitive nature for the stage, not in the athletic field. Everyone knew “Emily doesn’t do sports”. I chose the safety of the cheering roles, far removed from balls. Staying on the sidelines meant I was in control and would never injure myself to look like a fool.
That changed when our family moved to the capital of Turkey, Ankara. The activity of choice in my new community was tennis. If I wanted a social life, I would have to play the sport I had never tried before. I cheered myself on, telling myself that I enjoyed trying new things, and tennis skirts were pretty.
However, it was not just a concept (概念) but also learning to move my body in new and completely foreign ways. With arms, legs, hands and feet all speeding up in different directions, I would celebrate at the end of the each lesson when I hadn’t thrown out my back. My movements were awkward and childish, like a baby just learning to walk, struggling to put one foot in front of the other.
In the following weeks, I spent hours on the court, hitting ball after ball against the practice wall. Though I practiced hard, I didn’t make great progress. I still couldn’t control my body’s movements better. Being blamed for the wrong movement was my daily routine. Without expectation, what waited for me was the moments of frustration because the ball would go wildly off-course.
One day, an elderly man named Mr. Thompson, noticed my struggles. He approached me and offered some gentle advice. “It’s not just about the strength but the rhythm (节奏) and your confidence,” he said with a kind smile. His words were like a guiding light. Under his guidance, I started to focus on the paces of my movements. Gradually, I began to see improvements. The ball started to land where I intended it to more often.

(24-25高一下·广西来宾·期末)When I was six years old, I visited my grandfather’s farm in Kansas and he sent me to the woods to gather pecans (山核桃) for us to enjoy later. The pecans were about the size of a size of a thumb (拇指指甲) and just about the most delicious snack I’d ever had.
However, pecan picking was really tiring and my little hand was only half full after working hard for a long time. I thought I wouldn’t make Grandpa disappointed. Just then something caught my eye. A large brown squirrel (松鼠) was a few feet away. I watched as he picked up a pecan, hurried to a tree, jumped up to the tree trunk (树干) , and disappeared into a large hole. A moment later the squirrel came out of the hole again and climbed down to the ground to pick up another nut. Once again, he took the pecan back to his hiding place inside the hole (洞) of the tree.
“Not so secret anymore,” I thought. I rushed to the tree and looked into the hole. It was filled with pecans! Golden pecans were right there for taking. This was my chance. Handful by hand, I put all of those pecans into my basket. Now it was almost full. I was so proud of myself that I couldn’t wait to show Grandpa all the pecans.
I ran back and shouted, “Grandpa, look at all the pecans!” He looked into the basket and asked, “Well, well, how did you find so many?” I told him how I’d followed the squirrel and taken all the pecans from his hiding place.
Grandpa congratulated me on how smart I’d been in observing the squirrel and his habits. Then he did something that surprised me. He handed the basket back to me and put his arm gently around my shoulders.

(24-25高一下·山西·期末)My friend Clara and I were excited to join our school’s nature exploration camp last weekend. It was the first time we had ever taken part in such an outdoor adventure, and we couldn’t wait to explore the national park. Early Saturday morning, after a short safety briefing from our instructor Mr. Turner, we set off on the hiking trail (小径) with our backpacks, water bottles, and maps. Everyone was full of energy and excitement.
The sun was shining, birds were singing, and the light wind made the air feel fresh and clean. As we walked along the narrow dirt path, we chatted happily and took photos of wildflowers, butterflies, and even a deer in the distance. After two hours of hiking, we reached a hilltop that offered a breathtaking view of the green valley below. We sat on a big rock, ate some snacks, and laughed as we shared our favorite parts of the trip so far.
Then Clara pointed to a spot on the map. “There’s a waterfall nearby,” she said. “Let’s go to find it!” I agreed, and we decided to explore a little deeper into the woods. We told Mr. Turner and he reminded us not to go too far. The deeper we walked, the quieter it became. The tall trees blocked out most of the sunlight, and the path beneath our feet became slippery (滑的) with leaves and moss.
About half an hour later, we heard the sound of rushing water and quickened our pace (步伐),excited to finally see the waterfall. But just as we thought we were close, the sky suddenly darkened. The wind picked up, and the thunder rolled in the distance. I looked at Clara, and for the first time that day, I saw worry on her face. We had no umbrellas and were far from the main trail. One sunny morning, Mia and Leo decided to go on another adventure. They packed some snacks, and a map. As they walked deeper into the forest, they were amazed by the beauty of nature. They met with rare birds and followed a sparkling stream.

