Having reached an agreement, the two brothers hurried back to their grandfather’s house for tools, and then raced to the woods. Among the trees, Max suggested selecting a straight one — free of knots to avoid scratching Grandpa’ s hands. Leo nodded his head. They spent hours crafting a smooth-textured, perfectly sized cane, convinced that Grandpa would cherish it. Paragraph 2     Filled with joy, the brothers presented it to Grandpa. As he took it, his hands trembled with delight. Leo voiced their hope that the cane would aid him in standing and exploring the woods alongside them. Grandpa smiled, determined to give it a try, not to disappoint his grandsons. Holding the cane, he stood up, mustering strength in his legs. All present were astonished and elated, tears welling up at the corners of Grandpa’s eyes. It was at the moment that the grandsons appreciated the power of family affection. Hello, international friends club, can I help you? If I teach students the self development techniques i've taught adults, I can help produce the risk of harmful mental patterns forming. I originally wrote about career skills. Then readers asked for advice on relationships, how to communicate and build trust. So I wrote about that too. Eventually I realize that everything connects back to emotional intelligence, meaning your ability to manage emotions. But this isn't just personal growth. It's how we create a Better world when we improve ourselves. We improve the lives of those around us. Everyone has struggles, some dislike responsibility, and others struggle with honesty. Personally, I could never ask others for support. In psychology, these struggles are often called shadows, or the hidden parts we try to ignore. But these shadows are just doorways to Better versions of ourselves. And trust me, facing them is often less frightening than we imagine today. We'll practice together using methods from my book. Chances are that if you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, not everyone around you will be ready to jump on that bandwagon. I experienced this when I started switching to a zero waste lifestyle five years ago, as I was living with my parents, and I continue to experience this with my husband, as he is not completely zero waste like me. I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household. Zero waste was a radical lifestyle movement a few years back. I remember showing my parents a video of Bea Johnson, sharing how cool I thought it would be to buy groceries with jars, and have so little trash. A few days later, I came back with my first jars of zero waste groceries, and my dad commented on how silly it was for me to carry jars everywhere. It came off as a bit discouraging. Yet as the months of reducing waste continued, I did what I could that was within my own reach. I had my own bedroom, so I worked on removing things I didn’t need. Since I had my own toiletries (洗漱用品), I was able to start personalising my routine to be more sustainable. I also offered to cook every so often, so I portioned out a bit of the cupboard for my own zero waste groceries. Perhaps your household won’t entirely make the switch, but you may have some control over your own personal spaces to make the changes you desire. As you make your lifestyle changes, you may find yourself wanting to speak up for yourself if others comment on what you’re doing, which can turn itself into a whole household debate. If you have individuals who are not on board, your words probably won’t do much and can often leave you feeling more discouraged. So here is my advice: Lead by action. 24.What do the underlined words “jump on that bandwagon” mean in the first paragraph? A.Share an apartment with you. B.Join you in what you’re doing. C.Transform your way of living. D.Help you to make the decision. 25.What can we learn about the author’s early zero-waste experience? A.It’s vital to communicate in time to clear misunderstandings. B.It’s worthwhile to encourage everyone to start with small things. C.It’s possible to encounter criticism when changing one’s lifestyle. D.It’s necessary to use reusable containers for environmental protection. 26.To practice a zero-waste lifestyle, the author ________. A.debated with her family when questioned B.managed the waste for the entire household C.embraced simple living to foster sustainability D.encouraged her family to use eco-friendly products 27.Which of the following best describes the author? A.Determined and strategic. B.Persistent and cooperative. C.Kind-hearted and enthusiastic. D.Empathetic and innovative. C Recently, research on how a new virtual reality (VR) experience educated primary children about the fire disasters was done. It was developed by the University of South Australia, aiming to educate children to learn how to be safer in a fire. Focusing on children aged 10-12 years, the new VR experience presents a situation where children are tasked to look after