China, the birthplace of paper money, is now leading the way to a cashless society. About 1,400 years ago, during the Tang Dynasty, people began using paper as a promise to pay for objects. Later, the Northern Song Dynasty made the first official paper money. In recent 10 years, paper money has become less common, and China is now leading the cashless trend(趋势).
Living in China, I never take cash or a wallet. But when I
travel abroad, I have to use cash again. That is a problem because of spending limits and big bills. This change is even harder for young people born between 1981 and 1999. They almost never use cash in their adult lives. However, some people still take cash in China because they feel safer, worrying about app problems or no phone signal (信号). For festivals and gifts, people still use cash in red packets, but young people now like digital red packets better. They can spend the money directly from their app wallets.
Unlike Sweden and Norway, which use card-based cashless systems, China’s cashless life is built around mobile phones. There is even facial recognition (人脸识别) payment that does not need a phone at all. Some places in the world do not want to accept this convenience because of trust problems. But people in China trust their government and happily welcome this easy cashless trend.
19. When did Chinese people begin to make paper money?
A. During the Tang Dynasty. B. During the Northern Song Dynasty.
C. In recent ten years. D. Between1981 and 1999.
20. Why do some people still carry cash in China?
A. Because they don’t know how to use phones.
B. Because they like using large bills every day.
C. Because they don’t like like digital red packets.
D. Because they worry about app problems or no phone signal.
21. What does the underlined word “convenience” mean in the last paragraph?
A. Something difficult and boring. B. something modern and creative.
C. Something easy and comfortable. D. something expensive and useless.
22. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The popular use of digital red packets. B.The cashless situation of foreign countries.
C. The long history of Chinese paper money. D. The development of China’s cashless society.

In Jianhu County, Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, there is a traditional performing art called Jianhu Acrobatics(杂技). It has a history of over 2,000 years and was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产)in 2008.

They do amazing acts like handstand stacking(倒立叠罗汉), jumping through hoops and spinning plates. Each move looks easy but needs years of hard training. They need to control their bodies perfectly.
However, this art once faced difficulties. Fewer young people wanted to learn because training was too tiring. Luckily, local acrobatic troupes and inheritors are working hard to protect it. They open training classes in schools and put on shows for the public.
In recent years, Jianhu Acrobatics has won many international prizes. For example, a performance called “Refining — Handstand Skills” won gold medals in Russia and Monaco in 2024. Also, this art appeared on CCTV’s popular show “Intangible Cultural Heritage in China” twice, in 2023 and 2025. Millions of people watched it.
Today, Jianhu Acrobatics is still alive and popular. It carries the spirit of hard work and shows the unique charm of Yancheng culture.
23. Which of the following is the correct sentence to fill in the blank ____▲____?
A. Performers today use tools to make the acts more exciting.
B. In the past, local people created acrobatics from daily work.
C. The local government built some training centers in the 20th century.
D. Today many young people show their interest in traditional Chinese folk art.
24. Why do Jianhu Acrobatics need years of hard training even though they look easy?
A. Because using different tools can make the acts look simple.
B. Because the moves are based on ancient festival celebrations.
C. Because using human bodies without tools needs perfect control.
D. Because the moves come from the working steps of ancient people.
25. What do people do to protect Jianhu Acrobatics?
A. They perform on CCTV’s popular shows once every two years.

四、书面表达(计20分)
Honesty is one of the most important qualities in life. To me, being honest means always telling the truth and never cheating, even when no one is watching. Honest people are always trustworthy.
I once had an experience about being honest. In a math exam, I got my paper back and found that the teacher gave me two extra points by mistake. I felt happy at first, but soon I knew it was wrong. So I went to the teacher and told her the truth. She corrected my grade but praised me for my honesty.
This experience greatly influenced me. I learned that being honest makes me feel peaceful inside. Although I lost two points, I won something more valuable — self-respect. Now I always try to be an honest person in my daily life.