Just as they were about to sit down and work out a plan, they heard a strange noise coming from the bushes nearby. It was a low angry sound. (24-25高一下·重庆第一中学·期末)There was a time in my life when I enjoyed violin very much. But when it came to performing in front of other people, I always became nervous and got discouraged frequently with my inability to play as well as I could when practicing alone. The fear of making mistakes made my hand tremble, overshadowing the joy I found in music. I worried that a single wrong note would break the connection I hoped to create with my listeners.
Determined to overcome this fear, I joined my high school orchestra (管弦乐队) as a freshmen. At our first class, the conductor announced that we would have the opportunity to perform in San Antonio, and everyone was excited about the trip.
A few weeks before the actual trip, one of my friends sent me a video of Joshua Bell, a well-known violinist, performing at a subway station. I was particularly fascinated by one piece that he played for the passersby. And he earned $32.17 for that piece.
I was deeply moved by the emotional richness and complexity of the piece, and I felt a strong desire to express its beauty. I imagined myself performing it confidently, just like Bell. I started practicing it like crazy. However, the difficulty of the piece and the constant repetitions and adjustments wore me out to the point where I almost considered just giving up. But it was a worthy challenge and I thought I could master it, with my unique style.
Several weeks later, our orchestra group were staying at a hotel in San Antonio. As we were hanging out, we found a beautiful courtyard just in front of the hotel. (24-25高一下·山东烟台·期末)Ahmad was a good runner and had won many awards. Knowing her son’s desire to win, Ahmad’s mother often reminded him, “Results count, but there are something more important...”
One Monday, Mr. Lim, the PE teacher, announced, “Boys and girls, this Friday there will be a race between the two competitive runners in our class — Ahmad and Bala. The winner will go to the school race.” Hearing that, the two exchanged determined glances (眼神). They knew it would be cool to represent the class.
In the following days, the two of them often went to the playground and stuck to training. Every morning before class, they raced each other around the track, pushing their limits. Bala always tried to start faster, while Ahmad focused on his breathing.
Friday arrived. The entire class gathered at the track to cheer them up. When warming up near the start line, Bala said jokingly, “Ready to lose, Ahmad. I will beat you this time.” Ahmad responded with just a meaningful smile and then concentrated on his own stretches.
“Get set... Go!” The gun went off. Bala started very fast and took the lead right away, Ahmad following him closely. At the first turn, Bala started to get tired from running too fast. He was breathing hard. Ahmad, running smoothly, got closer to him. With 50 meters left, Ahmad and Bala were neck and neck.
The crowd was cheering, and the atmosphere was electric. Everyone shouted, “Ahmad! Bala! Go!”
Bala didn’t want to lose, so he tried to run faster. He leaned (前倾) too far and waved his arms around. Suddenly his foot tripped, and he fell hard on the track. Hearing the noise, Ahmad looked back. He saw Bala lying on the ground, holding his knee.

