I ____2____ planned to stay home and watch movies. But Mom’s tone told me there was no room for ____3____.
An hour later, I found myself standing at Xi’an City Square, ____4____ a bright red volunteer coat. Our task was to help tourists with directions and keep the square clean. I stood there ____5____, not knowing what to do. I thought it would be a long and boring day.
Then an elderly couple ____6____ me. They were holding a map and looked confused. “Excuse me, can you tell us how to get to the Bell Tower?” the old man asked ____7____. I waited for a second, then ____8____ to the road ahead. “Just walk straight for about ten minutes. You ____9____ miss it,” I said. Their faces lit up with smiles. “Thank you! At that moment, something inside me ____11____. Over the next few hours, I helped more people—a family looking for a restaurant, a backpacker asking about the subway, and a little girl who had ____12____ her parents in the crowd. On the way home, Mom said, “Our city is known for its history, and the square ____15____ every morning by workers-everyone is trying hard to make it truly warm.” I nodded.

listened to听、told to告诉、shouted to对……
结合妈妈的关心,是问我“感觉怎么样”,How are you feeling?

The crested ibis (朱鹮) is a rare and beautiful bird in China. It once lived in many places across our country, but its number dropped quickly because of pollution and human activities. By 1981, scientists found only seven wild crested ibises left in the Qinling Mountains of Shaanxi.
To save the bird, local people and scientists started great protection work. First, they built safe living areas in forests. They stopped using harmful pesticides (农药) around their homes and cleaned the rivers. Second, they fed small fish and worms to the ibises in cold winters so that they would not be hungry.
Today, scientists use modern tech to watch the ibises all year round. They put small light tools on the birds to record their living places and flying ways. With the clear information, workers can know their health and take action quickly if danger comes.
Thanks to years of hard work, the number of crested ibises is growing fast. Now over 7,000 ibises live safely in Shaanxi. Some of them even fly to Shangluo and other nearby cities. The success comes from good protection, friendly natural environment and the harmony between humans and animals.
The story of the crested ibis tells us: protecting nature is protecting our future. Small steps can always make big changes to our earth.

Many people worry that using artificial intelligence (人工智能) too often will make human memory weaker. However, recent studies show a different result.
Scientists have done tests on middle school students. One group used AI tools to organize knowledge and make study plans, while the other group studied in traditional ways. At the end of the term, the first group did better in understanding and using information, even though they could not remember every detail exactly. Interestingly, when given a completely new problem, the AI-using group showed stronger creative thinking and were quicker to find solutions.
Experts explain that AI works like an external memory tool. It helps people with some simple memory work, such as remembering dates or vocabulary lists. This allows humans to focus more on higher-level skills like creative thinking inside your brain. However, experts also warn that if people depend on AI blindly, their memory will surely become poor. For example, students who simply copy answers without understanding them often forget knowledge quickly.
In the future, the key is not to refuse new technology, but to develop good learning habits and keep independent thinking all the time. Using AI as a helper rather than a replacement of our own mind is the smartest choice.
22. What did the scientists find about the group who used AI?
A. They remembered every detail better.
B. They did worse in traditional tests.
C. They were better at understanding and using information.
D. They could not solve new problems.
23. The word “external” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________.
A. excited B. outside C. useless D. dangerous
24. Which of the following may cause poor memory according to the passage?
A. Using AI to make study plans. B. Copying AI answers without thinking.
C. Focusing on creative thinking. D. Letting AI organize knowledge.
25. What is the main purpose of this passage?
A. To warn that AI is bad for human memory.
B. To encourage students to refuse AI completely.
C. To show that AI is better than teachers in education.
D. To explain how to use AI wisely and keep thinking actively.
C 23. B 24. B 25. D
根据第二段中“At the end of the term, the first group did better in understanding and using information...”
根据第三段中“It helps people with some simple memory work... This allows humans to focus more on higher-level skills like creative thinking inside your brain.”
根据第三段中“However, experts also warn that if people depend on AI for blindly, their memory will surely become poor. For example, students who simply copy answers without understanding them often forget knowledge quickly.”
通读全文,尤其是最后一段“In the future, the key is not to refuse new technology, but to develop good learning habits and keep independent thinking all the time.”,可知文章旨在说明不要拒绝新技术,但要养成良好的学习习惯并保持独立思考,即明智地使用AI。

VII.
Long ago, in ancient China, there was a story about the invention of silk. People believed that silk was first invented by Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor. Leizu learned how to make cocoons (蚕茧) into soft and strong cloth. This magical cloth became known as “silk”, and it was so valuable that it was called “China’s Gold”. Following kings’ orders, the Chinese kept the secret of making silk for centuries.
But then, something amazing happened! During the Han Dynasty, the brave officer Zhang Qian travelled as far as Central Asia and brought silk there. As years passed, silk became so important that the trade road from China to Europe got its name—the Silk Road.
At the very beginning, the Silk Road was mainly about trade. It became a busy highway for traders who carried things across deserts and mountains. From China, people sold silk and tea. In return, they received treasures such as spices (香料), gold and silver from the West. Then, people began to share ideas and technologies. For example, Chinese paper-making was spread to the West, while new ideas about math and science came to China. Most importantly, the Silk Road helped different cultures learn from each other. Art, music and even language were shared along this ancient road. In places like the Dunhuang Grottoes (敦煌石窟) in China, you can see special art works that connected Eastern and Western cultures. They cannot be seen anywhere else.
The story of the Silk Road shows us people from faraway lands could become friends and share ideas. Today, we remember the Silk Road as one of the greatest examples of cooperation (合作) and exchange in history. It tells us how important to learn about and respect each other’s traditions, and we can work together to create amazing things.
56. In history, Leizu invented silk and the officer ________ brought it to the West.
57. The Silk Road was mainly about ________ at the beginning.
58. Then it began to share technologies such as Chinese ________.
59. You can see special ________ that connected Eastern and Western cultures in Dunhuang Grottoes.
60. To follow the Silk Road’s spirit, we should ________ different traditions.
56. Zhang Qian
57. trade 58. paper-making
