The following day, the Happy Prince said, “Please, dear swallow. Don’t go to Egypt today. Stay and help me one more time. Over there is a little girl selling matches. But she has dropped most of them in a puddle, and now they are useless. She was crying, because if she went home with no money, her father would beat her and send her to bed without supper.
The swallow replied, “So what can we do about it? I can’t give her your other eye because you’ll be totally blind!”
“Just do it. Do it now,” the Happy Prince told the bird.
So, the swallow took out the other sapphire (蓝宝石) and flew to the crying child. He dropped the precious stone into her hand and flew back to the Happy Prince. “You can’t see now,” the swallow sobbed. “I will stay with you forever and keep you company.”
He began telling the statue about all the places he had visited and all the things he had seen on his travels. After hearing the swallow’s stories, the Happy Prince said, “You have seen many wonderful things in your life. But now, I want you to fly over the city and tell me what you have seen.” The little bird flew across the city and came back. He told the Prince about old men begging in the street, homeless people crying with hunger, and children shaking with cold. There was nothing happy to report.
“I am covered in gold,” the Happy Prince said. “You must take it, leaf by leaf, and give it to the poor people of this city. ▲ ”
The swallow did as he was told. Day after day, he gave all the gold leaves to the poor. Finally, the statue had no gold left.
The little bird sat next to the statue’s head and said, “My friend, it is time for me to die.” He kissed the Happy Prince on the lips once, and fell dead at his feet.
At that moment, there was a loud crack inside the statue. The Happy Prince’s heart broke into two.

On a sunny day, you may see clouds forming, changing shape, and moving across the sky. A cloud is a group of tiny water drops floating in the air.
How Do Clouds Form?
Clouds form in four clear steps. First, water from oceans, lakes, rivers and plants rises into the air as water vapour (蒸汽). Then, the air containing water vapour is warmed by the sun. Next, the warm air rises into the sky where the air is colder. Finally, when the warm air reaches the cold air, some water vapour changes back into water drops or tiny bits of ice. A cloud is born.
You can see the same process of condensation at home, for example, when you breathe on a cold mirror or take a hot shower — though these are not real clouds.
Types of Clouds
There are three main types of clouds. The clouds that look like sheets across the sky are called stratus clouds. The fluffy clouds that look like balls of cotton wool are called cumulus clouds. The thin, wispy clouds high in the sky are called cirrus clouds. Some clouds look white because the sun makes all the tiny water drops shine. Some look black because they are made of so many water drops that the sunlight cannot shine through them. Black clouds usually means rain is coming.
From Clouds to Precipitation (降水): Rain, Snow, and Hail
When water drops inside a cloud bump into each other and stick together, they become bigger and heavier. Eventually, they fall down as rain. When the air is very cold, water vapour turns directly into tiny icy snowflakes. If the snowflakes don’t melt on the way down, snow falls instead of rain. This is why higher mountains often get snowfalls. Hailstones form when strong winds carry water drops high into the cold sky. The drops freeze into small ice balls. As more water freezes onto them, they grow larger. When they become too heavy, they fall to the ground as hail.
Now you know: the simple sky is never just a sky.

A. to describe the size of different clouds in the sky
B. to explain how clouds turn into rain, snow and hail
C. to introduce the beauty of clouds in different seasons

Waking up to success
Feeling tired is very common, especially when you have too much homework and too many activities. But there are some easy ways to help you look and feel better.
When you get up, go outside for a few minutes. Just 5 to 10 minutes in the sun can help your body feel more awake in the day.
Besides sunlight, a little exercise helps a lot. Even easy activities like simple yoga, stretching, or a 10-to-20-minute walk can make your mind clear and help you relax.
But movement is not the only way to get more energy. Deep breathing helps too. When you are stressed, your breath becomes shallow and your muscles get tight. This makes you more tired.
Try slow, deep breaths. Breathe out longer than you breathe in. This helps you relax and calm down. If you need to focus before class, try box breathing. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds. After a few minutes, you will feel more focused.
Good posture (姿势) is also important. Your posture shows if you are tired. If you slump forward (驼背), you look and feel more tired. Sit up straight, lift your chest, and imagine you are growing taller. This makes you look awake and feel better at once.
If you sit for long every day, roll your shoulders back every hour. This simple action helps your muscles, improves blood flow to your brain, and keeps you awake.
