take up意为“开始从事”,take up a hobby是固定搭配,符合语境。

后文“she couldn’t control the brush well”提示,初学书法对她来说并不容易。

These days, many kids like collecting special things called “Goods (谷子)”. Fans often call them “guzi”. Among these Goods, the most popular is the badge (徽章), known as “baji”.
These badges are usually small and round, and there are pictures of characters from famous cartoons on them. However, not every company (公司) can sell badges. Only some cartoon companies have the right to sell those badges, and their prices differ a lot. Usually, common badges might cost 15 to 30 yuan.
Why do teenagers love badges so much? First, wearing a badge shows their love for a cartoon. It makes them feel close to the characters they like. Second, badges help them make friends. At anime conventions, badge lovers talk to each other, trade badges, and meet people with the same hobbies. They know they’re part of a big group.
But sometimes this hobby can cause problems. Some fans spend too much money—they even use their breakfast money to buy expensive badges. Others get upset if they can’t get the badges they want, or if someone else has a better collection.
Collecting “baji” and other kinds of “guzi” can be a fun hobby. But it’s also important to remember not to spend too much money or get too stressed about it. After all, the real magic of cartoons is in the stories and the feelings they give us, not just in the badges we collect.
19. What is the most popular “guzi” among kids?
A. Toys from cartoons. B. Posters of famous cartoons. C. Badges known as “baji”.
20. Which sentence has the same meaning of “right” as that in Paragraph 2?
A. Most people are used to using their right hands.
B. We should be able to right the wrongs of our past.
C. You have no right to stop me going into this public park.
21. The third paragraph tells us ________.
A. why teenagers love “baji”
B. the reason for the high prices of “baji”
C. the problems caused by collecting “baji”
22. What’s the main purpose of this passage?
A. To introduce different kinds of famous cartoons.
B. To explain why teenagers are crazy about Goods.
C. To advise teenagers not to get lost in collecting badges.
C 20. C 21. A 22. C
第一段指出最流行的谷子类型:“Among these Goods, the most popular is the badge (徽章), known as ‘baji’.”,这直接说明在孩子们中间,被称为“吧唧”的徽章是最受欢迎的谷子。
第二段解释了“right”的含义:“Only some cartoon companies have the right to sell those badges...”,这里的“right”指的是“权利/许可”。选项C“You have no right to stop me...”
第三段告诉我们:“Why do teenagers love badges so much? First... Second...”,这一段主要列举了青少年喜爱“吧唧”的两个主要原因:一是表达对卡通的喜爱,二是帮助结交朋友。
【22题详解】
最后一段阐明了文章的主要目的:“But it’s also important to remember not to spend too much money or get too stressed about it...”,作者旨在建议青少年不要过度沉迷于收集徽章,而要关注卡通本身带来的故事和情感,即建议理性消费,不要迷失在收集徽章中。
C
We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we have lunch breaks at school. However, is this the healthiest way to eat? Should we eat three meals a day? Before thinking about how often we should eat, scientists ask us to think about when we should eat. For example, some people may overeat at night, which is not a good time to eat too much food.
Intermittent fasting (间歇性断食) means stopping eating food for many hours. It becomes a popular topic of the research. It allows our stomach to rest. It helps our body to clear broken proteins (分解的蛋白质), and protects us from many diseases.
But if intermittent fasting is a healthy way to eat, how many meals should we eat every day? Some experts think that it is best to have one meal a day. David Levitsky, a teacher at Cornell University, does this himself. Wouldn’t one meal a day make us feel hungry (饥饿的)? Not always, because hunger is often a feeling. Sometimes, we may think we are hungry, but in fact, we aren’t.
Another expert, Manoogan, doesn’t agree with it. He says it can make our blood glucose rise To keep our blood glucose low, we need to eat at set times. “Two or three meals a day is the best. And we should eat most of our food earlier in the day. Then our bodies can use the energy from our food all day, and not save it as fat. ”
Even if intermittent fasting is the healthiest way to eat, it may not be a good idea for everyone. If you want to try it, remember to check with your doctor first.
23. What do scientists ask us to think about in Paragraph 1?
A. The food for lunch. B. The right time to eat. C. The healthiest way to eat
24. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Too much sugar. B. Intermittent fasting. C. Eating three meals a day.
25. What can we know from the text?
A. All of us can try intermittent fasting if we want.
B. Eating most of our food earlier can help lower (减少) our fat.
C. All the experts think having one meal a day is the best way to eat.
26. In which unit of the textbook can you read the text?
A. Unit 1 My Dream Job
B. Unit 2 The World of Art
C. Unit 3 Sound Body, Sound Mind
B 24. B 25. B 26. C
第一段指出科学家让我们思考的问题:“Before thinking about how often we should eat, scientists ask us to think about when we should eat.”,说明科学家让我们思考合适的进食时间。
第四段专家提到:“we should eat most of our food earlier in the day. Then our bodies can use the energy from our food all day, and not save it as fat.”,说明白天多进食可以帮助身体消耗能量、减少脂肪堆积,因此B项表述正确;A项并非所有人都适合间歇性断食;C项专家观点并不统一,有人支持一日一餐,有人反对。

It seemed that she had been lying there for over one day.

She kept repeating that she wanted to get up, but I said that she should stay there because she could have broken her back. I kept talking to her until the ambulance (救护车) arrived. I talked for at least half an hour!”
Simon and Liam added, “We were very scared at first, but we ran to call an ambulance. We’re glad we helped. Or she might have died.”
The three children have been to the hospital to see Mrs. Hauton. Alison said, “We went to see the lady on the weekend. She still wasn’t sure why she was in the hospital and didn’t remember us. She looked a lot better, though.”

Free-time activities play an important role in our lives. They make our lives fun.
As for me, my favourite free-time activity is reading. I started it when I was seven years old. I still remember my first time reading a storybook. Although it was a little difficult, I found it very interesting. Now, I read for half an hour every day. I like reading because it not only opens up my eyes but also helps me relax after a busy day. What’s more, reading makes me think deeply and helps me grow up.