(24-25高一下·河南郑州·期末)Teacher Appreciation Week arrived in Richmond, but for Katie, it felt like any other Monday — until she found an envelope on her front door. Inside was a note asking her to open her laptop for a surprise.
Curious, she walked to her desk and turned on the screen. A video call started, and Clay, a student she hadn’t seen for ten years, appeared with a big smile. He asked if she remembered him. Katie replied that she did and mentioned he had always loved drawing.
Clay said she was the first person who helped him believe in himself. He recalled a moment in class when Katie asked everyone to draw something they were grateful for. While the other students started right away, he just sat there, unsure. Katie came over and gave him a determined look — a small act that made him feel confident. That moment inspired him to show his gratitude. He also remembered how she took the whole class to their first concert, a Blues Traveler show, and how it broadened their world.
Clay then said he had invited someone special to help thank her. The screen switched to a music studio where the lead singer of Blues Traveler appeared, and sang a heartfelt song. He said Clay had told him how much Katie meant to the whole class and that the song was for her. With tears in her eyes, Katie smiled and said, “That is the coolest thing I have ever seen.”
After the music, Clay reappeared and told her to go outside. Katie stepped onto her front yard and paused at a decorated truck as a crowd applauded. On a big live screen on the side of that truck, dozens of her former students appeared one by one, waving, smiling, and calling out to her.

Gordon was a teenage boy who had a great passion for music. As far as he could remember, melodies (旋律) danced in his mind, and he spent countless hours playing the guitar, lost in a world of his own creation. He hoped to be a guitarist when he grew up. His parents always encouraged him to follow his dream.
It was worth noting that Gordon showed his guitar-playing skills several times at school events. Of course, he wanted to step onto a larger stage.
One day, Gordon heard about a local talent competition with a grand prize: a recording session in a professional studio. His heart raced with excitement. He knew it was his chance to take a step closer to his dream. He practiced every spare moment, pouring his heart into every note. His parents were always by his side to support him. His dad, a mechanic, would fix his guitar whenever it needed tuning, and his mom, a cook, would bring him snacks while he practiced. They believed in him, even when he doubted himself.
The day of the competition arrived. Gordon found his classmate, Luna, who had been learning to play the guitar since childhood, also participated. The stage lights were bright, and Gordon’s hands shook as he walked up to the microphone. He took a deep breath and began to play the guitar. The music flowed from his fingers, and for a moment, he forgot about the audience. He was in his own world, sharing the stories that only his guitar could tell. When he finished, the crowd rose to applaud (鼓掌). He had done it! He had given his best performance ever. He happily walked off the stage and returned to his parents’ side.
His parents smiled and congratulated him. “Well done, boy,” they said. Then they were just there, waiting for the results of the competition eagerly.

When I was in junior high school, my home was only a ten-minute walk from the school. Instead of staying in the dormitory, I went home every noon to have lunch with my mother. These daily lunches were a comforting routine, but little did I know that these lunchtimes would have a profound impact on me.
The school year’s highlight was the annual drama competition. To my joy and surprise, I was selected by my teacher to play the lead role of the princess in the play. It was a dream part, and I was determined to excel. Every day after lunch, my mother would help me practice my lines. However, a frustrating problem arose. No matter how perfectly I delivered my lines in the living room, the moment I stepped onto the vast stage, my mind would go blank. The bright lights and silent, expectant audience seemed to swallow my words whole. After several unsuccessful rehearsals, my teacher, with a sympathetic but firm expression, made a difficult decision. She took me aside, explaining that she believed my clear voice was perfectly suited for the crucial role of the narrator, and asked me to consider switching roles. Her words, kindly delivered, still hurt me especially when I saw my part go to another girl.
I didn’t tell my mother what had happened when I went home for lunch that day. But she sensed something was wrong. After lunch, instead of practicing lines as usual, she invited me for a walk in the yard. The yard was full of beautiful red roses in full bloom. But among the roses grew many white dandelions (蒲公英). I asked my mother why she didn’t remove the dandelions. She replied that she thought every flower had its own beauty, whether it was a delicate rose or a small dandelion. Her simple, accepting words struck a chord (引起共鸣) deep within me.

