c. Daniel and Milly are talking about chinese charities, work in pairs and talk about the chinese charity, you know about. Use the conversation below as a model. Have you heard about the china welfare institute? Yes, but only a little. I'd love to know more. IT was founded in nineteen thirty eight, is one of the oldest and most influential charities in china. I know it's one of our older charities, but what kind of work does IT focus on? In the beginning, IT helped people during the war. IT now aims to provide health care and education to children and women in need. IT has done a lot of wonderful things since IT was founded. IT sounds great. yes. IT has many special programs to support children and women at home and road. That's really nice. I hope I can volunteer with this charity one day.
Pages one hundred and one to one hundred and four integration unit f and other . charities a Daniel has found an article about you, read IT and answer the questions below us for every child everywhere. Unicef is part of the united nations during world war two, many schools and homes were destroyed and many children suffered. Uneath was set up in nineteen forty six by the U. N. Her family was very poor and had many children, so elena did not go to school and he could not read or right. One day, a universe officer came to Ellen's village and learned about the conditions of the local people. He said IT was important for children to receive education. He wanted all the children in the village to learn to read and write. Three weeks later, elena entered a local school. Now he goes to school every day. SHE can read and write. SHE enjoys school and is grateful to unicef for helping her. Alena says that he wants to become a teacher in the future. He hopes he can help other people someday.
B to Daniel is listening to a speech made by a new volunteer, listen to part of the speech and complete the notes below. Fresh water, clean air and enough food are very basic needs to liver healthy life, but for children in poor areas, these needs are often hard to meet. Moreover, some parts of the world still face wars or natural disasters. IT can be impossible for children there to have a safe environment, and they even have difficulty getting necessary things. Modern technology has improved people's lives. Put children in poor areas usually have little chance to use IT, so IT may be difficult for them to find good jobs in the future. However, positive changes are taking place at every day. Let's work together and do everything we can to help.

Johan is a boy from a small village in Malawi. He lives with his parents and three younger sisters. The family depends entirely on their small piece of land. In some years, the harvest was so bad that they could only eat one simple meal a day. Johan often went to bed hungry, which made him feel tired and weak all the time.
One day, a World Food Programme (WFP) officer visited Johan’s village school to assess the children’s health. He saw that many children, like Johan, were undernourished. He explained that good nutrition is essential for children to grow, learn and stay healthy.
Soon after, a “School Meals” programme began at Johan’s school, supported by WFP. Now, Johan receives a nutritious meal every school day. He has more energy and gets sick less often. He can focus in class and play football in the afternoon. His family is grateful to WFP for the vital support.
Johan says that he feels stronger and happier. He dreams of becoming a farmer in the future, using new methods to grow plenty of food for his family and his whole community.
