Now in hospital we can not only see doctors, nurses and patients (病人), but also hospital helpers. Hospital helpers are new to many people. They can help people do a lot of things. For example, they can get appointments (预约) with a doctor and see the doctor with patients.
In these years, there are more and more hospital helpers in big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The number of old people is growing fast in these cities. Many of them don’t know how to get appointments with doctors online. And they often get lost in big hospitals when they go there. Also, their children may live far from them and can’t go to the hospital with them. So these old people have the need for hospital helpers. In fact, many young people also use helper service. And they’re usually more open and trusting.
With the help of experienced hospital helpers, patients can spend less time finishing medical examinations (健康检查). And thanks to hospital helpers, patients feel warm and relaxed.

Most Chinese parents have great hope for their children. When children are born, their parents have planned everything for them. Many children in China are unhappy. They live a planned life and are made to fulfill the dreams that their parents have planned for them.
There are two sides to parents’ hope. The hope can encourage (鼓励) children to work harder for a better life. According to some studies, whether a child will be successful or not depends largely on his or her parents’ hope. However, unrealistic (不现实的) hope can be bad for children. Every child has his or her own thoughts and feelings. Parents’ hope can take children’ s freedom away. Wise parents allow their children to have some freedom. They encourage their children to do things they like to do and never judge (评判) them only by their grades.
My parents’ hope of me is to be happy, kind and healthy. They never put too much pressure (压力) on me, ★ . However, I have my own dreams. There are some difficulties on my way to chasing (追寻) my dream. I never give up because my parents always encourage me when I am in trouble.
In a word, I think parents’ hope is necessary. However, parents should not give their children too much pressure. Parents must make sure their hope of their children is realistic so that their children will not lose their confidence.

B. All parents’ hope is good for the growth of children.
C. Parents’ hope always makes children have more freedom.
D. Parents should encourage children to do what they like to do.
47. The passage is mainly written for ________.
A. friends B. parents C. children D. students

When Justin Tong was a child, other kids felt sorry for him. His parents always had him do lots of housework such as taking out the rubbish and sending newspapers. But when he grew up, he was better than his childhood friends and lived a happier and healthier life.
This is the finding of a 40-year study following the lives of 456 children in London. It showed that the children who worked hard in childhood had a richer and happier future. “Children who worked at home in childhood got more abilities and came to feel they were important members of the society,” said Daniel Brown, the psychologist (心理学家) who made the study. “And because they felt good about themselves, and others felt good about them.”
Brown’s study followed these children in great detail. They made the study about the children at ages 25, 31 and 47. Under Brown, the researchers compared the children’s mental-health scores with their childhood-activity scores. The children got more points for part-time jobs, housework, effort in school, and ability to deal with problems.
Working hard at any age is important. Childhood activities help a child develop responsibility, independence, confidence and ability—the underpinnings (基础) of emotional (情感的) health. They also help him understand that people must work together and work toward common goals. The most competent (合格的) adults are those who know how to do this. Yet work isn’t everything. As Tolstoy once said, “One can live great in this world if one knows how to work and how to love, to work for the person one loves and to love one’s work.”
48. What do we know about Justin Tong?
A. He enjoyed a happy life. B. He felt sorry for the other kids.
C. He always sold newspapers. D. He hardly took out the rubbish.
49. Who will probably succeed in the future according to Paragraph 2?
A. Children who enjoy happier and richer lives.
B. Children who work at home in childhood.
C. Children who take part in Daniel Brown’s study.
D. Children who feel good about people around them.
50. What does the underlined word “They” refer to in the last paragraph?
A. Responsibility and independence B. Confidence and ability
C. Childhood activities D. Part-time jobs
51. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③/④ B. ①/②/③④ C. ①②③/④ D. ①/②③④
52. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Working is helpful for children’s growth.
B. Every child should help work at home.
C. A child should do more and more work.
D. Working can help solve many problems.

D. Children who feel good about people around them.
50. What does the underlined word “They” refer to in the last paragraph?
A. Responsibility and independence B. Confidence and ability

例文
Grow Up Healthily
As teenagers, it’s very important for us to grow up healthily. Here are my ways to make it.
First, I keep healthy by sleeping early for enough rest, exercising 30 minutes daily to build up my body, and eating fresh vegetables and fruit instead of junk food. Second, I help with housework like washing dishes to share my parents’ burden, and I talk with them openly to understand each other better. Third, I join volunteer activities such as helping the elderly in the community to learn to care for others.
These practices make me strong in body and mind, and warm-hearted. I truly believe health and kindness are the key to growing into a better person.