Jack looked out of the car window when he and his mom passed their old neighborhood. His fingers tapped nervously on his backpack as his mom told him the moving company had found some lost boxes from their recent move, and she could get them that afternoon.
A feeling of hope rose in Jack’ s heart. He asked quietly if Big Dog might be in the boxes. Grandpa had bought the treasured toy dog for him at the fair three years before. Though now eight years old, Jack still needed his old friend back on the shelf above his bed, which had been empty since they moved.
His mom said she wasn’t sure. Her voice trembled as she added that the photo albums were confirmed lost by the company — all those precious pictures of festive occasions, birthday celebrations, and family gatherings were gone. Jack recognized that voice, the one that she used when trying to be strong. He knew what the albums meant to her. She promised to check the boxes carefully before picking him up, giving his shoulder a comforting pat (轻拍)。
All day at school, Jack found it hard to sit still, his eyes constantly darting (瞟) to the clock. During math class, he missed Big Dog’s lovely eyes. At lunch, he recalled Grandma’s warm hug and bright smile from those lost photos. On the playground, his mind wandered back to the joy of their whole family together-laughing and running along the beach under a clear blue sky.
As the art class bell finally rang, Mr. Light announced, “Today you are free to draw anything you wish.” Jack stared at the blank paper, memories rushing back. The sad face of his mom popped up and then an idea came to him — maybe he could find a new way to save those memories.

When Leo and I got to the dock (码头) on Saturday morning, we headed straight for the food stands lining the riverbank. We decided to grab lunch first, and then do a 10 km training run along the river to prepare for next weekend’s marathon. The open-air market was busy. We followed the nice smell of hot bread to a food truck and bought two cheese-topped sandwiches.
Sitting on an old wooden bench (长椅) by the river, we started digging into our lunch. Halfway through, I saw a boy in a red cap standing near us, a camera around his neck and a small blue backpack on his back. Beside him was a woman — maybe his mother — holding a map. They laughed and chatted softly while taking photos of the houses reflected in the water.
Later, we finished our sandwiches, had a break, and walked to the riverside path to warm up. On a nearby bench we noticed the same pair, sitting and sharing an ice-cream. Then a loud bell sounded; a white sightseeing boat was starting to leave. The boatman pulled up the ramp(舷梯). “Last call!” someone shouted. The boy’s eyes went wide. He dropped his half-eaten ice-cream, grabbed his camera, and ran for the boat, “Wait — please wait for us!” he called out. They climbed on as the ramp rose.
I glanced back as we started to stretch. On their bench sat the small blue backpack.
“Leo, look, the blue backpack!” I pointed, “It belongs to the boy!”
I dashed over, grabbed the bag, and we raced to the dock. The boat was already half-way across the river. I held up the bag and waved. The boy turned and saw us, his mouth open, but we couldn’t hear each other.
“Now what?” Leo asked.
“We’ve got to catch up and give it back.” I said. Looking around, he nodded, “There’s the ticket office. Let’s go and check where the boat is heading.”

The annual school sports day was approaching, and for Alex, a shy and slightly overweight tenth grader, it was a source of dread rather than excitement. While his classmates enthusiastically signed up for track events, Alex would quietly retreat to the library, burying himself in books about ancient history — his safe haven. His lack of athletic confidence stemmed from a childhood incident where he had stumbled and fallen during a primary school race, becoming the target of laughter. Since then, he had avoided any physical competition.
Mr. Davies, the perceptive PE teacher, noticed Alex’s pattern of avoidance. One afternoon, he approached Alex in the library. “I’m forming a relay team for the sports day,” Mr. Davies said, his voice calm but firm. “It’s not about being the fastest. It’s about trust, teamwork, and finishing what you start. I believe you have something to contribute.” Alex was taken aback. No teacher had ever expressed such faith in him regarding sports. After a long pause, driven by a mix of fear and a flicker of curiosity, he agreed.
The following weeks were challenging. The relay practices were grueling. Alex’s breathing was heavy, his coordination awkward compared to his teammates — James, Sarah, and Liam, who were all natural athletes. Yet, they never complained. Instead, James would run alongside him during extra practice, Sarah shared tips on breathing rhythm, and Liam always offered a fist bump of encouragement after each attempt. Their patience and unwavering support slowly chipped away at Alex’s wall of self-doubt. He wasn’t just learning to pass a baton; he was learning to trust and be trusted.
The day of the sports day dawned bright and clear. The atmosphere was electric with cheers and music. As Alex stood at his relay position, the third leg, his heart hammered against his ribs. The noise of the crowd seemed to fade into a distant buzz. He watched as Sarah sped toward him, baton outstretched.