a friend’s dog just before a fire event begins to unfold. They participate in a series of problem-solving activities to help save and protect themselves and the dog. The findings showed that more than 80 per cent of children reported that they felt more confident of calmly evaluating the options and making wise decisions to protect themselves from a fire. This is especially necessary considering that 91 per cent of participants originally lacked any knowledge of fires, and 67 per cent had said that they were too young to make safety decisions in a fire. The researchers believed such VR experiences had the potential to educate and empower the young. “As children born in digital times, they are attracted by such technology and they can experience events realistically yet within the safe environment,” said Delene Weber, one of the researchers. “Well-designed VR can provide an opportunity for children to apply newly acquired knowledge, strengthen their learnt concepts, and enable immediate feedback (反馈) — all are incredibly valuable learning tools.” Meanwhile, because children have fewer life experiences, aren’t as physically strong, and are less likely to have learnt much about fire safety, they’re often most at risk. Yet the ability for children to contribute to fire safety at their household should not be underestimated. “Children do not need to be passive victims of disasters and with purpose-built virtual reality experiences such as these, we can help empower children to understand the risks and realize they can help,” said Weber. 28.How does the new VR experience try to educate children? A.By introducing a virtual friend to them. B.By analyzing the causes of a fire event. C.By letting them solve virtual problems. D.By guiding them to ask a dog for help. 29.What did the result of the research about VR experiences show? A.Many children found it hard to adapt to them. B.They could greatly help ensure children’s safety. C.They benefited children with knowledge of fires. D.Most children had a misunderstanding about them. 30.What does Weber think of the new VR experiences? A.Unrealistic. B.Risky. C.Cheap. D.Important. 31.What can be the most suitable title for the text? A.VR experiences educate kids to survive a fire B.VR experiences make learning easier for kids C.VR education appeals to the young generation D.VR technology makes no sense in fighting a fire D A new research paper published in the journal eLife shows how ants keep traffic flowing by changing their behavior to meet changing conditions. For their experiments, researchers from the University of Toulouse and the University of Arizona focused on Argentine ants that frequently move from one colony (聚居地) to another depending on where the food is. Exploring the Argentine ants’ gift for fast travel, the researchers built bridges connecting their colonies. The bridges varied in width from a fifth to three-quarters of an inch. The colonies, too, were of different sizes, ranging from 400 to more than 25,000 ants. Then they sat back and monitored the traffic. To their surprise, even when those narrower bridges reached near capacity (容量), there were no 20-ant pile-ups. Indeed, there was never a hold-up. Traffic remained steady because ants were able to adjust to the change of road conditions. At some point, when the bridges got really busy, ants moved not so much as individuals but rather like water flowing in an ever widening stream. “When the number of ants on the bridge increased, ants seemed to be able to assess the situation and adjusted their speed accordingly to avoid making the traffic flow stop,” the authors note in a news release. “Moreover, ants kept themselves from entering a crowded path and made sure that the bridge was never too crowded to cross.” Argentine ants are extremely effective in getting to where they need to be in a hurry. The lesson for humans? The traffic problem may lie in our inability to adjust our driving habits for the good of the whole. “Traffic jams are everywhere in human society where individuals are pursuing their own personal objectives,” the authors write. “In contrast, ants share a common goal: the survival of the colony, so they are expected to act cooperatively to optimize (优化) food return.” 32.Why can ants keep traffic flowing according to the text? A.They always change their paths. B.They adjust to the road conditions. C.They communicate in a unique way. D.They never hurry to their destination. 33.What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A.The results of the experiments. B.The purpose of the experiments. C.The preparations of the experiments. D.The requirements of the experiments. 34.What does the author expect humans to do in the last paragraph? A.To raise traffic safety awareness. B.To give up individuals’ ambitions. C.To find solutions to present problems. D.To act for the good of the whole society. 