【答案】例文
Hi, global teens! I’m Li Hua, a senior high school student from Hongxing Middle School, and I’m proud to serve as a “hometown ambassador” for my city, Hangzhou.
My hometown is most famous for the picturesque West Lake, the elegant Longjing tea culture, and its perfect blend of ancient water town charm and dynamic digital innovation. To share its beauty, I often post short English videos introducing local scenic spots, traditional snacks and intangible cultural heritage skills on the International Teens Community. I also organize online virtual tours for foreign friends during holidays, and send hand-painted postcards of Hangzhou landmarks to teenagers from different countries.
Welcome to explore Hangzhou’s beauty yourselves if you get the chance!

In the following days, Jack and Leo trained on the playground with the smartwatches on. At first, Jack panted heavily after running just 200 meters, wanting to give up. But Leo cheered him on loudly and adjusted his running rhythm patiently. With the smartwatch recording every step, Jack checked the app data after each training session, fixing bugs that caused inaccurate time — keeping one by one. Gradually, Jack’s stamina improved. He could run 800 meters without stopping, and the app ran more smoothly, too.
Then came the PE exam day and Jack stood at the starting line, calm and ready. The starting gun went off. Jack followed the pace he’d practiced, neither too fast nor too slow. When he crossed the finish line, the smartwatch showed a passing score! His classmates cheered for him. The PE teacher nodded in approval. Later, the app was used in the whole grade’s 1000-meter test, collecting data accurately. Jack smiled, realizing that overcoming challenges could bring double rewards — he not only passed the exam but also created a useful app.

used to have four departments:English,French,German and Russian, but now there is a Chinese department as well and we are going to set up a Spanish department next year. At the moment we're outside your department, the English department.Compared with other departments,it is the largest department in the college. In the English department there are over 200 students,30 students in each class. We have 50 teachers, including 20 professors in this department. The teachers are all from different countries, mainly from the U.S.A. and Australia, with a few from England and Canada. All of your classes will be here in this building. In the French department, there are over 150 students a140 teachers mainly from France and Canada. In the Russian department, we have more than120 students, and 28 teachers from Russia and Ukraine. Now, let's walk over to the main library which is the largest building in the college and is just next to the English department building. But I must remind you that this tour doesn't include a visit to the reading rooms. A Great Oak Table — plus accompanying benches capable of seating 60 comes after locals raised £ 22,555 to transform a 500-year-old oak tree that fell in a storm 15 years ago into what they believe is the longest table ever to be crafted from a single oak tree.
The project is the brainchild of Elizabeth — Jane Baldry, a local harpist who bought the spot — then poor quality former agricultural land 18 years ago. She named it Pigwiggen Wood, and with the help of her two sons, has since turned it into a wildlife refuge.
The dream to crown the space with a grand oak table was a longstanding one, Baldry told Positive News: “The Tudor oak came from an old estate in mid-Devon,” she said. “Five hundred years in the growing and 500 years preserved as a table in a Devon wood, a place where people can gather to share food, friendship and lively conversation.” Many of the comments from people who supported the crowd funding campaign brought tears to Baldry’s eyes.
“Some people donated from across the oceans, and even though it’s unlikely that they will ever sit at the table, they said they’d donated because just knowing the Great Oak Table existed made them feel better about the world,” she said. “Over and over again the word ‘magical’ came up, an indication I think that we’re all so hungry for enchantment and a sense of belonging.”
And now there are all the stories still to come, Baldry added: “the midsummer feasts, the bowls of steaming soup cooked over the fire on winter days, the children drawing and making things, the parish picnics, and the essential quiet days when visitors can simply relax and soak up the magic.”
24. What is special about the Great Oak Table?
A. It is made from a rare type of oak.
B. It is the most extensive single-oak table.
C. Its benches have a seating capacity of 18.
D. It is located in a significant agricultural land.
25. What can be inferred about the donors to the crowd funding campaign?
A. They were hungry for the midsummer feasts.
B. They were preserving ancient crafting techniques.
C. They valued the symbolic meaning of the project.
D. They have experienced the joy of sitting at the table.
26. How does Baldry envision the table’s future role?
A. A temporary attraction for tourists.
B. A symbol of personal achievement.
C. A useful tool for cooking purposes.
D. A lasting place for shared connections.
27. What can we learn from the text?
A. Tradition ends where modern ambition begins.
B. Silent forests hold secrets beyond our understanding.
C .Magic blossoms when people unite to preserve heritage.
D. Beauty in nature fades quickly if left without a watchful eye.

