No matter how you do it, booking holidays can be a headache. It used to require a visit to a travel agent (代理人). Later, online travel agents appeared, allowing people to plan trips from the comfort of their own homes. With the help of AI, now they can easily deal with the brain work, too. For example, Trip.com, has brought out TripGenie.
Many people expect AI to free them from boring work. This may explain why AI trip planners are drawing attention. They’re perfect for those who go mad when booking holidays.
But are these AI booking agents reliable (可靠的)? Some have tried them out. When a couple asked TripGenie to find a romantic hotel in Paris, its top suggestion was by the airport. “Well, perhaps the AI agent is still in its early days.” they concluded.
Tools like TripGenie are facing competition from AI companies, too. Open AI, for example, is testing its Operator. The AI bot is supposed to “mimic (模仿) a human’s use of the Web”. When asked about that Paris trip, it suggests places with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Some researchers think Open AI might soon disrupt the online travel agents’ market.
One problem with AI booking agents is that they make mistakes. Air Canada got in trouble after its chat bot wrongly promised a user a discount (折扣). Could AI agents be fooled into booking a more expensive flight? Would anyone feel safe giving his or her credit card information to an AI agent then?
AI agents may also have difficulty understanding the variety of people’s tastes. Someone may think it’s not romantic to choose a metal tower at all. One couple—the groom Icelandic and the bride French—recently got married on a flight between their countries. For them, a hotel room by Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport might have suited them better.

A. Because they never make mistakes.

C. Because they understand personal tastes well.
D. Because they can help people avoid boring work.

C. By asking questions. D. By having a comparison.
28. What does the underlined word “disrupt” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. change greatly B. give up C. take the place of D. break into
29. What can we infer from Paragraphs 5 and 6?
A. AI agents always offer a discount.
B. AI agents never book flights with higher prices.
C. AI agents can make users’ credit card information safe.
D. AI agents have problems meeting different people’s tastes.
30. What can be the best title of the passage?
A. What can AI do for us? B. Is AI a good choice to book holidays?
C. How does AI help people book holidays? D. Why is AI popular with people today?
C
Jim Hawkins hid behind a big barrel. His heart was beating fast when listening to the dangerous pirates (海盗) talking.
“Listen, my friends,” Long John Silver said quietly “Tomorrow morning, when we reach the island, we will take the treasure and kill anyone who tries to stop us.”
“But what about the boy and the other gentlemen on this ship?” asked one of the pirates nervously.
“Ha!” Silver said angrily. “They don’t know our real plans. Once we find where the treasure is, they will be useless to us.”
Jim felt very scared because he knew how dangerous they were. These men, in fact, were bad sailors and were planning to kill them.
“What if they find out our plan too early?” another pirate asked worriedly.
“Then we will have to act quickly,” Silver answered coldly. “I have killed many people. A young boy and a few gentlemen are no real danger to skilled pirates like us.”
“Yes, Captain Silver,” the men said together excitedly.
Jim knew he must tell his friends about it right away. Quietly, he began to move away from his hiding place, but suddenly his foot hit a wooden board and made a loud noise.
“What was that?” Silver asked sharply, looking around the dark places.
“Maybe just the ship moving,” one pirate said.
“Maybe,” Silver said, “but be careful. We cannot have any problems at this important time.”
Jim held his breath, hoping they would not find him. Everyone’s safety depended on his ability to get away from it and tell his friends about the danger.

“Mobook” gets its idea from “Books on the Underground”, a community project in London. The purpose of “Books on the Underground” is to encourage people to read more. Zhang Wei, the CEO of the Fair also wanted to do something in China. He sent an e-mail to Ms Cordelia Oxley, the leader of “Books on the Underground”, describing his plan and explaining the rules of “Mobook”. The leader replied to him in just two hours, saying that she thought the idea was great and she would offer help if needed.
But “Mobook” project is a little different from that in London. It has its own online system. People who want to donate books must give their information online. QR code stickers (二维码标签) are then sent to their addresses. The book owners should stick them on the books before donating books and readers can know where the books are from with the help of QR codes.

26. Why are AI trip planners becoming popular?
A. Because they never make mistakes.
B. Because they are cheaper than human agents.
C. Because they understand personal tastes well.
D. Because they can help people avoid boring work.
27. How does the writer show us if AI booking agents are reliable?
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving an example.
D 27. B 28. A 29. D 30. B

In today’s world, people have two popular ways to explore the world: in-person travel and online travel. ___36___
In-person travel means visiting places in person. You can walk on historic streets, smell local snacks, and talk to local people. For example, if you go to Suzhou’s gardens, you can touch the stone bridges and feel the cool wind from the lakes.___37___ But it gives you real feelings and memories you can keep forever.
Online travel, however, is done through the internet. You can use apps or websites to take virtual tours. With just a click, you can “walk” around the Forbidden City in Beijing or “visit” the Eiffel Tower in Paris at home. ___38___ But you can’t feel the sun on your face or taste the delicious food there.
Many students like both ways. Zhang Wei, an eighth-grader, loves in-person travel. “Last year, I went to Yangzhou. I tried Yangzhou fried rice and talked to an old craftsman. It’s nothing like looking at pictures online,” he said. ___39___ “I can easily ‘visit’ many museums right after finishing homework. It helps me learn about the world when I’m busy,” she explained.

空格后提到“But you can’t feel the sun on your face or taste the delicious food there.”,说明前文应描述线上旅行的优点。B项“It’s cheap and easy—you don’t need to pack bags or wait in line.”

41. One of the most famous _________ (novel) around the world is Gulliver’s Travels.
42. Our school offers students a _________ (complete) free chance to read this novel.
43. Many students were _________ (willing) to miss any interesting parts in the novel.
根据“to miss any interesting parts in the novel”可知,此处指许多学生不愿意错过,需要填willing(愿意的)的否定形式,willing加前缀un-变成反义词unwilling(不愿意的),同时be unwilling to do sth是固定搭配,意思是“不愿意做某事”。
44. They even cheered with _________ (excite) when reading some exciting plots.
45. For example, Gulliver watched a _________ (现场演出的) show held by thousands of small men in Lilliput.
46. He tried his best to _________ (保卫) himself from those strange tiny people.
表示“保卫”的英语动词为guard;固定搭配try one’s best to do sth(尽某人最大努力做某事),不定式符号to后需要接动词原形,因此guard不变形。
47. However, he couldn’t understand their words and he didn’t know what to say ________ (也).

【答案】to know

【答案】will build

People can _________ _________ interesting travel stories and share them with friends.
【答案】 ①. make ②. up

The special menu includes lots of dishes so you can try ________________.

故填signed up for a swimming training course。
We __________________________ of England since last week.