35.What is the best title for the text? A.Watch ants cross the roads. B.Explore interesting ants’ gifts. C.Argentine ants move on the roads. D.Ants teach us how to avoid traffic jams. How to Stay Focused Staying focused can help you complete a variety of professional and personal tasks, from studying for a test to finishing your work an hour early. Give yourself a time limit for each task. 38 Next to each item on the list, write about how long it’ll take you to complete each task. Be realistic about this judgement. Then, try to complete each task within the range of each time limit. Make time for breaks during the day. Though it may sound counter-intuitive (反直觉的) to add relaxation into your daily schedule, this step will actually help you stay focused. 39 This will help you get more energetic to finish the task, give you a break to rest your eyes, and will give you some time to prepare for the next task ahead. 40 Many people incorrectly think that multi- tasking is great because it allows you to deal with a variety of tasks at the same time. To the contrary, multi-tasking actually confuses your brain and slows you down, keeping you from being fully engaged in any one task. A.Prioritize your tasks. B.Multi- task less to make you focused. C.This will also keep you focused on one task at a time. D.Managing your time goes hand in hand with making a to-do list. E.You should take at least a 5-10 minute break for every hour of work. F.It’s better to save the easier or more manageable tasks for the end of the day. G.Remove anything that can take your attention away and isn’t related to the task. A message caught me by surprise. Leo and his brother Max burst with joy and kept talking about the trip at the thought of visiting their grandparents again. The long-awaited day came at last. ‘With the whole family all packed and ready, they headed eagerly right away to their grandparents’ small house. On the way, the brothers chatted excitedly about the fun times they’d shared with their grandparents before. At last a cozy small blue house with a high white chimney came into sight gradually. Behind it lay the quiet forest holding their sweet good memories with Grandpa, They pulled up at the driveway where Grandma stood at the end waiting happily with a big smile. Leo and Max each hugged Grandma tightly, then rushed quickly into the living room, yelling “Grandpa, we’re home!” Seeing them walk in, Grandpa was over the moon. He tried to stand with all his strength from his chair but failed, a helpless look flashing across his face. Grandma sighed softly — she had thought more than once lately that a cane (拐杖) would help him, though she hadn’t mentioned it yet, knowing how stubborn he was. Grandma explained his health had worsened fast lately and he might never stand up alone again. But Grandpa insisted, “I can!” Still in his boyish way. Mum and the grandparents were delighted to reunite after such a long time, sitting together and chatting about what had happened recently. Bored with the adults’ slow conversation, the brothers wandered into the green forest. Tall trees stretched high skyward, thick branches crossing overhead while young ones standing straight like brave guards. Grandpa was once a great explorer full of wisdom. He could tell birds’ origins easily by their calls. Trees, birds, lizards, small bugs… How many happy moments they’d shared with him here before! Worried Grandpa couldn’t stand up, Leo said, “We need to cheer him up.” “Grandpa loves birds — let’s catch one for him?” Max suggested softly. “But he hates birds being caged!” Leo shook his head firmly. Then a clever thought hit Leo suddenly. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Filled with joy, the brothers presented it to Grandpa. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2 / 2 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高一下学期期末模拟卷01(人教版) 英 语·全解全析 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Now, I’m bringing this mission to the youth. If I teach students the self-development techniques I’ve taught adults, I can help reduce the risk of harmful mental patterns forming! I originally wrote about career skills. Then, readers asked for advice on relationships — how to communicate and build trust, so I wrote about that, too. Eventually, I realized that everything connects back to emotional intelligence, meaning your ability to manage emotions. But this isn’t just personal growth. It’s how we create a better world. When we improve ourselves, we improve the lives of those around us. Everyone has struggles. Some dislike responsibility, and others struggle with honesty. Personally, I could never ask others for support. In psychology, these struggles are often called “shadows”, or the hidden parts we try to ignore. But these shadows are just doorways to better versions of ourselves. And trust me, facing them is often less frightening than we imagine! Today, we’ll practice together using methods from my book. But before that, let me tell you about my journey and how I got here today. A Alaska Railroad #14 of 297 things to do in Anchorage, Alaska About Completed in 1923, the iconic Alaska Railroad connects many of Alaska’s most popular destinations: Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali National Park, Fairbanks, Girdwood, Seward, Whittier and the Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop. 