other group listens and records the ingredients()to

Many high school students want to join sports teams, sometimes just to be
popular or make more friends. But beyond these simple reasons, sports offer
countless valuable benefits that teens might not notice-and parents will surely
appreciate.
In today's world, teens often focus too much on TVs,computers,or video
games, choosing to be alone instead of hanging out with peers.Unlike the old days
when kids went to the mall or drove around town, now they spend most of their time
at home.Sports give teens a perfect chance to go out, socialize, and learn teamwork.
Even if they don't find a lifelong friend, the ability to communicate and work with
others will be extremely useful for their future lives.
Obesity()is a growing problem among young people, not just adults.
Joining a team sport helps teens get regular exercise without the pressure of"losing
weight"or "getting into shape."What's more,if they notice their physical condition
is holding them back in games, they may feel encouraged to do extra activities to
stay healthy.
Sports also help parents show love and support to their teens.Showing up at
their games, helping them practice, and joining teams to raise money are great ways
to spend quality time together and communicate better.
If your teen worries about not being "good enough"for the school team, don't
woy一there are plenty of other options..The community“for-fin”leagues(联赛),or
even less common sports like bowling()are all great choices. With a little
research, you're sure to find something your teen enjoys.
In short, team sports let teens get out of the house, stay active, make friends,
and even open doors to college scholarships. So why not encourage your teen to
give sports a try today?
28.What can teens benefit from sports from Paragraph 2?
A.They can become more popular at school.
B.They can improve themselves from teamwork.
C.They can go shopping with friends in the town.
D.They can spend more time playing games at home.
29.Which of the following shows parents'support to their teens?
A.Appearing at their games.
B.Driving away their worries
C.Helping them finish homework.
D.Offering them sports equipment.

In December 2025,Australia will make history as the first country to ban()
children under 16 from using social media platforms()like Meta,X,and TikTok.
This groundbreaking policy has led to heated global discussion, making Australia a
test case for solving one of today's trickiest youth problems.
The Australian government, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, says the
ban is a necessary response to a growing public health problem. Many studies link
too much social media use among young people to higher rates of depression,
self-hamm,and addiction.Beyond that,the platforms'design causes other risks like
self-worth damaging.Albanese said,"Social media are doing social harm to our kids.
We've reduced time on it.We want our kids to have a childhood."
However, experts raise serious concerns.Teens who are skilled in technology
might use VPNs to avoid the ban, pushing them to less safe parts of the internet.
Overly strict selection could also prevent them from using valuable learning
resources and social connections, especially for marginalized(被边缘化的)youth or
kids from other regions seeking real community.Social media companies like Meta
and TikTok have blamed the policy, noting they already offer age-suitable safety
features.
Globally, other Western nations have taken different approaches. The EU uses
rules to force tech companies to be more serious, while U.S.efforts aren't worth
mentioning-federal()action is prevented by free speech debates, and states
have different bans.
As a medium-sized market,Australia's policy results will offer important
lessons for other countries. If the ban improves teens'mental health without creating
unlawful digital markets or separating weak groups,it could become a global model.
If it fails,it will serve as a warning about the limits of government control in the
borderless digital world. All eyes are on australia to see how this brave experiment
carries on