【答案】
Mark decided to take action, hoping to encourage his dad to change.

【答案】
So I used Mom’s clothesline (晾衣绳) and cushions (垫子) to offer help in our backyard.

【答案】范文
The next morning, Eric woke up with a heavy heart.

【答案】One possible version:

Twelve-year-old Colin loved going to his grandfather’s house in Puthur, a small village in Tamil Nadu.
“Oh Grandpa, I can’t reach you!”

【答案】A wave carried Colin around, and to his surprise, he found himself next to the familiar tree, Hope.

There was a pond in the center of our community, which had long been a source of joy and comfort.

【答案】(One possible version)

He was there every morning, sitting still on the front steps of his house.

【答案】

That meant we would wait for hours on the cold mountain road and even miss our ski the next day.

Seeing our disappointment, Steve offered a solution.

In a small Chinese village, a young girl named Mei lived with a deep love for painting.

Amellia received her end-of-year exam results — another failure in mathematics.

Something in Dad’s tone inspired Amellia.

It was a sunny Tuesday, and the final math exam was about to start.

【答案】After the exam, Amy waited for Tom outside the classroom.

I was raised in a music-centered home.

【答案】 My improvement also led me to take part in a local tennis team.

When I was six years old, I visited my grandfather’s farm in Kansas and he sent me to the woods to gather pecans (山核桃) for us to enjoy later.

【答案】
“That squirrel worked very hard to gather his winter supply of food,” he said.

My friend Clara and I were excited to join our school’s nature exploration camp last weekend.
We hesitated, unsure whether to turn back or move forward.

【答案】One possible version:
At that moment, I finally felt safe again.

.(24-25高一下·重庆·期末)Once, in a small village at the side of a big forest, lived two best friends, Mia and Leo. They were both curious and adventurous, always exploring the nearby woods together. The forest was filled with towering trees, colorful wildflowers, and all kinds of animals. The villagers often warned them not to go too deep into the forest, as it was said to be dangerous.
One sunny morning, Mia and Leo decided to go on another adventure. They packed some snacks, and a map. As they walked deeper into the forest, they were amazed by the beauty of nature. They met with rare birds and followed a sparkling stream.
But as the day went on, they realized they had gone further than they had ever been before. The trees began to look all the same, and the path they were on seemed to disappear. Mia started to feel worried. “Leo, I think we’re lost,” she said, her voice trembling (颤抖) a bit. Leo tried to stay calm. “Don’t worry, Mia. We have the map. We’ll find our way back,” he replied, though he was also feeling anxious inside.
They tried to go back exactly the way they have come, but every path seemed familiar yet different. The forest, once a place of wonder, now felt deathlike and unwelcoming. The sun was beginning to set, and the shadows grew longer. Mia and Leo knew they had to do something before night fell.
Just as they were about to sit down and work out a plan, they heard a strange noise coming from the bushes nearby. It was a low angry sound. Mia held Leo by his arm, her eyes wide with fear. “What was that?” she whispered. Leo shook his head, not knowing the answer. They gathered their courage and carefully approached the bushes.

【答案】
To their surprise, Mia and Leo found an injured hiker lying there.

There was a time in my life when I enjoyed violin very much.
The friend who sent me the video and I were talking about how Joshua Bell’s performance at the subway station went viral on the social media.

【答案】Suddenly, he suggested that I play for the hotel customers in the courtyard.

【答案】One possible version

Teacher Appreciation Week arrived in Richmond, but for Katie, it felt like any other Monday — until she found an envelope on her front door.

Katie stood still, not expecting such a surprise.

【答案】 However, something unexpected happened.

【答案】Possible version
I could no longer hold back the flood of sad tears.