根据划线部分前文“Chances are that if you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, not everyone around you will be ready to (如果你想过一种更可持续的生活方式,可能不是你周围的每个人都准备好)”及第二段中的“I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household. (在这个过程中,我学到了一些东西,我希望如果你在一个不总是支持你的家庭中尽最大努力去弄清楚如何做出改变,你会感到鼓舞。)”可知,如果你想过一种更可持续的生活方式,可能不是你周围的每个人都准备好加入这一运动。由此推知,划线词组与B选项“Join you in what you’re doing .(加入你正在做的事情。)” 根据第三段“I remember showing my parents a video of Bea Johnson, sharing how cool I thought it would be to buy groceries with jars, and have so little trash A few days later, I came back with my first jars of zero waste groceries, and my dad commented on how silly it was for me to carry jars everywhere. It came off as a bit discouraging. I had my own bedroom, so I worked on removing things I didn’t need. Since I had my own toiletries (洗漱用品), I was able to start personalising my routine to be more sustainable. I also offered to cook every so often, so I portioned out a bit of the cupboard for my own zero waste groceries. (然而,随着几个月的减少浪费,我尽我所能做到自己力所能及的事情。我有自己的卧室,所以我开始清理我不需要的东西。因为我有自己的洗漱用品,所以我能够开始个性化我的日常习惯,使其更可持续。我还偶尔主动做饭,所以我在橱柜里留出一部分放我自己的零浪费杂货。)”可知,为了践行零浪费的生活方式,作者接受了简单的生活,以促进可持续性。故选C项。 27.推理判断题。根据第二段“I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household. (不过,在这一过程中我学到了一些东西,我希望如果你在努力想办法在一个并不总是支持你的家庭中做出改变,你会从中受到鼓舞。)”以及最后一段“So here is my advice: Lead by action. (所以我的建议是:以身作则。)”可知,作者在面对家人不支持自己过零浪费生活方式时,没有放弃,而是继续坚持,并且给出了自己的建议,由此可推测出作者是坚定的且有策略的。A选项“Determined and strategic. (坚定且有策略的。)”符合题意。故选A项。 C Recently, research on how a new virtual reality (VR) experience educated primary children about the fire disasters was done. 根据第三段“The findings showed that more than 80 per cent of children reported that they felt more confident of calmly evaluating the options and making wise decisions to protect themselves from a fire. 根据第一段“A new research paper published in the journal eLife reveals how ants keep traffic flowing by changing their behavior to meet changing conditions.(一篇发表在《eLife》杂志上的新研究论文揭示了蚂蚁如何通过改变行为来满足不断变化的道路状况来保持交通顺畅)”和第三段“Traffic remained steady because ants were able to adjust to the change of road conditions.(交通保持稳定,因为蚂蚁能够适应道路状况的变化)”可知,蚂蚁是通过改变自身行为适应道路状况来保持交通顺畅的。故选B项。 33. 根据第二段“Exploring the Argentine ants’ gift for fast travel, the researchers built bridges connecting their colonies. (为了探索阿根廷蚂蚁快速旅行的天赋,研究人员在它们的殖民地之间建造了桥梁)”和“Then they sat back and monitored the traffic.(然后他们坐下来监视交通状况)”,并结合全段内容可知,本段主要是在介绍实验前的准备工作。故选C项。 34.推理判断题。根据最后一段“The lesson for humans? The traffic problem may lie in our inability to adjust our driving habits for the good of the whole.(人类的教训是什么?交通问题可能在于我们没有能力为了整体利益而调整自己的驾驶习惯)”和“In contrast, ants share a common goal: the survival of the colony, thus they are expected to act cooperatively to optimize (优化) food return.(相比之下,蚂蚁有一个共同的目标:群体的生存,因此它们被期望合作行动以优化食物回报)”可知,作者希望人类能向蚂蚁学习,为了整个社会的利益而行动。故选D项。 35. 根据第一段“A new research paper published in the journal eLife reveals how ants keep traffic flowing by changing their behavior to meet changing conditions.(一篇发表在《eLife》杂志上的新研究论文揭示了蚂蚁如何通过改变行为来满足不断变化的道路状况来保持交通顺畅)”和最后一段“The lesson for humans? (人类的教训是什么?)”,并结合全文内容可知,本文主要讲述了蚂蚁避开交通堵塞的天赋值得人类学习,它教给了人们避免交通堵塞的方法,所以“Ants teach us how to avoid traffic jams (蚂蚁教我们如何避免交通堵塞)”是最佳标题。故选D项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Stay Focused Staying focused can help you complete a variety of professional and personal tasks, from studying for a test to finishing your work an hour early. There are various practical steps you can take to help yourself focus better. Make a to-do list. Making a to-do list at the beginning of every day or week can make you feel more focused and positive to continue your work. You will feel more fulfilled when you check those tasks off your list and move on to the next one. 36 Organize your workspace. Having a clean space can help you focus and get your work done with much more concentration. 37 Clean off your desk to include only the things you need to work on, leaving just a few photos or souvenirs to help you relax a bit. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    Then a clever thought hit Leo suddenly. “Why not make a cane out of a young tree?” Max thought it was a good idea. Filled with joy, the brothers presented it to Grandpa. As he took it, his hands trembled with delight. Leo voiced their hope that the cane would aid him in standing and exploring the woods alongside them. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Filled with joy, the brothers presented it to Grandpa. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第1页(共6页) 试题 第2页(共6页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