高一英语听力原文
Text 1
M: Are you doing anything interesting this weekend?
W: I was supposed to go rock-climbing in the mountains with my dad, but he’s hurt his knee. So, I guess I’ll be stuck at home. (1)
M: Oh, that’s a shame.
Text 2
W: Do you think we should buy this apartment?
M: I don’t know. The price is right, and it’s a pretty good size… But I’m not sure about this neighborhood. I think we’d better look for something closer to the subway station, don’t you? (2)
Text 3
M: Can we change the channel? I want to watch the basketball game.
W: Yes, in about five minutes. I just need to watch the end of this show. (3) It’s about the Battle of Gaixia, which we’re studying in history this term. It’s been really useful, actually!
Text 4
W: I think the movie is great, don’t you?
M: Not really. I am excited to see it because it’s based on one of my favorite books. But somehow, they have managed to turn a moving story into a really boring film! (4)
Text 5
M: Do you have much homework tonight, dear?
W: Not too much. I have a math test to study for, and I also have to write a short report on a video we watched in today’s social studies class. (5)
M: Okay. Go and get on with it then.
Text 6
W: I want a smartwatch to help me get fit. (6) Will I need a mobile phone to make it work? I don’t have one.
M: No, you just need to choose a watch with its own data plan. (7) You may need to pay a little extra for that.
W: Oh, OK.
M: Although, if you want it to help you with your health and fitness goals, it’s useful to have a way to view your progress. (7)
W: Could I use my home computer for that? (7)
M: Sure. I’ll help you set it up if you like. (7)
W: Really? Thanks!
Text 7 (第8题为推断题)
M: What brings you here today?
W: Well, I have always wanted to volunteer for ages. Now I’ve graduated from high school, so I’ll have plenty of time to help out, at least until I go to college in September!
M: Great! What kind of work would you prefer?
W: I love animals…and I like spending time with kids. (9)
M: Well, working with kids requires a police check, which can take a while to come back. As you’re going to college in two months, maybe we should avoid that.
W: OK. I’m planning to study Environmental Science. Are there any environment-based projects I could help with?
M: A local charity is running a summer-long river clean-up. Would that interest you? (10)
W: Definitely! (10) I believe it’s much more meaningful than staying inside staring at the phone all day.
Text 8 (第11题为总结题)
W: My brother and I get along really well nowadays. (12) (13) But it wasn’t always that way!
M: No? It’s hard to imagine you two fighting.
W: We fought all the time as teenagers! (12) He’s three years older, so he found me annoying. And I thought he was way too strict. (12)
M: When did you start to get along?
W: Not until I went away to college last year.
M: That sounds like me and my brother. (13) We didn’t really become friends until after we both left home for work.
W: Really? Why?
M: I think we bored one another. He was into computers, and I loved the arts. But then we both discovered our love of sport, and that gave us something in common.
W: Oh, cool!
M: In fact, we’re going to watch a football game together this weekend.
Text 9 (第14题为推断题)
W: I’ve tried many different things to improve my mental health. Everything from doing sports to staying off social media… But the thing that’s made the most difference for me is discovering positive psychology. (15) (16)
M: Positive psychology? I’ve never heard of that.
W: Well, like most forms of psychology, it’s a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior. But what makes it different is that, instead of focusing on fixing your problems and weaknesses, you need to concentrate on developing your strengths. (15)
M: I see. So, it’s about building on the good things in life, rather than trying to repair the bad things.
W: Exactly!
M: It sounds really interesting. How did you find out about it?
W: My cousin lent me a book on the subject. He and his wife are really interested in self-improvement.
M: Do you feel it has helped you in your life?
W: It has helped me to appreciate my own positive qualities, (16) which makes me feel much more grateful, happy and confident.
M: It sounds great! What’s the name of that book…
Text 10
Rockport, a town on the coast of Massachusetts, is home to a very interesting tourist attraction. “The Paper House” is a two-room home built in the 1920s by an engineer called Elis. F. Stenman. (17) (19) (20) Instead of using stone or wood like most builders, Stenman chose a rather unusual material for the project — newspaper! The house’s floors are made of wood, (18) built in the ordinary way. However, the walls and doors are made of about 100,000 newspapers, stuck together with home-made glue. Almost everything inside the house is also made of paper, including a clock, a desk, and a chair which can be sat on! The project was really an experiment. Stenman wanted to know what would happen to a house made of paper. Would it last? The answer is yes! (19) Over 100 years later, the house still stands. What’s more, the text in many of the newspapers can still be read! Stenman and his family used the house as a summer home between 1922 and 1930. (20) It then became a museum, run by Stenman’s niece and her family.
