After coming back to the ground, Garnier said, “My dream has come true. It’s wonderful. I always knew I was going to do it.” Her success was the result of a year’s hard training, even though bad weather often made it difficult. In fact, there is a very personal reason for Garnier’s climb. She said, “My mother is fighting against cancer (癌症). It was important for me to try my best for a cause close to my heart — to help cancer research. I trained for this event for a year. Every time I thought of my mother and my family, I just couldn’t give up.” The money raised for Garnier’s climb will help the League Against Cancer. But a team from Carnegie Mellon University has created a smart AI model called LegoGPT. It can make LEGO building plans just from simple words! The team trained LegoGPT with a special dataset (数据集) called StableText2Lego. To build this dataset, they first let the AI read a text instruction and turn it into a 3D shape. Then they put the shape into a voxel grid (三维网格) to set the basic form. They checked if the design was stable (稳定的), and only kept the strong, good ones. Finally, each design was shown from 24 different sides and described by another AI. Now the dataset has over 47,000 LEGO models, like tables, cars and guitars. With this dataset, LegoGPT can help people create new designs. It turns your words into a LEGO plan, then breaks the plan into small steps, explaining how to put the bricks together. At every step, it predicts (预测) the next brick to use. It also checks if the model works. If there’s a problem, the AI goes back to a safe step and starts again, until the design is finished. LegoGPT is free for everyone online now! It can also work with other tools, like image processing AI, which helps computers understand and use photos. For example, you can take a photo of your LEGO bricks, and AI will suggest what you can build with them. 29. Why does the writer begin the text with a question? A. To catch readers’ interest. B. To show facts or opinions. C. To ask readers for help. D. To give a useful suggestion. 30. Which is the correct order of making the dataset of LegoGPT? ①Check the design ②Describe each design ③Set the basic form ④Turn an instruction into a 3D shape A. ②①④③ B. ②④①③ C. ④①②③ D. ④③①② 31. What does LegoGPT do at each step of making the design? A. Return to a safe step. B. Guess the next brick. C. Break the plan. D. Put the bricks together. 32. What does the underlined words “image processing” mean? A. Writing text instructions for AI tools. B. Training all kinds of AI models. C. Using technology to work with pictures. D. Making different LEGO models. D ①The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important waterways. It connects the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean. At its narrowest point, it is only 33 kilometers wide. This makes it a natural “chokepoint (咽喉要道)” — a small passage that plays a big role in global shipping. ②Every day, huge oil ships pass through the strait. They carry about 20% of the world’s sea-borne (海运的) oil and a large part of natural gas. Most of these energy resources are shipped to Asian countries like China, India, Japan, and South Korea. For countries around the strait, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the UAE, it is often the only way to send their oil and gas to the rest of the world. ③However, in early 2026, the strait became quiet. Many shipping companies stopped sending their ships through, and sea traffic dropped by nearly 70%. As a result, global energy prices rose sharply. In the United States, gas prices doubled within weeks. In Europe, families paid much more to heat their homes. ④The Strait of Hormuz is small in size, but it has a huge influence on the global economy (全球经济). Its special geography, long history, and key role in energy transport make it one of the world’s most vital (至关重要的) waterways. 33. What energy resources pass through the strait every day? A. Oil and coal. B. Natural gas and heat energy. C. Oil and natural gas. D. Coal and heat energy. 34. What can we know about early 2026 according to the text? A. Many ships still passed through the strait as usual. B. Less ship traffic led to higher global energy prices. C. European families spent less money in heating homes. D. American gas prices remained the same in several weeks. 35. How is the text organized? A. B. C. D. 36. What is the best title (标题) for the text? A. Sea Transport: a Dangerous Choice B. Global Oil Prices: a Sharp Rise C. Energy Resources: a Natural Treasure D. The Strait of Hormuz: a Vital Waterway 第二节 阅读短文,从方框内所给的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,其中有一个多余的选项。 Color Walk This spring, a new activity called “Color Walk” has become super popular among Chinese young people.
