标题:居中书写Notice;

Plot
At the Zootenial Gala, a poisonous snake named Gary De'Snake kidnaps (绑架) family leader Milton Lynxley to access an old journal. Framed as partners in crime, Judy and Nick become runaways. Amalia Garcia Lopez and Carlos Lafuente Picazo, two final-year university students from Spain, have just wrapped up a nine-day trip to Shanghai—a city they might one day consider calling home.
They were participants in the Young Explorer Program, a program designed to bring international members of Gen Z (Z世代) to China and introduce them to Shanghai. The program offers overseas youth the opportunity to experience Chinese culture firsthand and foster people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding.
Twenty-two young people from different cultural backgrounds took part in the immersive journey. Their route included guided city walks and visits to companies and neighborhoods, offering a deep dive into Shanghai’s society and culture. The group explored museums and heritage sites to learn about the city’s history, visited iconic tourist attractions to experience its modern vibe, engaged with traditional Chinese culture in local communities, and discovered thriving business hubs and revitalized (焕发活力的) historic neighborhoods.
All participants described the trip as both enjoyable and rewarding. During the trip, they were particularly impressed by Shanghai’s diversity—describing the city as “cosmopolitan (国际性的)” and “dynamic”.
“I was coming to Shanghai with the impression that it’s like a city of the future, and so far, I feel like I’m seeing it for real,” said Picazo. “I think Shanghai is a city made for everyone. I’ve seen people from all over the world here, and you can find whatever you need. It has so much to offer to make whoever comes feel comfortable.”
“One thing that surprised me is that Shanghai has a lot of nature, and it is so green,” Lopez said. “It’s the perfect mix between society and nature, and it’s a city that’s growing every day. So, for me it was quite shocking because I think when cities expand, they tend to just get rid of the trees and the nature.”
24. What does the underlined phrase “wrapped up” in the first paragraph mean?
A. Packed carefully. B. Ended successfully.
C. Covered completely. D. Celebrated joyfully.
25. What is the Young Explorer Program for?
A. Training Gen Z in global business.
B. Exploring Shanghai’s natural scenery.
C. Recruiting overseas talents for Shanghai.
D. Promoting cultural exchange with China.
26. What impressed the participants most about Shanghai?
A. Its affordable living costs. B. Its harmonious diversity.
C. Its advanced transportation. D. Its traditional architecture.
27. How did Lopez’s feelings about Shanghai change?
A. From simple to complex. B. From skeptical to confident.
C. From doubtful to appreciative. D. From outdated to modern.
C
What comes into your mind when you think of British food? Probably fish and chips, or a Sunday dinner of meat and two vegetables. But is British food really so uninteresting? Even though Britain has a reputation for less-than-impressive cuisine, it is producing more top class chefs who appear frequently on our television screens and whose recipe books frequently top the best seller lists.
It’s thanks to these TV chefs rather than any advertising campaign that Britons are turning away from meat-and-two-veg and ready-made meals and becoming more adventurous in their cooking habits. It is recently reported that the number of those sticking to a traditional diet is slowly declining and around half of Britain’s consumers would like to change or improve their cooking in some way. There has been a rise in the number of students applying for food courses at UK universities and colleges. It seems that TV programmes have helped change what people think about cooking.
According to a new study from market analysts, 1 in 5 Britons say that watching cookery programmes on TV has encouraged them to try different food. Almost one third say they now use a wider variety of ingredients (配料) than they used to, and just under 1 in 4 say they now buy better quality ingredients than before. One in four adults say that TV chefs have made them much more confident about expanding their cookery knowledge and skills, and young people are also getting more interested in cooking. The UK’s obsession (痴迷) with food is reflected through television scheduling. Cookery shows and documentaries about food are broadcast more often than before. With an increasing number of male chefs on TV, it’s no longer “uncool” for boys to like cooking.
28. What do people usually think of British food?
A. It deserves a high reputation. B. It is rich in nutrition.
C. It is simple and ordinary-looking. D. It lacks authentic tastes.
29. Which best describes cookery programme on British TV?
A. Influential. B. Creative. C. Profitable. D. Entertaining.
30. Which is the percentage of the people using more diverse ingredients now?
A. 20%. B. 24%. C. 25%. D. 33%.
31. What might the author continue talking about?
A. Studies of big eaters. B. Male chefs on TV programmes.
C. Table manners in the UK. D. The art of cooking in other countries.
D
At Nature Fresh Farms in Leamington, Canada, there’s something new among the rows of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and strawberries. Using thousands of sensors in every greenhouse, artificial-intelligence technology is helping the farm in aspects such as lighting, irrigation and harvest timing, aiming to increase the yields of its crops and reduce its use of power and water. Farmers use drones(无人机) to survey farms and look for information on weeds, pests and disease.
A lot of research into AI and agriculture is done at institutions, but it then needs to be tested in a network of smart farms. One of the farms is Emili’s Innovation Farms. “We really show how they work in a commercial setting and in a sense, act as a risk reducer as we try out these technologies and then share with others (including other farmers) how they actually work as a means to make it easier to adopt and fully use those new technologies,” said Ms. Keena, managing director of Emili.
It takes time to find out whether new technology has affected a crop, and this can be a barrier to adoption for farmers. Sometimes it’s within a year, or within a few years. Ms. Keena said, “We can’t ask them to take big risks on integrating new technologies at scale as part of their operations in things that are unproven.” Innovation Farms addresses a piece of one of the barriers of people needing to be able to see these technologies rolled out in a full-scale and commercial way ahead of being able to adopt them themselves.
Farmers’ trust levels are also a barrier. Data are important to AI models, but farmers need to be better inspired to share their data in order to make the technology better. But over time, there’s an increase in engagement from farmers. “Farmer engagement is absolutely critical to developing AI tools for agriculture. If they’ve seen it demonstrated essentially in their backyard through a smart farm, well, then we’re that much further ahead toward adoption.”
32. What can be learned about AI from Paragraph 1?
A. It changes how farms run. B. It replaces employees.
C. It shortens production cycle. D. It adds the variety of vegetables.
33. Why is AI technology tested at Emilli’s Innovation Farms?
A. To predict its future. B. To introduce its advantage.
C. To expand its market. D. To confirm its dependability.
34. What’s the key to removing the barriers?
A. Bettering AI models. B. Developing more AI tools.
C. Gaining farmers’ recognition. D. Enlarging the farm scales.
35. Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A. AI: a promoter of farmers’ life
B. AI: a driver of agricultural development
C. Smart farms: Replacing Traditional Farming
D. Smart farms: The Key to Solving Water Shortage