In an oasis of green space sandwiched among Manhattan skyscrapers, one oddball stood out among the parkgoers Monday morning. It was a robot mower (割草机) named “Belawncé”. Looking like an oversize Roomba with heavy-duty wheels, it pilots itself with the help of an artificial intelligence camera system that resembles a pair of human eyes. After two to four hours of mowing, the robot navigates to a charging station.
For the past few months, the electric robot mower has taken over grass-clipping duties on the main lawn of Bryant Park, a small but heavily used public park. Toshi Yano, director of the park, said in an interview that the robot mower has proved effective, safe and more environmentally friendly than gas-powered, human-operated mowers.
Belawncé is a glimpse at the promise and the problems of using robots for tasks such as yard work. Bryant Park previously tried a couple of other robot mowers that were finicky. The prior robots would get stuck in certain parts of the park. To connect to satellites for navigation, at times the park needed one receiver on-site and another on a nearby office tower. Starting this spring, Bryant Park picked a model made by a company called Sunseeker. It has required less human intervention over time.
Unlike its pop star namesake, Belawncé and its fellow robot mowers aren’t beloved by all. Nanci Fioravanti, landscape manager for Green-Wood, a popular green space in Brooklyn that uses two robot mowers, has had to reassure staff worried about job losses from automation. Fioravanti also said that the robot mowers aren’t suited to steep areas of Green-Wood or where tree cover makes them lose signal.
Park officials made sure Belawncé navigated around or stopped for humans and wildlife. “Either the birds or the AI or some combination of both are doing what they’re supposed to do and avoiding one another,” Yano said.
28. What is a key feature of Belawncé?
A. It is gas-powered. B. It looks human-like.
C. It is uniquely shaped. D. It operates autonomously.
29. What does the underlined word “finicky” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Efficient. B. Demanding. C. Independent. D. Conventional.
30. What aspect concerning robot mowers was mentioned in paragraph 4?
A. Their adaptability. B. Their limitations.
C. Their environmental value. D. Their maintenance costs.
31. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To promote the use of robot mowers.
B. To call for a review of robot mowers.
C. To report on the adoption of a robot mower.
D. To present the development of a robot mower.
D
Human-driven climate change poses one of the most urgent challenges of our time, while individuals' decisions (e.g. how often people fly, what type of car they drive) play a substantial role in achieving net zero emissions. However, people hold widespread misperceptions regarding the effectiveness of their behaviors, affecting their commitment. Recently, a study was conducted to assess if climate action literacy interventions could influence their perceptions and willingness to act.
The study was based on 4,000 people recruited to take an online survey. A pre-test was conducted to rate their willingness to engage in the 21 carbon emission-reducing individual behaviours. Then they were randomly divided into two groups receiving climate literacy intervention. Participants in the first group were first asked to rank the effectiveness of the 21 individual behaviors, before being shown the true effectiveness ranking. The second group of participants received information about the carbon reduction potential of the same behaviors without the prediction step. During the post-test, participants in both groups, again, rated their willingness to adopt these individual behaviors. Besides, participants rated each behaviour on how easy or difficult it would be for them to engage in each item.
After the intervention, clear positive outcomes emerged for both groups: they expressed significantly greater willingness to adopt climate-friendly lifestyles. However, compared with passive exposure to information, active processing of new information contributes more to updating people's beliefs.
The study also highlighted what really motivated people to act in their personal lives. People will engage in lifestyle changes especially because they think it's easy to do, no matter how effective they are.
"The study is part of a broader research program investigating how scalable, low-cost interventions can affect behavior." Vlasceanu, a professor of environmental social sciences, said. "Climate change can be solved through choices and changes involving large numbers of people. Future experiments may compare literacy-based strategies with emotional appeals or personal storytelling to determine which approaches most effectively enhance individual engagement."
32. What does the study focus on?
A. How climate change threatens our daily life.
B. Whether individual decisions affect carbon emissions.
C. How misunderstandings of environment get corrected.
D. Whether guidance affects people's environmental decisions.
33. What's the process of the experiment according to paragraph 2?
A. Pre-test → Group Division → Literacy Intervention → Post-test
B. Pre-test → First Assessment → Methods Instruction → Post-test
C. Pre-test → Group Division → Instant Practice → Group Comparison
D. Pre-test → First Assessment → Instant Practice → Group Comparison
34. What can be inferred from the findings?
A. People prefer effective actions to easy ones.
B. Tough actions are less effective in cutting carbon.
C. Active engagement leads to greater belief change.
D. Behavior effectiveness is key to action willingness.
35. What is the future research mainly about according to Vlasceanu?
A. Adoption of novel research approaches.
B. Potential benefits of greater engagement.
C. Identification of top action-driving methods.
D. Practical needs of involving more participants.

There were only 30 days left for the final PE exam. Jack frowned at his 1000-meter run score, another “Fail”. As the school’s well-known “coding talent,” he could develop practical apps that impressed everyone. But he just couldn’t finish the 1000-meter run. Every attempt ended with burning lungs and he always finished far behind the others, never making the passing grade. The PE teacher’s words struck him hard, “A one-sided life won’t take you far. If you can’t overcome such a small challenge, how will you face tougher ones?” Jack stared at his sneakers, sad and embarrassed.
That afternoon, Jack ran into Leo, the monitor surrounded by piles of handwritten records. “I’ve finally finished sorting this data. It took me hours,” he complained, “One sheet listed a 1000-meter result as 3’45” while another as 225 seconds; some names were written last-name-first, others first-name-last. How I wish there were a tool to collect results directly next time!”
Hearing this, Jack’s eyes lit up. “The PE office has recently been equipped with a set of smartwatches. I can develop a personalized app running on the smartwatches,” he offered excitedly. “When students run the 1000-meter race with the smartwatches on their hands, the app will automatically record their time and other data in a consistent format.”
Later on, Jack devoted all his after-school hours to the app. Having developed the app, he tried to input some data to test whether it functioned properly. However, using the previous handwritten records for testing was trickier than expected and bugs kept popping up. As Jack struggled for a solution, his eyes fell on the PE score sheet and the teacher’s words echoed, “If you can’t overcome such a small challenge…”
Suddenly an idea struck him, “What if I run and collect firsthand data myself?” he thought. “That way, I can test the app in real time and also improve my running performance.” He shared the plan with Leo, who responded with immediate support, “I’ll run with you every step of the way.”
