David

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human? Recently, China has made a big step toward self-driving technology. Since August, driverless taxis can run on roads in Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
Why do we develop self-driving cars? Self-driving cars have many advantages. They use computers with many cameras which can sense all the objects close to the car and give the computers another route (路线). Then the car can take people to the place where they want to go. For disabled or blind people, self-driving cars can also help them get around more easily.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than 1.35 million people are killed on roads around the world. It’s reported that self-driving cars could reduce road accidents by 90 percent. The main cause of car accidents is human error (错误). By using computers, self-driving cars don’t make poor decisions or lose attention like humans do.
But self-driving cars aren’t perfect. If something unexpected on the road happens, self-driving cars can’t react as fast as a human driver can. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self-driving cars wouldn’t see the lines on the road easily. It might lead to an accident. The car’s computer system would be broken by someone, causing it to crash (碰撞) or change its direction.
It’s clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars common and safe on our roads. And China is taking the lead in making this happen.
32. In which cities can people take driverless taxis now?
A. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. B. Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
C. Nanjing, Hangzhou and Suzhou. D. Tianjin, Dalian and Qingdao.
33. What is the main cause of car accidents according to the passage?
A. Bad weather. B. Car trouble. C. Human error. D. Poor road conditions.
34. What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. What to do when there is bad weather.
B. The advantage of having a human driver.
C. How to deal with the traffic accidents.
D. The weakness of self-driving cars.
35. What can we know from the passage?
A. Self-driving cars are widely used around the world.
B. Disabled people can’t use self-driving cars at all.
C. Bad weather has no influence on self-driving cars.
D. China is trying to make self-driving cars safer and more common.
D
Have you ever heard of the saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”? It includes real wisdom (智慧) about how to live well through “patience”. Developing patience helps us stay calm, make wiser choices and achieve our goals more easily. The good news is that patience is a skill we can all learn and improve with simple daily habits.
One good way to build patience is to stop for a while. When feeling angry, try taking three deep breaths or counting to ten slowly. This short break gives your mind time to become calm and choose a better answer. For example, if a classmate says something bad, waiting for a few seconds before answering often leads to a wiser talk instead of an argument.
Another effective (有效的) way is to break big tasks into smaller, easy parts. When facing a difficult task or a long project, focus on doing just one part at a time. For example, finishing reading a thick book will become easier if you aim to finish one chapter (章) per day. Similarly, …This way, they reach their goals step by step.
We can also practice patience by getting used to waiting. Next time you are in line or waiting for a friend, don’t check your phone right away. Instead, notice what is happening around you or just relax. These small moments help your mind accept delays (延迟) without being bored.
Practicing these simple methods often can help us develop patience and make life more peaceful. However, in today’s fast-paced world, developing patience faces new challenges. Although modern technology, like smartphones and AI, is easy to use, it has drawbacks. For example, using AI translation tools may stop us from learning a new language well. It makes us want immediate results, and that is bad for building patience.
As our world keeps getting faster, learning to be patient may be more important than ever. So, let’s start developing our patience from now on.

In many countries of the world, people are saying, “We must do something about our rubbish because it really makes us worried. We don’t want our world to become a big landfill site (垃圾填埋场).”
In Ireland, to reduce plastic bags, the government decided to make people pay for them. Since 2002, Irish people have been paying for the bags they take home from the shops. Of course, they soon stopped buying new bags and started taking bags with them when shopping.
Some countries have made even bigger changes. In 2006, the people of Zanzibar decided to stop making plastic bags. They were worried the bags were killing fish and sea animals. They also said nobody could bring plastic bags into the country. Soon there were no plastic bags in the country.
One of the most exciting recycling ideas is Freecycle. It helps the environment by recycling useful things. It has grown around the world. People join a Freecycle group because they are looking for things or have things that they want to give to other people. Perhaps they have a chair they do not need any more, or they want a camera. They leave a message on the Internet to tell people what they want or what they are going to give. Nobody buys or sells anything—people give things to other people who want them.
Recycling is important and sometimes it is exciting too, but it is only one part of the answer. Using less and reusing are also important solutions to the problem of rubbish. For example, people can bring their own water bottles instead of buying plastic ones. They can also reuse old clothes as cleaning rags or shopping bags. These small actions help reduce rubbish.

put out“扑灭”、sell out“卖光”、take out“取出”均不符合语境。
although“虽然”、before“在……之前”、if“如果”均逻辑不通。
【10题详解】
句意:坚强不是从不跌倒,而是一次次重新站起来。
根据全文风筝掉落又重新高飞的寓意,此处表示跌倒后再次奋起、重新站起,rising“升起、奋起”符合主旨。leaving“离开”、singing“唱歌”、thinking“思考”均不符合语境。

Hello Jack,
This is the best holiday ever. We’re staying in a wooden house high up in the mountains. The mountains are amazing—there’s snow on some of them! Every day I go for a long walk and take photos of the wild flowers. It’s cool here at night and I sleep under a lovely warm blanket!
Hope you’re happy.
Holly

Hi Jack,
I’m staying with my aunt in Edinburgh. It’s my first time in Scotland, and it’s wonderful! I’m reading lots of books by a great Edinburgh writer, Robert Louis Stevenson. Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde is my favorite. It is a very scary story! I’ll share it with you when I come home!

B 33. C 34. D 35.