First Aid in Daily Life
When an accident happens at school or at home, knowing some basic first aid can make a real difference. First aid is not a replacement for professional medical help, but the immediate assistance you give can save a life or prevent an injury from getting worse. 36 These principles are often remembered as the “Three Ps”: Preserve life, Prevent further injury, and Promote recovery.
Let’s take a common situation: a nosebleed. Many people’s first reaction is to tilt the head back. 37 The appropriate method is to have the person sit down, lean slightly forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose for about 10 minutes. This position helps drain the blood forward and prevents it from flowing down the throat, which could cause choking or nausea.
38 For a minor burn from hot water or steam, the first step is to cool the area. You should immediately hold the burned skin under cool, running water for at least 10 to 20 minutes. Do not use ice, as it can damage the tissue. After cooling, cover the burn loosely with a clean, non-stick bandage. Avoid applying butter, as these can trap heat and increase the risk of infection.
For a sprained ankle, a common sports injury, remember the “RICE” method. Rest the injured ankle. Ice it with a cold pack wrapped in a towel to reduce swelling. Compress it with an elastic bandage, but not too tightly. Finally, Elevate it above the level of the heart if possible. 39
40 You can find reliable courses offered by organizations like your local Red Cross or at community centers. The confidence and knowledge you gain could one day allow you to help a friend, a family member, or even a stranger in need.
A. This helps to reduce pain and swelling.
B. However, this is actually an incorrect practice.
C. Therefore, staying calm is your first priority in any emergency.
D. It is guided by several simple but important principles.
E. Another frequent situation that requires first aid is minor burns.
F. If you are interested in learning more, consider taking a certified first aid course.
G. The process involves checking the scene for safety before approaching the victim.

