What do you do when you' re angry? Some people vent(发泄) their anger. They may shout hit something to get their anger out. New research said that it doesn't actually help. In fact, might make things worse.
Sophie Kjaervik and Brad Bushman led the research. They looked at 154 studies including more than 10,000 people from more than 20 countries. The experts said the results were the san for people of all ages wherever they came from.“Angry people want to hit, kick(踢) or scream(尖叫),” said Bushman.“But that doesn't work. People say they feel better after, but this feelin just makes them more probably do it again.” He said venting is the worst thing you can do.
Kjaervik explained how they did their work. They collected research on anger and activities And then they looked at the influences of different activities on people's heart rate and anger.
The researchers found that activities like breathing and yoga(瑜伽) helped people relax.“We were surprised to find that all activities that calm your body down are helpful in making people less angry,"said Kjaervik. So she gave some advice.
“People should calm their breathing down,”Kjaervik said.“This can be done by simply lying down and breathing slowly and deeply. Imagine your angry thoughts flying away on a cloud, and that should make you less angry.”
Bushman also gave advice on managing anger. He said that eating healthy food, like fruits and vegetables, can help.“To manage your anger, make sure you' ve had something to eat!” said Bushman.
