And they feel how exciting its ending of the soccer game is.”,从整段话可知人们喜欢足球在场上的创造性和令人兴奋之处,被足球吸引,所以“appreciate”应该是“欣赏,喜欢”的意思,与“enjoy”意思相符。
17.根据文中第一段的“The first soccer game was invented by Chinese 2000 years ago.”
18.第二段第一句“There are several reasons why it is popular all over the world.”引出了足球受欢迎的原因,后面接着说“First of all, playing soccer is so easy and cheap for people. They don't need to cost too much...”,这里的“they”指的是前面提到的“people”,即人们。

51.Four./4.
52.We should avoid touching hot water directly and stay away from fire. 53.Turn off devices after use and don’t plug too many things into one socket. 54.The injured area.

56.④②①③
在“PREVENTION”部分的“Be careful when using electricity”段落中,找到同义句“Turn off devices after use and don’t plug too many things into one socket.”,两者表达的意思完全一致,因此答案是原文直接信息。
54.在“TREATMENT”部分的步骤①中,“When you get burned, the first thing to do is to put the injured area under cool running water. Keep it there for about 10-15 minutes.”,这里的“it”指代前文提到的“the injured area”(受伤部位)。
55.根据“TREATMENT”部分步骤②的内容“However, if any clothing is stuck to the burn, don’t try to take it off, as this could hurt the skin more.”,可知原因是“这会进一步伤害皮肤”。
57.“If the burn is serious, call 120 or go to the hospital at once.” “If the burn is serious”意为“如果烧伤严重”;“call 120”意为“拨打120”;“or”意为“或者”;“go to the hospital”意为“去医院”;“at once”意为“立刻、马上”。

My Eighth-Grade Story
How time flies! The eighth grade is nearly over. Looking back, I find I have grown a lot.
First, I have learned to keep healthy. In the past, I spent too much time on computer games and often felt tired. Now, I do sports such as running and playing basketball three times a week. My father is a doctor, and he always tells me that staying healthy is the most important thing in life. I also started eating more vegetables than before. When I feel stressed, I share my feelings with my parents or listen to music. These habits really help me become stronger and happier.
As for responsibility, I help my parents with housework at home. I make the bed, fold my clothes, and take out the rubbish every day. Last month, I joined a volunteer activity to clean up a park near our school. Although we were very tired, everyone felt proud. I have learned that helping others is also helping ourselves. What‘s more, I used to be afraid of speaking in class, but with the support of my teacher, I pushed myself to answer questions. Now I am much more confident than before.
I also visited Mount Tai with my classmates last spring. When we finally reached the top, I saw the most beautiful sunrise ever. At that moment, I understood that the harder we try, the more wonderful things we will see.
In a word, the eighth grade has taught me to take care of myself, care for others, and stay strong in difficult times. I am ready for the ninth grade and look forward to the future!

Most children like playing soccer all over the world. Do you know that soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world? People are crazy about soccer and the first astronaut who landed on the moon wanted to take a soccer ball to the moon. The first soccer game was invented by Chinese 2000 years ago. There are several reasons why it is popular all over the world. First of all, playing soccer is so easy and cheap for people. They don’t need to spend too much. It is convenient for people to play soccer.
The popularity of playing soccer is its creativity and excitement on the field. It attracts millions of people. They appreciate how they use their bodies to pass, score and protect. And they feel how exciting its ending of the soccer game is.
What’s more, soccer has become one of the best ways for people to communicate: It doesn’t need words, but everyone understands it. It brings people to be together on and off the field. For example, there was the famous soccer game on Christmas Day 1914. World War I had broken out months before, but British and German soldiers put down their guns and played soccer together.

Although polar bears live in the Arctic, where temperatures hit-40℃, they stay warm thanks to their fat and thick fur, which can keep heat in and cold out. But scientists have found that polar bear fur provides something more than that. It also has oil that keeps ice from building up at all.
At first the researchers thought the structure of polar bear fur was what kept ice from sticking to it, but when they examined the fur under a microscope, they realized that wasn’t the case. They noticed something else, however: The fur was very oily. The team guessed that could be what kept the fur from freezing.
To check their idea, they froze blocks of ice onto washed and unwashed polar bear fur, human hair, and ski equipment, which is covered with chemicals that reduce friction (摩擦力). Then they worked out how much force was needed to remove (移开) the ice from each of these materials.
Ice was easily removed from the unwashed, oily polar bear fur and the ski equipment. It was harder to remove from the human hair and about four times harder to remove from the washed fur. After finding out why the ice wasn’t sticking, the team carefully studied the oil itself. They found that it was full of chemicals that keep ice away.
Hopefully, the findings will lead to the creation of materials that don’t get icy. Now, some of the chemicals used to keep skis ice-free are harmful to the environment.
21.What do we know about polar bears’ fur?
A.It is difficult to wash. B.It stops ice from forming.
C.It is thicker than other furs. D.It produces heat for polar bears.

A.The test of ice removal force. B.The tips on freezing ice blocks.
C.The chemicals in polar bear fur. D.The comparison among materials.
24.Which product can benefit from the research findings?

FIRST AID FOR BURNS
DEGREE OF BURNS
TREATMENTIf you have a first-degree burn, follow these steps:①When you get burned, the first thing to do is to put the injured area under cool running water. Keep it there for about 10-15 minutes. This helps to reduce the pain and prevent the burn from getting worse.
②After cooling the burn, carefully take off any jewelry or clothing near the burned area. This is important because
burns can cause swelling (肿胀), and jewelry might become too tight. However, if any clothing is stuck to the burn, don’t try to take it off, as this could hurt the skin more.
③Soak the area in cool water for about 30 minutes to further relieve pain and reduce swelling. Once the skin is dry, you can apply a thin layer of burn cream or aloe vera gel to help healing. Avoid using ice, butter, or home remedies like toothpaste, as these can damage the skin and lead to infection.
④Finally, protect the burn by covering it with a clean, soft cloth or bandage. This keeps dirt and germs away from the wound while it heals. Avoid using dirty materials, as they might stick to the burn or cause hurt.
If the burn is serious, call 120 or go to the hospital at once.
PREVENTION● Avoid touching hot water directly. It can burn your skin badly. Always check the temperature first or use a cup with a handle.
● Stay away from fire. Fire can hurt you and spread fast. Never play with matches or lighters, and keep a safe distance from stoves and candles.
● Deal with chemicals under instructions. Some chemicals are dangerous, so always follow your teacher’s instructions. Wear gloves to protect yourself.
● Be careful when using electricity. Wet hands and broken wires can cause accidents. Turn off devices after use and don’t plug too many things into one socket.