Catherine had stayed at home all her life to look after her three children, but now, she, who lost her husband in a car accident, had to step out and earn money to make ends meet With zero work experience and no professional degree, her chances of getting hired for a well-paid job were next to zero.
One day, after dropping her children at school, Catherine spotted a construction site(建筑工地). “I think I can work here,” she thought and approached the manager.
“Hi, are you hiring?” she asked. “Yes, we are,” the manager looked at Catherine from head to toe. “Are you sure you can work here? This job requires a lot of hard work.” “I’m ready for it,” she told the manager and signed a contract (签合同) to work a 12-hour shift.
However, Catherine kept her new job a secret from her children. She thought they would feel embarrassed after learning their mother worked at a construction site.
Every morning, after dropping her children to school, she would go to the construction site and work until her shift ended. She would pick up heavy bricks on her shoulder to transport them from one part of the site to the other. One evening, Catherine’s son, Peter, told her about an upcoming contest in school that required mothers to participate. In the competition, students will wear blindfolds and have to recognize their mothers without looking at them. “That sounds like such a cool event, Peter!” Catherine said excitedly. “I can’t wait for it!” “I won’t go there with you, mom,” Peter replied. “But why?” What her son said next was something Catherine wasn’t prepared to hear.
“Mom, I would have to touch your hands to recognize you, and everyone would look at them,” Peter explained. “Your hands are so ugly. They’re so hard and rough,” he added. “I will feel so embarrassed when my classmates look at your hands,” the boy said. “I won’t attend the event.” Catherine felt terrible but couldn’t say anything in her defense.

Paragraph 1:
A few weeks later, Peter was walking home when something unexpected caught his attention. In the distance, he saw a familiar figure in worn-out clothes, covered in dust and sweat, lifted heavy bricks with her weathered hands at the construction site. As he drew closer, he realized it was his mother, Catherine. Catherine tirelessly moved heavy bricks with her ugly and rough hands under the scorching sun. Her face was covered in sweat, and she didn’t even have time to wipe it off as she rushed back and forth, working tirelessly. Peter stood there in shock, unable to utter a single word. Meanwhile, a wave of guilt and regret flooded over him. He shouldn’t have said those hurtful words.
Paragraph 2:
On his way back home, he kept thinking about how he would apologize to his mother. Peter couldn’t shake off the guilt and regret for his hurtful words towards his mother. He knew he had to make things right and apologize to her. The moment Catherine stepped into the house from work, Peter rushed up to her, gently took her hands in his and held them tightly. “Mom, I’m sorry” he murmured, tears welling up in his eyes, “I didn’t understand then, but now I see how hard you work for us.Your hands may be rough, but they are the most beautiful hands in the world because they care for us.” Tears welled up in Catherine’s eyes as she embraced her son, a wave of happiness washing over her. From that day on, Peter not only attended the school event with his mother but also stood by her side, holding her hands with pride.

A few years ago, I would never have imagined running a marathon. It all started when my oldest daughter completed her first half-marathon, and I thought, “I could do that.” However, when I tried my first jog, I couldn’t even make it down the street without feeling completely out of breath. I worked at Men’s Health, surrounded by people who were fit and doing amazing things. I realized it was time for a change. I started small, committing to short-distance training on Fridays and over the weekends, gradually increasing the distance. Soon, I ran my first 5K, and from there, I kept pushing my limits. Eventually, I decided to run the New York Marathon. The training was hard, but it paid off — I crossed the finish line in 4:51:28; I had completed the race! Looking back, I went from not being able to run a mile to finishing a marathon. I’ve truly become better. It’s never too late to improve yourself.

根据文章第一段“Amalia Garcia Lopez and Carlos Lafuente Picazo, two final-year university students from Spain, have just wrapped up a nine-day trip to Shanghai—a city they might one day consider calling home.( Amalia Garcia Lopez和Carlos Lafuente Picazo是来自西班牙的两名即将毕业的大学生,他们刚刚……
根据文章第二段“They were participants in the Young Explorer Program, a program designed to bring international members of Gen Z (Z世代) to China and introduce them to Shanghai. The program offers overseas youth the opportunity to experience Chinese culture firsthand and foster people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding.(他们是“青年探索者计划”的参与者,该计划旨在将 Z 世代(即当今的年轻人一代)的国际成员带到中国,并让他们了解上海。
根据文章第四段“All participants described the trip as both enjoyable and rewarding. During the trip, they were particularly impressed by Shanghai’s diversity—describing the city as “cosmopolitan (国际性的) ” and “dynamic”.
根据文章最后一段“One thing that surprised me is that Shanghai has a lot of nature, and it is so green(让我感到惊讶的一点是,上海拥有大量的自然景观,而且这里非常绿意盎然。)”以及“It’s the perfect mix between society and nature, and it’s a city that’s growing every day. So, for me it was quite shocking because I think when cities expand, they tend to just get rid of the trees and the nature.(这是社会与自然的完美结合,而且这是一座每天都在发展的城市。 C“From doubtful to appreciative (从怀疑到欣赏)”符合题意。
根据第一段的“What comes into your mind when you think of British food? Probably fish and chips, or a Sunday dinner of meat and two vegetables. But is British food really so uninteresting?”(当你想到英国食物时,你会想到什么?
根据第二段的“It’s thanks to these TV chefs rather than any advertising campaign that Britons are turning away from meat-and-two-veg and ready-made meals and becoming more adventurous in their cooking habits.”(正是由于电视上的这些大厨,而不是凭借广告宣传活动,英国人正在远离“一肉两菜”和速食餐,而变得更加愿意探索新的烹饪习惯。)和“It seems that TV programmes have helped change what people think about cooking.”(似乎电视节目帮助改变了人们对烹饪的看法。) 故选A项。
根据第三段的“Almost one third say they now use a wider variety of ingredients (配料) than they used to, and just under 1 in 4 say they now buy better quality ingredients than before.”(几乎三分之一的人表示他们现在使用的配料比以前更多,将近四分之一的人表示他们现在购买的配料质量比以前更好。)
根据第三段的最后一句“With an increasing number of male chefs on TV, it’s no longer “uncool” for boys to like cooking.”(随着电视上出现越来越多男性厨师,男孩子喜欢烹饪不再是一件“不酷”的事了。)
根据第一段“Using thousands of sensors in every greenhouse, artificial-intelligence technology is helping the farm in aspects such as lighting, irrigation and harvest timing, aiming to increase the yields of its crops and reduce its use of power and water. Farmers use drones (无人机) to survey farms and look for information on weeds, pests and disease (在每个温室中使用数千个传感器,人工智能技术正在照明、灌溉和收获时间等方面帮助农场,旨在提高作物产量,减少电力和水的使用。 故选A项。
根据第二段“We really show how they work in a commercial setting and in a sense, act as a risk reducer as we try out these technologies and then share with others (including other farmers) how they actually work as a means to make it easier to adopt and fully use those new technologies (我们真的展示了它们在商业环境中是如何工作的,从某种意义上说,在我们尝试这些技术时起到了降低风险的作用,然后与其他人(包括其他农民)分享它们实际是如何工作的,以此作为一种更容易采用和充分利用这些新技术的手段)” 可知,在埃米利创新农场测试人工智能技术是为了确认其可靠性,让其他农民更放心地采用,降低风险。故选D项。
根据第一段“At Nature Fresh Farms in Leamington, Canada, there’s something new among the rows of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and strawberries. Using thousands of sensors in every greenhouse, artificial-intelligence technology is helping the farm in aspects such as lighting, irrigation and harvest timing, aiming to increase the yields of its crops and reduce its use of power and water. Farmers use drones(无人机) to survey farms and look for information on weeds, pests and disease(在加拿大利明顿的Nature Fresh Farms,番茄、黄瓜、辣椒和草莓等作物间出现了一些新事物。 农民们使用无人机来巡查农场,收集有关杂草、害虫和疾病等信息)”、第二段“A lot of research into AI and agriculture is done at institutions, but it then needs to be tested in a network of smart farms. One of the farms is Emili’s Innovation Farms.( 许多关于人工智能和农业的研究都是在研究机构进行的,但随后需要在一个智能农场网络中进行测试。其中一个这样的农场是Emili的创新农场)”以及最后一段“Farmer engagement is absolutely critical to developing AI tools for agriculture. If they’ve seen it demonstrated essentially in their backyard through a smart farm, well, then we’re that much further ahead toward adoption(农民的参与对于开发农业AI工具至关重要。
D项 中的“It”指代前文的“first aid”,“principles”直接引出下文的“Three Ps”。

Paragraph 1:
A few weeks later, Peter was walking home when something unexpected caught his attention. In the distance, he saw a familiar figure in worn-out clothes, covered in dust and sweat, lifted heavy bricks with her weathered hands at the construction site. As he drew closer, he realized it was his mother, Catherine. Catherine tirelessly moved heavy bricks with her ugly and rough hands under the scorching sun. Her face was covered in sweat, and she didn't even have time to wipe it off as she rushed back and forth, working tirelessly.
“Mom, I’m sorry” he murmured, tears welling up in his eyes, “I didn’t understand then, but now I see how hard you work for us. Your hands may be rough, but they are the most beautiful hands in the world because they care for us.” Tears welled up in Catherine’s eyes as she embraced her son, a wave of happiness washing over her. From that day on, Peter not only attended the school event with his mother but also stood by her side, holding her hands with pride.
